I was at Richmond Hotel during Thanksgiving weekend. Temperature on the beach was 70s. When cloud covered the sun, it was chill to me, so I didn't spend much time on the beach. Female thongs were very common on the beach. Most European men wore square cut speedos. No man thong spotted. There is no front desk at Richmond Hotel. Everything is handled by Southseas. Guests can use both pools. They are heated. The deepest end is 8 ft. Southseas pool is rectangular, so better for laps. All male guests wore shorts, only one male wore a squarecut speedo. I always wore a skimpy speedo in the day, so I got some looks, but no comment at all. I only saw one lady in a thong. I didn't want the attention, so I didn't thong in the day time. In the evening, the lighting at Richmond pool area was better; Southseas pool has lights only on one side, and the lighting around the chairs was not that good, so it was dark. There were constantly kids in the pools, but in the evening, they tended to play at Richmond pool because it was brighter. So I could only use Southseas pool for laps. While swimming laps, I always wore a thong. One night, I wore a TxM thong in navy color for 40 laps, and I never thought the color was completely ruined. Now I can only use it as underwear. Fortunately I didn't use it in the day time. Otherwise, I would be really embarrassed. My hair was still tangled even after shower. I have no idea how much chemicals they put in that pool. I don't remember I had a similar experience at the Richmond pool. (I remember Richmond pool is a salt water pool.) But overall, I like the place. It is basic, but very convenient to the beach. The heated pools are large enough for swimming laps. Just be careful about the chemicals in the pool.

I was also at the Richmond Hotel before Thanksgiving with my woman and found the merger with the South Seas to be positive. We spent most of our time at the Richmond pool, I wore a Joe Snyder g string while she was topless. We both swam in the pool and walked to the rest rooms with no problems from the staff or other guests. We did not try to attract attention to ourselves but we did not try to hide the fact that we were in minimal swimwear. With that said when I went to the bar I always put on a small speedo type swimsuit over the g string. She was the only topless woman and I was the only man in a thong type suit however there were a number of women in thongs and men in speedos. The situation was pretty much the same on the beach.  There is a lot of construction going in the garden at the Richmond and there were a lot of management types going through the pool area, they saw us but had no reaction one way or another.

Glad I read this as I’m staying at South Seas hotel for a couple nights. I figured I would thong on the beach but nice to know the pool could be an option as well.

So this hotel is thong friendly in my opinion. I wore my Desmit thong in the hot tub and pool on the Richmond side, nobody cared. I walked to the bathroom and bar many times, the bar tender is really friendly and takes good care of guests. Being we had no sun, the next few days I wore a very checky brief and ended up talking to many people in the hot tub. The knob broke to turn it on and I had a cool pen that was able to turn it on so I made lots of friends. Ended up going out for drinks with another couple one night. Great place and would go back again.

Where is a good hot tub to use in Miami area if you are not staying there ? Easy to basically sneak into and use wearing a thong ? Discrete? Thanks

Yeah, just walk into the South Seas hotel, order a drink at the bar then cut over to the Richmond side for the hot tub (Richmond hotel merged with South Seas hotel). Best time for a visitor to use the hot tub is between sunset and 9:30pm which is when security starts doing hourly rounds. The tub gets light use in the mornings too. However afternoons it's quite active and you may not feel comfy in a thong.

I'll be staying at the South Seas February 9th. I have a work conference in Ft. Lauderdale the 10th-12th so I am coming down a day early. Hoping to see lots of ladies in thongs. I will be wearing a thong as well.

Best place to see ladies in thongs is on the beach, not at the hotel pools. Thongs have become a rarity at South Seas pool, however on the Richmond side I've never gone more than two days without seeing a woman wearing one at the Richmond pool. If you're daring the Richmond pool offers good skinny dip potential in the early morning 6:15-6:45am, after 1:00am, and sporadically between 10pm & midnight. Pools are open 24 hours.

I've been trying to find that out myself. Both hotels were bought out last year with the idea that they would be renovated and a 3rd building would be built on the back of the property. With covid19 my bet is that they stay closed for 3 years until renovations are complete. I have a friend who lives close to South Seas so I'll ask him if he can find out more info. I emailed the owner's company last week but haven't heard anything. This kinda sucks cause they were my go to hotel for 24 hour swimming and late night skinny dips.

