It was a beautiful day out on BI today. I spent several hours there (late morning to early afternoon) and very few walkers. There were only 2 other guys there and one only stayed 20 minutes or so. I wish I could have stayed all day - it really was a perfect day.

Great day so far on Bird Island. Walkers in the morning but they let up early afternoon. One guy was in a g walking around reading and did not have a care in the world. A couple of regulars in briefs and square cuts. There was also a couple him in a brief, her in a modest thong. A couple of nudities rounded out the cast of characters. (Myself included). I may have inspired the gentleman from the couple, just before they packed up to leave he did a quick skinny dip. There is a bit less space to set up out here due to several turtle nests that are new since I was out here 2 weeks ago

That was me walking around reading. I find the walking around gives a more even (near) all-over tan.

Standing and walking around definitely helps even the tan except for the bottom of your feet.  Unfortunately with a physique like mine (suffering from Dunlop disease, where my belly done lop over my belt) lying flat into the sun is the only way to tan under the overhang. Hope you had a good time out there. I have some work around the house, but hope to get out after lunch.

Hey. I saw an article about people need to be on alert due to the busy weekend and a king tide at the same time. How does a king tide affect our sunning area of BI?
Martylouie #306

Re:Bird Island, NC (near Sunset Beach)

Date Posted:07/03/2019 10:45:11Copy HTML

At high king tide there is no sunning area. The water go almost up to the base of the dunes. If you were laying out, walkers would have to step over you in places like in front of the dead little pine tree.

Beautiful day yesterday down on BI. There were less than 20 walkers during my 2 hour visit so there were certainly options for the type of clothing I chose to wear. lol

Looking forward to Saturday and Sunday and getting out there for the first time in several months. I’ll be setting up in my normal place along the way down the beach. I will probably set up all by myself. I’ll be walking down to the jetty at least once during the day so if you see me flag me down and let’s chat. I’ll probably be wearing one of my G strings since I have mainly been wearing my thongs this summer.

At BI today. Walked from 38th to jetty at 9am. Lots of foot traffic. Everyone was friendly that I passed. Went nude a couple times into the water. It’s a great day to be at BI.

May try to get up there to morrow. Currently at folly beach and has been absolutely no foot traffic in the last 2 and a 1/2 hours. A couple of girls in thongs way down the beach and one other gentleman in his who have known for years. Tide is going the sandbar is just starting to break the top of the water . How many other people are out there on Bird Island today?

I saw 4 others guys out on BI today. A few female walkers in thongs. It was a quite day for thongs in general but a great beach day and plenty of break for nude tanning and swimming.

I had a chance to get on a boat and hang out on a sand bar this afternoon. Every girl from college student to mom was in a cheeky or less. No guys in anything other than shorts. Great to see thongs making a come back though.

Good to hear there are more people enjoying BI. Over the past few weeks when I have gone out (mid week) there is generally no one else out there which is disappointing. I’m looking forward to being back at BI next week!

Good to see other thongers out at BI today, even though foot traffic was light but annoyingly consistent. Always amazing to see most people stop walking to hunt shells right in front of those of us in minimal swimwear!

Alllll this f'ing beach andbyou have to hang out right in front of me?! Same thing with the geeky bird watchers. Thet are meandering for a hour watching birds eat and take a dump, interrupting my nude or thong time.

CHSnudist,

Don't sugar coat it. Tell us how you really feel.

That does burn me up when someone stops in front of me to dick around and there is 500 yards of clear beach in either direction.

Later,

My favorite is when walkers decide to use our canopy as their designated turn around point and take a break.   Why not the mailbox.? why not the jetty?

How are the tidal pools lately?   One time I I was laying nude in one and a boat family (mom and 2 young girls) comes walking along the beach heading to the mailbox.  My swim suited wife leans back against me to cover the important bits, and the little one decides to play in the next pool.   After a bit the mom gets a clue and realizes that we haven't moved for a while and moves the little one along.  After they left, we were able to go back to our chairs.   If it hadn't been kids, I would have been more likely to have moved around a bit.

Yeah. A few times over the years, i would be naked in ky chair, have Mr. Super Genius and fam stop right in front of me and waah their ca and, hang out their landry and wash dishes (being sarastic). I worked my way into a thong, stood up and started koving ky stuff around, and i feel the site of my thong persuaded them to move along. I LOVE the boaters who fight the waves and incoming tide to TRY and anchor on Folly where we lay out! Dumbasses! Yer boat is gonna get beat up by the oyster bed below. Not that there isnt TONS of beach over on Morris to achor up. (For those of us who know Folly and the nude area.)

Currently over 1.5 miles of beach and I can see over 2 miles to my left and see no one stopped. But I have half a dozen people shelling and looking at the ocean directly in front of me for the last 20 minutes. Hilarious!

