#5 Congress Hotel, 11th and Ocean. Roof top pool usually a goood vibe, used to be skinny dipping at night possible, they started locking out elevator and doors- don't know if it's again possible. Baggie strings worn untied in AM sun. Has been toptional. A 5th floor back deck 1 floor below the pool secluded and untied baggie 'able mid day. Location across Oc Dr from beach- last time no free beach chairs or hot breakfast. Parking in public gar at Collins and 13th or Collins and 7th.
#4 Leslie Hotel 13th and Ocean roof top pool OK, roof top deck down in front baggie'able AM's No night swimming. Nice rooms, hot breakfast, did include beach chairs with boucher bros on the beach. parking public gar at Collins and 13th
#3 not South Beach but Mid Beach- Collins Hotel 66th and Collins, across st. from beach. $15 parking lot there- easy in and out for Haulover visits. Nearby restaurants, thongable pool, beach is toptional. Variable vibe at pool Very cheap rates- plain decor, S American owned.
#2 Standard Hotel- not on SBeach but Venetian Isles off the bay end of Lincoln Road. See recent trip report 2021. Thongable pool, very common on women, toptional pool. Easy skinny dipping at night, early mornings. nice bayside views, none of the Oc Dr craziness! Rather expensive, no restaurants less than 10-15min walk, but their food decent, not that expensive. Rooms with tub in front sort of fun! Can't reallly get to the beach- a destination place.
#1 The Hotel of Southbeach, Collins at 8th st. Toptional, very thongable pool on last visit 2019. Try to get room in the Collins Ave main building where pool's on roof....I got an ADA room with very large multihead shower. Baggie/Baggie sling all the time. Pool closes at dusk like many. Beach chair at BB is included out on beach. Parking a block away at city gar Collins and 7th, enter off Washington to 7th- one way, you can walk your luggage. They were closed most of pandemic, opened in ?Dec, I heard did remodelling. Try Puerto Sagua restaurant across st, authentic Cuban for good prices. |

Prior to getting sold and closed down for renovations, the Richmond and South Seas hotels were my favorites. No issues with g-strings and the pools were heated & open 24 hours. Easy skinny dipping overnight and very affordable. I don't know when they'll re-open, it's the same owner that bought the Raleigh next door which has been closed for 3-4 years with renovations. Also read they are building a new high-rise on the back of the Richmond & South Seas properties so I think it won't be as good as before.
Regarding The Hotel, I had a not-so-good experience there. Was there in summer about 4 years ago. Nobody was at the rooftop pool in the morning, so I asked if the bartender minded if I sunbathed nude. He said no problem and I told him to let me know if someone complained and I would cover. Well, after about 20 minutes on my stomach the manager shows up and said no nude sunbathing. I guess he saw through security camera or maybe someone in the exercise room reported me. I said no problem and put on a g-string and he said I couldn't wear that either and I'd have to wear trunks or go to the beach. So I've been hesitant to go back, especially since their pool shuts down at dusk.
I'm looking forward to the re-opening of the Miami Beach Resort (on 48th st). Very g-string friendly and the pool stays open till 10pm and is heated in winter. Additionally, with the new renovations there will be a new rooftop pool. Also it's easy to crash the pools & hot tubs next door at the Grande Beach Hotel.
Z-Ocean is g-string friendly but the pool closes at 9pm. Great breakfast / lunch place in the lobby called Front Porch Cafe. Great food, highly recommend.
Congress I had a good time a while back but for some reason haven't tried there again. Very g-string friendly and was able to skinny dip 9-10pm at night. Think their pool closed at 11pm back then. |

That's what I liked about the Shelborne. The rooms on the sides have balconies- mid priced rooms- the street side on the front were cheapest, and the ocean front facing rooms had only windows. The southfacing side was across the street from the Raleigh hotel so you could watch the pool from there, butt the balconies were canted so you couldn't really see your neighbor in the building and I spent significant time nude out there in the sun. The Raleigh penthouse had a private terrace and I've seen nude sunbathing out there by people staying there. |

They have rooms with balconies and terraces that are divided so you can't see your neighbors and I saw some people sunbathing (thongs and nude) there from the third floor roof. There's also a sunbathing deck on the roof of the third floor that I spent a lot of time on. It's reasonably priced and also has complimentary loungers and towels on the beach. I thought it was close enough to the south Beach action, but far enough away that you avoid the club and noisy party areas.
I also stayed at a Hampton Inn in Coconut Grove for work in September. Had no problem wearing a thong at their pool as well. The pool is pretty shaded, but it's open till 10. |

It’s a great hotel and close to all types of restaurants. We could see directly to the beach from our balcony. The pool is nice as well as heated. I wore my thong at the pool and no one blinked an eye. There was another man there in a thong also. Victor is located on 12th street which is the heart of the gay district. I only saw one guy in a thong and he was walking down Espanola crossing Collins. Almost every guy on the beach wore bikini/brief style swim suits. There were several girls in thongs both at the hotel pool and on the beach. The beach bodies on both sexes were outstanding. Either they were blessed with perfect genes or they work out 7 days a week! |

The hotel pools will be having world famous DJ's playing pool parties! Not going this year but Surfcomber and National Hotel seem to have the best this year. My #1 would be Camelphat at the National on Thurs beginning at noon. Diplo and friends at Hyde Beach Thurs starting at 1 pm...Check out the resources on line at edm.com . Some are sold out. Of course next weekend is Ultra Music Festival in Bayfront Park and there will be a lot of people in town for that! |

I noticed on Thursday that the mud lounge was screened off using the same draping as in the garden rooms that come with an outdoor tub. Before it was wide open for outside viewers. I do know the spa has re-opened, though I haven't used it as I'm at the beach during the day and then at the pool at night. Went skinny dipping both nights until 7am (sunrise at 6:35) without issue.

