Date Posted:08/05/2004 09:26:06Copy HTML Hello all!
I hae been wearing thons for about two years now as underwear and recently bought a few thong swim suits. One problem, to chicken to go outside. I laid out on my deck for some sun for the first time tonight because I knew no neighbors were home, but I couldn't get off the deck. I live on a lake and would love to get out there and swim and have some fun. Any suggestions for getting over the fear of being seen?
Thanks

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:08/05/2004 09:28:11Copy HTML One thing I do is try to forget what I am wearing, and don't think about it. I just imagine I'm dressed like everyone else! It usually works! |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:08/06/2004 12:18:01Copy HTML You just have to get out there and do it. Remember the first time you went to school and didn't know anyone? And you didn't want to go but your parents made you. Well it's basically the same principal. You have to bite the bullet and walk out to the lake in a thong. Have a swim around, catch some rays and relax. In life the first time you do anything there is always a bit of apprehension. But once you get over that first hurdle it's plain sailing all the way. |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:08/06/2004 02:29:25Copy HTML One thing that may help is think about what you're wearing now. If it is board shorts go to a smaller suit, maybe a mid cut or conservative bikini, then after that becomes no big deal...which it will, go to a less and less conservative cut suit until you're in a thong or in our case...depending where we are at...a string. You will find that most people really do not care, unless you're in their face with it. Most of all be confident and take any ribbing you get in good nature, but don't back down. It is more comfortable, in my opinion. Try getting out of the hot tub when it is cold out (40 F or below) those long cold pant legs are the worst. Thats when mine got shorter, and skimpier, except of copurse when no one else is around it is nothing. |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:08/06/2004 10:51:06Copy HTML I appreciate the input, if it wasn't raining today I was going to give it a shot. I guess I am still going to wait until there are no neighbors at home. I am going from regular shorts and I can't help but feel really naked in a thong. I might have to wear a bikini first. Getting used to wearing less without people around wil probably ease me into when there are. Any suggestions for around the house things to do besides swimming or sunning? I guess I am looking for more reasons to venture out.
Thanks again |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:08/08/2004 08:37:25Copy HTML I agree with the others. Starting out with the smallest suit that still makes you feel comfortable is the best way to go. If you are really into small swimwear, you will want to make your suits smaller and smaller over time as you become more comfortable. And I'll warn you. Once you wear a smaller suit you will never want to go back to wearing more! I really can't forget what I'm wearing when I'm on the beach because I've become totally addicted to the feel of the g-string strap. It now feels uncomfortable to me if I'm not wearing it, but I do forget how tiny my suits are now. Sometimes when I'm wearing a g-string or inspecting my tan in a mirror, I can't believe that I have reached the point where I can wear THAT in public! |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:08/09/2004 09:49:37Copy HTML Well, I made it off the deck, but I had a towel wrapped around me to get to the water. I definitely have to start with something other than a thong to get the water without a towel. Just curious if any one knows how I find out if it is even legal to wear a thong in MN?
My thongs are not too skimpy, Undergear clip thong and pocket thong. How do I know if that is too revealing? I also have their greek bikini, I think I am going to start with that. Thanks for the help! |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:09/18/2004 12:27:22Copy HTML I have been laying out on the deck now and am not too concerned about people seeing me, there is not a lot of trafic in my area. It is getting a bit colder outside now so laying out is not always an option. I just got some new snoopy neighbors so it might hinder my progress a bit. I am not sure if I will get out much more this year, but it is my goal for next year to only have tan lines from my thongs instead of my shorts.

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:09/19/2004 11:07:59Copy HTML I started with the traditional swim speedo, and got smaller and smaller. I have to tell you my opinion on the greek bikini before telling you a story about my "boot" thong. The Undergear greek bikini doesn't provide enough coverage around your balls and you get the "gap". I personally don't like the "gap" so I wear my Skinz bikini when I can't thong because it does a good job of keeping everything wrapped up. I was wearing a light blue thong last week in the backyard pool and my wife comes home. She looks at me and shakes her head (the wrong direction). She says it looks like I'm wearing a boot, because my equipment is directed forward. I said it's pretty comfortable, but it does look a little different than most of my lycra swimsuits that try to squash my stuff. I kind of hoped she would get turned on by seeing it displayed "front and center", but I guess I was wrong. |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:10/04/2004 08:29:29Copy HTML One technique that I have used from the beginning has been to put the suit on and look at yourself in a mirror. At times my initial reaction has been, "I can't do that!" Years ago that's how I felt when I made the transition from a Speedo type suit to a string bikini which consisted of two triangles. More recently I had a similar reaction when I first looked at myself in the Koala Feline and Sheer Side Camel Toe micro g-strings. Both of those suits cover the absolute minimum. After I have gotten over my initial shock and have grown accustomed to a suit, I have the courage to wear it to the beach. Your fear of being seen is totally normal. Wearing a thong or g-string in public is a very intimate invasion of privacy even though it is voluntary. Years ago I read about one mind set that actors use when they play nude scenes on stage. Since you can't really see yourself, it's the audience that must adjust to your nudity. It may sound crazy, but that is one way to look at it. |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:10/19/2004 09:53:43Copy HTML New problem...
I have a new girlfriend and she is pretty conservative. I know that she wears thong underwear sometimes. Iit is too cold to continue tanning in a thong, but I need to tell her or let her find out I wear thongs in general. She has seen some of my boxer briefs and commented on how much she liked them. I am thinking to trying the same approach and wearing bikinis next and seeing her reaction. Any suggestions? Thanks for all the input! |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:10/19/2004 07:11:09Copy HTML I'd just wear them. If your underwear choice is such a huge issue for her, then I'd be questioning if she is the right person for you.
That's just my thoughts on it though. |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:10/20/2004 02:28:26Copy HTML Listen to Ozzi's advice. It is pretty much correct. If she finds your underwear so offensive that she would leave you over it, then she is not the girl for you. If you are still apprehensive about wearing thong underwear in front of her gradually wear smaller and smaller under garments. This will help you if you feel too nervous to admit to her straight away that you like wearing thongs. If the chance arises in conversation to tell her that you wear thongs I would advise you to take it. I'm sure she will enjoy the fact that as a man you have the courage and confidence to wear a thong.
Regards

