car57, that's very encouraging to hear! My wife would also be leery, for the same reasons as yours. She would also probably have a similar response as your if she heard other women give me compliments - mine might even get a little jealous too LOL

Just returned from a cruise on the Celebrity Beyond with the wife. We were there for her annual conference as a travel agent. I wore a thong every day by the pool and on the one excursion we went on to a beach in Cozumel; lots of approving smiles! Had absolutely no issues. Saw probably 10 guys in bikinis and a couple square cuts, but that's it. Wife and I ended up eating dinner with one of the guys who wore a square cut, and his wife, turns out they like frequent c/o beaches like we do.

I hope that is my report after my wife and I go on Carnival for 5 nights in April next year!!

So I’m going on my first cruise in almost 30 years…. A friend of mines wife had to cancel due to work, so he offered her slot to me. So it will him, his 6-7 year old son and I. In the time since my last cruise I was introduced to thongs and have never looked back…LoL While I have no problem thinking about wearing a smaller brief style suit on this cruise, (and I have told my friend I plan on doing so) this seemed like one of the better places to get some info on wearing a thong. I absolutely want to do it, and am planning to discuss it with my friend too before we depart. We may slip up on some of the port days as I’m more of a beach and water person vs land tourist. So figure I will have a lot more time to wear my suit. Will be sailing on the Royal Caribbean “Symphony of the Seas” . Ports of Call will be.. Cozumel, Roatan, Belize, and Puerto Costa Maya. I’m considering taking a snorkeling excursion possibly a scuba one in Belize if the cost is reasonable. I have simple Desmiit Solid color thongs, and 2 “fun” prints, but nothing wild. Just want to enjoy the sun and relax, Be a positive ambassador for those of us who enjoy wearing thongs and not the creep who makes us look bad. Any info from those with experience would be greatly appreciated. :-) Thanks!

I have been on Symphony of the Seas. It’s a nice ship. The last time I was on the ship I wore thong swimwear on the top deck over looking the pool most days with no problems. I did part of one day at the pool wearing a thong. I got a many more not so happy looks from the men in their boardshorts than I liked and move back up to the railing above the pool where I had more positive feedback.

On the beach in Cozumel I’ve never had a issue with wearing a thong. Costa Maya’s beach is there for the cruise ships. I didn’t do a beach day there and instead went out to see the Mayan ruin, which were wonderful.

The time I was in Roatan I was never really comfortable and didn’t go to the beach. Instead I opted to head back to the ship and hang out around the pool.

Belize, the reef is amazing. If you can get underwater do it. My scuba time there had 100+ foot visibility with abundant marine life. I would recommend wearing a bikini/Speedo style suit on the dive boat, Only because your fellow divers many not be as comfortable as you and I are with thongs. If I wear doing a live-aboard dive adventure I’d have no problem wearing a thong. A cruise ship excursion is a different animal.

While on the cruise ship you will very quickly realize you are one one of a handful of men wearing something a little more revealing, and if in a thong you will most likely be the only one. At least that has been my experience.

You will most likely see a few women in thong bikinis on the ship, but more cheeky and rio cuts will dominate the scene. Your chioce of swimwear should be fine. As always I suggest that you be confident, smile, be friendly and have a good time. That has always work well for me, on a ship filled with mostly Americans that have never seen a man in a thong, and most never in brief/Speedo/square cut swimwear. Enjoy your adventure.

Well tomorrow is the big day! I set sail on the Royal Caribbean “Symphony of the Seas” on my first cruise in over 30 years… I really hope Rapidblue is correct! I brought nothing but 1/2” sided low rise briefs and a few thongs. As mentioned before rather conservative Desmiit thongs, butt…thongs non the less… Lol :-) Wish me luck and if Rapid or anyone else has more info or advice, please do share it. If I don’t get a chance to wear my thong, will be pretty funny on my first day swimming laps… I’m the only guy who regularly (ok always) wears a thong… Could be a bit strange rocking a Speedo tan when I’m sporting a thong… LoL

Have a good time in your cruise. Remember you will likely be the only man wearing a thong. Additionally there will only be a very few men in bikini/Speedo style suits. Like always being confident, friendly and smiling will win you points. I look forward to reading about your experience.

I did wear a thong on the cruise! Now I didn't wear it as much as I should've but I DID WEAR IT!  So what did I do and how did it go?

