Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:09/28/2013 08:23:15Copy HTML Sorry Pete not yet, From a manufacturers point of view it can take a long time to make that decision.
They would have to get all the sales data in from all the retailers plus they also need to see if the fabric is available in other colours as well (as it's a very unique fabric - took them ages to source) |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:10/23/2013 09:52:40Copy HTML Ok i've just got back a selection of what colours it "could" be done in (due to availability of the dyed fabrics) so I need some community input on this as i'm going to start with 3 colours first to see how well it goes and then if it goes well we can add in more colours
So if anyone wants to help out please post below what your choices would be in order of preference Colour options would be Black White Skin Tourquoise Red Yellow Grey Navy Blue Emerald Brown Pink |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:10/28/2013 02:33:54Copy HTML I would like the elastic around the waist to be more robust (too flimsy before) and for the suit to be an inch narrower in the front.

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:10/28/2013 12:37:00Copy HTML Black, white and skin. I like the muscle skin suits micro thong. You should use that as inspiration. But one thing that I don't like about doreanese is that weird shape of the back where it thins on the waist only to taper out. A thin uniform look going into the crack to form a nice true string is much sexier.

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:11/06/2013 08:37:18Copy HTML I see most of you voted for black and white but i agree with heypete that those "generic" colours are boring ( But I must say they sell really well ) , so I do hope that the new maker will provide more colours that aren't always be seen in the market.

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:11/08/2013 07:29:10Copy HTML From experience the two hardest colours to sell are Green and Orange.
We've stocked plain block colours like those before and they are always the ones left over and up going into clearance just to shift them (we had some orange ones ages ago and even at 70% off they wouldn't shift but all the other colours would) |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:11/13/2013 07:57:15Copy HTML Doh! What about purple, turquoise, red and pink? Do they sell well?
Is there any scope to have different coloured waist bands and stitching like the limited edition plumes you did? I mean the pink and red ones where the centre material was that colour and the waistband and stitching was black so it 'framed' the colour. But not just black but yellow / red for example? Is there any possibility of the rear curving up to the waistband more? The Plume was nice as it did this - I know you can't copy (or can you since they've stopped production) but you could make the curve tail go wider than the plume. A bit off topic but do you know if Joe Snyder will ever produce new colours or patterns of their Basic thong shape? |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:11/17/2013 02:04:04Copy HTML To Heypete:
I don't want to deviate from the original plan as otherwise you can always keep adding or adjusting and it never ends and there has to be a end point in design (which has already been decided and finalised). On other news the Doreanse Aire is going to be made in Flesh tone and White (possibly not until January, depending on availability of the fabric) Sorry no idea on the Joe Snyder - plus which would you think is the basic thong type ? Thong 03 or Rio 11 Thong. |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:11/18/2013 11:52:29Copy HTML No worries, just giving (hopefully!) constructive feedback. It's not often you get to talk to the people who can make a difference! I bought the Aire in black and I'll be buying the new Aire in white to support the product...in the hope that the more you sell the more likely you'll add interesting colours!
And I see the Thong03 as the 'basic' shape. Thanks! |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:12/31/2013 09:18:53Copy HTML It is a pity that colours such as orange, green, ... are difficult to sell.
I love bright colours such as blue, green, yellow, orange, red I like white but I find that it is difficult to keep them perfectly white and they require too much care. Flesh tone is OK but same as black and white, one get tired of them ;) |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:01/15/2014 07:15:42Copy HTML Despite what had officially been told, I've just had the next collection lookbook for AW 14 from HOM and it's still got the fredy strings in it plus the HOM plume strings in black and a colour that they are calling chair (which looks the same as the skin tone to me).
I'm waiting for confirmation from the sales manager to see if they have been left in by mistake or that they are now continuing them. |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:01/17/2014 09:02:25Copy HTML Thank you for this information.
I have never been interested in the Fredy since I prefer nylon/elastane material such as the Plume It is good news if HOM caries on with Plume but black is black and "chair" is French for "flesh" or "skin" tone |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:01/27/2014 02:52:56Copy HTML Hi justhomdotcom
To me the best thong by far remains the plume I one. Yes that one with the one logo on the front and the even lighter fabric (it felt!). http://www.deadgoodundies.com/apparel/HOM-plume-string-mens-white.html Reasons for me it is/was much superior to the II version is that the pouch was larger and the indeed less strechy waisband allowed the thong to hold much better and higher if needed, the plume II waistband unfortunately still used for the ornament thong is just too flimsy and the thong just ends up low - it does not look great... Perhaps something you could feedback to Hom or you could work with the Doreanse folks:-) Any chance of this happening, I will definitely try and get a fair share of the stock!! |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:03/21/2014 11:13:30Copy HTML I agree with what high cut says - the waistband is too flimsy and the front sags with the ahem...weight! The HOM Plume Posie was great for this - held perfectly!
Any news on the Plume - is it still being discontinued? No sign of alternative colours on the Dorease equivalent... |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:03/31/2014 09:11:57Copy HTML I just got the Doreanse AIR1390 alternative to the Plume.
It is a fair copy but: - material is not anywhere as smooth as the original Plume matérial - the shape of the pouch has not quite the cut of the Plume and not as fitting (I bought a S size and it appears to match a 4 in HOM size) And please push them for bright colours! I bought a few of the last "snake" Plume, just to make sure ;) |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:08/09/2014 08:34:26Copy HTML Just in case you guys don't know - DGU now have Manstore M421 Stripper Strings in stock - which I'm finding better than the HOM Plume because they come in COLOURS!!! The only downside is that they have clips at the front for strippers to 'ping' the thongs off as part of their routine which are annoying for day-to-day wear. But they are available in bright pink, yellow and blue!!!
Maybe if they did them without the clips they'd beat the Plume by miles and make HOM have a rethink about not doing more colours! |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:08/09/2014 07:14:12Copy HTML So they were discontinuing their thong line and now they're not? It seems they realized that they were making money off of them?

