I to wear desmiit thongs all the time to swim laps but I know what you mean. I actually for the the most part want to be as conservative as I can with the thongs I wear while swimming laps. Every now and then I’ll wear a smaller thong when there isn’t many around. But something I’ll say about the Desmitt thongs that in a weird way works out in trying to be more conservative is if you wear them enough they will start wearing out and getting looser. I have a few that are over a year old and I wear them weekly and what’s happened is they are losing their elasticity which kind of makes the front baggy but the rear has gotten a good bit wider! So much that if I put both fingers in and pull it out of the crack, it will be stretchy enough to look like a narrow rio back. I tend to let the thong sit where it wants while swimming but when I get out of the pool I pull it out as much as possible as I’m walking back to my towel. It actually makes it more covered up if you know what I mean. Another brand thong that I’ve worn that is really conservative on the rear and pretty much has done the same thing mentioned above by stretching out is the Greg Homme thongs. They don’t have a drawstring but the rear is so wide it’s like a small rio as well.

Check out the Jack Adams swim thong. Very conservative in the front and the back. The only issue is the limited colors. It is very comfortable and has a drawstring as well. I think it would be great for lap swimming in a pool.

I like that the Jack Adams is almost not a thong :) It seems like you can wear it cheeky style, or pull it up a bit to make it more thongy. And drawstring is necessary, otherwise the waistband needs to be really tight to avoid the thong to take in water at the waist when turning.

Several lap swimming session this week in J Snyder Kini, though presumably although pretty minimal front & back, not really a thong?

I would recommend "Jor Sunny" thong. A conservative swimwear thong with high quality that looks really good, they are pricey but I absolutely love em! I use to order them from dealbyethan.com.

Was finishing my laps at the pool and some leg exercises in the water when heard the female change room door open and close. Woman walked in wearing towel around her could only see her bikini top on. She put her towel near the whirlpool and walked to the pool deck shower. While i never stare at newbies she had her back facing me as showing me her tie side string thong. She stood in that position for awhile not getting wet washing her hands in the shower. She walked back to the whirlpool all alone. Yet knew she probably seen me from the gym outside bay windows looking at my pool thong visits. Felt she had enough confidence to wear her thong and  showing off her tattooed skin. As i climbed out of the pool she clearly looked upon me showering on the deck from the whirlpool. Went into the sauna but observed her looking over towards me. Once i decided to leave she ran towards the pool ladder stood undecided to go into the water. Yet she had her backside facing me as i walked passed getting my towel.  She then walked in front of me back into the whirlpool. Found her little odd not decisive what to do at the pool spa. Thought about maybe she was being deliberate to show off her thong  for my benefit. Never said a word left to the change room wearing my snakeskin thong.

Guess some people who thong knowing others who do as well want to show off themselves obvious ways to be noticed or gather reaction. While i find it rare sighting at my gym pool anyone wearing a thong other than me.  Felt any remark of her thong bikini string would not be cool from me. She didn't say anything to me aa both were wearing more swimwear no big deal. Yet seeing other woman at the pool some young asian come to mind. Often look timid or uncomfortable walking along the pool deck in a modest black one piece knowing my eyes or other males maybe judging her physique.

Years ago, In Houston.  I discovered that the YWCA was within 10 minutes of my home.  I signed up and went to the men's locker room to change. I happened to have a tiny yellow g-string in my bag along with my bikinis.  I pondered if I wanted to wear the g-string.  What the hell, I decided to test the water and put on the g-string, locked up the bag into my locker and walked out of the mens locker room, walked the nearby width of the pool and hopped in.  I swam for some time enjoying the roiling of the water over my buttocks.  I did notice, however, that two elderly ladies in the pool frowning and assumed that it was about me.  Anyway, I got out  of the water and walked onto the men's locker room.  No one said a word to me the entire time I was there and as I exited the building past the front desk occupied by some women.  Had I introduced g-strings to the YMCA in Houston?  No.  The next time I walked out of the men's locker and got into the pool, a woman with great purpose walked to me as I was stretching and told me to change and not wear the g-string again.  I complied and went and changed to a medium skimpy bikini.  All was well when I swam thereafter; except that I missed the sensation of water roiling over my buttocks.

