Thought I'd start a new thread since previous Miami Beach threads started over 15 years ago are now over 25 pages long!  This does seem to be the thong capital of the US.

Recent visits to mid , south and north beaches reveal that the Sargassum seaweed is still pretty bad- on a 1-10 scale still a 4 or 5.   On South Beach and Mid Beach they have fleets of tractors with SurfRakes working non stop nearly every day.  So that takes away some privacy and if you're near the water you need to look out for them so you don't get run over!  On North Beach they seem to do less of this with raking and plowing daily but not all the time!!  (BTW Haulover has plowing under near high tide times, sometimes with a treaded bulldozer)

The thong scenery continues to improve with probably 70-90 percent of females in thongs at any time.  Guys in thongs continue to be rare- butt guys in bikinis are more frequent.  We may be turning the corner toward generally smaller guys suits!

Most times I look around and find TIV (thongs in view) about 3-20, and NATIV (not a thong in view) of 2-5.

TNT  (topless in thong) isn't too rare but not common now.  Interestingly about 80 % of TNT or TNG is near or very near a lifeguard station!  Ass we've discussed earlier the women feel better there as Karens will know they're not "illegal" and won't bother them directly or go to the lifeguards to complain.  Then also they feel less likely to be approached or harassed by guys near the lifeguards.

Are they raking all day on South Beach or do they stop around 10am as usual? Even though the seaweed is still prevalent, is it improving? I plan on being there in a few weeks and wondering if I should hold off till August.

Improved since May ....I've seen them raking from early morning late into the afternoon!  Maybe 6 -15 passes an hour

Day 1 of my South Beach vacation is in the books. Wore my stringless baggie with no issues. Got some surprised looks but no rude reactions. Had several families and couples set up right in front of me closer to the water. Nobody spoke English, which reminds me of what it was like pre covid, though I did recognize one couple from before who was probably local. ATV police did an early driveby 10 min after setting up. I was on my back they didn't even slow down for a closer look. Seaweed is a non-issue now. Rince & repeat tomorrow.

Day 2 in the books. Wore a peach color baggie (no strings). The one I wore yesterday was patterened so it wasn't see thru. This one was partly transparent when wet. No issues again. Like yesterday had a mix of foreign couples and families set up around me. Saw a guy in a green thong and straw hat carrying a backpack walking down the beach. I know it wasn't Bmicro but I was wondering if it was another forum member. Cop atv drove right past me around 2pm on a normal run while on my back. I haven't seen this foreign of a crowd since pre-covid.

One other thing, the seaweed was annoying today. Had to walk through 12 feet of solid seaweed just to get to the water. But once I got beyond that ocean swimming was fine. Beach sweepers were working all day.

Had another good day at South Beach. Today I was thrown a curve ball however. I normally set up between the 1 hotel and W hotel on 23rd street. Today for some reason the 1 hotel moved all their loungers southward towards the W. So instead of laying out right in front of their lounge chairs I tried 25th street for the first time. What a pleasant surprise it was ... very laid back & chill, no families just adult couples and singles. Most of the singles were gorgeous ladies. I wore an old baggie that was semi-sheer when dry and very transparent when wet. Unfortunately the elastic was worn more than I thought so it rolled up once I got sweaty and wouldn't stay on in the water. Walking out of the water to the blanket was a challenge with it trying to slide off, lol. Seaweed situation was a non-factor like Monday. No ATVs passing close. I highly recommend this area.

Well the baggie experiment came to an abrupt hault this morning. I was on 25th street and a lifeguard came over and asked for me to put something more on. In his words "you're a little too exposed and there are children around here". For the record I looked around and there were only adults around but I complied and put on a gstring.

Hey Lindros, is the experience of wearing a G-string so different than a baggie that it warrants pushing the legal boundaries on a textile beach? Glad you're having a nice time in South Beach, it's a fun area.

Yes in the sense that I wont have any tan lines with a baggie. I actually can't believe someone complained. There were three adult ladies 30 yards to my right, one older woman 20 yards to my left and an old guy in a chair 30 yrads to my left. Nobody else is within reasonable closeness as it was only 10am when it happened and I didn't use a semi-transparent baggie like yesterday.

Well so far I've not experienced any issues with different baggie suits- but they have sling strap or I'm wearing a waist chain so there's no mistaking I'm nude from behind. Seems to me the LG's know you're not nude butt others won't be so observant so they error on asking you. Could be too that wearing them several days in a row caused a backstage stir that caused someone to say- let's ask him to cover today?? I've always like baggie alone for a closed system local where fewer people are coming and going and those there see you're not nude- like a pool at a friendly pool or adult only pool. 25th St can have few people spread out but people do come and go.

