Re:California Beaches Date Posted:05/26/2016 04:33:05Copy HTML San onofre is still good. I've been going down there recently in just a thong and no one bothers me. I was actually complimented just the other day on how nice I looked :) Of course some people will stare but there actually hasn't been very many people down there as of late, and no one has said anything negative to me.Hopefully more thongers will show up as the summer progresses, let's make that beach ours >:D

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:06/09/2016 01:24:45Copy HTML There's no problem wearing a thong on South Carlsbad State Beach. I did so last October. I saw women in thongs and some topless. There are pictures of me with two of them in my Images section. I walked up the stairs to use the restrooms in the RV park that's on the cliffs wearing only my thong. No one cared. There was plenty of room on the beach and not many people.
By contrast, Carlsbad State Beach seemed crowded (with families) when I looked from the parking lot. I never went on the beach there because I don't especially care for crowds and noise - although it could be that there was more room away from the parking lot area. |

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:07/05/2016 08:37:15Copy HTML Returned to San Onofre this past weekend. What a difference a year + since I've been there. Took a Sunday afternoon drive and arrived around 1PM just as the clouds were burning off. All the overnight camping sites were booked for the July 4th weekend. Though it was mid-day Sunday, there were more empty parking spaces than cars in the Trail 6 parking lot. As per usual, I stripped down to the Thong in the parking lot and walked down to the Trail 6 section which is the old nude beach. Not a single individual person in this section. It was completely deserted. Depressing but if you like a quiet chill spot, this is it. The families with dogs down on 6 don't even walk down this spot anymore. From there I walked into the Military Base past the fence and the sign that states such. Walked the full length of the beach and nobody minds thongs in that section because most are nude. Saw about 100 people, 60/40 male/female ratio. 90/10 nude ratio. Other than myself, 4 men in thongs for at least part of the day. As it heated up, I stripped down nude till almost Sunset. Never saw a Military vehicle or a Park Ranger in this section, just Lifeguards near the Trail 6 guardhouse. End of the day, walked back up the trail to the showers in the thong. Showered in the public shower near the restrooms in the thong, walked back to the car in the thong. Novice thongers aren't likely to walk the whole track in thong, but it's a good place to start thonging. All in all, Trail 6 is a place to thong in peace and private if you want to work on that thong tanline. Nobody cared, said a word to me other than Hello.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:07/29/2016 11:19:20Copy HTML Went out to Bolsa Chica / Sunset Beach. Paid for the $15 day parking at Bolsa and then drove all the way to the North end of the parking lot toward Sunset. Lots of people out on the bike paths, the sand, and the water. I think a good number trying to avoid the crowds at Huntington due to the US Open surf contest. Also a good number looking like they parked there to ride over in bikes to Huntington.
Anyway, I parked near the restrooms and changed into my G-string. Walked out to the sand towards Sunset Beach. This beach is so wide and open that you can really have your own space. I set up closer to the homes on the end of Sunset. There was no other beach goers set up near me at 10 AM. As the day got warmer, groups of teens, families couples and singles spread out between the water and the homes. I made sure to lay out face down so folks were not surprised by my attire. Those couples and families who chose to set up near me didn't seem to mind. Lifeguards came by in trucks and didn't seem to mind. One fellow walked up near me to strike up a conversation, asking if it was legal to wear the G. I let him know I hadn't been bothered yet. As the day got warmer I got into the water. I caught a few people holding longer glances as I was walking to and from the shore. No comments from anyone. I saw most men wearing board shorts, a few in square cuts and more than a few in Speedos but none in things or minimal swimwear. I did see several other young ladies in cheeky bikinis, a few things and one true G-string. |