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:08/09/2014 07:19:23Copy HTML I'd like to think that we played a small part in getting them to realise what a mistake they were making by discontinuing them.
I've lost count of how many emails I had to reply to when people found out, asking me to tell HOM they should keep making them but I always had to give the advice that if it's just me that's telling them it's only 1 voice if EVERYONE tells them direct then it's many voices and would have more effect. |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:08/17/2014 08:10:18Copy HTML I'm sure you were instrumental Adam.
Is there a good address to contact them directly via e-mail? I have worn HOM thongs since the 80's and I'm glad they are carrying on with a limited range, but I do miss products like their sports range (especially the bright coloured micro fibre ones) and their thong swimsuits which were reasonably conservative (well: as far as thongs go!). It seems since Triumph took them over they've gone for big-selling commercial stuff to the detriment of the more edgy styles that made HOM's reputation in the first place. One of my favourite ever moments was buying a HOM swim string in a big department store in Sheffield, only to have the older female shop assistant raise her eyebrows and grin, commenting that there was more label than swimsuit.. Priceless! |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:08/17/2014 08:22:14Copy HTML I don't have a specific address for them which would deal with customer feedback so it would probably best if you just went through the contact us form on their website (as I think that goes straight to their HQ in Obernai, France)
I wouldn't say it's since Triumph took them over as they bought the company in 1986 and up until about 3 years after I stopped working for them (on a freelance basis) I would personally say they were at their peak (especially when coming out with ranges like the 3001). After that I think they went a bit too mainstream and concentrated too much on what I would call "everyday" underwear (something that is comfortable, you can wear all day and isn't going to frighten the horses) instead of catering to their core and loyal clientelle. There were a number of senior management changeovers each (from what I could see) wanting to put their own stamp on the brand instead of keeping to a plan of just creating good, innovative and desirable men's underwear. I'm sure they are making a lot more money in what they are doing now as they are catering for the masses rather than the smaller market of true fans of the brand and you can't blame them for that as that is what business is all about but at the same time it does (well for me anyway) give you a longing for times gone by. |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:08/17/2014 09:09:21Copy HTML I understand it is a business, but they built their reputation on 'frightening the horses' at least a bit, and the fact they were innovative and prepared to make mens underwear more sexy helped lead to more designer labels being innovative in design and use of materials. I'd have thought they'd have wanted to keep producing their more sexy stuff as a sort of flagship and also make the more everyday underwear too. I feel they became a bit embarrassed by their earlier ranges as men's 'mainstream' styles became more conservative.

Just got the Brochure for Spring/Summer 2016 and it has new colours for the Plume String twinpack and they are NOS (Not of stock) which means they will be in continuous production rather than the seasonal lines where they are made once and thats it. |

Re:HOM Plume thongs are being discontinued Date Posted:08/05/2015 10:11:25Copy HTML Blue, Red, White and then the standard Black and Flesh.
One thing I noticed is that they no longer have the HOM logo on the waistband. Good news is that all the colours are repeatable stock so if stock runs out we can just order more (unlike fashion lines where once you have the delivery that's the lot) |