You would be hard pressed to get a tan line in a g-string with thin side strings. G-String tan lines are easy to avoid. Just move the side strings up or down, if they don't naturally do that. To get a g-string tan line you would need to keep perfectly still and continually make sure the side strings are in exactly the same place as they were ten minutes ago. I am wearing a g-string now. I do move around during the day so there is no way the side strings are going to leave a distinctive mark. I will wear a different one tomorrow and the side strings will not end up in exactly the same place. If your g-string fits correctly, not tight so you look like a trusted up Sunday roast, the side strings will move around a bit. If not move them now and again. About the only time I have seen swimsuit strings leave a mark is on women's shoulder straps when they start lily white and got a sunburn the first day. Shoulder straps are more prone to this as they tend to sit in only one place. There are advantages to side and rear strings, including less complaints or from people who think you are naked or being a perv. You can also wear a smaller g-string, because it is being held in place and can compress a bit, leaving more inner thigh to get tanned. You can vary from very low front to very narrow front depending on your choice for the day. If you have a baggie flopping around you are going to block more sun from your upper thigh than a close cut small g-string. So I think the justification of "I need an overall tan" is a little spicious.

Best place?? There is no place you'll regularly dependably see another guy in a thong! The most likely places are probably any hotel on Sobe mentioned above! You might see one at a pool more likely the beach

The best place would be the beach on 12th street for sure as that's where the pride flags are typically on display. Generally that's where you're most likely to find guys in speedos, though thongs on guys are not particularly popular but you won't feel out of place wearing one. In terms of hotels your best bets are Hotel Gaythering and hotel Victor.

Better baggie 'ing around 24-26th St. Fewer people and usually all younger guys and girls- 20-40 with few/if any kids in sight! High TIV factor, low NATIV factor in this area too!

Thongs In View- how many thongs I can see from where I'm sitting Not A Thong In View- how many ladies are not wearing thongs So recently at South Beach TIV was 3-12 throughout the day, and NATIV was 0-5, so good portion of thongs. It's best when NATIV is 0 and TIV is high! I don't need to use the GTIV numbers (Guys Thong In View) because it's usually only 1 or 2 counting me- butt lately I'm not even wearing a thong- a baggie is ABN (All Butt Naked)

For the last few years, I have noticed that the proportion of females wearing thongs and wannabe thongs has gone up substantially on South Beach. Unfortunately, the proportion of g-strings has dropped as has the number of topless ladies. This year, I have been wearing sideless suits (C-strings, baggies and slings) more and more. For years, I used to wear baggies with a belly chain or string but have not been wearing them for over six months (I never wore one with a C-string ). I have walked for miles in front of many lifeguard stands and had numerous lifeguards and police officers ride right by me on their ATVs. No issues to report so far.

emblematic of the vibe of Southbeach....it looks like Playboy Headquarters is coming to Southbeach. Of course the brand is a shell of itself and of limited relevance in today's world. Not that it will make any difference over on the sand butt looks like they realize that if you can tan your T and A that's a good place to be....along with other financial considerations too! Won't mention any political considerations ass it's not what you'd think. Will models show up on the sand? probably a few? Already Southbeach is a magnet for Onlyfans models and other content in thongs. https://www.foxbusiness.com/media/playboy-ceo-calls-california-anti-business-company-flees-miami-beach-new-headquarters

Returned last summer. My observations come from walking along the shore on sections of the beach from 17th street south to 12th and north to 26th street, morning and afternoon. I wore only my teardrop g-strings. They cover and are visible from a distance. I got no negative reactions. Not even any stares. It's like I was transparent. One comment was "I like it" from a group of guys. They had short trunks. From another group I heard "hey, he's wearing a tiny g-string." Nice to make their day. Some phone cameras out, some aimed at me. So South Beach remains a great place for minimal swimwear. There are boundaries, but minimal, like the swimwear. When I started out wearing very little to the beach, I mostly stayed glued to a towel, but over time I got more comfortable in a crowd and moving around. I had to get past my own lack of confidence. My swimsuits got smaller. I find walking along the beach, as others do, a good way to feel more comfortable. Sure, you expose yourself to more people, but you look and act natural. I estimate half of women's swimwear was cheeky. Thongs not so common, maybe 1 in 10 to 20 women. There were moms wearing thongs. On a Saturday afternoon I saw 3 young women walking along the shoreline wearing g-strings. I spotted three others with g-strings on the same walk. Other days there was one or two g-strings. One burqa. One morning there was a woman next to the shore topless. One afternoon with a crowd there was a young woman in front of a lifeguard stand by the shore topless and with a tiny g-string as small as mine. I saw just one super cheeky suit on a man, and only seven bikinis in the first week. On each walk in the first week I saw least two brazilian style sungas, but nothing smaller than trunks for the second week. Those sungas look like halfway between a square cut and a bikini, so a step smaller than trunks. Good trend. There were plenty above the knee trunks; rare board shorts. About half of men had streetwear shirts and shorts like it was an outing with the family, and the kids and spouse were swimming / sunning but not the dads. There are still women wearing their cheekies and thongs on nearby Ocean Drive just off the beach. Some had semi-transparent coverups or dresses. Rare g-strings. One young woman playing volleyball had a g-string nearly as small as mine. So you can play active sports wearing a microkini. There's nothing to slip. No tugging. Hard to get sand under almost nothing. The recent Miami Swim Week had shows where some brands featured suits down to g-string size, but the trend didn't reach the beach or boardwalk or Ocean drive in significant numbers. Many women's styles noew have string sides, so then differences of cheeky, thong, and g-string could be the size of the front and rear.

