Date Posted:04/15/2026 09:02:42Copy HTML Hello everyone. I've been regularly wearing my Joe Snyder Thong (03) and Bulge Thong (02) for years now. I own close to 10 pairs but from the beginning I've found the quality and consistency quite poor so resorted to only wearing 2-3 pairs. This is because the 2-3 pairs I do wear have a pouch that's big and comfortable enough and side straps that are the right length and width. With the amount of use these 2-3 pairs have had I'm starting to see wear and tear. I'm starting to consider replacing them but because of the mentioned quality and consistency issues I think it's risky to order more Joe Snyder's because they might not be the right fit. I love the nylon/spandex material as it's conforming and very comfortable. The question I have is what other brands are there that have the equivalent to the Joe Snyder Thong (03) and Bulge Thong (02). I see Skinzwear M77 looks similar to the Bulge Thong (02) and Skinzwear M67 looks similar to the Thong (03). Are there any other brands to suggest? Any help would be much appreciated. |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/15/2026 09:14:09Copy HTML You might want to give justmensthongs.com a try. The workmanship is very good. There is lot of colors and patterns. I think they are much better than JS thongs. |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/16/2026 12:34:57Copy HTML I would not suggest that justmensthongs.com is an equivalent to the JS 03 or 02. Not even close. I have had several of both of the JS thongs over the years and the 03 is one of the most comfortable thongs. The 02 has a shorter rear strap and tends to be a bit tighter fit which makes the side straps curve to a Y more in the back. A nice look overall but the pouch is pretty small. I have worn them for over 10 years and I look for other styles and designs as the 03 has been a bit single color designs.
I had seen the justmensthongs.com for a while last year and decided I would try them out late last year during the Black Friday sale time with an order for 3. Two of them were wild prints and 1 solid shinny orange. All of them Slim cut (they only had Classic and Slim at that time). I need to put a full review out on that topic later but here is my brief review. 1) The cut of the pouch is very large. Compared to the JS 03 it would be at least 2x larger. Compared to an 03 probably more like 4x larger. The pouch is way too big for my liking and doesn't fit snug at all. 2) I like the material and colors as that is what lured me to try and buy 3 on my first order. 3) The "craftmanship" of the justmensthongs.com is not to my liking compared to the Joe Snyder. The center seam of the pouch shows the stitching that was used to sew the two pieces together. Imagine the nice shining solid Orange thong and you have two BLACK stitching lines going down the center of your pouch. A Big Hell No for me! In fact all of the seams are shown in this double stitching and all in BLACK. That is right. Orange thong with all of the BLACK stich lines all over the place.
I only tried these on and haven't worn them. Not sure what to do with them and trying to see if I can modify the pouch at some time in the future when I have the time and skill... |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/16/2026 01:01:05Copy HTML I totally agree with CKWonderer about the JS03 being one of the most comfortable thongs ever. It is also hugely stylish although maybe not appropriate swimwear in some settings where there are families or children, imho! I wear one for sunbathing all the time so it’s a little worn out and the straps are starting to lose its elasticity. Sadly it’s impossible to get another one now or at least with great difficulty. It would be great if some retailers would introduce something similar. |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/16/2026 09:44:33Copy HTML @gsj I've heard mixed reviews about cut4men. I remember reading someone saying that the quality is not as good as what Joe Snyder was. |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/16/2026 09:47:59Copy HTML @CKWonderer @steveeagle agree with all your points. @CKWonderer I noticed that cover stitch for the pouch seam and didn't like that either! The Joe Snyder's use that cover stitch for the waist and leg openings which is fine. @steveeagle I'm looking at my worn/wearing Joe Snyder's and wondering what I will do to replace them too. Right now I'm actually looking at how I can make some myself hah |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/17/2026 12:12:31Copy HTML I agree that JustMensThongs is not similar the Joe Snyder JS03. I’ve own JS things long enough to where they are worn out. I recently bought my first Justformens.
The JS fabric is more form fitting fitting and softer. The JFM is good and I like the selection of prints which was a short coming of the JS thongs. But I question if the JFM will last as long as my JS.
It seems some members of this forum are concerned about availability of Joe Snyder but I found plenty online. That said, my next purchase will be a Skinz M77 in thin Skinz or super thin skinz. Any feedback on the two fabric types? |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/17/2026 02:40:46Copy HTML @thongsrbest I think the Skinz M77 is the closest thing. I'd probably choose a solid colour myself. I don't like how the zig-zag stitch looks but after doing some research about how I can make my own thongs I know why they use it now. You need specific machinery to do the cover stitch that Joe Snyder has. |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/17/2026 01:03:17Copy HTML My joe snyders have been holding up very well after many beach visits. They do not stretch out and lose their shape from what I have found so far which I love. I agree that the Skinz M77 is similar to the JS cut. There is another brand called Justin + Simon sold on the male basics site. They claim it is taking over for Joe Snyder. Hopefully that is not true and it is just for that site, I ordered a couple of Justin + Simon suits and have been impressed so far. They are very similar to Joe Snyder and they also some have great colors. I will see how they hold up at the beach very soon. They have some metallic colors as well along with a peach skin fabric which is thinner and softer. These are all in the underwear section but definitely suitable as swimwear as well.

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/17/2026 06:39:11Copy HTML @tomtbackinminn thank you for the information. Looking at Justin + Simon they do look very similar which is great. Do you find the Justin + Simon thongs to be more consistent in production compared to the Joe Snyder? I'm wondering whether I've been unlucky with the inconsistent shape and sizing I got with my Joe Snyders or if everyone else has experienced the same (e.g. waist strap width vary from quite thin to wider, some feel smaller even though it's the same size, the pouch feels smaller even though it's the same size). Anyone else experienced this with Joe Snyder? |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/18/2026 12:17:37Copy HTML I'm not sure by what you mean in production. I bought 2 pairs, One peachskin material and one non. They are very similar to Joe Snyder and I have not worn to beach yet. I will give them a try and report back. I got them for < $20 each on sale at 30% off. If they hold up well, I will more colors as some are unique that are not offered with the many other brands out there.

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/18/2026 06:38:57Copy HTML @tomtbackinminn in my experience when I bought the same model and size thong from Joe Snyder that they varied. Especially around the shape and size of the pouch and the tightness and the width of the straps. Did you find this with your Joe Snyder thongs and do you see any similar issues with the Justin + Simon thongs? Looking at the photos of the Justin + Simon thongs on the site it looks like they could suffer from the same issue. |

Re:Joe Snyder Equivalents Date Posted:04/19/2026 09:29:29Copy HTML Thank you @nzthonger. I have the cut4men Kini in Royal blue & quality is fine - so far! Also available in S M & L sizes so fits me better for lap swimming. What I don't like is the logo on the front waist, however discreet. |