Now we are only talking about times/places/activities where one would normally wear a bathing suit. Sure some would like to wear a swimsuit EVERYWHERE on the ship but let's keep it real here.

RapidBlue was 100% correct I didn't see a single other man in a brief the whole trip so I got to be THAT GUY.. to the rest of the cruisers ...LoL!!

I didn't bring a single pair of board shorts with me, not one, only briefs and thongs. The briefs were solid color (Navy & Charcoal Gray) Gary Majdell "Ultra Greek", my thongs were (Navy and Black) Desmitt.

The ship was the "Serenade of the Seas" from Royal Caribbean. I wore the bikini for the first day (was a sea day) and had no issues at all. I wore it in the main pool, hot tubs, and the sun decks. I didn't hide, did a few laps around the walking track too, all good.

First Port of Call (PoC) was Cozumel. I just found a private spot along the way to a beach resort (just told the cab to pull over and let me out). Since I was alone I just wore the Desmitt thong, since it was a secluded bit of beach and I thought I would not be seen by anyone.
To my surprise I wasn't there 5 min and a girl on a bicycle rides up, parks her bike, takes off the sarong she was wearing and starts walking my direction.. I about died... Even thought I've been swimming laps 4-5 days a week back home for months now in thongs, this was my first time to be seen in public outdoors.

The water was really close to the tree line so you wouldn't see my spot until you were super close. I don't think she saw me so as she walked my way I said "Hello" so I wouldn't scare her. I told her I was surprised to see her. Said that I didn't think I would see another person at that spot. I was so nervous (why I really don't know) that I told her I hope she's not bothered by my swimwear and would cover up if it made her uncomfortable in any way. Thankfully she responded it was totally fine :-)

We ended up hanging out for the next few hours as I let her use my snorkeling gear for a while. I couldn't help but notice that she too was also wearing a nice black thong :-) So first PoC was a complete success and was able to get more sun than I had in the bikini and I officially ended the day with thong tan lines!!

Due to poor scheduling of events didn't even get to the beach at the next PoC. 3rd PoC was Belize City. There I signed up for a multi hr multi stop Snorkeling trip. I did show up wearing the bikini under my shorts, and the thong was in my bag. The group was between 30-40 people most probably in their 30's maybe 3 in their early teens, and a dozen late 40s, early 50's. We rode in a center counsel type tour boat. 15 or so people along each side and the rest on a few seats up the middle.
The first stop was to a Beach Bar called the "Lazy Lizard". There we got our snorkeling gear and were told it’s the last stop to use the bathroom. We were able to change, get a quick snack before heading to the first snorkel spot. On the boat I sat next to two nice girls. On the 20 min ride we had a great conversation about the trip in general. At that point I decided to just verbally test the waters about a thong.

As we were getting off the boat I kind of said, just loud enough so they could here me, like I was thinking out loud, "Ohhhh man, I don't know if I can do this or not.....But it is a lot". They turned around and said, "Do what? go snorkeling?"

I said no, I have a bet with a friend of mine, but I don't know if I can do it or not. (The bet is a great icebreaker as who doesn't love a good bet??). So of course they asked what the bet was. I told them it was to wear a small bathing suit. With a cute smile one of them said, "What wear a speedo? Go for it."  I replied, "No something a little smaller." She smiled and said, "What a bikini?", I said "Nnooo smaller...a thong." They both smiled and she said, "You're on vacation, go for it, nobody here's gonna care." With that I decided to go for it.

I changed my suit under my shorts and got back on the boat. Didn't tell them I changed, just got back on the boat with the group and kept the conversation casual until we go to the first spot. Can't lie my heart was beating a little harder than normal as everyone was taking off their non swimming layers and starting to get in the water. The time had come. The girls were next to me getting ready. I took a deep breath and said aloud. "Well here goes nothing...you only live once." and removed my shorts. Of course the two girls had to look. They had really BIG SMILES and almost in unison said, "Wow you went for it!!" One of them said "You look good, have fun!!" 
No reaction from the rest of the boat, they were all busy getting in the water. No reaction, Nothing. No big deal. 

I got in the water. After a while I came around one side of the boat and put my feet down to stand and adjust my mask. As I was doing that a lady behind me on the boat said " I Love your suit..." She said it rather loudly and I turned around to see who she was talking too. We made eye contact she said "I love your suit. Thank you for manscaping first."
I had to laugh as I really didn't expect the last part. I said "THANK YOU, I appreciate that, a friend bet me I couldn't do it."

