Here's a story about a guy in Jacksonville on the beach carrying a sign telling women to dress modestly??? https://www.dailystar.co.uk/real-life/woman-stunned-man-holds-placard-24592286

God didn’t appear too concerned about clothes in Eden. I always understood the devil made them ashamed and here we are stuck wearing thongs when we really should be nude. ;)

Time to hit the beach at Guana (GTM). I’ve been wearing a Boodie swimwear (made here in FL) tan through slide back and front rio. I’ve been seen by rangers and law enforcement with no issues (local county has “no thongs” policy but that has to be tough to enforce with cheeky styles all the rage). You can get a great tan with these suits either as a thong or rio.

I agree with you, that's my favorite place to thong. Usually I wear cocksox thong and don’t usually get any issues. I do buzz by the helicopter once in a while, go figure.

Last Wednesday was sunny, relatively warm but a powerful SSE wind making it necessary to find a wind block. Wore one of my smaller Boodies. Busy beach. Parking lots (capacity 80 cars) were nearly completely filled. It’ll be nicer once spring breakers go.

Got out to Guana again last Wednesday halfway between N and Middle walkovers (about a mile from each). Not a single person walked by in 4 hours. Wore my Boodie adjustable (rio to thong) or less all day. Saw a thresher shark washed up on the beach.

If you’re willing to walk a bit you can have a half mile of beach to yourself. It’s been a great summer going to Guana once or twice a week and working on my nearly all over tan and getting some reading done. I’ve seen whales out there a couple of times (in four years).

Got out to Guana right after Ian. Middle lot is closed because of wave damage to stairs on the beach. That makes a big chunk of beach very private since most people don’t like walking too far. Erosion right up to dunes.

The wife and I were in St Augustine the last few weeks and she wore g-string/thong bikini on the days we could go to the beach. There were a fair number of other ladies in thongs each day which made her feel comfortable wearing one. The last day we were there (A Friday) there were even a couple guys wearing thong bikinis laying out near Butler & Crescent Beaches. Beach patrol was back and forth several times without slowing down.We are not from the area, but has this been the experience for anyone else?

We usually go to Guana which is north of St.Augustine a bit. St. John’s county is generally not friendly to thonging although I have not seen it enforced recently, especially for women.

We stayed in Jacksonville beach for a few days and I wore both thongs and briefs on the beaches without issues. The female cheeky trend is in effect here, but only a small number of men wearing less than shorts in public. I didn't do any mobile thong wearing, but limited it to stopping about 3/4 of the way through a bike ride and laying on the beach outside the crowded areas, as in this example. https://www.flickr.com/photos/triathlon_dude/53037900125/in/dateposted/ The only negative person I encountered was some old guy, probably not much older than me, shaking his head as I was entering the Mickler's landing public parking/access area to refill my water bottle wearing Dolfin briefs. Although he was pushing a bike through soft sand, the dude looked to be no threat and in piss poor shape, so I just ignored him and kept moving. While alone in other areas, I was wearing a Jor thong (not G-string) the entire time and had both cops and lifeguards drove by without slowing down, so apparently no legal issues.

Time to open up the 24 season at Guana. I’ve been out there a couple of times since New Years. Parking during weekdays is 75% empty. It’s been cool. Great beach to have to yourself for the cost of a short walk.

Went to Guana North crossover last week with family. For early May, on a Wednesday, the lot filled up (80 car capacity) mostly with college age folks. Lots of cheeky suits on gals with a couple of thongs. Always amusing to see buff guys who insist on wearing floppy shorts while their lady friends wear the equivalent of a pocket from the guys’ shorts. Same dull, colorless shorts guys have worn since the 80s. Dumb, lined, sand snagging, crotch irritating shorts.

Bought a new g-string & I'm thinking about laying out just north of the pier at Jax beach sometime this upcoming week. Has anyone been there recently?

I think thongs are fine anywhere in Jax beach. It’s been a year or so since I have been but no problem. Girls ride bikes and walk the street in thongs all of the time.

I stopped by north of the pier a couple of days ago and saw a lot of families there. Made me feel as if it might not be the best place to thong. Is north or south of the pier better?

I used to go just north of pier. Around 5th or 6th I have a house in Flagler beach so I go there more.

Interesting. Would you recommend Flagler Beach as a good spot to thong? What are the crowds like there?

I would not say that. I just have a house over there. Jax beach is way better. More eye candy on good days and more numbers. The traffic is so bad at Jax Beach, I avoid because of that. I love Jax except for traffic and not living there.

