I've definitely noticed the thong population taking a serious drop the last 2 years. This is a real shame, because the beaches all have been very thong friendly. Time for everyone to get out there and make a statement against board (dork) shorts! I'll be there Aug 30-Sept 3 so drop me a note if you want to hang out (straight guy with wife, but gay friends are OK with us!). The more the better!! Monte

I sure am tired of being the lone thonger on the beach--would be real glad to see some of you stop or walk by!! Will meet you guys/girls at other beaches in the area whenever you want--let us know. Monte I should be easy to spot--my preferred suit will be a VLC Dore thong in a USA flag print. Other possibilities are a VLC zebra or just a plain black wet look. (My goal this year is to wear a Dore spyder string in star print, but I don't think I've progressed to that level of courage yet. There is just something about switching from a thong to a string.)

You may get a lot of rude comments, although I never have, but I heard a lot of girls get hasseled and leave. You can thong anywhere in Volusia County, but only on the beach, not City property. Motel pools are iffy, contact them for individual rules. Most are OK at spring break, but not at other times when families are around. On the beach, you can wear anything that covers the genitals--I've often walked in a Dore VLC, and once in a string right past the Beach Patrol offices. Never a problem. If you are interested, there is a nude beach at New Smyrna and also by Canaveral (Playlinda). Let me know if you will be visiting any other time of the year, we are from PA but get to Daytona several times a year and I only wear thongs to the beach nowdays. Have a great time! We enjoyed the sun, too bad the beach sucked. The previous post was right about rednecks. My wife was in her thong and didn't hear any rude comments. However I was wearing one of my new thongs from Skinz and it was as if I was from Mars. The rednecks made several rude comments. A young babe took out her camera phone and took several pics of me, I also found other pics of me on the internet from that day. I have no plans on visiting Daytona Beach again.......there's other nicer beaches around.

But you won't find as many of the "sexy people" there. But its very relaxing. New Smyrna would be my next choice. Have thonged both places 5-6 years with NO negative reactions from anybody.

I have found the only really good place to thong is the beach at the Canaveral National Seashore in New Smyrna Beach (about 20-25 miles south of Daytona). Except on summer weekends the place is rarely very crowded. There are some 6 miles of beach with 5 parking areas; the last parking area, usually the most crowded one, is also for the nudist beach (which is legal here). If it's full, park at lot 4 and walk down (south) the beach. The area is beautiful--Florida the way it was originally, with no development and no one trying to sell you drugs or condos on the beach--and the beach patrons are very laid back and often quite friendly. I'm there next 3-5 Feb, again probably 7-9 April. The weather for being on the beach in that part of Florida starts to improve in mid-Feb. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

But I usually stay in Ormand Beach or South Daytona, and never had any bad comments. Was there 10 days this time, and had either thongs or strings on each day. Walked about a mile on the beach in the AM and PM, and only got one comment on the last day--"Buddy, it takes big balls to wear that, YOU DA MAN!" You have to use a little judgement and not walk into a pack of teenage redneck ***holes. Monte

They are legal on all Volusia County beaches--but NOT on the public streets so take a cover. The only time I had a heckler was down by the Main Street Pier, a group of male teenagers about 8 years ago. Still not a big problem, just ignored them and kept jogging away.

Had plenty of cars and people go by. Didn't notice that anyone paid particular attention to me. Wore my new black Skinz M55 g-string. Stayed about an hour and half. Went for a dip. Pretty nice afternoon. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Today(the 2nd) is the first day we’ve gotten out on the beach and I’ve already seen at least 3 or 4 girls wearing thongs. Any members on here? There was even one family, with 2 small kids and the wife was wearing a black thong. It was pretty inspirational seeing her and her family. I hope that one day that can be me and my wife, but she still refuses to wear thongs on the beach. :(

It's not as long of a trip on the Florida east coast I had hoped, but I'll take what I can get. I will be staying at the Cove Motel in Daytona Beach. I already booked the room and confirmed thongs are permitted at the pool. This is great news to hear for when wanting to relax by the pool in the evenings. I plan to be on the beach from about 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day, wearing one of my many thongs and g-strings. I will definitely take a day or two to go to Apollo Beach to work on the all-over tan. I know this thread has not been updated in a while, but if anyone is interested in joining me, I would welcome a fellow thonger to join me.
