To answer your questions Thonged4life: I am on Grandeur of the Seas with two days at sea left to cruise. I was in the main beaches at Sint Maarten, St. Kitts, St. Thomas and Puerto Plata DR. From day one the only swimwear I have worn on this adventure is my thongs, both on ship and at the beaches. I’ve only been one of the many passengers on the pool deck. All has been good and wonderful weather has been a daily thing.

Having made it back home I am looking back at my extended leave from the snow aboard the RCCL ship. From the moment I walked on the ship in Miami to the day I walked off the ship 10 days later I wore a thong either poolside or on one of the many beaches I visited with no problem, issues, or negative comments. The biggest gasp I got was on the snorkeling trip and that was a simple “Oh My!” Then that settled out just as fast.

Each day around the pool I wore a different thong, different color or different print. I had plenty of smiles. It may have helped that there were very few children aboard for this cruise, very few. The wait/bar staff was friendly. Security was not interested. When I did sit in the pool I had some friendly conversation with other passengers.

At the beaches I was the only man wearing a thong, but again, it was no big deal. I swam in the ocean and walked the beaches just like everyone else. It seemed that everyone was pretty relaxed. Sint Maartin and St. Thomas were the most popular beaches for thong swimwear. The beach in the Dominican Republic was pretty laid back. St. Kitts was the most quiet of the beaches I went to.

When I wasn’t sunning my buns I usually wore some fun print leggings with thong underwear. I wore leggings everywhere on the ship, from the gym to the restaurants. Both the passengers and staff gave me several compliments on my leggings. By the end I was called a fashion icon due to my over all choice of clothing.

There were about 5/6 other men that wore bikini style brief swimsuits around the pool and sun decks. All others were wearing knee length board shorts. Thong bikinis were slightly more popular with the women, along with cheeky bikinis. I wouldn’t call thong and cheeky bikinis the majority of swimwear for women. There were many more women in the standard full coverage bikinis. Of note the women that wore thong bikinis seemed to be largely accepted.

Overall if you do decide to take a cruise on RCCL I’d say thong swimwear is tolerated if not accepted. I would guess that there many be more issues on the super sized ship where there tend to me many more children, but on the smaller ships it’s not a problem at all. Be aware you will most likely be the only man wearing a thong and one only a handful not in board shorts. As long as you’re friendly, you smile and you’re confident you will most likely have a great time. I’ll be back onboard a RCCL ship next winter looking for the same experience.

Yeah, I can’t wait for our eight night cruise on Carnival coming in May. Just like Rapidblue, I’ll be in thongs all the time just like I was last year. I’ll have a few more designs and colors to choose from to make sure I’m matching up and coordinating with my wife’s bikini.

@rapid..... Sounds like you had a blast! That was a well written and informative report....I would love to thong on a cruise ship... I'd imagine RC is more tolerant than other lines....we should plan a sunsplash cruise... Thoughts?

Well, i've just recently completed my Virgin Voyages cruise from Melbourne to Hobart and my thonging experience was ok - not fantastic, but not completely bad either. I did have my expectations completely in check though as it being an Australian cruise, I knew that there would be a chance I would be the only male thong wearer. However, I was hopeful as their own website states "An adults-only cruise is an opportunity to take risks, maybe even wearing outfits you might not feel comfortable wearing around friends or family. The best part about deciding what to wear on an adult-only cruise? There is no normal. Anything goes." so i was hoping for a bit more craziness in general. Adding to my hopefulness was it was also the lead-up to the Sydney Gay Mardi-Gras so i was thinking there may have been some risqué outfits from the LGBTIA+ crowd... but alas, it was not to be. That crowd didn't seem to dress too crazy and there were WAY more senior citizens on board than I expected, who all preferred to dress formal on the dress up nights. Anyway, I ended up wearing a N2N Fire Island thong on the ship's smaller pool and a lot of looks but not much more of a second glance from most people. Only saw one girl in a thong bikini, a few cheekies, and one lady in a averagely skimpy Wicked Weasel bikini - I was very disappointed in not having much to look at during my pool time lol. On the PJ party night, I wore a red thong with black fishnet/mesh shorts and a blue fishnet/mesh singlet - quite a lot of looks when walking from my cabin room to the nightclub and received a couple compliments on my outfit, but boy did I feel out of place! No other males wearing anything revealing and I only noticed a couple of ladies that were wearing sexy lingerie, everyone else was quite tame. For the red "Scarlet Night" i wore a tiny navy G-string with red sheer pants and a mesh singlet top and could feel all the eyes on me again. I did check out the Perch a few times hoping to see some topless women I could join but most times it was deserted, although there always seemed to be something being set up there and was quite windy most of the time anyway. Thonging experience aside, I did have a great time and would book again in a heartbeat however they've cancelled their next Australian season due to conflict over the red sea. Just wish the crowd on the Australian sailings was a bit more livelier!