Years ago when I was a early teenager, I went to the Y with my father’s cousin. Back then it was all male. A thong would also have been frowned upon, as would any suit. Nude mandatory!

While in the whirlpool at the gym aqua facility i seen the young cute receptionist walking towards me. Thoughts came to mind wearing my thong would be policed or complaints about it. She asked me my locker number, explaining my lock was mistakenly cut off by gym member forgetting his combination and locker number. She told me she be willing to take all my clothes upstairs in the reception area during my visit.

I got out of the whirlpool to take a look if indeed they cut off my lock. As i was climbing out of the whirpool young couple told me it was him that made the error. While i walked along the pool deck retrieving my flip flops and towel the receptionist stared at my thong and my backside. i grabbed my towel walked to the male change room. You would have thought the receptionist would be acclimatized to my thong swimwear, since i wear it almost everyday in the pool, and she would have seen me on the cameras.

Checking my locker i didn't see my lock cut off. A friend of the perpetrator went out in the hallway to tell the receptionist it wasn't my locker.

So i went back to the pool and told the couple it wasn't my locker. The female turned to her boyfriend in the whirlpool and giggling said the receptionist just wanted to see him in a thong, and to take his clothes away.

I was puzzled why the receptionist thought it was my locker that was mistakenly opened? Sort of think the same way female in the whirlpool mentioned about using it as excuse to get a better look. While one side doubts it as simple mistake fun to think that it calculated plan on the receptionist part. However I doubt she knew what i was wearing until i came out of the water and stood beside her on the pool deck.

Last week, i was skiing in the Alps (french Alps, not Italy). i swam in a pool where i don't go usually.

So i took the opportunity to swim with my thong in this new pool. Nobody knows me here...

As i had finished my swim session, i was stretching at the end of the lane. The lifeguard started to talk with me by asking if i swam 2 miles. As i was surprised he talked to me whereas we don't know each others, he told me that he confused me with someone else because i had the same swim cap.

I told him that i was surprised because my swim cap is my "team triathlon" swim cap, so only embers of the team have it (impossible to confuse). And so started the discussion.

For sure he had seen my thong because we were few swimmers (it was time to close the pool).

During all the discussion, i thought in myself how this lifeguard could have confused me with someone whereas i was wearing a THONG !

Really bummed.. since everything has been closed up because of COVID my Gym actually didn’t survive and is closing its doors. Super disappointing because they just started to open other gyms in the area. I only used my gym for the pool and it was a Olympic sized indoor pool which was very nice for swimming all year around. The best part of this pool was there were no lifeguards and it was very private separate to the rest of the gym. I wore my thongs regularly there and even the regulars that swam were use to me. Now I’ll have to find another pool and the only ones around are outdoor so no winter swimming and much more expensive.

As a friend of mine pointed out, funds to support airline companies was probably a complete waist, most will go bankrupt anyway. While they may go broke, the airplanes, airports and crews don't vanish, so in future the service will just be operated by new companies. You will see consolidation and as a result less competition resulting in higher prices. Same with gyms. Unless sitting on prime real estate needed for a higher use, a purpose built gym, with pools and other industry specific infrastructure will probably continue to be operated as a gym, by another company, or an ex-employee cooperative. The first company may have gone broke, when carrying the cost of fitting out the faculty, because they could not survive a month or two closed. However another party, moving in to a fully provisioned facility, with little up front build out cost, and in a depression having the leverage to negotiate a good lease, will probably do ok. What you should be on the lookout for is a fake bankruptcy, or reorganization, where they escape liability for refunding clients and vendors, but then want to turn around and charge you a large membership fee for singing up to their 'new' re-branded operation.

With the un-locked down, some public swimming pool started to re-open in my country. Last week, the swimming pool in my city stayed closed so i went to an other city at 20 miles (30 km). I swam two times with my thong. At the second time, i noticed that the staff was observing me during my laps. I was doing laps training (3200m / 2 miles). As i had finished and i was taking a shower (i was with a friend, a woman), a member of the staff told me : " The lifeguards have made fun of you. Don't pay attention to them. Thongs are not really allowed but i told them it was okay because there are not many people". It was difficult to understand him because he was wearing a P3 mask due to coronavirus. I did'nt understand who he was. A member of the staff of course but not a lifeguard. Was he the boss ? It was very strange because he said "thongs are not really allowed" but he didn't say "thongs are forbidden". It is a huge difference. And he didn't ask me to wear an other swimsuit next time. So I consider this experience like a "Go for it" as long as there are not many people.