The two girls were on the boat next to her and they looked over at her as she spoke. She then said to them, "I got a full on look too, I was looking at the bottom and ended up swimming right up to him before I looked up and got a FULL VIEW OF EVERYTHING" Hearing this I looked back that way and said, "I hope it's not bothering anyone." Another women on the boat with a big smile said, "You look great, can I take your picture?" She had a DSLR with a huge lens. I said "Sure knock yourself out, I could use one for proof."

Did the whole rest of the day on and off the snorkeling boat, at three different snorkeling stops wearing nothing but a thong. Everyone the boat had to know, but not a single negative vibe detected. I even swam down to the bottom a few times (15-20ft) so if anyone happened to be looking my direction, I'm sure they saw me.

I had put my shorts and t-shirt in a bag and placed it under my seat for the day. Needless to say with all the activity it all got soaked. So when we got back to the "Lazy Lizard" for lunch, since the group appeared to be totally cool with my suit. I hung my shirt and shorts over the back of a seat to dry in the sun and went ashore still in nothing but my suit and sunglasses. All good...

Best part: We were dressed and back at the main terminal waiting for the tender to take us back to the boat. I told the girls I would be right back as I was going to change out my suit as it was still a little damp. The woman standing on the other side of me leaned in and said, "There was another older woman with the tour and You definitely made her day. She couldn't take her eyes off you, she was all hot and bothered, fanning herself, and probably has a lot of pictures too." I asked if I had offended the hot and bothered lady and she said "OH NO, she really liked what she saw."  I had to giggle and said, well I'm just happy nobody was offended.

So a full day in a thong and all positive responses. What else could you ask for??

Last day was a sea day. I thought to myself, "Its been all good so far and being the last day, what's the worst they could do?  Ask me to go back to briefs?"  So I spent the whole day out on deck to get sun, wearing my Desmitt thong. I mostly stayed on the sun deck above/around the pool. I got a chair next to the two girls from the day before. Nothing negative picked up by them or me, just a chill day in the sun. Got a few drinks from the SkyBar and even went down by the pool to chat with some other friends I had made on the trip.

Over all I'd say it was a complete success. Keeping the suit simple, acting normal, being friendly and confident. 
No speedo tan lines to worry about when back to swimming laps tomorrow.
If I cruise again I will absolutely brining my thongs!!

Congratulations on having a great cruise and a wonderful experience wearing a thong while on your vacation. I love your report about wearing a thong being confident and friendly and the reactions you received from those around you. I hope this gave you a considerable confidence boost. I’m not surprised that you were the only man in a brief and thong. I’m equally not surprised by the reaction you got from the women you encountered. My own experiences are quite similar. Cozumel is an easy and place to wear a thong, even on the more populated beaches. I’ve always seen many women in thong bikinis there. I hope the reefs of Belize were as beautiful as I remember. Again, great report about s wonderful experience.

I've found it a to be a non threatening icebreaker. If people are OK with it, they will encourage you to win the bet. Just had another great experience on a cruise ship and wearing a thong. Wife and I had a freebie short cruise on Royals new Wonder of the Seas; benefits of her being a travel agent. Cruise was a short two night ride out to their private island in the Bahamas. I never wore anything but a thong with absolutely zero issues but several smiles. I saw some guys in bikini styles and a couple square cuts but no other thongs. On the last night as we were heading back to P-Can the wife and I went out to the hot tub and pool. I had walked over to the bar to get us drinks and while standing there a group of women were coming back from dinner and I saw them do a double-take after seeing my thong. They walked up and one of them must have told me 5 times that I had the cutest f-ing buns. They then proceeded to take pictures with me with each one putting her hand on my ass as I was standing there at the bar. Great boost in self-confidence! The wife saw and heard the whole thing from the hot tub and just sat there laughing and shaking her head.