The wife and I just returned from a B2B cruise on Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas, we were on for 14 days. As I have posted earlier about other cruises, wearing thongs was absolutely no problem on the ship, at any of the beaches we went to on the islands, as well as at the new Hideaway Bay on Cocoa Cay. Hideaway Bay is a new adults only section on the cruise line's private island. I had kind of expected some crap since it was spring break time with lots of families with kids coming from less excepting parts of the country, but that did not seem to materialize. I think I saw one other guy in a bikini during the second week of the cruise, a few square cuts but that is it. As for the ladies from about age 15 thru 65 I honestly would estimate that cheeky to thong and even g-string styles made up 50% of the swimsuits. Lots of thongs in view to use Sailor250's metric. No negative comments, plenty of women chatting about my thongs in a positive light. Wife and I did get compliments on our matching swimsuits from Pango Pango; hers a OPT and mine a standard thong, both made with same material. On St Patrick's Day I wore my new thong from Pango Pango, white with green shamrocks and that was a hit with some of the ladies. I ended up wearing it again since it was so well received! Overall it was a great trip, no issues wearing a thong and man is my ass tan after 14 days of sunning in nothing butt thongs! If any of you are on the fence about whether or not to thong on a cruise ship, just do it!

Just got back from a 16 day transatlantic cruise on NCL. We had a Haven suite which is NCLs premium card access only area of the ship. Private pool , hot tubs and sun deck. Both wife and I wore our various g strings and thongs the entire time. Absolutely no negative comments. Even got a few nice comments when wife and I had matching male, female suits from Dubio. Mesh and g string styles. Used the thermal spa on the colder days, sauna, steam room a d huge whirlpool swimming pool. Wore g strings and thongs there too. No issues. Shop was the NCL Escape

My wife and I were on a weeklong cruise out of Charleston SC with 3 stops in the Caribbean. Nice itinerary and several days at sea to sun the bunz! Like last year, I only wore thongs on the ship and when we had our beach days along the way. This year, I didn’t bother with the cover up when walking around or going to the bar for a drink and since we had the drink package, I did that frequently each day. We only stayed on the top 3 decks that were for +21 which has a small pool area on one of them. On sea days, we usually spent 6 hours out reading books, talking, and just relaxing on the loungers and getting sun. On days in port, about 2-3 hours out there. So from day 1, I never had any negative comments directed to me and had several ladies who took my picture or a video along the way (some not very discreetly). I had both women and men who told me that they liked my suit and one guy said he had to get some for himself. Comments were few in number and were along the norm from previous experiences. Most people seem to ignore you and I don’t look around to see who is looking at me. We made some friends on day 1 while in one of the bars and ended up paling around with them for the week. They were our age and of course my wife told them in the bar of my swimsuit style of choice and they were fine with that and joined us during the sun time most days. They had set dining time for dinner each night and sat with the same people for the week. About half way through the cruise, one of the other guests mentioned a guy wearing a thong, and our friends say, “you mean CK?” her reply was “you know him?” and they told them that we were new friends on the ship. We all thought that was funny to have me and my thongs come up at dinner conversation. Overall, from day 1, I saw a couple of women wearing thongs and as days went on, saw a few more and even another guy on the last day. I certainly did my best to show off the thongs and as normal, wore colorful ones from holographic ones that had a good sparkle to them, pink, and purple. Nothing crazy, just the norm for my tastes. In Grand Turk the water was the best and we drank beers and found loungers for the day. Weather and water were grand! Our new friend and I ordered drinks from the beach bar and there were about 5 detectives and cops there giving the proprietor a hard time over some permits or something. They didn’t bat an eye at me while we were getting drinks not 5 feet away. Good to know the local laws before you go out and about… The last day, it was a sea day and it was hot. We went down to the pool again to cool off and got similar small roar of excitement from the crowd as I got to the pool. We spent about 30 minutes there and as we were leaving and going back up the stairs, a guy in the pool got my attention “Hey Speedo Man!” and shouted a great complement for all to hear! “You are a legend, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!” I posted a few pictures under Cruize 2024 folder.