I’ve been out to Guana a couple of times this year. Nice weekend day will find the lots filled by 10 AM. Weekdays are great. From the center lot a 1/2 to 1 mile walk north will get you a chunk of beach to yourself to sun, fish and relax. I’ll wear a Boodie suit that can slide into a thong easily.

On the St Augustine beaches it is fairly common for the ladies to be wearing thong or g-string bikinis. I have even seen a couple guys wearing a thong, as well. My wife generally wears a g-string or thong so lately I've joined in wearing a thong, albeit discreetly, to catch some sun. We tend to lay out where there are less crowds so beach patrol does not appear to care.

The beaches around St Augustine Beach to Matanzas have been great this summer too. Zero negative reaction. It helps to have a 4wd vehicle if you want to be more secluded, but great everywhere we have set up.

Where can you drive on the beach in that area?

There are about 6 places you can drive onto the beach between St Augustine Beach and Crescent Beach, right off of A1A. The signs say beach ramp. I believe there is no charge from September until March and then either a daily charge or you need a county pass to get on during the other times of the year.

I will be in Jacksonville Sunday November 2 - Monday November 3 staying on Mayport Road. Probably will be in too late on Sunday, but I'm looking for a good place to wear my Skinz g-string before I have to drive to Tallahassee later on Monday. I hope the weather cooperates. Any suggestions / contacts would be appreciated.

The wife and I have been to the St Augustine beaches this spring and there are plenty of ladies in thong bikinis and g-strings. I have not seen any guys in thongs, other than myself, but hopefully some other guys will give it a try. The beaches here are pretty laid back despite being busy at times. The sheriff does patrol regularly which may help keep rowdiness in check. The reactions to me in a thong and the wife in a g-string have been nothing but positive!

I thought that thongs were illegal on St Augustine beaches? Or is that only within the town limits?

Re:Jacksonville and St.Augustine - FL

I don't know about legality, all I can say is that there are plenty of ladies that wear thong bikinis at all the beaches that we have been to in and around St. Augustine.  My wife wears either a thong or g-string and never any issues for the last five years.  As far as guys, I am in a thong every time I go to the beach (yesterday) and the LEO drives right by, never an issue.  I walk to and from the blanket to the water and to my vehicle without any concern.  I have seen other guys in a thong on two separate occasions over the past couple years, but nothing consistent.  My experience is that most people could care less about thong bikinis and just want to enjoy their time at a beautiful beach!

I usually go to Guana, middle parking lot, and walk north 1/2 to 1 mile. Very few people up there and you can have the beach to yourself or, if someone else does walk that far, they generally will dress in a tiny suit or nothing. With the north lot closed for walk-over reconstruction that leaves about 2.5 to 3 miles with no one on the beach.

So is Guana Reserve run by the Fla State Parks? It's not a National Park or Seashore. I didn't know Fla had another type of "land management". Is that section of undeveloped beach patrolled all the time?
owh7153 #185

Re:Jacksonville and St.Augustine - FL

Date Posted:07/15/2026 10:50:50Copy HTML

It is patrolled infrequently. Plus you can see patrol coming for a mile or more. Turtle nest checks in early AM. There are three 80 car parking lots along the approximately 7 miles of wild beach. The area is managed by FL State Park, and National Marine Estuary Research Reserve.

From the asspect of where thongs aren't officially OK in Fla- the Fla State Parks are the one place still not "legal". So I'm not clear if this Preserve falls under their "rules" or not since they only manage it- Are thongs supposedly prohibited. If you're bare and approached can you put on a thong- or need a full coverage bikini?

Re:Jacksonville and St.Augustine - FL

Lately it simply isn’t enforced or even patrolled. I’m a weekday visitor and, outside of the cross-overs you can usually count on one hand the people who come by in six hours. Those by the crossovers are frequently gals in thongs or very cheekies. I spent today as completely accessible entree to the flies but the water was warm and calm so I retreated there for relief. I’ve always taken shorts and several suits to accommodate conditions. When the beach is patrolled the county does it. I don’t go on holidays and weekends.

That article is over a decade old and the idea is long since dead.  Don't sweat it and just wear your thong on Jax Beach instead - nobody gives a damn.

Agree with JSJax. The idea has long passed away! But thong wearing is not an issue at Jax Beach or around the St Augustine beaches. Plenty of ladies are enjoying thonging and a handful of guys too!
