Date Posted:11/07/2004 05:51:18Copy HTML I was at a friend's house last night discussing holiday plans and I'd said I wanted to make sure I avoid the school holidays when I go away because I prefer quieter beaches. My friends agreed.
I made a comment about preferring to find a beach without old topless women on too (no offense meant but I knew my friends - we're all in our 20s - would find the comment mildly amusing). One of my friends replied "Or old, overweight men in gold lame thongs". To which another girl said "Please tell me you've never seen that." She had. I commented that I'd never seen gold lame but I had seen "...older, overweight men wearing thongs to the beach right from the hotel." Then I said, "But I can't really comment, can I?" (from previous conversations my friends know I thong). Interestingly, the girl I would have thought was the most conservative, said "But you're not old and overweight, are you?" Her tone seemed to suggest my thonging was therefore acceptable. Not what I would expect from her. Now, I'm not trying to start a debate about thonging relative to age or weight and I'm not saying older, overweight guys shouldn't thong; that discussion's been played out on this board before. I just thought it was interesting that a girl with generally conservative opinions would actually justify my thonging. What made this more interesting is that these girls are not the kind that would normally express any kind of support about guys in thongs - in fact I usually get the "Guys in thongs? Ewww! Why???" type response if it comes up in conversation. I've previously wondered if that response is more of a 'peer pressure' response where they feel they have to echo/express the 'group' opinion; the group was more select last night so I wonder whether her comment was a truer reflection of what girls in their 20s actually think? Has anyone else encountered situations where a large group of girls express "society's view" but individually the girls express an acceptance of thongs on guys? |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:11/07/2004 07:59:21Copy HTML when revealing to people that i thong i usually get random mixed views. some shocked, some approving, some disgusted, some congratulatory, some bemused, some worried.
i believe it is ones perogitive to wear what they want. so if you feel compelled to thong, regardless of age size or weight then thats perfecly fine. others might not hold the same views. personally its going to be interesting in the coming month when our house (8 other housemates, male and female) go for a summer holiday. i fully plan to spend most of my time in thong bathers, and my GF will be in her WW's, so regardless of what they think, theyre gonna get used to seeing our thongs. summer is going to be fun. :P Edit: clarification |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:11/08/2004 12:46:14Copy HTML Nic,
I've always found that when people are not under "peer pressure" it gives them a freedom to express their own honest opinions. You quite often find that the view of the indivdual isn't quite the same as the view of the group. They know that in a large group of people they might get ridiculed for saying something which doesn't conform to the norm. You touched on the subject that they didn't like older guys in thongs but they didn't mind you in a thong. This is perfectly normal. When you think about it, is a 20 year old woman going to prefer someone her own age in a thong or someone her fathers age in a thong? It's the same when a woman hits 40 she would prefer to see a man in a thong of a similar age. Her kids are probably in their 20's and staring at someone like you just wouldn't feel right to her. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:12/07/2004 10:30:07Copy HTML A few of my female friends, my girlfriend, and pretty much all of her girlfriends know about it (their ages range from 20 to 28), and they love it. I think generally girls would be quicker to give approval (not that I would look for approval anyways) to a guy wearing a thong, but I guess what shape he's in, as well as how confident about it he is would play a role. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/26/2017 03:59:50Copy HTML I'm old in fairly good shape. The older women I date have reactions that range from "Ewww" to "Cool" when finding out I wear thongs. I believe that older women are alot more tolerant, after all we grew up in the wild and "woolly" sixties and seventies. Look at any photos from then and you'll see men running around in short shorts or cut-offs and a lot of women were braless. You young dudes have it far worse as today any unaligned societal behavior is instantly posted into the internet for judgements by all ones peers. Ever increasing peer pressure to conform must be a hard row to hoe.

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/26/2017 06:06:44Copy HTML So thirteen years have passed since the start of this thread. My question is, do you think women have become more accepting towards male thongers or do they still hold that 'guys shouldn't wear thongs' attitude?