Looks like South Seas and Richmond hotels are permanently closed.

https://therealdeal.com/miami/2020/04/29/the-palms-shvos-miami-beach-hotels-and-hard-rock-cafe-lay-off-hundreds/

"Highgate Hotels permanently laid off 45 employees at South Seas, at 1751 Collins Avenue, and the Richmond, at 1757 Collins Avenue. Both properties are owned by developer Michael Shvo and his partners Bilgili Holdings and Deutsche Finance America, which together paid nearly $140 million for the hotels last year. Shvo previously said the pandemic led to laying off the employees earlier than anticipated. He and his partners plan to redevelop the site, along with the adjacent Raleigh Hotel."

The three hotels on the north half of the 1700 block of Collins (Raleigh, Richmond and South Seas) are boarded up with signs of construction. The Raleigh, in particular has some activity going on. FYI Many of the hotels in South Beach have not opened back up yet. The beach will be closed for July 4 weekend.

Bmicro ... thanks for the info. I contacted a number of hotels in Miami Beach to see if any of their pools were open 24 hours. Interestingly one of them (Four Palms [which was formerly Four Points Sheraton]) responded by saying that Miami Beach has an ordinance that hotel pools can only be open from dawn to dusk (i.e., no night swimming permitted). They said a few years ago they would ignore that to let people use the pool 24 hours but got in trouble so now they have to enforce the rule to keep their business license. Now I've looked through Miami Beach code and couldn't find anything in that regard. The only ordinance I found was a FL state one that said if night swimming is permitted the pool must have the necessary lighting. So does anybody know any more about this supposed Miami Beach ordinance, and if this is true how can South Seas, the Standard and Surfcomber get away with 24-hour pools?

There is currently an order that limits beach and pool availability to certain hours but it is pandemic related. Prior to that I have never heard of a restriction on pool hours like that.

I just stayed at Marseilles Hotel. Not recommended. Their pool hour is 8am-8pm. Their staff told me the pool hours had been always like that regardless of this pandemic. I tried to get to the pool around midnight, but the door to the pool was blocked by a large indoor plant. And in the morning, it had to be after 8am. In addition, their pool area is always crowded due to the layout unlike their neighbors (Richmond or Southseas).
But it’s interior decoration is better than Richmond hotel. And it’s resort fee include 2 chairs and an umbrella. This is probably unique on SoBe.

Sagamore next door is the same way regarding early closing time for their pool. Sucks that both the Richmond and South Seas are closed for a long time. Hope that when they re-open they'll still have 24-hour pools. I think the National has 24-hour pools, however.

I don't know about the pool at the Bentley (you may want to call and inquire) but the beach right across the street is certainly topless and thong friendly. You can wear whatever your bring as long at it is something. The bike ride along the ocean walk south to the marina and then north is great. It is finished all the way to Bal Harbour and the bridge to Haulover except for a stretch around the Fontainebleau which is under construction. You can wear your thong while riding. There is a curfew at 10:00 PM that includes Lincoln Rd.

I wanted to point out that there are two Bentley hotels which are sometimes confused. There's the SouthBeach Bentley Hotel on 5th and Ocean and then there's the Bentley Hilton about 4 blocks away at 101 Ocean , also in SoFi. The Hilton one in my experience has a less casual pool, but the beach chair field is thong friendly and topless common. The Bentley on 5th I've stayed at a few years ago, the pool was thong friendly, topless I don't know- probably fine. Their chair field like all in that stretch is thong and G friendly and topless common.

thanks you so much for the info. we had a great time at the 101 ocean location. sorry to report no men in thongs sighted, except me of course. the ladies were in thongs, not in the majority, but enough to leave no doubt that they were both legal and accepted. on two different days, we walked the beach from our complimentary hotel lounges to the south park jetty to watch and photo cargo ships coming in to the port of Miami, what a sight. another morning we walked the beach up to 5th street , the bottom edge of lumus park, and then strolled back down along the ocean walk, me in just a joe Snyder rio thong and t-shirt (waist length, no reason to hide) and wife in maaji thong w/ top 😂 and a mesh waist length coverup. We did see numerous men in speedo each day. No pool report, sorry water there was too warm. We did shower off when returning to the motel propety, that drew lots of attention from the lunch crowd and the few patrons around the pool. while showering we were basically at front and center of all eye, as the dinning is open air directly next to the pool. did my best to make them regret no having the day off work 😎!