So the wife and I, along with a group of 16 other friends, just finished an 8 night Greek Island cruise on SilverSea. They are RCCLs top-end line; quite expensive. Wife did not want me to wear thongs around some of those in our group, so I had to work my thong wearing at the pool around who was there. Going into it I was worried that with the somewhat stuffy atmosphere I may get some nasty looks or comments. Did not receive any, did notice some finger pointing in my direction when sporting a thong. I did however also get many approving looks/smiles. There were 2 sisters, around 40ish, that when they saw me laying out on the deck above the pool deck, there were real nice sunbeds, they would purposely come up to that deck and hang out constantly checking me out. After this experience I honestly don't want to bring any other type of swimsuit on a cruise. Told the wife yesterday, on our long flight home, that on next week's inaugural sailing of the brand new RCCL Utopia, I am only packing thongs.

Ok I’m back and I’m happy to report that I was able to wear my thong on the main upper deck (the one above the main pool deck) and the world didn’t come to an end.

The weather the first 10 nights at sea was absolutely no good for being outside on deck. So all of my thonging was in the hot tubs, early in the mornings or LATE in the evenings. Thanks to the weather, they were always crowded otherwise…. With that part out f the way, I never had any issues… Those that saw my suit just kind of gave me that friendly “I don’t know what to think” smile. No negative reactions, nobody suddenly getting out of the hot tub, just same as one would expect getting into/out of any hot tub with strangers.

Keep in mind that there was over 4,400 guests in the ship (only 278 were aged 18 or less) and of that 4,400 I bet 80% were over 70 years old. So only a half century old myself.  I was easily in the bottom 1/4 of the age range.

At the second port of call I opted to leave my group (wanted the to be able to enjoy the trip as a family without me as a fifth wheel) and head back to the ship a bit early. It was over 70° outside, sunny, and zero wind. With the boat fairly empty I put in my black Desmiit and headed for the sun deck. Found a spot and went for it… Not a lot of people walked by, but the ones that did all kept to themselves and passed without a care. It felt stranger to be out there alone than it did to be wearing my suit.

I have to giggle though… While I was face down with my head away from the track people walk by on, I could still sort of see to the sides. I noticed an older lady in a scooter coming from one side. I closed my eyes and could hear her scooter coming. Then I realized I heard it coming from one side, but never heard it pass me. So still turned to the side she came from I open my eyes and can barely make out the edge of her scooter, she’s stopped directly behind me…… I start to raise my head and she zips off as fast as she can go. The funny part… She totally had her camera out and was snapping a picture… LoL… I think I spooked her when I started to lift my head… LoL.

I was out for a over 2,5 hrs… That was the only moment of interest to report. Plenty of people of all ages walked by, with headphones I could hear whatever anyone may have said, and noting negative was heard.

The next day was at sea and by late afternoon the air was warm enough and the sun was out… Being the first really day of suns out and warm weather, the sun deck was pretty full. I found a spot not super crowded and decided that since it was the second to the last day what do I have to loose… I set up my towels and before I knew it…Suns out buns out!  Started buns down because I knew that anyone that didn’t have blinders on could easily see my suit was the smallest on the ship. 20 mins and all was well. So it was time… Suns up, buns up!! 25 min later totally uneventful… I “flipped” several more times.

I catch one small chuckle and did here one very senior woman say something to her husband as they walked by to the effect of “how could you wear that, I can’t look” and could make out her husband’s response of “ well then don’t look”…. And then they were to far away. People walked by probably every 90 sec or less. All just kept on without breaking stride. So all in all I can’t really say anything negative actually happened, when worn my thong was a non issue, and I even found one guy who said he had his with him, but didn’t have the courage to wear it.

I will say a nice unexpected benefit of wearing a thong was that I could wear it under my shorts whenever I was planning on going to the hot tub. Even better though was that after the hot tub they dried so quickly that I often put my short back on and was able to go to the main dining room for lunch or dinner without having to change first.

The only bummer if you will was we all know hot tubs are tough on fitted swimsuits, between the chlorine and very hot water on my suit.

