Wearing a thong on Bradenton Beach, or AMI is doable, you might feel a bit uncomfortable. You would be much more comfortable wearing a thong on Longboat Key, Lido Key, Pass-a-grille, and St Pete Beach butt you will likely be alone as a guy. You have a better chance of not being the only male in a thong if you go to Treasure Island or Ft DeSoto beaches. Of course, if you know someone with a boat, then a trip to Passage Key (Naked Island) is wonderful. I will wear a g-string on the boat ride there and back but as soon as I'm anchored I am wearing my birthday suit!!

Bradenton is more family vibe. I have wore my  thong there but I was the only guy and I found a secluded spot. Desoto you can wear a thong on the beach at the Fort and the beach just north of the Fort. I have heard East Beach is good too but I only wore a thong there once, didn't like the bay water.  If you don't like crowds stay away from the North Beach area. Desoto has become a South Beach of the West Coast. Thongs and G-Strings everywhere.