Updating this cruise thread since we just got back home yesterday. Wife and I did a back2back on the RCCL Voyager of the Seas sailing from San Juan. The first week we had my son, his fiancee, daughter, a friend, granddaughter and another couple all with us. Whenever I had time without the others up by the pool or snorkeling, I was wearing a thong. After the first week it was just the wife, myself and the other couple. She and my wife wore thongs, cheeky or g-string bottoms all the second week. There were so many women in thongs and g-strings that bare butt cheeks was the majority for the women/young ladies on the ship. As for guys in thongs, it was myself everyday and my friend on several days. Once we sent the kids back I never put on more than a thong on the ship and walked all over even to stateroom without a cover. Lots of compliments and smiles all week. On the excursions I also only wore a thong except in SXM where we wore nothing! On an excursion at the beach in Grenada I put a cover up on (Square cut suit) to walk up to the bar....wife insisted. While walking to the bar I heard 2 women complaining about the cover up! Told the young one to share her thoughts with my wife and she did. Needless to say, no more cover up. I was kinda concerned what the reaction would be on this cruise with such a large portion of the passengers being from Puerto Rico, but those concerns quickly faded. If you're going on a cruise, wear your thong proudly. Sure there were some snickers but the positive looks and comments, requests to take a photo with me, all far out-weighed the negative.

I'm taking a cruise for the 1st time with my wife this weekend leaving Miami. My daughter works for Virgin Atlantic Voyages and got us a discount rate. Anyway, I don't know what to except if I wear a thong. VAV is geared for a younger crowd and should be more friendly to thongs. I have packed several g-strings, one conservative red thong, a one piece thong bodysuit and a regular full bottom Nike swim bikini. Covering all my bases, just in case. Also planning to wear skorts and skirts during the trip. Any advice out there? I'm a little nervous about how I will be viewed by my fellow sailors.

My wife and I are headed out for a 5 night Bahamas cruise next week. I hope to blaze the trail with the guys wearing thongs but hope to see lots of women already sporting them. Of course I will report back all the success stories. And probably some new picts.

My Virgin Voyages cruise was a great time. However, I didnot have the nerve to wear my thong. I chickened out since my daughter is a member of the entertainment staff. I wore my Nike sports speedo. I did see quite a few ladies in thongs and cheeky cut bottoms at the pool and on the Bimini Beach club site. I did see one lady in a black one piece thong unitard swimsuit. Most of the guys wore board shorts or mid thigh trunks. I did see a few other guys wearing speedo type bottoms similar to mine.

We got back from our Bahama cruise this week and enjoyed it all in thongs. Great trip. More to come and will add a couple pictures.

Last month my wife and I took our second cruise. This time it was on Carnival and we did a five day cruise to the Bahamas. It was a great cruise and the weather was perfect for us. We had two days of cruising and two days with on shore excursions. Plenty of sun! The ship we were on had three different levels of the adult only section which they call the Serenity decks. It included its own pool, hot tub, and bar. We started our first day right being around the pool area with drinks and sun. It got warm so we ended up in the pool for a little bit. While my wife doesn’t wear thongs I certainly wore them the whole time we were on the cruise. On a couple days, I arranged a selection for her to pick which one I would wear that day. We even had conversations about which one would complement or match up with her swimsuit of the day as well. I thought this was amusing at times as we’ve never had that conversation before. I wear my normal thongs, which are not super minimal like my G strings, but they’re certainly not the conservative ones like a Desmit style. I always wear the colorful ones as well as I enjoy wearing them. Overall, I didn’t hear one word from anyone on the cruise about what kind of swimsuit I wore. There were a few second looks but that was it. We had some older ladies set up next to us and chatted with us for a thoughout the day on one of our cruise days. I think the reason they chose our area was the view of the water… On the first couple days, I would put my short shorts on and go to the bar for drinks or to the bathroom. Later in the days, though, I would just go without it and the last full day of cruising, I never covered up. While we were in the water on the private island (Half Moon Cay) we were talking to a group of girls and they complimented me on my swimsuit choice and style. My wife told them that she picked it out for me as it complemented her suit. I did have have one guy at ship deck bar that asked me if I normally wore thongs and how I did it. He said also that he had worn one once along with a bunch of guys on a bachelor event but that was it. He wanted to wear one again but didn’t seem to have the courage to pull the trigger. He complimented me on my openness and courage to wear them and I encouraged him just try it sometime and fake the confidence if he had to. While, we really stayed on the Serenity decks which is the adult area. I really didn’t see any other people in thongs, but when we went to the private island that Carnival has there were a few women wearing them and I seemed to be the only man in one. I only saw one other guy in a bikini and one in a square cut. I had my wife take a couple snapshots of me in my various thongs and I flagged down a cute girl in a bikini to take a couple pictures of us on the island. I’m so thankful that she is very open to me doing my thing. I posted a few in my new “Cruise” album. We did have the all you can drink package and enjoyed having that. I must say that my wife’s recommendation of drinking a bottle of water with each of our drinks really helped sustain us throughout the day. At night the Alchemy bar was a superb experience. This is where the drink masters are and there is a regular crowd that gathers up there every night and enjoys handcrafted mixed drinks. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and would definitely go on another one on Canival. The prior one that we went on was on Royal Caribbean and it was a weeklong one with our kids and friends but it was a Mediterranean one in which we had five or so different ports and was always on the move. This one was so much more laid-back plus we had no kids!

