I plan on actually being at Folly on the 4th of August, looking for someplace to either thong and maybe roam, or go nude with alittle discreetness. I was thinking the old Coast Guard area near morris Island lighhouse., or parking at the beach park and heading way past the concessions and such. I may even scope out IOP and Sullivan's too. I'd like to keep in close touch with anyone from Charleston or nearby.

I ran into a male and female, the guy was wearing what I think was a Dore pouch thong and was completely shaved and the woman was in a typical g-string 2 piece. Botyh looked pretty fit in my opinion. I really wanted to go chat with them but my niece was with me so I walked on by, but I did return shortly after but the couple were gone. I got away with a great deal of nude and thong bathing on the West end of Folly Island by the lighthouse. I also checked out the east end where I'd "heard" that most of the gays hung out but I only saw 2. I have more to tell but I'm tired of typing already from answering 5 emails. I really wish I got to knopw that couple, or if they happen to be members in here? *fingers crossed* Anyone from that area wnna beat me up for info, do get back with me! |

Well it was another great time on Folly beach back in June. I took TONS of pics and even went nude 90% of the time. If anyone would like to chit chat about it, feel free to PM me. Since the last 2 years seemed to be fairly emtpy out there along the 1/2 mile stretch of beach overlooking the lighthouse, I'd say it would be very safe for all the topless and thongin you'd want to do, if not go nude also. I'll be back out there sometime late Spring early Summer. and will post when I am vacationing out there. |

people say "No, I didnt see thongs on the beach" or "the beach was really busy/packed". You need to realize when we refer to Folly beach, we dont mean the main stretch of beach where all the activity is! We mean, the more secluded sections, such as the lighthouse end or way down past the beach park area. OF COURSE you're not going to see thongs down by the lier, or near the washout (surfing area). I'll be down in Charleston on August 18th and I WILL be out at Folly overlooking the lighthouse. As for the regular section of the beach...I think I'll remain fully clothed. If you want to go nude or thongin, best bet, go to the lighthouse end, or beyond the beach park lifeguard area. |

The beach backdrop was the old coast guard station, near a shipping becon in the dunes. Alkso saw a topless British chic in a thong laying on her back last year too.

I was on the North end of Isle of Palms in the Wild Dunes resort area last weekend. I saw a very nice tend while I was there. No, I didn't see any thongers, However, what I did see was that most, about 95%, of the ladies on the beach were wearing smaller backed bikinis. No, they weren't Rios, but you could call them Brazilians. You could easily see a lot of butt cheek on the ladies. I was pleasantly surprised to see this. Its a trend I'd like to see continue. Maybe that means that smaller and smaller bikinis are coming into style? We can only hope. |

I'd even wear my muscleskins suit on the weekends, and occasionally thong it during the week. If you go to the quieter section between the Sand Dunes Club and the fort, use common sense and discretion you can get away with wearing minimal gear on Sullivans. Just watch out for "Irv the Perv", the creepy old man trolling behind the dunes and the cops driving down the beach.

have yall read my info about where to go on Folly? Nice LOOOONG stretch of beach and no one else around. Hell you can even go nude, just sit down in the beach chair or cover up when a boat goes by heading out to the sandbar around the lighthouse. I have more, very specific info if anyone is interested. just PM me. I have offered this info so may times that I have it saved in an email so all I have to do is copy and past. I even have Google Earth photos to help show where things are. |

At the north end near the lighthouse there are plenty of places to thong. I had no problems at all. Friday was a nude day since there was no one else out there except one other nude guy. He was playing with himself and walking around with an XXX most of the time. It doesn't offend me all that much, hopefully he was just new and excited. People like that are going to ruin it for the rest of us though.

And 2 years ago, we did thongs (and topless late at night) at the Country Inn and Conference on Hwy 17 near 526 in Charleston (West Ashley).
As well as the Marriott in Cambridge Mass on MIT campus in Boston. (unrelated to Charleston of course) |

I've worn everything from board shorts to a thong. I've seen numerous girls in thongs on Isle of Palms both at the very top of the inlet by the Links course, and just a bit south from the beach-club / Grand-pavillion areas (the main vacationer beach by the complex pool and volleyball courts)
Typically, as previously posted, the guys all wear board shorts. However, there are TONS of Europeans in the last few years and it is totally common to see numerous speedo's or box-cut suits. But, it is still 95% board shorts. Hopefully, the 5% begins to grow. The girls are indeed wearing smaller cut back suits these days, to many different extents. I agree that it is a great trend for all thong-lovers. The girls in thongs are typically 26-35 years old, where-as somewhere like Miami or Hawaii, the thong girls are basically 18 and up. Slightly older thong crowd here, I'd call it "experienced" and "self confident." I usually wear a shorter board-short type of suit (80% of time) but I often wear my running shorts (10%), a small speedo (5%), and a thong/rio now and then (5%). When I've thonged, it has just been when the wife and I are hanging out on the beach, either early in day or late, and I typically have it on under a more common suit. Or, late in the day after a run I may go for a swim in it but leave my running shorts on the sand nearby. Usually I have to chase the kids like a mile in every direction so I'll only thong when I'm going to remain in one place with a couple of beers/drinks with the wife. I've also thrown a thong on when with other couples visiting us and walked around casually between the water and our chairs. There's always safety in numbers that way and it usually comes via a "dare" from one of their wives. Turning it into a game makes it easy and acceptable when it may often not be. Please do note that this is a VERY conservative, family oriented beach scene. It's not a "party beach." With that said, I think I like to "mix it up" as well as "protect it." Being a part time resident, I love the diversity we get but it is a 98% family scene so use your own discretion. There is nothing wrong with throwing a towel down and laying out in a thong here, guy or girl won't be bothered, but please respect the privacy of the people around you who in many cases pay $2k to $10k a week for this wonderful sliver of sand for their family. I hope to see more hot suits in Charleston but please, as always, be respectful. The people on this board are respectful -- so leading by example is the only way to stop others from giving us a bad name. |