Last week I was in another city for the in law family. I went to the public swimming pool. It is an outdoor Olympic pool. Unluckily, the rules are "no thongs". I asked myself if the "no thong" rules is applied or not. I wore my very cheeky swimsuit (it is almost a thong, and my wife say it is a thong). No one said a word to me. Finally, i saw a young beautiful lady(30 y.o), with her daughter, who was wearing a black thong. So, i was sure that ne "No thong" rule was not applied. I think the "no thong" rules are applied only if thongs are too extrem (G-string, see-through, etc.). If it a conservative thong (brazilian thong), there is no problem. At the end of my training, i saw a male teenager (15 y.o) who was observing me obviously underwater. I felt myself a little uncomfortable before I noticed that he was observing my butterfly technique. He then tried to swim butterfly. Once more, people don't care to my cheeky / thong swimsuit. If you act normally, that is to say you are doing your swim laps, people don't mind you.

I had posted issues I've had at the local gym in Central California with the manager saying "gender appropriate" swimwear was required. Last summer after managers changed (went from male to female manager) I went back to wearing my Koala "Highly Gifted" suit which is either "very cheeky" or pulled tight is pretty much a thong. One day I was going out to the pool when the old lady who complained about my suit before was already in the pool swimming laps. She stopped at the edge of the pool and looked like she was going to give me a piece of her mind when she noticed the female manager approach me. The manager told me that they were having new exercise classes and wanted to let me know what was available. After our talk she said "hope you enjoy your lunch swim" and walked off. The old lady just stood there with her mouth open. I never heard any thing about my suit after that. Fast forward to June of this year. The gym has changed ownership and got a lot more expensive. With the COVID-19 restrictions you now have to reserve a lane in advance. I have been doing my laps in the Highly Gifted suit for a couple of months now without any issues. The management have been at the pool when I've walked out and just act like I've got a normal speedo on. The downside to the COVID thing is that we no longer have people just coming down to the pool to hang out and sit in the sun. So there's very few women in anything but a speedo one piece. :-( https://www.koalaswim.com/HIGHLY-GIFTED_p_201.html

The city pool has reopened in my town for lap swim only, and allows one swimmer per lane for 1 hour by reservation only. Masks on except when swimming and showering. I usually wear jammers because there are so many people around but recently I’ve been wearing a JS bulge full bikini. During my swim I’ll pull up the back. No one has said anything or even given me a second look. Seems like people are in just to swim and get out. I really want to try a thong there. Pretty sure it’ll be fine.

Well I finally did it. Wore shorts on top of a blue Desmiit thong, walked over to my lane and set down my backpack. Took off my shorts and jumped into the pool. The first few laps were exhilarating. With so much less drag, you basically just slip though the water. I had one of my best workouts yet. No one in the other lanes nor the lifeguards seemed to care. Hopped out of the pool and wrapped a towel around my waist...didn't want to over-do it on my first try.

Congratulations shoyupoke. I'm convinced that the coronavirus offers to the male thongers opportunities to be bolder and to wear the thong at the public swimming pool. There is less people, and the few swimmers have only 2 concerns : 1 : to swim 2 : to protect themselves from coronavirus So, they don't mind if you wear a thong. And, for the staff, it is the same thing. They have only 2 concerns : 1 : the swimmers protect themslves for the coronavirus. 2 : the swimmers come back to the swimming pool. So, the staff don't mind about the size of your swimsuit. I have never dared to thong at the swimming pool as much as this year.

I do laps at my gym pool. It is an outdoor pool and there are apartment buildings around the pool. People can definitely see the pool from their balconies. Even though there are many eyes watching, I still wear a thong at the pool. I tan in a thong and I do laps in a thong. So far, it's been great as I haven't had any complaints and people just let me be. Also, I am not the only thonger at the pool. There are female thongers who lay out by the pool and they seem to not care. If they can wear thongs, then surely I can too.