Currently staying at the Collins hotel on 66th and will be here all week. Much to my surprise there's probably no more than 3 or 4 others at this hotel right now. I couldn't recall seeing any maids either, just one desk clerk. Had the whole pool to myself today. No issues wearing skinz roman gstring during the day and no problems skinny dipping so far tonight. I noticed they're not locking the pool gate at night either. If it stays this empty I may try a new baggie suit during the day, or perhaps no suit at all.

Let us know how the pool goes, if they're casual about a baggie now. The manager didn't like my baggie sling a couple of years ago. Check out that bagel restaurant a couple of buildings south on collins, good ones baked right there. Is there anyone on the beach around 66 th st? How is Haulover now, have you been up there lately?

Bagel place is awesome. Had breakfast and lunch there today. Venezia's pizza one block north is excellent too. The beach was packed on Saturday from the public parking area on 65th and southward. Not sure how it looked behind the old Deauville. And South Beach had a good crowd on Friday with the nice weather. Today (Sunday) it rained in the morning but sun is trying to break out now. Haven't been to Haulover lately, not enough female eye candy for my taste.

Laid out for just a couple hours today since it was mostly cloudy. No issues again at the Collins in a sheer gstring. Skinny dipped only about 15 minutes tonight. At 9:30pm the desk clerk came out to lock the gate but I wasn't swimming. This was the first time they locked it in the 3 nights I've been here.

I was at Standard Spa in September and October. Had one of the bath terrace rooms. No problem wearing minimal swimwear during the day including my black mosquito net zero-1 from beachkini. No problem sitting on the terrace with the curtain door completely open in the nude. And, no problem (after the bar and restaurant closed) walking nude (without carrying a towel or anything else) from my room to the hot tub and back each night. Many topless women, many females in g-strings, a few guys in smaller swimsuits (but not thongs). I only saw one other completely nude couple (swimming in the pool late night). Hammam, steam room, and sauna are closed until spring (using the time to remodel).

Bar and restaurant close at 11pm with last seating at 10:30 for guests and 10:00 for non-guests. I waited until after 11:15. Still about 10-20 people around the pool and hot tub area, but no one seemed to mind that I was nude.

Today at Collins hotel wore a gstring until noon. Then I finally got the nerve to put on a baggie for the first time. Only problem is the baggie wouldn't stay on when swimming or even when walking from the chair to the pool. So after messing with it for a while I just ditched the baggie and stayed nude. I think a couple maids passed by behind me but nobody said anything. Around 2:30pm I saw a family of three (two sons, hot mom) coming toward the pool. I was nude on my stomach which they saw. I casually reached for a towel for cover and slipped the gstring back on which they had no reaction too. They were European for sure, the dad showed up later and waved hello as he passed by me. I wonder if I could have stayed nude, the kids would change in and out from wet swim suit to dry shorts.

Yes there is some difference between discrete nude and flopping your cock and balls out on top, so that's probably good what you found.

Did you see many Europeans?  Many countries are still limiting travel- well back to their country -so people are discouraged from taking holiday.

Spent the morning on South Beach. Had a hot Russian girl in a gstring set up nearby with her cute little dog. The dog spent half the time on my blanket, lol. We smiled and laugged about it. Also saw a guy walking down the beach in a "Mr. Ed" type gstring. Not sure if he's a forum member (it wasn't Bmicro). After the hot girl left I went back to the Collins and laid out nude face down to start by 1pm. A maid and a maintance worker passed right by shortly thereafter but they didn't notify the front office. Guess they didn't care. Then wouldn't ya know it but the mom and one son from yesterday showed up 20 minutes later, lol. Rather than put the gstring back on I stayed nude face down for about 10 minutes. Didn't hear or see any unusual reaction. Then the dad came down with the other son so I decided to put the gstring on. They left around 4:30 and I've been swimming nude since.

Spent the morning on South Beach. Two girls set up next to me taking topless modeling shots of each other. Then we got rained out by an annoying shower. Along with the rain I saw my first dust devil just 50 yards away. Saw the whirlwind of sand and then it overturned two lounger chairs and sent two umbrellas to the back of the beach by the dunes. So left the beach and got back to the Collins hotel pool by 1pm and had nearly 4 hours of uniterupted nude bathing and swimming. I think the family from the past two days checked out. I'm lucky that hardly anybody is staying here and the staff is cut razor thin. Interesting is I counted 4 security cameras pointed at the pool area. Guess they don't monitor them or don't care or the girl behind the desk likes the view!