From my personal experience, it doesn’t seem to make any difference from the ship to “the private island.” If you’re comfortable enough to wear a thong on the ship, wear a thong on land. I’ve been on Royal Caribbean’s Coco Cay with not a care. I wore my thong and not much or anything more the entire day. There are always a few fellow passengers that are not happy with seeing a man in a thong. But, mostly they leave me alone. I have gotten a few eye rolls and nasty looks with nothing said. I see many women wearing thong bikinis. I’ve also gotten plenty of positive comments, smiles and kind words.

The last couple years I have been at the Carnival Cruise lines private beach in the Bahamas a couple times and had a wonderful day with my wife while I was wearing a thong the whole time. I had no problem with that and got some good comments from the ladies as well. They were definitely other women who were in thongs or G strings around, but not that many which was kind of a surprise. I wear them on the ship and on the beaches while at port. I didn’t see any other men with thongs, but a couple in bikinis on the beaches. Up until the last day of mine last cruise, I didn’t see any other men until the last afternoon. Another guy broke his out while he was out with his wife on the deck. I definitely get a little more attention from people and it is almost always positive and polite.. It’s great to be out in and about only in a thong!

VAthongn while I've posted many times about wearing thongs on cruise ships, I've also worn them many times on RCCLs Coco Cay at the South Beach area and in the new Hideaway Bay (the adult area) with no issues at all. At RCCLs spot in Labadee I have worn thongs on the beach as well with no issues. I have also worn a thong all over on Princess' private island, with much delight to the local ladies. While not a private island, I've also worn a thong many times on cruise ship excursions where you take a boat ride to a beach. I have found that the private islands and excursions, seem to be a little easier when you're trying to build up the courage tomwear a thong in a crowd vice while on the ship. Maybe it is due to a lesser population density, or maybe just all in my head. I have to add though that everytime I've we've been on say one of the catamaran excursions going to a snorkle spot or a beach stop, when I take off my shorts to reveal a thong, the ladies have reacted positively!.

Wife and I are Diamond on NCL and always ( if available) book the Haven - which, not to be a snob, is a key card access area of the ship with select staterooms, suites along with a private bar area, dining, pools, hot tub and sun deck. We always pack thongs and g-strings wearing them in the adults only sections of course. Never have had any negative issues from fellow passengers or crew. Often times its a bit of a good conversation starter when others come and sit near us.

I think most folks that are Haven travelers are a bit more world traveled and open minded, so perhaps less likely to openly judge one's clothing or lack thereof. Many of our trips have been to Europe and the Greek Islands which by definition and custom, often results in less beach, sun deck and pool attire.

Last tip was a trans-Atlantic trip NY to Rome. We booked the Thermal Spa which has the adults only indoor pools, therapy pools and sauna areas. With both g-stringed the entire time with no bad results. Definitely turned some heads however.

Next trip - Panama Canal in the spring. Will provide updates, but packing our Dubios, my Tangaland24.de micro suits and others.

I will be going on a Virgin cruise mid-January. I plan on wearing my thongs, probably at the Perch. Not because it is topless, but because from everything I've read it is usually empty. It isn't because I worry about the reactions to my thongs, but because my wife and I enjoy peace and quiet. I probably will also be easier to get a lounge chair too

I am currently on a Royal Caribbean ship sailing through the southern Caribbean. I don’t think I’ve seen so few things or cheeky bikinis as I’ve seen on this ship. At day for I’ve seen 1 thing bikini, 3 cheeky bikinis and nothing more for the women. For men it is board short haven. 2 men in briefs, a in. A square cut suit and me in a thong. I’ve gotten my share of disapproving looks but no comment to date. Had my table mates make a comment about never wanting to see anyone I. A thong ever again after spending a day in Miami South Beach. I just shut my mouth and let them carry on about how wrong it is to wear reveling swimwear. My partner, who who doesn’t wear thong, but even made a comment about how conservative and prudish the table was. She was a bit taken a back by the comments. I’ll see if it gets any better as the days go by.

I an agree, if you don’t like what you see, stay home. To travel means to be open and expect to see things that you may not see at home. I am on a 10 day cruise out of Miami to the southern Caribbean. In fact n Explorer of the Seas. Today was a stop in St. Maarten. I went out to Orient Beach. I had a bus full of people complaining about seeing anyone without clothing on. On the beach. Stripped down to a G-String and soaks up some sun, took a long walk and enjoyed myself. Back on the bus and ship there was more talk about not wanting to see anyone in a thong or less. I’ve been on many cruise ships and have never encountered this type of negativity towards thong swimwear. As well as seeing so few thong bikinis is unusual.