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/26/2017 09:32:31Copy HTML I think women are more accepting when it comes to males in
general wearing thongs simply because women (and men) are more accepting of
most non-mainstream fashion and behaviour. However, when it is comes down to a woman’s male partner wearing thongs I doubt much has changed.

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/27/2017 02:17:09Copy HTML With the years I've grown a lot wiser, and with that, the ability to not really care about what others think when it comes to thonging in public. I took a very big leap of faith a few days ago when I went to the beach in my thong. I actually wore 2 suits, the thong and a tight Tyr short. As soon as I laid down my towel I spotted a few thongers (all female), one sunbathing 10 feet from me and a young couple playing around in the water. I slipped off the short & laid on my back. A few times I got up and got in the water to cool off. Not once did anyone say or do anything.
So yes, I dare say that these days it's much more accepted. And if they didn't, I'd do it anyway, because I want to, not because they don't. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/27/2017 06:22:24Copy HTML I agree with grabeach, women (and men) are more accepting of most non mainstrain behaviour or fashion.
Since the last 20 years, our society have changed. In europe, most of the country have accepted the gay mariage for example...Society is more open minded.... I do bicycle. 20 yars ago, it was very rare for a man to shave his legs. Now, i can see a lot of men who shave their legs ( and more who shaved their dick, but i don't see it...).However, i don't agree with grabech when he doubt that it has changed for a woman's male partner.I think women expect their boyfriend to be clean and to wear a beautiful shirt with a beautiful tie. They don't realy care of the underwear. I think the main problem is the communautarism. On the one hand, some people are more open minded... but on the other hand, in France (i don't know for others country), we have people who are less open minded, more and more religious. It is a very big problem here, because social standard are not the same every where. And it apply for men and even more for the women |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/27/2017 09:25:16Copy HTML All of MY GF's have loved my thongs and my thong wearing habit. All of my neighbors approve too. The women smile. The men just stare when I am at my Houston townhome community pool. Half the women are wearing thongs anyway so how can they not be accepting of an in shape handsome man in a g-string.

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/27/2017 07:10:10Copy HTML Chatted to married mid 40's female open minded friend who often tells me i have nice body. She often is inquisitive asking how well tanned i appear where i go. So i told her i enjoy wearing thongs at the beach telling her the problems i face with people's reactions. She immediately laughs bending over then asks how small is it string i wear, etc.. So i try to explain to more laughter, smiles while many other females overhear but i then show her pictures on my phone.
With other group of thongers lined up asking her could she pick me out. She stares at the photo telling me immediately noticing my body out of the group photo. Her laughter stops but admires how i look wanting to see more photos. As i show her more she tells me all the photos are from the backside do you have any from the front? Yet only criticism i got from he was how overweight the females wearing thongs accompanied me in the photos. Goes to show you woman are often taken aback seeing male wear a thong. Yet if he is fit enough and has nice body woman who enjoy observing males manhood checking it out. My female friend told me she wants to surprise me one day at the beach, visiting seeing me in a thong, again she laughs at the thought again. Later she calms down telling me seriously that i have the body nothing wrong showing it off, saying i've worked hard to attain such great physique. Ever since showing her the backside photos she now calls me sexy man, playfully swiping upon my body as if i'm being naughty individual. Although was tempted to show her my go to nude photos which i often sent to other lustful woman. While my female friend did ask me if i took photos of myself alone? Suppose it's a subtle way to inquire seeing me in the buff. Wait and see if i decide to let her see me in the nude. Doubt she would get offended in fact would enjoy it. Only decision is should i send it out to her as a copy or just let her look upon it on my phone. Will try to update my photo album to share on the forum. While i did observe other females surrounding me overhearing our chat with my gal pal. The reactions were mixed some would roll their eyes whenever the word thong was mentioned. Also the chat with my female friend about grooming the pubic region one young asian 20 something female was upset enough to leave, shaking her head in disapproval sneering in disgust of our conversation mentioning of me being shaven. Suppose if female finds you attractive meaning your closer to her age then whatever you wear can be overlooked or very least corrected when settling into a relationship being a couple. Yet if you have a thin lean body often it is shocking or amusing seeing any male thong. Had group of young 20 something notice me standing talking to another beach colleague in my dubio g-string back facing the group. Only heard was laughter then gal yell to another quick take a picture. To many they find it amusing seeing strings on male going up it's butt crack. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:08/27/2017 10:34:47Copy HTML Was in Mexico with my wife and another couple. Second day there I busted out the thong and both women were loving it. They were taking photos and kept asking me to go for walk on the beach with them, or walks to the water. At one point when we were chilling on the beach, me in my thong, she started quizzing me. Very causally. How long have you been wearing them? What other colors do you have? Do you wear a thong when you work out? JUST a thong, or gym clothes too? I wore the thong the rest of the week and it was no big deal. Had a great thong tan line when we went home.