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:07/31/2016 04:01:09Copy HTML First One, I lay out at Newport Beach all the time where thongs are totally legal. I know they are legal in Huntington Beach as well. I am sure where you were at was fine too as you got no hassles.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:08/11/2016 05:15:59Copy HTML Currently at Crystal Cove, it's beautiful with not many people, and the walk from the parking lot is really short. No one seems bothered by me, but the only other person wearing a thong out here was a girl doing a photo shoot.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:08/14/2016 05:43:25Copy HTML Crystal Cove is indeed a nice place to thong. Never too crowded, easy to get to and from the parking lot. Such a wide section on the end that you can easily have your own space. Space to thong in peace without being bothering anyone who's not cool with it.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:08/18/2016 03:30:39Copy HTML I have never thonged at Crystal Cove although I live fairly close to it. I will have to try it sometime. Main reason I do not is because you have to pay for parking and I live much closer to Newport Beach where I can thong there without traveling nearly as far. I can even ride my bike to Newport Beach when I want. Crystal Cove is a nice beach and very spread out. I can see how it can be a good thonging spot.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:08/30/2016 01:50:11Copy HTML Went out to Santa Monica this week. Super easy to use the new Metro Expo line to get to the beach from Downtown LA. THE RIDE OVERALL IS A GOOD 45 MINUTES but it sure beats sitting in traffic and paying $20 or more for parking at the lots that are closest to the beach. $7 day pass is the actual cost for round trip.
When you get off at the end of the line, Downtown Santa Monica station is about 4 short blocks from the pier and the park above the beach. You still need to walk a bit to get to the sand but it's easy and on paved sidewalks or stairs. Once I finally got down to the sand, I found a spot that seemed to be set away from others for some chill time. There are large expanses of sand away from the water line that you can sun in silence. It truly is a tourist beach with every type of international and local visitor. I saw everything from European Men in speedo cuts, Latin women in Brazilian style bottoms, American Dudes in dork shorts, local model-types in Boutine bottoms that are most like thongs. As I laid out face up and face down in my black thong, nobody in the direct vicinity seemed to mind. Later in the day as the beach grew more crowded, groups of kids made tracks through all parts of the sand. I got some giggles from some local teens but they kept walking without any real bother. When I needed to cool off and took a brief walk down into the water, there was much head turning and elbow nudging. I am pretty sure I ended up in some cell phone photos. The Lifeguards and PD on vehicle made their way past me multiple times without incident. Over at the showers was the only place anyone said anything directly to me. A bunch of Sorority Girls taking a break from playing volleyball sent two girls over to ask for a photo. I knew they just wanted a photo of my ass so I turned and posed. The whole group erupted in cheers so I think it was either a dare or a scavenger hunt. Nothing derogatory going on, they said thanks, one gave me a high five and one of them gave me a hug! In general, a good day at the more crowded section of this busy beach with lots of time in the sun. I think there are so many tourists at Santa Monica north of the pier that people just go with it. If I were to have ventured south of the pier into muscle beach I think things might have been different. |

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:10/02/2017 01:38:55Copy HTML What are the best beaches in California (Los Angeles, San Diego, etc.) for thonging? My girlfriend & I are planning a trip for earlyNovember. She has never worn a thong in public, so she would only feelcomfortable doing so with the company of a good number of other women whoare relatively around her age (18-40). Are there any beaches in California in which thongs would be fairly common in earlyNovember, and if so, which ones?

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:10/02/2017 04:06:54Copy HTML M456, two places where my wife grew more comfortable in wearing her thong bikini bottoms due to the overall number of other ladies wearing bottoms baring their buns. (1) Venice Beach on the Marina-Del-Rey side. (North of the pier to the jetty. It's sort of an anything-goes mentality. This is where I have seen the most men wearing things as well. (2) Victoria Beach near Laguna. Even I have been surprised at the ratio of buns to full bottoms at this Beach. Seems to just be the style for the youngsters in this part of town. They are not as accepting of men in things at Victoria due to the number of young men searching out the young ladies. For the men, dork shorts are the norm at Victoria. If you're visiting San Diego, I don't care what you're up to, Blacks is the place to get comfortable in whatever you want to wear or not wear.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:10/02/2017 04:27:43Copy HTML It might be a bit chilly that time of year, but Baker Beach is a winner for thonging with both sexes. That's in the San Francisco area. Another recommendation is San Onofre Beach, near San Clemente, California. As far as getting no tan lines, I'd recommend Deanza Springs in Jacumba, California. Happy thonging!