All that’s left now is two day at sea before returning to Miami on the Explorer of the Seas. Over all the cruise has been great with stops in Puerto Plata, San Juan Puerto Rico, St Maarten, St Lucia, Antigua and St Croix. The ship is clean, star is friendly, food is appetizing and the entertainment is good. I’ve worn my thong at each of the ports of call with no problems. On ship I’ve had a few friendly conversations with people at the pool with people. I’ve seen people sneak photos. I’m the only man on board that wears a swim thong. I’ve seen 4 other men in brief or Speedo type swimwear. I’ve counted a total of 8 women wearing thong bikinis. Otherwise the swim wear is very conservative and modest even among the younger crowd. What has surprised me is the level of conversation about thong swimwear being not acceptable or appropriate by more than a few people I’ve encountered during various activities. It’s apparent they have not seen me at the beach or pool by the way they talk. It seems like the majority of the people on the boat are more geriatric than not. Maybe that has something to do with it. Two more days of sunning my bum on the pool deck. I’ll see how it goes.

Re:Cruise Ships? - Thongs on Cruise lines

I got off of Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady Last Sunday after an 8 day cruise. It was a blast. If you are looking for a judgement free place to thong this might be the line for you. For starters it is 21+, so "think of the children" to worry about. It even has a topless deck (The Perch) where I tended to go on sea days because my wife (who wears modest suits) and I like quiet places to sun. Oddly over the course of the cruise I only saw 3 women (2 several times) up there that indulged in being topfree, and they wore full or cheeky bottoms. I only saw 1 or 2 thonged women up there. I even went down a deck to go to the head or bar in my thong. Now the main pool and a couple of other locations had many women in thongs and even G's, too many to count actually. I did not have access to Richard's Rooftop so I don't know what that was like. At the main pool there were several guys in bikinis dancing away, but no thongs. On the last sea day on the Perch we were displaced by a exercise/dance class for a bit. After the class I asked the staff member if I was the only male thonger aboard, and he affirmed that I was, and congratulated me and said You be you. I wore a bikini on a shore excursion to Puerta Plata, with my thong underneath, but ony exposed it when I dropped the bikini to put on my shorts. In Puerto Rico we did an unexpected swim call on a rain forest tour, and again I wore a bikini that I took off to expose my thong while putting on shorts. On St Croix we just walked to Rainbow Beach, and after seeing several women is thongs, I ditched the bikini and just hung out in my thong. The beach club at Bimini was where I was truly confident. When we first got there it was kind of rainy and the party hadn't started yet, so my wife picked a couple of chairs by the pool and I stripped down to my thong and went for a swim. While I was in the pool, she decided to move to the beach and picked a couple of loungers, front and center. the sun by that time had broken out, and I went swimming and snorkeling in my thong. I walked the beach and sunned in my thong. I put on a pair of thin nylon shorts to go get some drinks and go to the john, and realized a wet thong and shorts do not mix, it looked like I peed my pants, so no more shorts. I even went up for lunch and ate in my thong. There were many, many women in cheekies, thongs and g's, but only a few guys in square cuts or bikinis. I talked t0 a group of guys in bikinis (they were gay BTW) and said I see your Bikini's and I raise you a thong. They were very supportive of my choice. I thonged openly in front of literally thousands of people and only one person was a little disgruntled, my wife, but she got over it . I heard ZERO negative comments. I thought I heard something from one lady as I passed by her on my way to the head on the ship. I asked what she said, and she replied that she wished her husband would wear something like that. I heard variations on that a few times. My favorite was when I asked a couple if they wanted me to take their picture and they said yes, so I took it. We got into a conversation, and she said she liked "my shorts" and again this young woman wanted to know more, and complimented me on my tan. I told them to look on Amazon and he may try some. She then wanted a picture of us in our thongs , and of course i obliged, and her husband took them. I met the couple after the beach, in a ship's elevator and she showed me how to transfer pictures. Those are the photos I'm trying to add to my gallery. Her thong wasn't even close to the skimpiest suit that day. Again, no complaints, only positive comments or requests for information. This cruise line is the most inclusive (not monetarily) I could imagine. No total nudity, (but close) LGBQT+ friendly, pineapple people around (I think my thong encouraged a few to talk to me) very party oriented, but with fitness or quiet spaces availible, ant the food was some of the best I've had at sea.

