I love Fantasy Fest and wish I could go every year. I have worn some pretty small G-Strings all over town as part of my costumes, although I do prefer thongs. No one had batted an ugly eye. I have seen some pretty sheer G-strings on men at the pool parties and around town after dark. Although that can push the boundaries of the law if not done tastefully. I’m not a fan of shear in public. As a result I don’t go there myself. As for thongs, during fantasy fest you will see many on all types of people, more so during the night time events, pool parties and at the beaches, not so much around town during the day. This is one of the most fun, wildest, happy, joyous and pleasure bending events anywhere. I choose not to drink alcohol during Fantasy Fest because I want to enjoy, remember and not worry about anything. If you can let you inhibitions down you will have more fun that you think would be possible. I wish I could be there this year.

I have not been for a number of years, but here is my observations from prior years. There is a distinct difference between what you can wear at the "parties" at various venues, and what you can wear on the street. During the day the street is full of cruse ship tourists bustling from store to store looking for t-shirts and trinkets. You will probably feel out of place. So off-street parties, bars and other venues make more sense during the day. Once most of the clueless tourists to back to the ship the police close down sections of street for the evening parties. Once the street party gets going you should feel more comfortable wearing less. Don't wear sheer or mesh, but you can go MICRO small. If you have a companion or are wearing body paint you will be more accepted. Costumes and body paint are fun and make you more of the IN crowed. I am sure someone will chime in saying they got away with some transparency, at a venue or on a beach, but not on the street. You want the ability to walk the streets to experence the street party and the various venues without fear. The better shape you are in the more just a tiny thong or g-string will be acceptable. If you have a beer-belly you are more likely to be the butt of jokes. This can be mitigated with a fun costume or body paint. Fun thongs that are part of a costume or theme will make you more popular, with people stopping you for photos. There is nothing wrong with just a thong, but you may want a bit more of a costume that is adjustable. A friend did a good roman in a very short toga, that was later thrown over his shoulder as a cloak. You are going to want sandals or shoes, both for hot streets and because there may be broken glass in some places. I the old days you could stroll down the street and see temp body paint booths, but there as been a strong push to get them off the streets and front yards. Don't expect to roll into Key West and find an available body paint artist. They are there, but they are ALL booked long in advance. I discovered dayglow neon thongs show up really well under dance club UV lights. I enhanced that with dayglow snap bands around wrists and ankles, and dayglow bead neckless from a prior party. You also want a way to carry a card or cash and maybe a phone too. A larger zip-up wrist wallet might be a good idea. Bags tend to bang around when dancing.