I find the best option is to stand up, walk around a bit, or briefly go in to cool off. While this could be seen as showing off, if done before they get close it is just fair warning. If they are OK with what I am wearing, or are not wearing, I just go back to being normal. Apart from the fact that humans naturally tend to congregate, there is often one in the group who wishes to expose the others, as in "See this is normal so don't give me a hard time about thongs or nudity." If they are comfortable with being near you take that as a complement. If they were not comfortable they would move on. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Painter, in the shellers defense, some of the very best shelling on Sunset Beach/Bird Island is between the mailbox and the jetty. And your normal spot by the bush is the best :)

Anywhere I go, there's no one else around for me to set up in front of just to try and run them off. But yes in the past I have watched people meander down the beach looking at shells or whatever and walked out to the water in something skimpy and had them eventually do an about face before they even got right in front of me. But at the same time as high strung as society is, someone could absolutely freak the F out and then everything yet stirred to the 10th level of Hell.

I thought it was going to suck. I was wrong, it turned out ok till the end of the day when thunderstorms threatened. As I was hurrying home I ran into a regular lurker who was heading out. He might have had a good time because it cleared up by the time we got back to the house.

I don’t need to ride all the way out to Bird Island to see fine young ladies in thongs (actually haven’t been any), I just need to work in my yard and look next door! I was doing some gardening and the renters next door started barking at me, and the dog’s owner pulls him back. She was wearing close to the smallest backed suit I have seen all summer, and she wore it well. A little bit later she was off to the beach in the same suit. A few years ago it would have been called a thong, but now they are cheeky. A guy would be called out for a suit like that, but if you are on the actual Bird Island Reserve @ 1/4 mile west of the last trash cans go for it!

Late this afternoon at Bird Island was relaxing, though windy with a moderate amount of sand blowing. I chatted with Martylouie and wife at their cabana between Kindred Spirit mailbox and the jetty. (I am the Thongboard lurker Martylouie mentioned in his 8/5/2019 post.) Very few walkers; so, I had a leisurely beach stroll in and out of my JAXF5TK G-String and a couple bare ocean dips. Groups of "turtle midwives" were on their way to check turtle nests as I walked the beach back to Sunset Beach.

I'm thinking of heading down in September for the first time, maybe rent a house for a week in Sunset Beach...are thongs legal in Sunset Beach or do they have an ordinance?
Martylouie #331

Re:Bird Island, NC (near Sunset Beach)

Date Posted:08/10/2019 12:11:20Copy HTML

Thongs are definitely against municipal code in Sunset Beach. Women have been wearing “cheeky” suits on the beach this summer and getting away with it. The Bird Island Coastal Reserve used to be a separate Island on the west side of the strand. After a hurricane in the early 90’s Mad Inlet filled in. The Reserve is state owned (except for the southwestern tip around the stone jetty which is South Carolina) which means Sunset Beach Town ordnances do not apply. The actual dividing line is .4 mile from The 40th Street beach crossover and marked by a large coastal reserve sign. Go a bit past that and you can thong and go topfree to your hearts content, except for the random biddy who might try to get in your face. My suggestion is to rent on the west side of the Island. Just be aware that there is a house under construction on the beach side of Main Street between 36 and 39 (not sure exactly) PM me for more information

Forgot to add, don’t forget to get trip insurance! September is the best time to go, still warm, days still long, kids back in school, oysters coming back in season etc. But it is also when we tend to get hit with hurricanes and tropical storms

Was out late yesterday I saw a woman in an extremely cheeky suit near 40th. I set up my chair a little past my usual spot between the mailbox and the jetty. Nobody settled out near me. Hardly anybody out there in a swimsuit, let alone a thong. Closest I came to seeing a bare butt was during a walk on the inlet and a woman in a bikini half mooned the gambling boat as it went past. She very well have given it a full moon if she put down her beer.

So I guess it's probably best to go down a little bit further than where I normally lay out, where that couple head down to that always hide behind their beach tents and umbrellas down by the Bush?

Flies were somewhat of a nuisance yesterday afternoon but I used some bug spray and it wasn't so bad. The weather was fantastic and hardly anyone down on BI. I passed one fella in a thong while I was walking to BI and by his overall tan, it was definitely not his first day out on the beach. I was able to walk around in and out of my thong undisturbed for over an hour. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Was out on Bird Island the last couple of days and I saw more men in thongs than ladies in thongs or cheekies. You never sausage a beach. One thing to note is that the large blue Coastal Reserve sign is not visible from the beach. It is either gone or covered by dune growth. The Please Keep Off The Dunes sign is still there. Very cloudy this morning and tomorrow’s forecast is for rain. I don’t even have a clue about what Dorian will bring. ( guess I could work for the NWS)

It is funny how I did not see 1 true thong on a female all Labor Day weekend on Bird Island. I saw a couple of moderately cheeky suits and 1 cheeky under a transparent wrap that was close to a thong. If I had stayed on Sunset, I probably would have seen more. Now to close up and storm proof before Dorian arrives. On it’s projected path it will probably beat the hell out of the dunes.

It was a nice afternoon on BI. High tide was around 4 pm, so I decided to walk from 40th to the jetty. I am glad I did because one of the regulars was pushing his bike to BI, due to the strong head wind. There were a few walkers. I did not see any ATV's on patrol. The dunes are in good shape after Dorian passed by the area at low tide.

Out here right now. No flies. Few wallkers. Only place you might have insect problems is on the crossovers.