Last post from my 10 day cruise on Royal Caribbean. We set sail from St. Croix at full speed due to a medical emergency for a passenger. The results was getting into Miami 10 hours early. The first day out of St. Croix had a few people trying to soak up the sun. Again only a handful of women wearing thong bikinis. Again I was the only man wearing a thong swimsuit. People seemed to not have an issue with my choice of swimwear. All the talk from rain the week about not liking thong bikinis were put to rest. I wasn’t going to bring it up again. The last day cruising was wind blown and cold. They closed the top decks due to “inclement weather.” It was too cold to be out and there were interment rain showers. Overall, I was happy to wear a thong on all of the beaches and every day on the ship. I walked the beaches wearing a thong. I sunned my bum on the deck above the pool with many people walking behind me and in the next chairs near me. I wasn’t doing anything different than any other passenger. Again, act with confidence, be friendly and smile. It breaks down any barriers. The people on this particular cruise seemed to be on the more geriatric side with very few people younger than 50, most over 70. Maybe it was the length of the cruise or the dates that had people of a more seasoned age.

Wife and I are departing out of Miami late March, NCL thru the Panama Canal arriving Los Angeles. We have the NCL Haven as well as the Vibe Adults only pass. Shall we pack out Dubio G-strings / Thongs. I have a few Tangaland.24 suits that may be a bit too micro. As background we spend our stateside vacations at C/O resorts such as Caliente in Florida. Thank you for the advice. ;-)

Was on a Carnival cruise recently and only saw a couple women in thongs. No men.

RDUThongLover, I guess you were waiting to see if other men wore thongs before you did. With modern cruse ships offering many rooms with private balconies there may have been a lot of other thongers, just not in the public spaces. Sometimes you need the courage to be the first so others might follow. I don't know your age or body shape but I still get complements from younger women, often for just having the courage.

JM_Runs: I've been wearing thong swimsuits for 20 years now and I'm quite comfortable wearing them, but I have never, not even once had someone compliment me on my swimwear. haha, that would be weird, actually. No one has complimented me on my shorts, my shirts, my jeans outside, or my thong. I think we secretly wish others would enjoy it as much as us, but I doubt that's the case. Women will be called "beautiful" if they are seen in a thong or naked. Men will be called "weird" or "perverted" if they are seen in a thong or naked. ha, it's just the way it is.

RDUThongLover, on your next cruise take the lead and wear your thong even if no one else is wearing one. Wife and I were just on the Utopia of the Seas and that is what I wore. I had several groups of women tell me that they loved my swimsuits and that I have a great ass! What a confidence boost especially when wife questions my swimsuits because she says someone might think I'm gay.... Had a younger guy come up to me and tell me that seeing me wear a thong made him wish he'd brought a thong with him. I also had a teenage male ask me where I bought one of my thongs, Bang, as he liked it. This teen is the younger brother of my new son-in-law and according to his family actually wears thongs occasionally. Wear your thong like it is any other swimsuit, act normal and you'll be fine!

This spring wife and I did a Panama Canal trip from Miami to LA on NCL. We got the Vibe adults only sundeck / bar pass and had a great time. Both of us wore g-strings ( tangaland24.de and Dubio as well as her Wicked Weasel suits) , some of them mesh and other micro suits the whole 15 days we were on the ship. Absolutely no issues wearing the micro suits. Bartenders at the Vibe bar had some fun with me, asking me to model the suits. We had the open bar package so while all drinks were included, the bartenders were pouring me shots to encourage me. Wife got lots of fun videos and pics (just for us). Had quite a few people inquire where we got the suits as well. A number of ladies asked my wife for the list of suppliers, especially for the suits she was wearing. A bit of advice for cruises. Buy the adults only passes and probably stay away from the all age pools and sun decks. Too many kids and moms. The adults only areas are going to be much more friendly and the folks more accepting and in many cases enjoying the micro suits. We head off next to a 12 day western caribbean cruise in February out of Miami - NCL as well. Haven level stateroom and will be booking the Vibe passes as well. Planning on 3 days ahead to be in South Beach so planning to be wearing the tangaland24.de and Dubio suits.

How are cruises out of Miami on VV? Debating on booking the thanksgiving cruise. At the end of the day I really don’t care what people think but I also don’t want to create a stir because I’m wearing on thong on a regular deck versus the topless deck. Though I’m sure I’ll be on the topless deck more often because my GF prefers to be topless. I’m not going to throw shorts on to grab a beer at the pool bar unless it just seems it would be more of an issue than not. Of course the alternative is a speedo type and that I would not give af on what anyone says

VAthonggn, Go for it. Wear what you want. Make a few people joyful at your courage. At the worst some stick-in-the-mud complains and a staff member asks you to wear a little more when on other decks.