Yesterday, i did my swimming laps as usual (3 times a week, a little more than 3 km / 2 miles each time). I wear a very very cheeky swimsuit which can be considered as a thong. I noticed a group of 3 women around 50 years old. Two of them take swim lesson on monday. The third didn't take lesson and came to swim in my lane. She was not bothered by my thong otherwise she would have chosen an other line and it is not the first time she see me (and not the first time she swim in my lane). So, she know what i wear. When the swim lesson was finished, her two friends came at the end of my line and sat on the edge of the pool. So, their eyes were right above me when i arrived at the wall. It lasted 10 minutes. Fisrt, I have thought they were not bothered by my thong, and second they can't have chosen a better place to look at my thong and my buns. I believe i make their monday each week. On friday, i make her day to a lifeguard (women, 40 y.o.). I finish my laps at closing. I am one of the last swimmer. each friday, she come at the end of my lane, where i go out of the water, in order to take a closer look.

As reported elsewhere I have been wearing my Snyder Kini for lap swimming. I used to take another suit along 'just in case' but now I don't bother. This morning after stripping down to the Kini I needed to visit the 'facilities' - a walk in full view of the front desk. After my laps I climbed out with two pool staff right by the ladder. No attention whatsoever. As mentioned before if one acts absolutely normally, doing nothing to attract attention there is no problem. I think the g string though - my standard beach gear - might be a problem in this environment.

I started going to a gym earlier this summer that had an outside and inside pool. The outside pool is almost resort like (snack stand, slides, etc). The first day I went, I wore a regular brief outside. However, a woman showed up a little after me and striped to a conservative thong! So I figured why not? And I wore a thong.

I spent the rest of the summer months going to the gym one or two times a week, and wearing a thong or g-string each time. Saw a thong or two on women almost every day (never any males, but some women Speedo’s). I also started to wear a thong bikini to swim both indoors and out (conservative Speedo type). No issues all summer.

Now that it’s getting colder the outside pool is closed, so I’ve just been doing laps in my thong in the inside pool. The gym provides towels. I’ve gotten to the point where I can just walk in with my thong balled up in my hand, along with a pair of goggles. Then change in the locker room and walk (in just a thong) to the pool for laps. There’s a locker room entrance to the pool area. It’s so great not having to bring a backpack in and the water feels wonderful in just my swim thong. Probably gone 30-40 times over the summer/fall with zero issues.

I now walk from locker room to pool area, swim laps, go to the sauna, shower then back in the hot tub. No one says anything. Every once in a while, I get a shit look from some old fat dude but who gives a flip. The sales people have come to the pool to show guest the wet area while me swimming in a thong but no looks or anything. Just act normal and you are fine.

So for the past four months I have worn a thong to swim laps about 4-5 weeks at my local city pool, and I’m pleased to report that I have had no negative experiences whatsoever. I’ve swam amidst all of their lifeguard and pool manager staff, usually early morning but sometimes in the afternoons or evenings. I’ve gotten some looks but most have been harmless. I’ve worn pretty conservative swim thongs from Desmiit, N2N, and Muscleskins. I will note that when you swim regularly any suit will undoubtedly stretch, so a drawstring is key. One Muscleskins suit I had never worn to the pool (3/8” sides and no drawstring) kept shifting out of place on my flip turns which was mildly annoying. I haven’t tried to hide myself while at the same time I’m not there to show off either. I’m just there to swim. I haven’t seen any others in a thong yet but I hope that I am doing my part in helping to normalize the attitude towards smaller swimwear at my pool.

Exactly! I had been a regular swimmer at my gym before COVID and I slowly got to experience the regulars get use to me being in a thong. I am a very routine person and I got to a point of walking to and from the pool in my thong as others were around the same way everyday. I didn’t flaunt or do anything out of the ordinary... just there to swim laps. Even the swim team guys and girls who were in small bikini type suits on the guys and almost thong one pieces for the girls, they would walk by casually without notice of my smaller suit.

before covid hit i would wear these to swim laps in. narrow bikini  they were great as the sides were really narrow.  Has a string in the front to pull them tight as well as the back covers a good bit but you could always scrunch the back in some to make it cover a lot less and just blame it on the suit if you were ever called out about wearing so little.

