Got there about 2:30 myself—and you’re right the weather was great. I parked in the main lot—and it was by far the smaller crowd I’ve seen. I walked about 3/4s of a mile up the beach and found a pretty quiet spot. One other male thonger behind a wind screen and just a few walkers. Just wish I had been able to get there earlier in the day as the summer is decidedly slipping away.

And just like that, it feels like the summer is gone. Was eyeing tomorrow to get in one last beach day, but the weather isn't looking great. Barring some warm weather in the coming weeks, it looks unlikely that I'll get back to East Beach before next summer. I hate the winter.

Well DC this is southern New England so you never know about the weather. In past years there have been sunny and warm beach days into November, provided you don’t go in the water. This time of year you can count on fewer people at East Beach so the walk to a suitable spot can be much shorter. It is possible that the proportion of thongers to non-thongers could actually be higher. True East Beach opens up to 4X4’s driving on the beach but they tend to head to the less populated sections farther down the beach. If you have the flexibility in your life to be able to take days off with little advance notice there could still be some nice beach days upcoming.

You were right—as usual, Rick—but sadly I couldn’t take advantage of any of those 70 degree-plus days! How many days to June?

DC - in the first two weeks this November we had a number of potential beach days in Rhode Island (temps from mid-60's and up). I didn't go but I bet some did. That's kind of unusual but it happens. I think that's it for 2022 though. However, beach days in April are not uncommon. I've been there in April. Sixty and sunny can be a very good day especially behind a windbreak. April is five months away instead of seven (June) but it's better than nothing. See you then.

Did anyone get out to the beach when it was 70 this week? I wasn't able, but figured it wouldn't be quite that warm actually on the coast. Counting the days to summer!

I thought about going on Thursday but you know how life intrudes on beach time? Well, my dog had a long awaited echocardiogram appointment (really) so ...... In years past I’ve been to East Beach on a warm day in April (mid-60’s) and found it to be breezy but otherwise a viable beach day behind a windscreen. Now that the dunes are coming back it was probably a pretty nice day back in the dunes even without a windscreen. I wouldn’t be surprised if there actually was somebody thonging that day. If you ever have a chance to visit East Beach in the winter it’s definitely worth the trip. After five months of off season weather the isolation and pristine condition of the beach should be experienced. In any event, the way the weather has been this off season it won’t be long.

Just saw a forecast for Friday, April 14, and that might be the first beach day of the year. Forecast right now--and yes, it's a long ways out--is for 72 (F) and winds less than 5 mph in Charlestown. If that holds, I'm going to try to make it. Will be my earliest beach outing ever north of Florida!

First visit of the season to East Beach. The beach is not officially open but there were a few there to enjoy the low 70’s temperature and bright sunshine. I arrived in late morning just to try out the 4x4 but ended up staying a couple of hours. I wore nothing but a brief string bikini for the ride to the beach from home. I drove to the first parking lot about a half mile from the beach entrance. The piping plover ropes are already up blocking the nesting areas in the dunes but not blocking that much of the beach itself. There were a few thongers already settled in. Three guys that I could see all wearing very brief thongs. One was nude behind a windscreen. Very few walkers. It was extremely quiet time at the beach. I switched out of the bikini and ended up wearing a miniscule slide front g-string, even walking back to my 4x4 a couple of times with absolutely no problem.

Nice Day at East Beach. Went to East Beach yesterday arriving around 9 am to a totally empty parking lot. I wore a very brief string bikini for the drive from home to the beach and switched to the usual g-string upon arrival. The drive down the sand trail to the first parking area was uneventful except that I almost got stuck in the soft sand. I thought I’d try out 4 Wheel Drive (Low) with both differentials locked but in that soft sand where just normal 4 WD with traction control on works much better. I set up relatively close to the public beach area because I thought it would be a very quiet day with few beachgoers. I was right - the only person encountered all day was a college age young woman taking a survey of the piping plovers. We chatted for a while with no apparent reaction to my g-string. Granted this was an isolated event but hopefully it is true that thongs and g-strings are finally receiving a wider acceptance as the seasons pass.