VA Thonger, please read my review of my January Scarlet Lady cruise. Only 2 things I'd change, I would probably sit out in a few different areas and I'd definitely hit the Dock's small plates happy hour more often.

VAthongn, don't forget that Virginia Voyages is all adults, so wearing a thong by any of the pools should be more than fine. I wear them on crowded pool decks on Royal Caribbean ships loaded with kids and never have any problems. Wear it like any other swimsuit, act normal and enjoy the sttention that you are sure to get!

I guess you didn't see my report. Bimini was where I was boldest, swam in the pool ( left before the party started because the drizzle ended and my wife and I prefer the beach and quiet). I walked the length of the beach, sunned, snorkeled, got drinks, went to the buffet and ate, went to the John etc. all in my thong. The only time I had shorts on was for the tram ride. This is where the photos in my album were taken. So just do it.

Just returned home from a 15 day transatlantic cruise on the Independence of the Seas. I only packed thongs for the trip. Once out by the pools, thongs are all I wore, trips to get drinks, ice cream, food, restroom, or even to just walk around, all done in just a thong. There were some occasional OMG looks, but never heard or saw anything negative, and this cruise had way more children on it than any of our previous long cruises. I received so many compliments from the ladies that I lost track. I even had a guy at the pool bar tell me that I could turn a straight man gay. As I've said before, when on a cruise please don't hesitate, just wear it proudly and enjoy yourself!!!

I’m heading out on a week-long Royal Caribbean Icon of the Seas cruise over the post-Christmas through New Year’s holiday with my family. We’ll be traveling with my wife and our two teenage daughters, as well as my in-laws and my sister-in-law’s family, so it’s going to be a full group and a busy week. I’ve worn thong swimwear at the beach around my immediate family, but I’ve never worn one in front of my in-laws before. They’ve seen me in speedo-style suits, and everyone already knows that thongs are my preferred swimwear, but this will be the first time wearing them in a bigger family setting. I mentioned it to them in a tongue-in-cheek way, partly as a heads-up and partly to test the waters, and they told me to go for it. Even with that reassurance, I’m still feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. It’s one thing to be comfortable with what you like and another to step into that confidence around extended family, especially for a full week on a very public ship. The good news is that my wife and daughters also prefer thong swimwear, so I won’t be the only one standing out. Having them with me creates a sense of “safety in numbers,” and it helps to know I won’t be navigating that visibility alone. Plus, cruise environments tend to be a lot more relaxed and diverse when it comes to swimwear choices, so that adds a bit of comfort too. Overall, I’m really looking forward to the trip: time with family, warm weather, new experiences, and hopefully a chance to step more confidently into being myself. I’ll let you know how everything goes once we’re back.

Sounds perfect. Having thong wearing women around tends to naturalize negative reactions from other men.

On my last Virgin Voyage, I wore a black gstring from Bruno with no issues at all and also a regular thong at Bimini Beach.  But I've also worn thongs on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity so go for it and be proud.

El0 bring a couple of extra thongs and bikinis (conservative) with you. Maybe the other males in your party will want to try them.

@martylouie Great idea. I packed a few extras with tags, just in case I can inspire a few others to actually live life. I just found out from one of my daughters that a few “friends’” families from the local public school will also be on this cruise. Oh well, I’m still only packing thongs. I’ve gotten myself into the headspace that if my family is supportive, it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, even if they’re from the same town. I’m there to have fun and enjoy a vacation. Honestly, I think it’s Christian Ocean’s videos that helped shape this attitude. While a few people may be upset, there are many more who are supportive and accepting. I remember being on a beach over 20 years ago, wearing knee-length board shorts, when I ran into an older man in a speedo flying a kite. I was taken aback, but we ended up chatting for over an hour. At the time, I was pretty introverted and still figuring out the world and my place in it. Eventually, I complimented him on his swimsuit and his courage for wearing it. He told me to look around and notice how many men were wearing shirts, long shorts, and hats, sulking behind their wives around. That moment stuck with me, especially his parting advice: “Young man, everyone dies. Very few actually live.” So in a few days, I’m going to live. I can’t wait for the emotions and the feels. If nothing else, I’m coming home with memories rather than regrets. @JM_Runs you are an unsung hero, thank you for keeping this place alive all these years. One day I hope to cross paths. To everyone else, although you are all anonymous people in this world, I can't thank you enough for the wisdom that you've all shared over in this forum. Many like me may seldom if ever post, it doesn't mean we don't respect the path you've forged and the wisdom that you've shared. I can't wait to share my experience with all of you.