Yeah I agree. Topless should be permitted on the ship in a designated area....I wonder what maritime law states?

My understanding is that on Virgin Voyages they do allow topless on their "perch" area. From their website: "Is there a topless/nude area on board? We have a beautiful sun deck on Deck 17, called The Perch, where you can feel comfortable sunbathing topless at sea." We have a weeklong trip scheduled on VV next year; hoping they don't mind men in thongs next to their topless wives. My guess is they won't and I won't have any issue working on my thong tanline...

mjstacey We just finished a cruise in April, we went to the perch but did not see any topless women but that doesn't mean it is forbidden to do so. As far as totally nude, it is not allowed onboard. Check the ports of call on your trip to see if there are any nude C/O beaches.

That was a seven day cruise in the Mediterranean originating out of Barcelona.

I’m currently on a Holland American ship in Norway. The ship is filled with people 60+++. I’ve never seen so many walkers, wheelchairs and canes in one place in my life. At the pool there isn’t a brief, bikini (sans one younger woman) or cheeky suit in sight. I brought a couple thongs with me but quickly discovered that there is no way to wear one at the pool/hot tub on this ship. My style of dress for the day is next evening is an already pushing the limits for this crowd. I brought a bikini and square cut suit as well and they seem out of place. The number of dirty looks and loudly whispered comments tell me that it’s not appreciated. Next cruise in in the southern Caribbean. You know I’ll have my thong on, sun’s out buns out.

My wife and I really enjoyed our five day carnival cruise in the Caribbean in the spring. As I reported earlier, I wore thongs all the time and never had any negative overt reaction. That was on the Serenity deck, which is 21 and older as well on their private beach when we were there for the day. We’ve already booked another cruise, again sailing out of Charleston South Carolina, for eight days in the spring of next year. I always take a large selection of thongs to pick from depending on my mood of the day. I usually select three or so, and give my wife a pick of which one for me for the day. I really like having her opinion and choice in that as she’s investing in my thong wearing for the day. Her swimsuit is nowhere near risqué, but I think he really appreciates me when I’m laying next to her with hardly a stitch on.! On that cruise this year out of Charleston we did see a few women in thongs on a couple days, a couple guys in square cut, and only one other guy in a conservative bikini. For me and my wife, we really don’t care if others have different opinions as that’s there right and we just let it slide.

So my wife and I just completed our trans-Atlantic cruise on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas. The trip was outstanding and we had an awesome time. As I've posted before, for those of you concerned about wearing a thong on a cruise ship, do not hesitate! I wore nothing but thongs on this 14 day cruise and had zero issues but plenty of positive comments! My thong wearing became the talk of the ship. Early on in the cruise, during the love and marriage show, the wife and I were contestants, my wife mentioned something about me wearing thong swimsuits. Well the cruise director latched on to that one. The next 2 days at sea, the cruise director mentioned to look out for Tom in his thong by the pool! I had lots of guys telling me that they wished they had the courage to do the same. Lots of women saying that they loved it. Some of the gay guys were just nuts over loving the swimsuit; we became pretty close with some of them. It was great but the attention was a bit much; I could not go anywhere without someone saying something or giving me a knowing smile. Even crew members on the ship would mention it since they saw the video of the show replayed on the ship's TV channel. Towards the end of the cruise there was another guy who shed his shorts and wore a thong as well. He was another Floridian. He mentioned to the wife and I one day, leave it to guys from Florida being the ones to bare their tan asses. I had one guy we met from Toronto convinced to try wearing one; I always keep 1 or 2 brand new Desmiit thongs with me when I travel. Unfortunately his wife wouldn't let him go thru with it. Throughout the cruise, I never wore anything but a thong. I walked to the bars by the pool for drinks, walked the entire pool deck to the aft end to get an ice cream cone each day. Then to top it off, during the adult scavenger hunt game called The Quest, I was set up. The cruise director breaks the audience into teams and each team has a male and female co-captain; I stayed away from that this cruise. During the game, each tema is asked to find something and then bring it out onto the floor, the game is done in the ice rink/studio. The fastest team gets the most points. As the game got going, the cruise director said she wanted to see a team captain with 5 men's shirts, not being worn. So the good teammate I was I ran down and gave our female captain my shirt. Our team was the first with 5 shirts. Then as we are getting handed back our shirts, still didn't have mine yet, the cruise director said ok, now I need 5 pairs of men's pants not being worn. Our female captain looked at me with her hand out smiling, and so there I was in nothing but thong underwear in front of several hundred cruise guests and also on the ship's TV channel. Grabbing my shirt to put it on, the cruise director said no, no Tom, come here. She got me out there on the floor to show me off and the crowd went crazy! So again, don't hesitate on a cruise ship. Wear it proudly.