Re:HOTELS in South Beach , Miami Beach, SOBE

Great and interesting day today. Interesting is in the morning I went to check out and then check back into the same room to extend my trip two more days. After taking care of the two transactions the GM behind the desk asked me "by the way how did you get in the pool yesterday? The gate was locked when I went to unlock it and you were already there." So I told her the girl at night only locks the front gate but not the two gates on the side and that's how I got in. Now that's interesting because I don't recall her coming out to unlock the front gate yesterday, usually that's done in the morning not in the afternoon. Moreover, how did she know it was me and even more intriguing is how much did she get to see of me because if she could recognize my face then she probably saw I wasn't wearing a suit. Anyway today after two boring hours on South Beach this morning (which was desolate despite the great weather) I was back at the Collins pool by 11am and got to tan/swim nude for about 6 hours before heading to dinner. The maid passed right behind me 4 times rolling her cart, three times I was on my tummy and once on my back. She may have also seen me get in and out of the pool while cleaning a nearby room but I can't confirm that. The general maintenance guy, who I think is the maids husband) walked thru the pool area to work on the equipment while on my tummy. So clearly the help staff seem to be nude tolerant. Can't say how lucky I got with this booking, clearly aided by the covid induced low occupancy.

Do NOT stay at the Catalina on 17th no matter how good the price. Originally booked 2 nights but checked out after the first day. Specific issues. Room size tiny, barely bigger than the bed. No place to put down luggage or to dry off after showering. Water on bathroom floor when I arrived, figured out later why when the shower didn't drain and water flows over the lip after two minutes. Toilet bowl kept running after each flush. Security guards carry guns. Ghetto like atmosphere good luck getting any sleep. Pools close early 8pm.

Re:HOTELS in South Beach , Miami Beach, SOBE

Recently got to Miami Beach and stayed at the Standard Hotel for a couple of nights. As you may know this hotel has many rooms with a small patio at the front door with a soaking bath tub. The area is enclosed by cloth curtains, you pull it back and forth to enter. There are a couple of chairs out there. This is convenient to put on and off swim suits. The tub is nice to come back to and soak after swimming in the main pool. From walking around a bit I gathered many people still wear suits/ clothes in their patios and some do not. When I was there the hotel was maybe half full. The guests at the hotel and the maybe 20percent of people at the pool who were club members not hotel guests were all pretty chill. I'd heard stories that the place was loud at night but my room near the pool was quiet at night. I'd planned to skinny dip each night and to my surprise I was almost totally alone each time. In total I was out 6 times between 1am and 7 am and only twice saw another guest out there. the restaurant/bar that adjoins the pool closes after midnight so people aren't walking by anymore. They have a waterfall hot tub which I thought I'd like but turned out I didn't like at all. The water is heavily chlorinated so it smells bad and when poured at hundreds of gallons a minute near you isn't that pleasant. Add to that you get your head all wet all the time- if I'm wearing sunglasses they're soaked or steamed. The main pool has a walk in design from the hot tub edge and about 7 ft at the bayside end. It's huge and very warm. So at night you can walk out in a towel and slip that off and slip in the water and swim. The area isn't brightly lit, the pool has lights in the walls. Around 6 am some guys on staff come out and start picking up all the towels left from the day before, picking up dishes, trash and then sanitizing the bed cushions and desk with sprays. This is where keeping your stuff separate from the leftovers is important. The staff doesn't pay any attention to nudity. The pool is topoptional during the day- the signs say "swimsuit bottoms must be worn in and around the pool", but the spa area nearby is CloOp during spa days. I usually swam laps until it was light outside, just climbed the ladder, grabbed my towel dried a little wrapped up and walked to my room for a soak in the outdoor tub. At the pool during the day the scenery was not bad at all. I had heard that the top op was often used but in three days I didn't see any tops drop until about 20 min before I was going to leave and a young 20's chick in a black thong bikini whipped off her's- no top tan lines on her. There were always several thongs on women in view- TIV Thongs in View factor was 7-12 usually. On guys there were several in bikinis but usually no thongs. I did see one other guy in a thong bikini twice. Some of the women were in string thongs (tiny triangle above the butt crack) and only one or two true G strings. The acceptance of a guy in a thong seemed very good. The pool staff were cordial, other people seemed to act like they didn't notice mostly. But when I went out in the morning sat on the west side row facing the pool and sun it seemed like several women filled in nearby, not at the other end. In the afternoon- with low winter sun- I moved to the bay side dock area in front of the spa area.

