There have been less people setting up between mailbox & jetty on weekends than during the week. Should be a nice day today. |

I will be down at Myrtle for the week but only one thong day as I will be working on the road. I will so my norm and set up along the way much before the mailbox and take a walk or two to the jetty.
This year it just seems that I haven’t had as much time I’ll beach up there but I’ll take it when I can. |

Having said that, I wouldn’t wear exposure or missile suits right at the line ( the last pole west) or some Karen will bitch and moan and the police will be forced to talk to you. I’ve see several women in cheeky to thong suits already this year. As a side note, the PD and Fire department have been making a few extra runs down the beach looking for a duck hunter that has been missing for a couple of months. |

If someone was to challenge the ordinance it could potentially be overturned due to a state law that prohibits local governments from having regulations that exceed state regulations that was enacted during the whole bathroom bill debacle. That’s why Carolina Beach allows thongs. A couple of years ago I chatted with a beach patrol guy and he basically said that with the new styles, what is a thong or what is something that just slipped up? |

Re：Bird Island - Contacts and Chitchat Date Posted：05/03/2023 12:52:57Copy HTML I will enjoy the opportunity wear my thongs on Sunset Beach without having to take the long walk with all my beach items towards Bird Island. That’s been a strenuous hike all loaded down especially if it’s in the hot summer or I’m not physically at 100%. At those times I’ve been going down to Huntington Beach State Park since you can park by the beach and walk out to where your thongs anywhere there. Having said that, I still want to have times in which I make the hike with the gear because being on the island side and all by yourself is very tranquil. Regardless, I’ll still make my walks down to the jetty while walking in the surf. That’s the most relaxing time to get some sun on your buns and show that thongs (and Gs) are just another thing to wear at the beach!
My next trips down there will be this weekend of May 6 and 13th. I’m not sure we’re all set up this time yet. But I will test the thong waters out at some point. Sometimes it is just good to go to places where thongs are allowed and wear them when nobody else is just to make it known that there another choice in it’s allowed. |

One was on Sunday and the other the next Saturday. In both instances I went by myself and I set up at either the 36th or 37th street walkway and Stayed for about six hours. Both times I went walking down to the end of the island and then again for a shorter walk afterwards. Not once did I get any comments or extra attention for wearing a thong there at the beach. I never did when I set up down on Bird Island either over the years. I know this is a new thing for Sunset Beach as they recently changed the city ordinances and the police and beach patrol certainly saw me several times either while walking or around my area for the day. They drive within 15 yards of where most people line up on the beach. I read my book, had a few drinks, and swim for a little while as well, as the water is getting warmer. I also laid out buns out to get some sun on both days. Also, on both days, I had younger women who were wearing thongs and had set up within 30 feet of me after my arrival. So my feedback is that anyone is good to go in their thongs within the Sunset Beach city limits!
