- almost perfect guarentee that i will not receive a citation. i must stress, i CANNOT have any issues with police. - reasonable guarentee that there will be other thongers (male or female) - no accessibility restrictions. car is fine, and a nearby parking lot would be ideal. if not, i wouldn't rule out public transport. - reasonable to assume that there WILL be other people. going to empty beaches doesnt really appeal to me for various reasons (infrastructure, lack of ability to people watch etc.) i have a shortlist of some popular beaches, one that comes to mind is venice beach in LA. this is one that I would not miss for the world. as well as some in san diego i dont think i will have a problem with. oh yes, and i will be a tourist in the US hence the reason for the questions. i thong regularly wherever i travel and have NEVER had a problem. i look forward to the 'challenge' that might be in the US (prudence being similar to australia :( your views would be appreciated. |

The best place for seeing other thongers is to set up near the Ketch or Gallion life guard towers. Don't expect to see many others wearing thongs. I have been 10 times and the most that I have seen on any occasion is 5 and usually it's just 1 or 2.
San Onofre is a nude beach and I have also thonged there. It's about 90 minutes south of LAX. Then there is Black's beach and it is in San Diego and it is a nude beach. Get ready for a hike down the "Mule" trail - it's exhausting, but worth the effort. Hope this helps. |

i will check out the others, although i might avoid the nude beaches, or set-up close by. i will look down the west coast to see if there are any new beaches that can be discovered for thonging, so if anyone recommends against doing this, or if there are particular beaches that will definitely get a frown then i will avoid. i obviously wont be setting up near families or packs of teenagers or groups of males. this would obviously be a bad idea and i wouldnt do this anywhere in the world let alone the US. |

Would I be correct in assuming that thongs are legal in pretty much all of California? I mean, I don't ever recall seeing any article about some elected official there attempting to "make a stand for family values" or whatever. I think they are too much up to their eyeballs in real problems there to make up problems that don't exist like they do in Kure Beach, Clearwater, etc.

You most likely will not see any women in Wicked Weasel or Malibu Strings and most of the men who do wear thongs stick to the traditional T Back style. I usually wear a Skinz Bravura thong but have been known to don the Skinz Micro G String (M1R2) on occassion.

I have been fortunate to spot a few Wicked Weasel and Malibu Strings girls at La Jolla and Silver Strand - rarely though. I have struck up conversations with a few of the Park Rangers at Silver Strand while wearing a Skinz M25 and M27, both unlined. They made it clear that my swimwear choice was perfectly legal. Two of the rangers were female. The lifeguards are okay with it also. My advice is either Coronado or La Jolla. I would not thong at Pacific Beach as there is no intelligent life there. You would get hassled, maybe even so far as a physical confrontation. It's PB after all. Ocean Beach is okay, laid back, chill. We have alot to offer out here in SOCAL so enjoy!

They were sunning nude. I was shocked by the amount of guys who stopped and layed out in their vicinity. They were about 25 yeards away from me when they stopped to enjoy themselves. Within 10 minutes there were 5 guys and within 45 there were 10. It was like these guys had never seen a naked woman in their lives. It was sickening, I was almost ashamed to be a man. These same guys wonder why women donot go to othe beach? |

Lots of comments and catcalls, a few photos, but no negative reactions and absolutely no police trouble. I've also done the same at several beaches in the Santa Barbara area, as well as Mission Beach in San Diego, Newport Beach, and Laguna Beach. Have a safe trip and keep thonging!

Re：California Beaches Date Posted：06/24/2010 02:10:43Copy HTML i had some great days at venice beach, for me its the best thonging location in california. its legal and mostly tolerated but you will get snapped quite often with lots of smiles. i didnt try walking up and down the boardwalk in just a thong but im sure that is fine too. i did notice however that if you set up near brazilian female thongers, they dont react well, and will stare and eventually pickup and leave. thongs on men are not tolerated in brazil, and they take that attitude with them. its a shame.

On Monday I saw a women in a thong bikini and when waking back up from the sea said hello as I walked passed. On Wednesday she was there again, and we struck up conversation. I found out she was vacationing from Brazil. I liked the confidence with which she wore her thong and she liked mine. We made plans and on Friday laid out together.
Stringster, I am not sure how you know people are from Brazil unless you have become their friends. The people with a poor attitude that you complain off may be from South LA. |

however, im pretty sure they were brazilian based on appearance, thong bikinis and the guys they were with. brazilians are not hard to spot as they have specific body types, and were very likely them and not from the US. i'm 90% sure. |

I was out yesterday and it was beautiful and warm, pretty crowed north of the Washington St. pier, but nice and quiet south. I strolled down the beach from the pier toward the marina in a Koala tear-drop g-string. I saw a few women in thongs and g-strings.
I walked back up the beach to Rose Ave. and then cut over to the Venice boardwalk and walked back down to Washington on the boardwalk past the shops, restaurants, and muscle beach. It was pretty crowed and I got a few comments, mostly positive though, posed for a few photos with some nice young women. All in all a fabulous day. Wonderful to be out in the sun. |

I've worn a standard Alphamoda thong all the way up and down the beach and had no problems. I've walked to and from my car, the porta-potties and the regular bathrooms in only a thong and it's a complete non-issue. However if you're going to be wearing one of the exposure suit like a koala, you'll probably want to stick to the nude sections. I've heard of people going nude all the way down the beach, but all of the times that I have been there, I didn't really get the feeling that that would go over well. As far as company, I've seen a few others in thongs/g-strings there and they are generally in or near the nude section. There's a group that plays volleyball on the north end where most of the players are nude. I always join them and play in my thong and no one bats an eye lid. It's a pretty laid back group. So I guess to summarize, feel free to where a standard thong anywhere on the beach, but if you're looking for fellow thongers or wanting to where something less than a typical thong or g, you'll probably want to stick to the nude section.
On a side note, I think I might head out to Baker tomorrow. If you happen to see someone in a light blue thong feel free to drop by and say hi. |