That was about 5 years ago and to this day, the friend always makes comments about my "banana hammock" but never teasing or laughing. Just matter-of-fact. I mentioned the other day I want to go swimming at the lake and her quick and deadpan response, "So you can wear your banana hammock" and my answer was a nod and a "Yep!" If you can pull it off and you have confidence about it, they don't care. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:09/26/2017 08:40:23Copy HTML About 20 years ago i was at a training class in Biloxi, Ms. and in the class was a girl that I had known years prior. The first few days of class we caught up on old times and then she asked what I had planned for the weekend. I told her I was thinking about going to the beach and work on my tan. She asked if I minded if she joined me. I said no,I did not mind, but I will warn you that I do wear thongs to tan in. This brought a puzzled look to her face, then she started laughing and said "Are you serious?". I said yes.
Saturday morning I ask her if she wanted to go to ship island, to which she agreed. We took the charter out to the island. Once there we walked across to the gulf side and down the beach a ways and set up. I removed my shorts like normal wearing a black mesh G-string and started putting on lotion and she just stood back admiring me for a few minute before saying a word. Then she smiled and said "that's one tiny suit you have on". She asked me questions about wearing thongs nothing negative was said. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:09/29/2017 03:39:34Copy HTML While I have always liked both my men and other men to wear thongs at the beach or pool, it was unusual 10 years ago. Sometimes they got negative reactions from both sexes. More recently, the negative reactions are less and less. Now neither men nor women seem to get much direct insults, but it is hard to know what might be said later behind their backs.
I have often thought it would be interesting to go to a beach where I am not known and lay out in a modest swimsuit near some "average" women. I know other women and my husband and other male friends who thong could pass close by both to try to get direct reactions (maybe a bit of chit-chat) or just pass by to see what others say. Then I could hear what they say after the thonger has left. I think if I do this, I should do it a number of times. I could probably spend weeks or months gathering data, but I think I would find that without peer pressure, women in general would be more accepting or even supportive of people in thongs -- especially a good looking man. I think it is the peer pressure from the group that makes people hide their real feelings. Which makes me wonder in what other areas people hide their true feelings. Mary |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:09/29/2017 10:04:36Copy HTML Mary0826: Don't think women hide their feelings about a male in a thong because of peer pressure. Let's not prejudge "woman" as wallflowers that needs entire group of ladies to make decisions for each of them. Such as what to eat, what to wear, etc.. Females are more empowered and stronger then we all give credit to or believe is the case.
I to once felt like yourself wanting to be the fly on the wall after I passed by. Over many years wearing provocative clothing from female gym attire, thongs, tiny bikini briefs, legal public nudity, I have overheard a lot. Reactions depend on the location, beach, pool, your visiting and the demographic of certain people. If there is a family husband, wife young kids they aren't going to except male thonging in fact mock and laughter is usually the outcome trying to avoid the male. If it's group of older generation ladies there traditional beliefs have difficult time accepting any male in a thong, although they sometimes find it entertaining to observe together. While it leaves what is essentially younger crowd generation. They may say nothing, being PC and respect the a male's right to wearing a thong. Doesn't mean they enjoy it or find it attractive, in fact they may be uncomfortable with a male showing that much. There are women who act cold or not intrigued, often moving away with others from the male thonger. Lastly leaves the lustful ladies who admire a male form in it's entirety. Complimenting, smiling and getting photos of said thonging male. Females are attracted to boldness and fit physique. Recently I found some ladies want to touch too. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:09/29/2017 11:23:24Copy HTML I wore a swim brief on the high school swim team so that was never a big deal. However when I was seventeen I went to CA to visit some relatives. While there I purchased what was almost a string bikini. I wore that to the beach one day with my two teen girl cousins. When I pulled my shorts off they were speechless, but in a good way.
