Heading to Boston this week. Any updates re thonging places?

Recently new to Boston and already looking forward to the summer. Not necessarily looking to meet up but this still seemed like the best board for asking if anybody has experience thonging in any of the lovely Boston parks, by the river, or in public/club pools? Although I have not seen too much summer here it seems like there is plenty of open green space to just put down a blanket and soak up the sun.

I've since moved to NH about a year ago, but I was in Boston for years. The best place is to make the trek to Crane beach. You have to get there before 9 on the weekends or you may not get in. This is actually the case for most MA beaches, the population is just too dense for the amount of beaches that all seem to have limited parking and nowhere to expand. Obviously crowds near the parking lot but you can walk for miles until its thinned out enough for you to feel comfortable. In my opinion though herring cove in Provincetown is the best spot, and only place I feel like you can walk from the parking lot in just your thong, or use the concessions/rest rooms without a coverup. Not many options near the city proper unless you are ok being a real stand-out. It you were ultra confident you could setup along the charles, maybe on the docks off the bike path, but you will be passed by hundreds of fully clothed people and likely visible from the busy 3 lane starrow drive.

I live just west of Boston and agree that one of the best beach options is Crane Beach in Ipswich. You need to be aware of the few weeks in the summer when the greenhead flies are out and avoid the beach. Horseneck Beach in Westport is another thong friendly option as well as East Beach in RI. I have worn a thong on many other close to Boston beaches including Nantasket in Hull and Nahant in Lynn. I agree with wearsthongs that laying out along the Charles is not a great choice.