Seacliff/New Brighton beach is a pretty long stretch of sand so there is definitely places where you can go to get away from the crowds. In the past I have seen topless and one woman in a g-string on that stretch of beach. But it is pretty rare. When I was there a couple of weeks ago I only saw 1 woman in a rio back a little south of Seacliff. I wore my thong with little hassle. There were a couple of college aged girls that I caught taking a picture of me but that was about it. As far as Seabright beach (and the beach in front of the boardwalk) I have also seen thongs there in the past, but again, it's not all that common. I went last week and took ran from the light house all the way up past the boardwalk to the hotel just North of it. I saw only one person in less than a standard back bikini; a mom with her child wearing a rio back that got pretty cheeky whenever she took a step. I tanned in my thong for a couple of hours at the south end near the lighthouse without any issue, but then again there was not much traffic down that way either. It's not the greatest thong beach if you are looking for company, but you won't really get hassled for wearing one either.

It's going to be warm, so not sure how long I'll be able to stay on the beach. May have to put a shirt on and go for a walk in my adjustable front and back tan thru suit. You are right, it was crowded with couples, guys and families all the way from the Washington pier to the Marina. Finally settled on a spot between the last 2 guard towers, didn't last too long though as it was to hot and too much sun. So I walked back to the car with a shirt on and still in my adjustable front slide thong. I will stick to the week days to avoid the crowds on 'our' end of the beach.
For now I am back home at the nudist resort where I live and nobody cares. Till next time, Happy Thonging |

My wife was a good sport about it but wanted to leave after an hour (she wears full back bikini). I was ready to leave too. Too many stares

I now go full nude at Sunset Cliffs south of New Break. Access is a hassle, but I usually have the place too myself. |

I do not go to where the crowds are but where i go people do see me. Nobody has ever given me any problems about it. I have yet to see another male thonger but i do see female thongers from time to time.

I like hanging out there but it is a little difficult to get to in my opinion. But that is awesome that you can wear a thong there and not be bothered. I have always wondered how wearing a thong there would be. Now I have a better idea!

Since the status of the Nude Beach has become an issue in recent years with ticketing and harassment by the previous State Parks Leadership, I either go down to the Camp Pendleton side past the fence and go nude or stay on the State Beach side in my thong. This visit was different because there were Military Maneuvers on the beach past the fence so nobody could venture over. Myself and about 10 others stayed on the State Beach side in our thongs. By mid-day, nobody had seen a Ranger at all, and half of us stripped down nude, including myself and a surfer dude with his girlfriend who went topless with a tiny G-string. Since I normally take a walk on the base side nude for exercise, I took my walk in the direction of the other trails, in my thong. Here I realized the other Trails were "closed" which means their parking and access trails were closed but the beach is still open. I walked all the way down to the beach at Trail 3 in my thong and only came across 3 other people who paid me no mind. Since the beach was basically deserted, I returned from Trail 3 all the way back to Trail 6 nude but with my Thong handy just in case. It was amazing. I wish it could be like this always. By the end of the day, the majority of the thongers were nude in the old Trail 6 area and nobody passing through on foot, bike, or military helicopter seemed to mind. When I left, I walked back up the cliff in my thong, showered in the parking lot in my thong, and suited up for the drive home after a relaxing day. I can't wait to go back again. If you're not comfortable with the nude beach situation, thongs are a great option here and parking is plentiful off-season. Though I was nude part of the day, I still enjoyed thonging long enough to get a bit of a thong tan line.

I haven't been to San Onofre for quite some time, I live in Goodyear AZ but love that beach. I would were skimpy shorts from the parking lot to the beach and strip to a skimpy suit and either go nude with a ring or where a thong, or string bikini. Most people would enjoy the beach nude.

It's the time of year where it's mostly locals and few tourists so the beach is sparsely populated. Large berms of sand have been put up in preparation for any winter storms as there are homes basically on the sand. This adds a little more privacy to an otherwise wide open beach. Wore one of my black thongs that are not see through and perfectly legal on southern California beaches. Set up with lots of open space between myself and anyone else. Some families or couples walking the beach came near my area but none stayed very long. All in all, a great day to grab some November sunshine. Took a dip in the ocean, walked past some mixed groups on my way to and from the water. Not many cared except for a group of about 6 or 8 ladies who seemed to be drinking wine and enjoying some girl time. Got some cat calls out of them so I stopped by to ask what they thought of my suit. Most were shocked that I came their way but two said they liked it and wished more guys would wear them out here in straight-laced Orange County.

Most cops don't want to hassle people or do the paper work so IF someone puts in a complaint they will often speak to the individual to assess the situation and if they feel warranted will often simply ask you to go home. This has never happened to me nor have I ever seen it happen but I know it from police friends. The only times I've seen cops stopping to talk to people it always involves beer. Always. If you look fit you can thong anywhere, no one will bother you. More accepting beaches or more visible thongs: Malibu/Dume, North Santa Monica, southern Santa Monica/north Venice, all of Venice, Venice/Marina del Rey, El Segundo, South Redondo, south long beach, south bolsa chica/north Huntington, Dohene, San Clemente, San onofre, and south Oceanside all the way down San Diego county to imperial beach, particularly around central to north La Jolla.