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:10/11/2017 11:40:55Copy HTML Northern California:
Baker beach and Muir beach are both pretty good. Muir is way more family oriented than Baker so I go over to the small cove / nude beach whenever I thong. Baker Beach towards the nude section gets crowded with mostly men. Stay closer to the parking lots and you should be ok. Southern California: I've been to San Onofre near Beach Trail #1. Pretty solid place, it's nice and quiet, but the small rocks on the sand make it hard on your feet when you want to go in for a swim. Venice Beach - Solid place, young crowd. Newport Beach - Also solid place. Carlsbad Beach (near San Diego) was great and not that crowded. Lifeguard presence is strong in Venice/Newport so the more extreme g-strings on men may get some attention, not sure since I don't really push those limits.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:10/12/2017 08:47:06Copy HTML I've only been there once and very briefly, but Baker Beach is the one right next to the Golden Gate bridge. The general vibe with respect to nudity and/or thongs seems very good there, but do beware that it's busy place with lots of people sight seeing and shooting photos, mostly of each other, the bridge, etc., particularly in the evenings.
When I stopped there several years ago, there were multiple professional photographers shooting photos of Chinese couples dressed in wedding attire. That's really just a testament to the scenery you have there. As others have said, it's rarely very warm there. The couples in wedding dresses and tuxes might actually find themselves more comfortable than those in swimwear. If you're tolerant of a bit of wind and chill and comfortable being seen by lots of people, it's a great place. |

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:03/22/2018 02:31:06Copy HTML I'm planning on going to Blacks beach first weekend of May. Also interested in thongs vs. nude. Is there an area that's considered "gay"?

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:03/22/2018 03:32:40Copy HTML Hi guys To answer all the above questions.
1) Like any beach thongs are few and far between. You might be the only one 2) % of nude to swimwear varies. It’s the gay beach as well as the nude beach so some days only half are nude. Other days almost everyone nude 3) gay is the north end of the beach. Right from glider port stairs or from the goat trail Will be obvious even on a quiet day because of guys only at a certain point. Though some straight couples lay out in the gay area of the beach. Some of them because the woman doesn’t get hassled by the gay guys. And some because they can be more exhibitionist or sexual in the gay area. |

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:03/23/2018 03:46:01Copy HTML Yes. Go for it. I’ve gone down the trail in speedos and have gone all the way to the top naked before putting something on to get across the parking lot. Wouldn’t thong on the stairs from the glider port though.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:01/25/2020 12:11:48Copy HTML Hey everyone! I will be headed to California for vacation in three weeks. Any thong friendly areas in the Anaheim or Los Angeles area? Also looking for good stores that sell men's thongs (underwear and swimwear). Would love to hit up some stores and shop for thongs because I normally only get the chance to buy online. Thanks!

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:01/25/2020 07:52:17Copy HTML CDNThongLover, there's lots of threads talking about the Orange County & LA County beaches, you can find lots more details. In my opinion (and seems to be widely shared) Marina Del Rey (Just south of Venice) is the most accepting beach in the area -- I was told by a lifeguard that a baggie would be okay, basically just don't be nude. Long Beach is probably the closest to Anaheim, however last I checked wearing a thong was not technically legal -- however as long as you're talking about a regular to bulge style you'd be fine here too -- I did for may years and only when I tried a c-string did I get hassled because I think someone reported me as nude. Second to MDR I'd recommend the north part of Newport beach -- a younger more accepting college crowd hangs out here and likely you'll see gals in thongs. My 3rd choice would be Sunset beach (far north end of Huntington Beach). The other LA beaches are great (Redondo, etc.) but difficult to get to, especially if you're coming from Anaheim.

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:01/25/2020 09:41:51Copy HTML Hey CDN. I lived in LosAngeles for many years and know the beaches. My favorite is both MDR and even more so Playa Del Rey. Very chill and accepting. The sand is nice and wide. It may be a little too cold to go beaching until late March. If you don’t mind driving a bit there is El Matadore and La Piedra in Malibu. Absolutely spectacular and thong friendly. Many movies have been filmed here. Look it up on the web. Also look at the thread on this board on MDR. It will give you specifics on where to park. Lots of good info there. Enjoy your time!

Surprisingly few people in the area I was in for a Labor Day weekend. 1 other gentleman wearing a thong. Many of the women were wearing. |

Re:California Beaches Date Posted:06/17/2026 05:04:54Copy HTML My wife and I just got back from an 8 day road trip. Living in the Santa Cruz area I see quite a few thongs on women and even several men. Our trip took us to Santa Barbara, La Jolla, San Diego, Venice Beach and the desert. When I'm at Seabright in Santa Cruz there's probably around 30 percent of women in thongs. On the main beach by the boardwalk where there's more out of towners that probably drops to 15 percent. We didn't walk the beach in Venice but did walk up by the shops. It was a weekday and not very crowded. We could see several women on the beach in thongs. In Santa Barbara it was at least half of the women wearing thongs or g-strings. In La Jolla on a Friday the beach was packed and at least half of the women wearing thongs. I can safely say that Southern California definitely has the edge over Northern California on the amount of people wearing thongs. |