Man i can’t wait for Corona to pass (for all the obvious health reasons first) so I can get back in the pool. Like Blackthong23 said before Covid hit I was swimming laps in my Desmitt thong 2x a week and Gary Majdell Ultra Greek the other 4 days. I’ve only seen one other brief, 98% jammers, 1.5% square cut then .5 me. The day swims often had to many really little kids getting lessons in the other lanes and the lap lanes often had 3 people in them, so just played it safe then. But now it’s like shoyupoke has. 1 person per lane for 1 hr by reservation only. And they completely closed the locker rooms. I’d go a lot more but they only do 3 hr Twice a day 5 days a week. There are enough regulars that your lucky if you can find a time a week out. And they refunded everyone’s pre paid year membership a month into Covid. It’s now $15 per hour... Sorry too rich for my blood so now it’s Mountain Biking 4-5 days a week. I’m also in total agreement with the others who said keep thong on the conservative side and wear it like a normal suit don’t flaunt it and it’s amazing how few of any negative comments you will get. The more of us who do this, will make it easier for even more to join us. Let’s hope 2021 keeps up the progress for thong acceptance... Cheers!

I have pretty much switched over to thongs at LA fitness. On real busy nights, I may wear a very cheeky suit since there is glass on two sides at the pool with people coming and going. On Saturdays when it is not that busy, I wear a small ice silk from Alie Express which is very minimal.I have not worn a gstring. I do not want to push it and be told not to wear a thong at all. I usually swim laps, go in the hot tub, then go to the sauna, shower and back to the hot tub. Everyone is very polite and never really get a second look. I wear one in the locker room, no towel around me. If you mind your business and don’t wear anything too extreme, you are fine. There has been sales people that bring new guest in the pool area while swimming laps as well as other people in pool and hot tub and sauna. Not a problem. I only have seen a couple of girls wearing thongs or cheeky. Most guys wear dork shorts or occasionally a square cut or brief. Hoping thong wearing will catch on but I guess if it did to where everyone wore one it would not be as special to us. I think the trend is slowly moving there but guys for sure have a long way to go.

Swimming pools have been closed for 6 months now in France due to covid. Only few outdoor pools can be opened. So, I didn't swim for 6 months. I managed to book 2 tickets in an outdoor swimming pool last Saturday (it was very difficult). So, I went with my son, 11 y.o. After 6 months without wearing my swimwear thong, I didn't lost this opportunity to wear one. I did all my swim training with my black swimwear thong and I didn't notice anything. No coments, no double look... nothing. How good it is to be free to swim in a thong in an public olympic outdoor swimming pool. I swam with my son but as the weather was windy, he didn't finish his laps. He was the only child. Apart him, it was only adults. I expect to return next saturday.

When my son has finished his laps (1500 meters - 1 mile) , I told him to run to return to the changing room because it was very cold between the outdoor pool and the changing room. One woman gave me a smile because she was amused to listen advices from a father to his son. It was very pleasant to wear my thong swimwear freely. Others swimmers consider me as a normal swimmer, and yesterday, as the daddy of a young swimmer. No coments, no bad or double look, neither swimmers nor lifeguards. I hope that all the swimming pools will re-open shortly.

Stringueur , that sounds great.  Where abouts in France are you located?  I would love to swim in an outdoor pool in such an environment.