My wife and I have sailed aboard a number of Royal Caribbean (RC) ships both larger and smaller than Explorer of the Seas and several times aboard Explorer and her sister ships (Voyager, Explorer, Adventure, Navigator and Mariner). At 138,000 gross tons these vessels fall in the middle of the RC fleet. In our opinion these are the best of the fleet – both size and deck plan wise. Granted, opinions of cruise ships are a very subjective topic but these are the best. The bigger ones are just too big – way too many people (we actually had to stand in a 45 minute chow line aboard the Oasis.) The smaller ones are not bad but the Voyager Class are the best in our opinion. As the ships get bigger and bigger the demand for Explorer sized ships is less and much more compatible for the convenience of the passengers. They are all big but these are definitely the ones to sail aboard.

I took a cruise on the RC Symphony of the Seas last year. I wore a very small Gary Majdell “Ultra Greek” bikini the first most of the trip with zero issues. Did a Swim with the stingrays and nurse shark snorkeling excursion at the last port of call, Decided to “go for it” and wore my navy blue Desmitt thong. To my relief nothing but good vibes from the ladies and a few guys said they wished they had the confidence. Since that went so well, I decided to wear it for the last sea day as we headed back to the US. Happy to report no issues at all.  Car57: Thank you for the excellent and through report, sounds like a total success for a male thong enthusiast. I will agree with you that on the attention front it almost/sort of went too far. But I will take what you got over negative harassment any day. Between my first experience thonging in a cruise ship and ready about yours and a few others, I will definitely bring out the thong first thing if not very very early on my next cruise. Because if it goes a smooth as your trip, oh yeah it’s the only suit I will wear. ricki454: that’s great you’ve been on a lot of RC ships. Can you tell us if you wore a thong on any of them or how it went? That’s what we are all on this forum for, our preference towards thongs.

Thonged4Life - Since the Explorer was mentioned I thought it was appropriate the point I was trying to make is not to rule out a cruise aboard a smaller ship in favor of one of the giants, bigger does not necessarily mean better. In addition, smaller ships often serve smaller, more accessable, population centers (Boston, Baltimore, Galveston, etc.) that may be closer to home where parking and boarding would not be as much of a hassle. I do hate to admit it but I never have worn a thong in public areas aboard ship. I’ve always worn suits called Tie Nada from Parr of Arizona. It’s a classic string bikini with a small front pouch and a very cheeky back connected by string ties. Although when the ship calls at St. Martin we always spend the day on Orient Beach: g-string when having lunch at a beachside restaurant on the textile section and nothing on the nude beach. On our last trip aboard the Oasis there were lots of cheekys and a few thongs or g-strings – all on females.

Car57, loved your report and story about being on an RC ship with full acceptance of your thong. Like many of you, I have been on a number of Royal Caribbean ships over the years, and will be on board the Grandeur of the Sea in a couple of months. I have never had an issue wearing a thong while on board any of the ships. Years ago they used to do a sexist leg’s contest for men pool side. I got pulled into the contest. I started with wearing a square cut suit when I walked up. As things got more rowdy when it was my turn to step up on the deck I did so and stripped off the square cut suit reveling my thong to grand cheers and many gasps. I didn’t win but became the sexy legs man for the rest of the cruise (so, maybe I did win). I also loved the Quest game and have a couple of time produced a mens thong for the game. But unlike Car57 I wasn’t wearing the thong at the time. I am already planning which swim thongs I will pack for the next cruise and plan on wearing a different one each of the days on board.