I'll detail my ah wardrobe choices later.

The Standard Hotel on Miami Beach pool scene is very thong friendly. It's officially Toptional for women. I wore several different styles while I was there. I'd generally every two hours go back to the room to use the bathroom and change suits to avoid tanlines. I walked all around the property shortly after I arrived only wearing a Swirlfashion mesh grape smugglers thong carrying only my room card. Around sunset I wore a Dore VLT micro which turned some heads all for good. Some women stopped me to say "finally someone with some style- no boring shorts- what do you call that style?" I told them "micro" then later they kept calling me Mister Micro. I wore baggie strings a few times- that's a drawstring baggie with long strap that goes around the waist and ties so people don't think you're nude from behind- no crotch strap. I wore a baggie chain suit too- that's a baggie with a metal chain around the waist- no crotch strap. Also wore a "semikini" I call it one afternoon. That's an elastic rimmed baggie- torpedo style with an elastic strap loop attached to one side to go around one hip and like half a V into the crack, on one side no waist strap... and that got a lot of people walking by to figure it out. I wore a couple of baggie sling suits too. One is a three compartment pouch with strap thru the crotch and over one shoulder- must watch this one as too much swimming or excitement and it shows some root. Another is a pouch that's ah supportive and partially horizontal. I walked around, swam like normal. I took a dip in the Bay in the later mentioned baggie sling climbing down and up the ladder at the end of the boat dock. I got some cat calls from a boat going by. The vibe- as I've seen in someone's review was "bordering on naughty" at the pool. I resisted wearing some of my nearly transparent or missile suits- not that naughty!

Sailor ... Thanks for the detailed reviews. I have similar experiences swimming nude overnight. A majority of times I'm the only one there. I also agree the hot tub could be designed better. I never thonged there during the daytime, always opting to go to the beach instead, but your experience may give me the courage to try it there. Was wondering your opinion on a couple questions. 1) Do you know how their day pass works? Do they kick day pass people out at a certain time or could they conceivably stay around all night at the pool? 2) Do you think staying nude until 8 or 9am is doable? 7:15am I think is the latest I skinny dipped. As you said, the cleaning crew doesn't care.

re: Standard The restaurant opens for breakfast at 8:00. There are pool workers (not cleaners). I think you would be asked to over up. As far as daytime, I have not had a problem with g-strings including sheer when wet and sheer when dry anywhere in the pool area including the pool and hot tub. FWIW, the spa is STILL closed (almost two years now). When I was there in the fall, Crispy said they were shooting for a reopen before the end of 2021, but as of now, it is still closed. I think the remodel is done, and it is city permits slowing things up.

Yes I agree, if the restaurant opens and the wait staff is walking around they'll probably want to start daytime rules. When the sun comes up at 730am like when I was there, it was about 745 once when I emerged. When the sun comes up at 6 in the Spring, may be different. About the day pass- I don't know- I did see some signs and someone mentioned they were a "club" member, and I think they get to bring guest(s). You could phone or email the hotel I guess?? I'd heard the spa was finished but didn't see anyone sitting there- or any clay. I used their circular shower once.

BTW I saw that the Standard Hotel in Miami Beach rented SUP for use from their dock in the bay basin there. I didn't try it butt I'm sure thong or G string paddling would be fine!

Anyone have any thong insights for THE Hotel of South Beach (Collins and 8th) ?
Wife and I will be there for a week in April and hoping the hotel is completely thong friendly for both of us but especially her as that’s all she owns.   Thanks for any insights on this hotel itself, the pool, and the beach in that area as well.

The Hotel is one of my favorites. The pool is very thongable and toptional too. To bad it closes around sunset.  See my post above from 11/11/18

@sailor250 could you list your top 5-10 hotels in Miami for man-thonging taking distance from beach, value, dining options, and anything else that is pertinent into consideration? It appears that you have a wealth of experience in hotel stays in the Miami area....