@Ragingloco, The swimming pool is located in Lyon. In reality, environment is what you make of it. I am able to wear a thong swimwear in several swimming pools (in fact, almost all the swimming pools) because : - I wear only very conservative thong (solid black color, lined, drawstring). No huge bulge, no G-strings, etc. - I swim like others swimmers - I do not parade around the pool - I avoid the leisure pool where there is kids, families, etc. Only the laps pools. This way, I was able to wear a thong swimwear even in a swimming pool where it was forbidden. However, swimming pool users are not the same during summer and winter. - Winter (from september to may) : only swimmers. It is easier to wear a thong, for male, during winter because swimmers don't mind. Swimmers are used to see men with speedo (speedo is the norm here). Swimmers are usually middle class, white, and over 25 y.o. They don't seek problems. - Summer (june, July and august) : there is a lot of teenagers and redneck. Even if there is a lot of female thongers, it is more difficult for men to wear your thong, because rednecks apply a double standard. During summer, I prefer to go to the swimming pool on the morning or on the evening. If I go to the swimming pool on the afternoon with my kids, I prefer to avoid problems and I wear a speedo. Last year, in an other pool, a member of the staff told me that thong swimwears were not really authorized (he didn't tell that it was forbidden) but it was OK because there was few people. I understood that he meant that my thong could be a problem during summer when there is a lot of asshole but it is not a problem during winter when there is only swimmers.

Today, it was my 3rd swim session, still with my son. I wore my thong swimwear again. The weather was warmer than last week. It was not cold. So the session was very good. A thong swimwear was very suitable with the sun, the good weather, for swimming in an outdoor olympic swimming pool. Once again, nobody said nothing and nobody gave a dirty look. It was like nobody noticed I wore a thong. Very pleasant to do my swimming laps while wearing freely a thong swimsuit.

In France only a few outdoor pools are opened. Indoor pools are closed. My local pool is closed and I have to do 40 miles for swimming. So it is very difficult to swim. I am waiting for "open water" now. I swam only 4 times since october whereas I used to swim 3 times a week before covid.

My gym pool has opened again but I am waiting for my second shot. Can't wait to swim laps in thong or G-String again. By June 15th, California will get rid of the Covid color tiers and open the whole state. This will allow gyms to open the whirlpool spa, sauna, and steam rooms.

I’ve been wearing a thong regularly to the pool for about 8 months now and haven’t had any issues.  It’s been very normal.  I’ve run into neighbors, made small talk with others including pool staff and management.  It’s been a very positive experience.  I haven’t noticed other men wearing smaller than a brief speedo, but I’ve seen female lifeguards with a thong under an oversized hoodie, and yesterday I saw two females in thongs in the outdoor pool.  One had on a one piece!  I think it’s going to be a good summer.

I've thonged at an outdoor pool before. I've thonged at a hotel pool. The next step is to thong at an indoor pool. In my neighborhood, there is an indoor pool that is run by the municipality. I can go there during the adult only swim time, but I don't know if thongs are allowed at the pool. I have to make a reservation and show my ID before entering the pool and there are security cameras and lifeguards around the pool. The maximum capacity of the pool is 10 people and it is always full. Since there are many eyes watching, I don't know if this pool would be an ideal spot to go thonging. Has anyone ever thonged at a neighborhood indoor pool?

kiyoothong, I have worn my thong swimwear at neighborhood indoor pools several times, with no issue. In fact, I think that it is easier in an indoor pool than in an outdoor pool. It's counterintuitive. Most of the oudoor pools are opened only during summer, and during summer there is a lot of kids, families, and rednecks. So it is not easy to wear a thong (more it is not easy to do swim laps with the crowd). So, if an outdoor pool is a good place for a teen who want to thong (because she can display herself around the pool for dating young men), it is not the best place for a man. I prefer to wear my thong swimwear in an indoor pool, during winter. There is few people, less kids, less families, only swimmers who don't care what swimwear I wear. Thonging in a neighborhood pool is easier than in a far away pool. You can go to the pool several times before thonging. So, you know the places. Lifeguards recognize you and know you are a swimmer. You can read the rules. You can do it gradually with the cheeky strategy. In the past, thonging was linked to tanning. People wore a thong for tanning, in order to reduce tan lines. Nowadays, thonging is not linked with tanning anymore. Thonging is a way of life. That is the reason why you can see more and more thongs in indoor swimming pools (almost only women). So, yes, I am used to thong at my neighborhood indoor pools, and there is no issue. And I can tell you that when you chat with the lifeguards, while wearing your thong swimwear, it increases your selconfidence, and you are totally confident the next times. One time, I was nervous. It was on monday. 2 days before, I was a referee for a local swim contest. I disqualified a young swimmer. It was the pool director son. So, I was a little nervous when he came to chat with me about his son disqualification (not sure he knew it was me who...).