This week we are cruising on the Sky Princess, our first time on Princess Cruise Lines. Yesterday we were at their private Bahamas beach called Princess Cay. I wasn't sure what to expect but went with a black Desmiit thong. No issues, no stupid comments, did get a couple oh my looks up at the beach bar whike getting drinks. At the end of the day I went without shorts on the way back to the ship. I stayed in my thong walking thru the shops and the lengthy line to go thru security and get on the tender back to the ship. One guy told me that he wished he had my courage. He was another retired Soldier, like myself, and I told him he's already demonstrated that he has it. Anyway, while walking thru the shops, one of the locals came up and told me that the ladies were really liking my swimsuit and wanted me to spin around. So why not. I did and some of them went crazy! One of them asked to take a photo with me. She took a front view with me while visibly staring at my package telling my wife she is a lucky lady. Then took a back view photo putting her hand on my ass. So after that I'm feeling pretty good about wearing a thong the rest of this week on a Princess Cruise.

Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady is now in Australia. Does anyone know if their "Perch" topless deck applies to this ship as well? If so, surely it would be a good thonging area.

I asked Virgin Voyages on the socials and they confirmed it's indeed topless friendly. On the downside though, i just had a look at the photos and the Perch looks very sterile. Just rows of sunloungers and that's it. Shame they couldn't have put a pool there. Still, I might have to drop the idea of a cruise holiday past the wife I think...

Fantastic to hear orlspeedo! We have a bit of a macho culture in Australia (in my opinion) so I think it would be interesting, but indeed it sounds promising. Plus the deck looks a good size so i imagine people would be fairly spaced out. Pretty close to pulling the trigger for a short cruise at the end of February.

Booked my first ever cruise for 4 nights departing Melbourne end of Feb! Fingers crossed for good weather and a very open minded crowd.

It’s just about time to escape the winter grey, cold and snow for my mid winter break in the Caribbean sun. Ten days of living on a RCCL ship and visiting several islands. I just finished packing for the trip and the only swimwear I packed were thongs. I have three days of snorkeling planned with full intention of wearing a thong both in the weather and on the tour boat and on the beaches. I already know I’ll be the only man in a thong and I’ll be lucky to see a few other men in bikini style briefs or square cut suits. I’ll be pool side as often as possible. This time I was able to get my GF to agree to wear a cheeky one piece suit. She now has 4 suits, all cheeky style. She even bought a thong bikini to bring with her. I’m not sure it will make it into the sun. She’s more a one piece girl. So, I even packed a one piece thong suit for her and will see if she is willing to wear it to the hot tub one evening. More post to come once I’ve set sail.

First two days on a cruise ship floating through the Caribbean. Left out of Miami southward bound. So far I’ve seen only a handful of women sorting thong bikinis and another handful is something more cheeky. The rest of the women seem to be in full coverage one piece or two piece suit. The men, well, let me say the board short is alive and well. Nearly every a man with a short above the knee. Only two other men I’ve seen in briefs style suit. Then there is me wearing a thong on the pool deck. No one has said a thing to me about my swimwear choice. I’ve had several looks from women passing by me with that knowing grin. I’ve been walking around the shop wearing leggings and a t-shirt. Again no one seems to mind or notice. I’ll see how things go once I’m in a couple of ports and have some beach time.

A speedo or thong cruise would be legit!

Here it is a few days past my last post. I’m still aboard Royal Caribbean and enjoying the sun. It’s been an easy time around the pool. There remains only about 7/8 women wearing thong bikinis and another woman10/12 women wearing very cheeky bikinis. I haven’t seen much difference on the islands. Only a few more thongs for women and a few bikini briefs for men.

I was on a snorkel trip today with two women that wore very cheeky bikinis. When I removed my shorts I heard a “Oh My!” Then things settled down as I began talking to people and laughing with them. No one made comment about my thong, nor it seemed was anyone bothered.

Around the pool deck people are cheerful, friendly and talkative. While I am the only man wearing a thong it seems that no one really cares. Ship staff either pass me by or are asking if I need anything.

The rest of the day I am usually wearing leggings or well fitted shorts. Yes I get lots of smiles and direct looks of interest and compliments. In all the key to wearing a thong in a very public place is be confident, be friendly, smile and act as if you belong.
