I've been there several times and while female thongs and topless is common, I've never seen it with men. But the vibe there is very chill and quiet. I think it's pretty much live and let live.

Thanks for the response! I have looked at pictures and unfortunately your description looks to be dead on. I will for sure get a vibe of the place and hopefully there will be more speedos at least. That always helps us thongers alittle. I won’t wear anything more than a bikini though. What was your experience while there as far as minimal swimwear?

This is many years old, so don't take it as gospel, but when I was last in Tulum it was definitely an "anything goes" atmosphere. Can't speak for the Catalonia, but on all the beaches anywhere near where I was a thong was absolutely no problem, and after several days I saw a sign that said "swimsuits optional beyond this point", so that was the end of my thong wearing. No problems.

Thanks DavyJ, hopefully it’s good vibe! This resort is pretty much on its own little beach with local beach/ restaurants spots just a short walk on both sides. Being an Adults only I don’t think I’ll have any problems! But I also know I’ll probably be the only male in a thong. Hoping there are more Speedos around to help me blend in

That's a great little romantic beach hotel. Very Chill and I have thonged there with my wife several times. Always been the only man in a thong but no issues ever! Let me know if you have any questions about it

I recently visited this resort with my wife a few weeks ago and just wanted to give a report of what it was like. This resort is about a 1 1/2 hours south of the resort and it’s away from all the hustle and bustle of Cancun and Playa del Carmen. We chose this resort because it was a Adult only resort and it wasn’t surrounded by multiple resorts. It has a perfect stretch of beach for walking but also very secluded especially in certain areas. Because I wasn’t totally sure what it will be like I brought a wide variety of G strings, thongs, bikinis, speedos. Checking in at the desk I looked back and there was a lady walking through the main lobby in a thong. The main lobby is pretty far from the beach so I’m not sure what she was doing but I knew that was a great sign! Haha the beach and water were absolutely perfect and they only had 1 main pool but that was totally fine for me. Smaller resort is nice because everyone is in 1 area. I realized right off the bat first day I probably won’t be walking around in my thongs throughout the resort. I looked around and only saw maybe 4 or 5 guys wearing anything kinda of small. Just 2-3 speedos and 2-3 square cuts. All the rest were shorts. Bummer.. so my choice of swimwear were skinz bikinis with half inch sides and normal coverage on the rears. I had g strings and string thongs underneath the entire time. For going to the bar, swimming, walking etc I kept the bikinis on and didn’t get much reaction. Just a few smiles and one lady totally disapproving of my bikini. Haha she shaking her head. Other than that nobody even noticed or cared. When I laid in the chairs at the pool and beach however, I stripped down to my g strings and string thong with a triangle back. Surprisingly I never saw one person take a second glance while I laid out. These were pretty small but nobody seemed to care. Only a coulple times I laid on my stomach to tan my buns. My wife said most people passed by not really noticing but a few older ladies were laughing. A couple times I walking the beach away from the resort I stripped to my thongs and g string. I passed a few couple here and there and got some stares but nothing too bad. Mid week there was only 1 guy i noticed tanning in a bikini with small sides. He never walked around in just that, and always put shorts on to go somewhere. I enjoyed myself and even though it’s not the best place to thong for a guy, you could still thong without too much hassle. I didn’t push it. As for the ladies…. Thongs EVERYWHERE! 70-80 % were in some kind of thong. Great to see that and I loved the variety. One piece thongs, string thongs, conservative thongs, one g string. We were next to a public beach and many locals came out and every lady had a thong on that I could see. I was please to see that at our resort there was a couple topless ladies everyday but at the secluded parts of the beach and public beaches I saw probably another 5-6 couple laying out topless. Overall I would definitely return. Hopefully the next time more guys will wear less so I’m not the only one holding the fort down. Lol

I will be traveling to Catalonia the 1st week of October with my wife and plan on at least wearing my thong while laying on the beach but would like to wear it all around the pool area. I would like to see some others in a thong so I dont end up looking so out of place. Otherwise ill probably be in a bikini or square cut to walk around. Is anybody else going this week? Be nice to have some thong company.

It's always a good thong spot. Heading down there today! Don't sweat it just go for it. There is so much lady ass on display there these days it's amazing! Good for topless too

You will love it. It’s very laid back and yes you will probably be the only guy in a thong, but it all depends on if you’re ok with that or if you want to blend in more. I decided to throw on bikini covers walking around to the bars, beach walking swimming in the pool. Reason for that was there were only 2-3 other guys wearing squarecuts and speedos. My bikinis were definitely the smallest male suits that whole week we were there. However I stripped down to a g strings and thongs everytime I laid out at the beach and pool for tanning. I had zero issues or even looks when I laid on my back, so all was good. Only a few times I flipped over to tan my buns. On some of the walks away from the resort I’d strip off my bikini and walk in my thongs passing a few people. You will see tons of women thonging and quite a few topless down the beach to the public areas. It’s a great site! If more guys had speedos/bikinis on I would have walked around in my thongs more. It’s totally up to you and how comfortable you are.

I'm here at CRT now and decided to wear my thong today and am definatly the only guy in a thong with some others in speedo or squarecuts. My weamwear choice has gotton progressivly more revealing as the week has gone by and so far no comments or strange looks that uve seen. On the other hand, neaely half the females are in very cheeky bottoms or tradional thongs with a few in small g-strings. Only 2 females topless and they stayed in their chairs and put their tops back on to get in the water. Definetly accepting of thongs for anybody, you just might be the only male in a thong

That’s exactly the experience I had as well. I thought I would have seen more speedos at least being an adults only resort but not the case. I didn’t walk around in my thong, I only laid out in my thongs and g strings but put a bikini cover on all around the resort. No strange looks or laughing that I could tell. Everyone was minding their own while there. Have you walked down to the public beaches yet? Lots of locals in thongs and a few topless. On some days I’m pretty sure 75% of the women had g strings, thongs and cheekies on at least. It was amazing. Some days were better than others