After getting over the initial shock they told me several times how much they really liked the bikini and made sure to show me off to all their friends. That of course was a great boost to the ego and probably started my love of wearing, and showing off, tiny bikinis, thongs and g strings. Had it been a negative experience rather than a positive one, I'm sure I would have ended up the same but it would have taken me longer. I will say too that it was one of those cousins that got me to shave and keep the area hair free, and that's a memory that brings a smile to my face still. Certainly the majority of the time that a female has seen me in minimal swimwear or underwear they have been very approving of my choice, and a few times it has caused some husbands to get pissed. Most of my guy friends know I wear them also and after a bit of teasing they have no problems with it and a few times I've been asked to pose for their wives. Once, during the time I was divorced, one of my friends asked me to go with him and his wife on a boating/ swimming trip. They knew I wore thongs but because I didn't know who all else would be there I put a pair of running shorts on over my red wet look Skinz thong. When we got the group of boats out to where they wanted to anchor and party, my friends wife asked me, in front of several of the other women, why I wasn't wearing a thong. I told her I was but wasn't sure it would be ok so I had it on under the shorts. The women started chanting for me to take it off then 3 of them came over and pulled the shorts down, so I spent the rest of the time in just the thong. More than one woman came by to give me a pat on the butt. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:01/15/2018 04:27:00Copy HTML I grew up in the country and my closest neighbors with kids my age was a family with three girls who I hung out with, but never dated just friends. We were very close and knew each others secrets. So when I was a teenager I started wearing bikini underwear and from there they progressed skimpier and skimpier. So in the summer when it was warm we would often go down to the creek and cool off, I would and usually wear my underwear and they would usually go in their bra and panties. As we were all starting to mature the oldest of the girls started wearing more sexy panties and bras, then one day she wore a G-string and her sisters laughed because until this point I usually had wore the briefest bikini underwear. I commented on her G-string and she had bought it at Fredrick's and she laughed and said they sale guys G-strings too..Not really thinking much of it, but it was clear approval from her, it was a year later before I ever bought a G-string even thought she continued to wear hers the rest of the summer
The next summer when we went to the creek to swim I had my G-string on under my shorts and when I got undressed no one was really shocked, They actually said it looked good on me but I soon realized it wasn't meant for swimming because once wet it got heavy and stretched and was difficult to keep on until finally the younger sister said "why don't you just go naked" From then on we would just skinny dip. No one really cared and the older sister had wanted to skinny dip all along but wasn't sure her sisters might tell on her. |

Re:Female friends' opinions Date Posted:03/06/2018 08:03:18Copy HTML Recently I guess you could say I converted a female friend to thonging. We have known each other for a few years now and I've made various thong jokes in the past that she always brushed off as just a joke...she's used to my sense of humor so never looked any further into it. Only recently did I find out that she didn't wear them and was kind of against it. One evening during a conversation about working out, I made a comment about how she would look great in one now that she has really trimmed up. To my surprise she agreed that maybe she should give them a chance again.
Sure enough a few days later I find out that she had been out shopping and bought a very moderate thong to try. There was a remark made about me trying one since she did...well she was in for a shock haha. We talked about it more and I asked her about her opinion on them changing since she's started wearing them now, she said it had. With her new open minded approach, and after she has seen a few of mine, she has become quite the fan of guys wearing thongs. Now she checks in from time to time to see if I'm wearing one. So I would say it's made a positive impact on her, I've even been asked to point her in the direction of skimpier options. |