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:10/31/2004 05:33:25Copy HTML Just wanted to let everyone know that things went very well this weekend. I didn't wear a thong in front of her, but I did go for the bikini briefs. I got a very positve reaction out of her so I will probably wear a little less next time. Thanks for the support and ideas.

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:07/14/2025 03:08:26Copy HTML My Day: The Quiet Unfolding of Boldness
It began not with a splash, but a question:
Could I really show up like that? Not just wear it — but own it?
At Backwater Jack’s the popular adult pool with a swim up bar.
I arrived prepared. A blue Speedo lay hidden under square-cut trunks — an intentional layering, a compromise between want and what-if.
Yesterday, I wore a square cut brief under his board shorts but decided to peel off the shorts and rock the square cut when I got to the pool. Today I didn’t even bother with the board shorts.
The place wasn’t packed, which made it harder in some ways. More eyes meant blending in. Fewer eyes meant fewer distractions from your own hesitation.
I laid down the towel. Took off my shirt. Let the sun hit skin.
And then: I stood at the railing, thumbs in the sides of the square-cut.
One breath. A long pause. Another.
And then — slid them down.
The Speedo caught the light. The world didn’t stop.
There were no stares. No smirks. No applause.
Just water, music, breeze. And Daniel — now lighter.
It was real. It was done. It was mine.
The Condo Pool, Act I: Tension
The day could have ended there. But something deeper stirred.
That night, I returned to the condo pool. This time in black boy-shorts, ruched in the back — cheeky, teasing, layered over a half-back suit.
More daring. More vulnerable.
An older couple floated lazily in the water.
I sat, adjusted, lowered the waistband just a bit.
Almost.
My heart raced. I breathed. I debated. Almost.
When they began to leave, I made his move:
The boy-shorts came off. The half-back suit remained.
But the couple didn’t leave.
They sat nearby. Present. Observing — or maybe not.
Still, nervously, I stood. Adjusted my towel. Turned my back to the pool, deliberate.
I laid the towel down. He walked calmly into the water.
Not hiding. Not flaunting. Just being.
The Final Act: The White Thong and the Sunset
But the day wasn’t done with me.
Something in me whispered: Go again. Go further. Go fully.
So I did.
I put on the white Desmiit thong — no backup, no cover-up.
No shirt. No shorts.
Just a towel around his neck and the quiet certainty of a man done asking permission.
I stepped out of the condo.
The pool was empty.
The sun was setting.
Windows loomed overhead — unseen gazes possible, but unconfirmed.
And still, entered the pool area wearing only a thong, at last.
Not rushed. Not apologetic.
I set down the towel — my only cover — and I walked into the water.
My back bare. My body claimed.
No easy exit now. No retreat. Just presence.
I floated in the fading light. Felt the cling of the suit and the water on my buns.
And when I finally rose to leave — wet, exposed, visible — I didn’t hide.
I walked back to my condo door in nothing but that thong and my breath.
No shield. No justification. No turning back.
The Truth of It
This wasn’t about shock.
This wasn’t about being seen.
This was about no longer hiding from yourself.
I didn’t just wear a Speedo today.
I didn’t just swim in a thong. I experienced and choose freedom not with noise, but with steady, silent certainty.
I brought all of myself to the surface and didn’t take any of it back. |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:08/14/2025 12:24:30Copy HTML Just keep doing it as much as you can. You'll get used to it and won't notice it. Of course be mindful of which beach you go to. This applies to all people, not just males. |

Re:Getting the courage Date Posted:06/25/2026 01:44:50Copy HTML Helping others take the courage to wear a G-string
Lately I take extra thongs and g-strings with me to the lake just in case I meet a guy who is curious and wants to try wearing one. Today I was walking and saw two young men (18-19) swimming and said hello. One guy started qsking questions when, where, and why I started wearing G-strings.
His friend was asking a few questions and he said it takes a lot of courage to wear what you are wearing. I told them I had extras and they could have if they would put them on now. I told now is the time to try wearing one since it was just the three of us for a long distance. The quieter one said he would try it, you only live once. The friend agreed and became very eager.
They tried on the g-strings and looked great, much better bodies at their ages than me at 75. One was shy while the other one kept saying how fantastic it felt and he now understood why I loved wearing so little. They had to be somewhere, but both took the G's. The eager one said he couldn't wait to wear his again at the lake and would look for me. I kept telling them how good they looked.
I have close to 300 thong and g-strings. I will take more thongs next time, I have given away 2 N2N string suits this year and they are some of my favorites. |