Assuming you have a car in valet and you don't want to walk the 2 miles to the beach, there's a good parking garage on 16th between Collins and Washington. Cost is $20 for the day but get there early. A taxi would be more expensive at $12 each way plus tip. Don't know about Uber pricing. Another alternative is to rent a bike from the Standard, but don't know the cost of that either.
Great breakfast place on the cheap is A Simple Eggstaurant on Washington between 15th and 16th (same side as five guys). Cost for two eggs is $1.50. At the Standard two eggs cost $15. Finally for best room pricing give Agoda.com a try. They beat every other travel site by $40/night (including Standard's best promotional pricing). |

Yes I joined in too, lol. Probably a dozen textitles had no reaction. Interestingly a security member rolls through around 10:30pm every night asking people at the pool if they are hotel guests or spa members. Evidently spa members must leave by 10pm. Just prior to this both the couple and myself had exited the pool. So looks like one of the staff members comes through at 10:30, 11:30, and 12:30am asking all those around the pool if they are guests or members and in some cases asking for room numbers. |

That's a less than 5 min walk near the Beach. May not be real fast but waiting for valets and finding garage space takes time too. For food it looks like about a 10-15 min walk to Lincoln Ave from the Standard- though haven't walked it - there's ped bridge to help. I've found their food to be not that expensive--if you consider your view on the Bay and Butts on the Bay while eating!

A few are see-through when wet and those were not a problem either. The Albion off Lincoln Rd. is definitely thong friendly. Malibus Stings even did a full shoot there probably 4-5 years ago. No problem at the Sagamore on Washington and just north of Lincoln either. Never had an issue thonging at a few other hotels in the area I can't remember. |

I don't remember getting kicked out after a certain time. Unlike a lot of hotels in Miami the pool is pretty big with a lot of patio space. |

Some of the boats in the video were chartered by groups of tourists, one can tell by their more conservative suits.

I saw a few smaller suits (but not thongs or g's) on guys. Mostly cheeky suits on ladies with quite a few thongs and G's. One lady wore what looked liked a full one-piece in front, but only strings in the back; very attractive. Only a handful of topless women in the spa (none at the pool, but then there weren't many people at the pool) and only two that I saw for an extended period. One guy and two ladies completely nude in the spa (but discreetly - generally covered with a towel unless showering or soaking). A few more were very briefly nude while changing out of a wet swimsuit into their robes. |

Ive been staying there the last weekend of each month this year. I'm the sole thonger there, but never a problem even with families. I'ts very basic, clean, and for $35, I just need a bed at night. It is a Knight's Inn with 2 hostel rooms. One for all females, one mixed rooms. About 2 blocks from the bus line and beach. Free parking.
I've also stayed at the Freehand in Miami that has beds about that same price range. Much nicer place and younger more upbeat crowd. Nicer pool area, and free breakfast. You need to be creative to park for free, like park elsewhere and bus in. Bus line is about 2 blocks away also. |

Re：HOTELS in South Beach , Miami Beach, SOBE Date Posted：10/12/2022 02:13:39Copy HTML just keep in mind when staying at hostels targeting younger crowd of backpackers it really depends on the kind of people staying at any one time but usually i find they aren't as open and tolerant as you might believe. there's a lot of hypocrisy amongst younger people these days ie. they claim tolerance and understanding but do quite the opposite with certain things like thonging on men for example (underwear or swimwear)
i stayed in backpackers hostels a lot when younger (and still will for as long as i can) and it was mostly negative experiences if they found out (either through laundry or slip of the strap - you can tell when their face goes red or they change their friendly behaviour). i've been outcasted as a result so the best thing is to change hostels. it's the worst when they don't say anything to your face but spread the news throughout the hostel or all of a sudden the management moves you into a empty dorm because they have designated you as the pervert.
i do wonder what SoBe and miami hostels might be like though if there is a better chance of more tolerant people. maybe someday i'll get the chance. |

I got a very terse "The property requires clothing" in response.
We're trying to plan a trip there in April, so we'll keep you posted. |

I went to put on a gstring and he said no to that too saying I have to go to the beach to wear that. He wanted me to put on my gym shorts. The Hotel also closes the pool early (sunset) so I haven't had any urges to go back. |

The Shelbourne Beach Resort had a back yard deck in the 2000's that was CO,but went away about 2006, and that was the only CO I ever heard of on SouthBeach in the last 30 years. The Hotel has been TNT/Topfree in the past for women. Remember that's only a treat for us guys eyes and doesn't mean we can go nude, butt means smaller suits ...
The hotels probably don't like inquiries like yours. |

I know they do this at 10pm to get rid of the day pass members but at 1:30am this was a first. There was a couple nude in the hot tub. Guess he didn't notice or dudn't care. I was on a lounger in a robe but had been swimming nude earlier. There was a guy in the pool but not sure of his swimwear. Great night so far.
Was at the Collins hotel fist five nights. Pool was cold. Last year it was heated in the winter months. They closed the pool around 10pm four of the nights but then at 8pm the last night. Lots of kids during the day. Wore a gstring a couple times late afternoon and early evening when pool use was low.
Was going to stay at the Albion hotel on James instead of the Collins, but the pool at the Albion is out of commission until Spring for refurbishing. |

Last time I was there a few years ago there were families with kids. Also walking by the hotel on the boardwalk last week it looked like they took out their 2nd pool, unless I got the wrong hotel. |