I took advantage of the sunny weather this week for two more visits to East Beach. Monday it was totally deserted with Tuesday one of the other regular thongers present. The only other person was another one of the plover naturalists who seemed to be unconcerned about of my being almost naked. On both days I wore a tiny Parr string bikini for the drive down the beach and a tie-side thong for the sun out on the beach. I also walked back to the truck in the trail parking lot in the tie-side. On both days I could have been naked the whole time. At the conclusion of the Tuesday visit I stopped in the parking lot to get the truck squared away for the road (still in the bikini). While rearranging the bed a guy appeared to ask me about how crowded the beach was, babeep, babop and ended up inviting me to spend some time with him in the dunes. “No thanks, I’m straight.” He became very flustered but I just told him not to worry about it. Our conversating soon ended with me wishing him good luck in his quest as he headed toward the beach. That particular conversation doesn’t happen often, hopefully it’s the last one of those for the season. Otherwise, it was a very pleasant and very sunny day at East Beach.

Re:East Beach Charlestown Rhode Island RI

Shs I haven’t been able to get to East Beach for a few weeks but I can speak from the experience of a lot of years. The greenheads are there for sure. The only thing that will keep the greenheads is a stiff breeze coming off the water. Otherwise you need to carry a bottle of Deep Woods Off with Deet. I never go to East Beach without a spray bottle of Off. It won’t keep the greenheads from buzzing around but they won’t land on you if you’ve sprayed yourself with Off. The only bugs that Off doesn’t work with are the little black flies – if they are around forget it, nothing works. Give up and go home. Fortunately they are only around for a few days every season. Take a bottle of Off and you won’t need to worry about greenheads.

First time this year at East today. No greenheads or black flies.
Also, saw 2 or 3 young women in semi thong suits. Walked down about 500 yards from the RVs and aw 1 man in thong and 1 man nude. No couples or women. Very discouraging.

Jillzeeker, we agree, seems like a lot fewer thongers this season. The wife and I usually hang out between lots 1 & 2 on the trail and in some years past there were many more g & thongs! Maybe the unpredictable weather!

It's been years, but I plan to spend Monday at East Beach. Weather looks good, hoping breezes keep bugs at bay. Planning to walk from the car in a black thong, then switch to a red mesh g-string along the way. Will take a neon orange baggie to wear if the vibes feel right. I'm spending the summer in VT, with c/o venues nearby. Monday I'll feel overdressed! But got to avoid tan lines, I'm doing more modeling these days, where an overall tan looks best.

Great to hear from you, shs92645 and rickl454! I arrived just before 8:00, and was the second car parking opposite the port-o-potties. Walked onto the beach in my black Muscleskins classic thong, with a short, black mini-sarong over it. Down past a few families already set up (where did they come from!?), I dropped the sarong. Met one dude walking back, fully dressed, a pack on his back. Camping overnight? Very pleasant, advised he'd had no problems with bugs. Nor did I, not a single one landed all morning. Very light breeze off the water, good air temp. Took a swim awhile after switching to my tan-thru camo sock-jock, just shy of the RV camp. Water felt great, and the pouch slips aside for a good skinny-dipping feel. Saw no point to going further, so doubled back to a large, fascinating structure built of driftwood. Switched into my neon orange baggie, and lay out there the rest of the morning, leaving shortly after noon. Busy schedule the rest of the day, including a 7:00-10 :00 rehearsal for a week-long choral workshop I'm attending in East Berlin, CT, with a concert Saturday afternoon. Lying in full view, a number of textiled couples came by, and paid little heed (though I'm sure they noticed). Some set up nearby, and we all minded our own business. I took several swims, and felt totally comfortable, despite wearing so little. May be the result of my doing more work lately as an art model, posing for artists I normally work alongside as a fellow artist. With more folks on the beach, I thought of switching back to my thong for the long walk back to the car, but it was easier just to drape the mini-sarong around my waist again. I wouldn't walk back in just the baggie, that would be impolite.  Besides, I no longer seek the thrills I once did, seeing how far I can push the envelope. I guess I'm calming down in my old age (79, though feeling 25)! That said, back home in Florida, I enjoy pushing the envelope at SoBe, wearing just the baggie with lots more people around, or another smaller one in red mesh that slips way low, or even my old Dore cage. After the stares, I head up to Haulover for some calm relaxation, enjoying the pleasures of simple nudity without any eyebrows raised. What a blessing for such a resource to be close by. (Nothing like that in VT, but some great c/o venues nearby, like the Ledges and Rock River Preserve). Enjoy your summer on East Beach. I hope to, as well. Perhaps we'll meet up sometime. I'll be in southeast CT for the first three weeks of August, modeling 15 evenings for students at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts (that's a plumb job normally done by professionals; I feel honored for the invite after acing their trial session). I'll camp nearby, heading back to VT only on weekends, so if the weather is right, I should get to East Beach several times. Rocky Neck is closer (where I'll be camping), but nothing less than a speedo is required. That's fine for my long, early morning swims, but not for soaking up the sun -- no tan lines on this nude body posing on the stand! Maybe my figure will be immortalized in several works of fine art -- these young artists may become the next Rembrandt's and Michaelangelo's!

