No, Collins averages $148 per night the last week in January according to hotels.com. Their self parking is $25/night and there are no resort fees. Pool closes at 8pm. I stayed there on my last trip and drove to SOBE, parking in the garage on 16th between Collins & Washington. It's a good value option. For a more upscale experience the National hotel is thong friendly and right on south beach but the pool closes at sunset. If you want a 24-hour pool that is thong/topless friendly during the day and with skinny dipping after midnight then stay at the Standard, but it is very pricy this time of year.

For those visiting Miami with a car think of expanding your horizons of thongwearing to different locales if you have time. Yes Southbeach is the thong capital of the US and many types of suits can be worn there without issue...butt you should also cheek out mid beach sites- many with parking and restrooms including 36th St, 74th St, 64th St, and NorthBeach park (though I go there frequently, when I read reviews on tripadvisor, etc, I see mention of peaceful and "privacy" - -which I take advantage of with what I wear) With this plan you can widen your options of hotels and their locations and "commute" to the beaches! Most any hotel pool will be thong friendly in Miami-Dade county for cooling off after the beach. If you've got the days of course also cheek out Ft Lauderdale Beach and Haulover Beach. Look over threads on this board and you'll see years of reports and experiences! For those with more time include Delray Beach, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, Pompano Beach too.

Thanks for all of the info.   I'm still on the fence after reading everything about how expensive it is down there.    I called the Collins and the parking is $75 a night!   The prices on their website are the $400+ but on hotels.com they are around $175.    I did find the Meridian in South Beach which gets great reviews on Tripadvisor for about $245 plus $50 per night for parking.     I'm not really into the hip hop scene which seems to be the big vibe in South Beach.

I may just go to Cocoa Beach for a few days and avoid the hassle of South Beach.    I could also drive to Playalinda which is an hours drive from my brothers place.

The person who said that either misspoke or thought you were not staying at the Collins and wanted to park there. Reason why I say that is a cpl years ago I stayed at the Sherry Frontenac across the street but they had no close by parking so I asked the Collins if I could park there. At first they asked for $60 but I talked them down to $30. This was when parking was only $15/nt. They gave me a discount cause they saw I stayed there many times before. Last year the Collins raised it to $25 a night if you're staying there.

Haven't looked lately butt about 3 years ago I booked at the "MB Hotel" which is across from the Collins at 65th because CH was booked- rates were higher but not by much and have a small parking lot across the street..might check it out...recently remodelled.

Lindros, the Sherry Frontenac is now a big crapshoot. We went last year. Got a beautifully updated room at a great rate, but the check-in experience was the worst I’ve ever had. Our reservation wasn’t ready until around 8pm and many others complain about the long process. It happens too often. I would personally avoid this place to ensure a smooth experience.

I stayed 2 nights at the Sherry Frontenac several years ago when I got "walked" from the Collins. (that means they overbooked and send me across the street to a cooperating hotel honoring my room rate and letting me park at the Collins lot) (they aren't the same owner just cooperate). The SF otherwise uses a garage on ?66th St with fair rates. The rooms are nicer than the Collins "plain", the pool wasn't heated but large- wore a baggie string there in the morning- shaded in the afternoon. They did have free breakfast unlike Collins. The large number of international airline personnel laying over there may have to do with room availability. The beach out back can have several or more European "stews" in their thongs! I noticed people checking in early in the morning and people checking in and out late at night to get to their flights. Seems their commercial contracts allow for these off hour arrivals and departures so they seem to have housekeeping around the clock turning rooms---until the music stops- like musical chairs some people may not have rooms when they arrive.

A piece about an event at the Standard Hotel poolside during Miami Music Week. Brooks Nader with viz nips in that dress. ( the pool is toptional) The event was called Skinnydipped- accurately because a few of us have skinny dipped in that pool many times at night without any problems- not during the party. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-15686469/brooks-nader-diplo-skinnydipped-sunset-session-miami.html

Piece about the new version of the Delano... fond memories of 1 am! "MIAMI BEACH — In 1995, when Madonna held herself a lavish 37th birthday party, she chose a suitably trendy location: the Delano, the art deco Miami Beach hotel that impresario Ian Schrager had transformed into a magnet for the glamorati and guests that aspired to be like them. With its tastemaker clientele and discreet yet indulgent atmosphere, the hotel felt like a mix of a St. Tropez resort crossed with a fashion week after party. “There were the cool rock star people, there were the Hollywood billionaire types, the downtown fashion New York people, people swimming naked in the pool at 1 a.m.,” said David Barton, the popular trainer whose gym had a branch in the hotel for several years. “You were just in this other world.” A couple of decades before celebrities’ every move was documented on social media, the Delano was a safe space for revelry without consequences, perhaps with some selfie-free relaxation thrown in. The ambience stretched throughout the property, which included poolside bungalows and Blue Door restaurant, of which Madonna was an owner."