I do alot of biking on the beaches at a lower tide (either going out, or coming in) when the sand is packed nicely. I had ridden from Wild Dunes to Breach Inlet, then started Breach Inlet to Fort Moultrie, and have never seen a thong in the last 8 years. Now thats not to say that they arent around, but I havent had the luxury of seeing anyone thonging on the 2 most family oriented beaches, IOP and Sully's. Now, if you want a good thonging beach, with less need to the "playing it cool" and having alittle more freedom, go to Folly beach. Head down towards one of the ends of the island. The lighthouse end is very nice. Park somewhere near the turnaround where the gate blocks off the old coast guard station, head out to the beach and turn left, find a section between the groins where the large dunes and old CGS is the backdrop. This a good area for thongin, and yo will be left alone. Ya may even encounter another thonger in this area. Sometimes a topless female. The other section is the Folly beach park end of the island. However, since hurricane Irene, the beach park is closed, but you can get passed the park on the beach and head down towards the end of the island. Now, do not misread my post as "he is a person who seeks out thongers to gawk". No! We are more interested in finding someone to join in, and also to enjoy the fact that we arent not the only one who enjoys such beachwear. However, we go further than that and nude sunbathe on the very tip of Folly that overlooks the Morris Island Lighthouse. |

I've been down to IOP in high season and during the edges of the offseason, and I have always seen what I would call a euro-sized speedo on a guy. I also saw 1 guy thonging by the inlet while I was playing the links course over a year ago...he was also surf fishing. I admit, i have never seen a guy walking the beach in a thong, and the times I have thonged, I was definitely "playing it cool.". Hahaha During August of last year, I saw 2 really hot moms with their young kids playing in the sand, in great thong suits. Prior to that, I saw a group of 20-yr olds in super small Rio-like suits by the grand pavilion area during memorial day. That was 2 trips in a row! I admit, it is NOT a thong crowd, but people are wearing smaller suits, and there is no doubt that more Europeans are coming over, particularly German and British. It's a great beach to visit, which is why we are there. I'm not looking for sobe when I'm there, I'm looking to just hang out with family and friends. I'll take your advice and visit Folly when I'm looking for local adventure!! |

However, there is a trick to getting away with thongs, or even less on the far end of Folly by the old coast guard station. We have gone nude to the water and back on early mornings, around 7am, when people havent ventured out to the beach with their dogs yet. Ususally we head down between that last couple of groins to do so. We have even headed out really early to watch the sunrise and get some shots of the sunrise against the Morris island lighthouse, and walked nude most of the way out that stretch of secluded beach once we see no one is around that early. The other end of Folly, past the beach park area, is also nice. depending on the beach layout, There were a couple of different years that there was a large gully, about 3 feet deep we were able to lounge and swim in. and the nice thing is, even when people walked by, we just stayed in the water until they were passed us, then got out. |

We were on Folly last weekend, I was wearing Marcuse 'Arrest Me' and wife was wearing Malibu Strings Lettuce Edge Thong. She was posing for pictures on the water's edge and before we knew it beach patrol was right up on us. We continued with the photoshoot and they stopped right next to hear, I thought, "oh boy, they're going to give up grief." Instead they asked her if they could snap pictures with their iPhones and then even offered to take a picture of the two of us! No mention from them that thongs are not allowed there! I say, if you go to Folly to thong, act natural and they won't do anything. If you scramble and try to coverup when they approach, then they'll prob be interested and give you a hard time. And remember, don't drink. They'll take your cup and inspect the contents, they're that serious about it. The alcohol fine is $950!

No one said one negative thing to us. Folly is a sort of hippe haven, everyone is very tolerant of their neighbors. It is perfectly fine to be yourself. Only thing that will bring you attention from the patrol or raise eyebrows from the locals is if you are being a loud, drunk redneck.

Walked around the end by the old lighthouse and went about 1/4 mile down the beach. Very little traffic and even those walking by could care less. One other thonger and one nudist. Good vibe, nice beach, will definitely go back.

Please cutback on starting new threads. Post replies to to existing threads on the subject.