Had a great day at East Beach today. I was 4th in line at 8:20. Nice breeze. No bugs. Beautiful water. Didn’t walk much past guarded beach today. Spent the day in my Skinz super thin g StuffIt and was surrounded by an assortment of textiles who didn’t seem to pay much attention. Saw one young woman walk by in very small thong - other than that sun sand and ocean.

Have had only one full day on East Beach this year--and it's so frustrating. Between the strange, rainy summer and other obligations, I just haven't been there as much as I had hoped. Made it a couple of weeks, ago, and was one of 3 guys in thongs. Not nearly as many thonged women as I expected to see. Hoping the summer isn't quite over for me, yet, but the weather really needs to cooperate better!

I share your frustration, DC. Only for me it has been health concerns: recovery from a blood infection I got while on a trip to St. Martin in late spring. I've been good to go now for about a month but the crummy weather and other stuff ..... well, you know. Fortunately we are in a part of the country where beach days can last into early October. Hopefully there are still a few on the way.

Re:East Beach Charlestown Rhode Island RI

First day at East Beach in a long time. I finally made it back to East Beach after an absence of two months. Fortunately nothing has changed. The weather was bright sun with air temperature in the mid 70’s. Just enough breeze to keep the bugs away. I parked in the second parking lot about six hundred yards from the main lot – about half the distance of the lot where I usually park. The beach is pretty much the same no matter where one parks. It was almost totally deserted except for one of the East Beach regulars who stopped by to ask how I was doing. He was wearing a tiny g-string in place of his usual thong and had set up back up the beach where the population was greater. Like much of the rest of the country thongs, g-strings and cheekies this summer seem to be gaining greater acceptance. I wore my usual tie side cheeky string bikini for the drive to the beach and switched upon arrival to a tie side g-string for the rest of the day. Next week maybe a little closer to the "general population."

Spectacular day at East Beach. Arrived around 9:30 to a 2/3 full parking lot. I changed into a fuscia tie side g-string in the porta potty in the parking lot. Had to walk across the lot in nothing but my thong but it didn’t matter. I drove up to the usual parking lot on the 4x4 trail and carried my stuff onto a deserted beach. There were way too many flies necessitating a move to where the breeze would keep them away. The beach was pretty much deserted all day. By mid afternoon I’d had enough, I packed up and headed for the parking area wearing only my “g”, it felt so good walking almost naked. However there in the parking lot I ran into two lovely mature women on their way onto the beach. There was nothing I could do but smile and wish them a good afternoon. I got into the truck, turned on the A/C and sat back with an ice cold orange GatorAid. When I go to the beach I always pick up a bag of ice for the cooler so that I can have something really cold when I come off the beach. I just throw the bag into the cooler. Rather than empty the ice on the ground I grabbed the bag and headed back through the dunes in search of the two ladies. I gave them the ice and chatted for a bit, them in their conservative bikinis and me in my hot pink g-string. As if the situation was totally normal – actually it was. G-string, thong, conservative or string bikini the situation was and will hopefully be repeated when I go next week.

Another excellent day at East Beach. Arrived around 10:00 to an almost full parking and proceeded to totally deserted a4x4 Lot 2. Established my area about 50 yards from the path to the parking area. As the beach started to gain more beach goers and the tide rose I dragged my blanket and umbrella another 100 or so yards down the beach. And a little closer to the water to take advantage of the stronger breeze to keep the flies away. There were a number of walkers who passed by including a few lovely girls and women in unfortunately conservative bikinis. I wore the usual tie side string bikini for the drive to/walk along the beach and switched to a fuscia the side g-string for the day. I switched back to the bikini for the walk back to the truck. Reaction to my attire was non-existent for the entire day except for one guy who set up almost immediately behind me for a short time – a little too creepy at first but he seemed to be harmless voyeur. I didn’t care but it would have been nice to have had my wife or a friend along. Hopefully the summer-like weather will continue into the fall.