I spent a few hours at the Delano in the evening about 10 years ago at a conference. I walked out to the pool area but hey had a sign that said swimming dawn to dusk, so nobody was swimming in the pool that night. The 1990s were a great time, wished I discovered South Beach sooner. Wonder if the 1am skinny dips will be allowed again after the renovation :-)

Stayed recently at the Tony Hotel because of a good deal on low room rate. It was mostly an older crowd at their rooftop pool. Only a couple of children all week, but they used the pool to swim more than adults. No concerns about my teardrop g-strings. I saw thongs on a few women every day. One near g-string. About half of women had cheeky bottoms. For men only one wearing board shorts. There was one Tony Hawk wannabe who on multiple days came and went in street clothes gripping his skateboard. He did put it down one day (you gotta put down the duckie) long enough for a swim of 20 minutes, and he had the smallest trunks. Two men had bikinis, and one was with a woman wearing a small thong. No problems with my small swimwear at this hotel. I got a day pass for one day at the National Hotel where the pools, the bar, and the restaurant are better. The manager recognized me in just a second and greeted me warmly. He said the occupancy had been down all Spring. It was not crowded. At times there were more staff than guests. Staff were all aiming to please. Ambience is better being adult only. I wore my tiny teardrop g-strings without any reactions. Total acceptance from staff and other guests. About a third of women had cheeky bikinis. One near thong. Two near g-strings. No topless. For men no boardshorts. One man wearing a bikini. The rest trunks, or street clothes. The National remains a great place to wear tiny swimwear.

The W on South Beach is closing Aug 19 for renovations. Under Rueben Brothers it will reopen months later as a Waldorf- Astoria hotel.

On a recent trip to Miami Beach I took only my teardrop g-strings for swimwear. I had enough to wear 3 different ones each day for a week. I got to the pool early and all the lounge chairs around me filled, like no one cared what I was wearing. I wore one tiny g-string in light coral pink color with white strings, so it contrasted with my tan. First time for me with that color. I attracted no attention. I noted a range of ages but mostly middle age to older crowd. At the pools about a third of women had cheeky swimwear. One woman arrived wearing a moderate bikini, surveyed the crowd, fixed her gaze on me, and immediately put her backup plan into action. She went to the restroom and emerged wearing a tinier top and cheeky bottom. I saw 4 or 5 women wearing thongs each day. Some started in thongs but changed to g-strings. There were 3 or 4 with g-strings each day. Four women had the next to smallest microminimus g-string style with both tiny top and bottom, like a true microkini. One was mesh fabric. Maybe I helped influence others. There were at least three topless women each day, and up to seven in a single day. Two of them had no top to wear, one had only a tiny thong for the first couple of days, then she switched to a g-string, the other wore progressively smaller thongs. They walked around topless including to and from hotel cabana rooms to the pool and out to the beach without attracting any attention. Both their partners had longer trunks. For men I saw no thongs, just 10 bikinis, one sunga, and several square cuts. Two of the bikinis had one inch sides, so smaller than the others. No board shorts at all. Away from the pool I took miniskirts to wear with mesh thong bodysuits I also had small crop tops so I could go without anything under the miniskirts, which is way fun to do and super comfortable in hot weather. After wearing such almost revealing outfits for a while I've gained confidence to stop worrying about what others think and enjoy myself. No wardrobe malfunctions with practice. I'll post a separate report on these items. Quite a few of the employees recognized me from past visits and were very accommodating. It wasn't crowded, but not like way few people at the hotel. A manager told me their summer business would have been in trouble without world cup soccer, and Miami had Argentina playing, so lots of tourists from there. They had a lively street scene. People not going to the soccer matches came for the Miami Beach scene going on. So the National Hotel seems even more receptive to minimal swimwear and topless. Absolutely no one, neither staff nor guests, seemed to care what others were wearing.