Part 1: Back from an eight day cruise over the New Year’s holiday that included three days at Walt Disney World. During this trip I only packed thongs and a couple of traditional swim briefs. Subconsciously, this has been years in the making and perhaps even a midlife crisis. I am turning 45 in a few days and have worn thongs as underwear since I began living on my own after college. It has always been something my immediate family knew about. In fact, while living with my girlfriend, now my wife of 20 years, her mother would do our laundry and neatly fold my thongs along with my wife’s. It was not until a few years ago that I found the nerve to wear a thong on a beach. That happened during a trip to Hawaii with my wife. It was liberating, yet I was still unsure whether it was something I should be doing. Call it years of indoctrination by social norms and worrying far too much about what strangers might think. A few years later, we returned to Hawaii, this time as a family with our two daughters. While getting ready for a beach day, my wife asked, “Why aren’t you wearing your thong?” I gave some excuse about our daughters and whether it was appropriate. She immediately shut that down. She told me they did not care, that I looked great in it, and that I should just wear it. I did, and that moment became a turning point. From then on, thongs were no longer something I felt I had to justify. They became my swimwear of choice. That does not mean I wear one everywhere. I am still realistic about certain settings like the local community pool. But given the chance at a beach, resort, hotel, cruise ship, or lake, thongs are my go to swimwear. They make me feel confident, comfortable, and unapologetically myself. This past holiday we traveled with extended family, including my two teenage nephews. We visited Typhoon Lagoon, where I relaxed and sunbathed in a thong but put on something more conservative for the slides. Once aboard the ship, however, it was thongs and only thongs. On deck, on the beach, in the spa, everywhere. While some people may have silently judged, the overwhelming response was positive. I received compliment after compliment. Many women approached me, and after a few minutes of casual conversation, they wanted to know more about my choice of swimwear. They told me how great it looked, how much confidence it showed, and how they wished their husbands would wear one. I even brought a few extras to act as a low key ambassador, inspired by Christian Ocean, and while only two people took the plunge, the conversations alone were worth it. We also spent time at CocoCay, specifically the adult hideaway. This area features a massive heated pool with a swim up bar, and the vibe there was pure freedom. To say I was popular would be an understatement. Once the drinks started flowing, couples regularly approached my wife and me to compliment our swimwear and our confidence. Some may have been pineapple people, which we are not, but the attention still felt flattering and fun. More than anything, it felt validating. Whether it was the setting, the confidence we carried, or simply a genuine lack of concern for outside opinions, the energy was contagious.

Part 2: What I ultimately learned, and what my wife so perfectly summed up, is that nobody truly cares what you wear. The fear is almost entirely in our own heads. People are far too busy worrying about themselves. When you show up confident and comfortable in your own skin, most people respond positively, and those who do not simply do not matter. If you spend your life trying to please everyone else, you will never fully please yourself. Confidence breeds confidence. Happiness attracts happiness. What really surprised me was how many people seemed envious. I would estimate that well over half of the people at that pool wanted the same freedom but were holding themselves back. They wanted to feel bold, relaxed, and playful, but were stuck behind invisible rules they never actually agreed to. That realization hit me hard. Life is far too short to let fear dictate what you wear or how you enjoy yourself. I was blown away by the positivity I experienced on this cruise, and I cannot help but think about how much time I wasted doubting myself over something so simple. I only wish I had gotten out of my own way sooner and embraced this years ago. To this community, thank you for the encouragement and the shared confidence. And to anyone who is just starting to consider this journey, or standing on the edge wondering if they should take the leap, do it. Wear the thong. Own it. Encourage others. You might be surprised how many people are waiting for someone like you to show them that it is okay to live a little louder, freer, and happier.

elO thank you for a great report. Your cruise sounds like grand time. You are Absolutely correct, confidence breeds confidence. Thank you for being a great ambassador for thongs wearing. I say this often, be happy, be positive, be friendly, be confident and smile. If you do those things most people will be attracted to you.