Hey Rick--Thanks for the reports. I've had a couple of guys set up camp much closer than would make sense on an empty beach--or walk alongside the dunes, even though there's just a few yards between me and it. It's so patently obvious. I don't know if that ever works, but I wish people would be more respectful. I think the rule should be if someone is minding their business on their towel, leave them alone. If they are up and about, feel free to say hello. But just creeping is, well, creepy.

Re:East Beach Charlestown Rhode Island RI

I couldn’t agree more DC, I’ve spent many a beach day completely alone and undisturbed. I have had some guys come to me and comment on my suit or tan – but you know what they are after. That’s OK, I guess they have to get it from somewhere - just not from me. Sometimes I have to tell the exactly that and it’s always been OK. I don’t think the DEM police spend much time at East Beach patrolling. These days everybody has a cell phone and knows enough to call 911 if needed. Apparently someone (DEM or town police) shows up eventually if called but over the course of a shift they all seem to have something better to do than bust nudes. I think if you are out of the way and not in anybody’s face as they walk by you should be alright. I always set up against the dune line, the beach is usually so wide that someone walking along the water’s can’t really tell if you are nude or what. I would not worry about the dune creeps, there aren’t that many and if confronted they invariably get the hell out of there.

Perfect last day at East Beach. Arrived around 11:30 to an almost empty parking lot. Parenthetically, the access road to East Beach has been miserable all season and today was no exception. I changed into the usual tie side cheeky string bikini while in the parking lot then headed onto the back trail down to the second 4x4 parking area. I changed into my lime green tie side g-string for the sun. Except for a few 4x4’s on the beach (after September 15th vehicles are permitted on the beach). Otherwise the beach was pretty much deserted. I did run into one of the regulars who told me that 80 degree yesterday was very crowded. The sun was intense so I lasted about three hours. This had to be the final day of the 2023 season for me. Not many thongs but there were a few. Hopefully next season will be as good. Sometime this season I was hoping to finally meet DCThonglover and especially Jillzeeker but it was not to be. Maybe next year. Best wishes to all!

Good move, DC but we have a long wait. You might think about getting a wind break. I’ve found that a 60 degree, sunny day can be a pretty good beach day if the wind can be blocked. At East Beach this has the effect of extending the season about two months – from the beginning of April through the end October. Google privacy screen, wind blocker or beach fence so see what’s out there.

First trip to East Beach of the season. This was a visit just to scope out the changes from last season. Fortunately nothing significant: the dunes seem lower than last year, the plover ropes don’t seem to be as extensive leaving more beach for the human population. The access road is much improved, almost all of last year’s ruts have been smoothed over. The beach itself was pristine with only a few 4x4 ruts. I wore a sexy Daniel Alexander the side string bikini. It was chilly but it was still nice to be able to walk the beach for a little bit in a bikini. In the sunshine, it was fine but in the shade it was downright cold. I had intended to explore a few of the walking trails behind the beach but it was just too cold for that. That will change in a few weeks.

First beach day of the season at East Beach. Arrived to a virtually empty parking lot around 9 a.m. and drove down the back trail to Parking Area 2 – about 6/10ths of a mile down the beach. Nearby there was one g-string guy and, later in the day a naked guy. Just before 2 in the afternoon two Federales showed up so I warned the nude guy to put something on – I’m not sure who they were but I think they might have been concerned with Piping Plovers rather than nudes but I still warned the nude guy to be careful. I was a spectacular day, weather-wise. I spent the entire day in a tie-side thong bikini – from departure from home in the morning to return to home in the afternoon. And finished up the day naked on my backdeck. All in all another perfect day at East Beach. Every thonger should be so lucky.

The 4x4 parking area (Lot 2) was likewise deserted all day. It had rained during the night so there were many puddles on the access road to the beach, the 4x4 trail behind the beach was firmly packed from the rain – traction was unusually good. The beach was totally deserted and looked like it had been groomed, like walking on a sidewalk – it must have really rained hard last night. There was absolutely nobody else for at least the first hour – I switched to a slide pouch Candy Man g-string, the size, cut and fabric felt like I was wearing nothing. Eventually, another g-stringer showed up around mid-morning. Every visit to East Beach should be this serene.

Thanks for the updates, Rick! Glad you're able to get back already. I'm hoping I can do so in the next few weeks!

No problem at all, DC. I’m lucky to live so close to that particular beach. Where for most going to the beach for the day is a big deal, for me I can decide to go and 20 minutes later be there. Having a 4x4 is a major advantage as well.