String Theory wrote "One young woman playing volleyball had a g-string nearly as small as mine".  Although I'm not a volleyball player, I am kind of in that same category of active people and I like to run, paddle board, and swim in brief or less.  I have not been to Miami for a very long time just due costs of hotels, parking, and logistics of being able store and have access to all my paddle boards and kayaks.  When I was there, I always enjoyed fairly early morning runs and walks on the beach before the storms arrive.  We mostly stay in VRBO's now and unfortunately thongs are not legal in all the places I like to paddle.

Was on South Beach today (23rd street). I really wanted to wear my stringless baggie but chickened out and wore a small semi-transparent when wet gstring without any issues. Maybe tomorrow for the baggie, lol. Interestingly, around lunch time a cop on an ATV came flying northward along the beach between me and the water without his lights or any siren. I'd estimate he was doing 40 mph which is way way too fast. Although it wasn't crowded there were people laying on the beach and it wouldn't take much of a distraction for someone to get run over. Then about 15 minutes after that there were roughly a dozen cops (10 on ATVs and two in SUVs) driving south at a more reasonable speed right along the edge of the water (!!) with their lights flashing. Looked like a funeral procession. Not sure what was going on.

Lindros, 2 weeks ago I stayed at Collins and 24th I like that area as it seems to be quiet yet close to the action. Did lots of thonging at the BNB, Russian and Turkish bath, Rooftop resort and at the Federal spa. Speaking of the Federal spa I called ahead and they said thongs were fine. They have an indoor area with the pool outside. Never been so didn’t know the layout I walk outside to the pool and surprised to find that one end of deck is the patio for the restaurant with at least 15 people sitting there. Only brought the thong so I dropped the robe and went for it, left the robe hanging and just walked around as is. Kinda funny. Saw a few male bikinis at the Russian spa but that was about it, thongs everywhere on the girls at all of the locations mentioned.

I would not have flinched one bit to wear a thong at a spa at South Beach. Especially after you confirmed thongs were permitted. I have not been to South Beach yet, but I am going to assume the majority of the people visiting South Beach expect to see thongs everywhere. Granted, they probably expect to see them on women, but I feel most would have a laissez-faire attitude when seeing a man in a thong. After all, it is South Beach!

Tuesday chickened out again on the baggie but wore a transparent-when-wet g-string with no issues. However today (Wednesday) I wore a stringless baggie from 8am to 2pm at my usual spot on 23rd. No comments heard, all the people nearby appeared to be tourists that spoke a foreign language. The baggie had a red and blue design so it wasn't see thru like a plain light color would have been. When going for a swim the fist three times I put a gstring on over the baggie so I wouldn't lose it, the last swim before I left for the day I just swam with only the baggie on. ATVs drove right by me 3 times .. twice I was on my back and once I was on my stomach. They didn't slow down going by, and I didn't look to see if they were lifeguards or police. Tomorrow's my last day ...

That area must be accepting for exhibitionism. I wouldn't be comfortable wearing a baggie nor do I have the desire to wear a baggie. I think i push the envelope enough in a standard thong. Is there a baggie wearers board?

Re:Miami Beach 2025 and beyond

Date Posted:11/20/2025 12:48:17Copy HTML

I don't wear a baggie for several reasons: (1) I don't want the hassle that comes from people reporting me as nude. If I am wearing a g-string and a short sighted person reports me as nude I want the police to be able to figure I am not without approach, which might give others the idea that thongs and g-strings are wrong. (2) They don't look that good. I have only once seen a man wear one that looked good: It was halloween and he was totally shaved all over, even his head. Then head to toe body paint with the baggie just covering as a nipple patch cover would for a women in similar head to toe body paint. (3) You get just as good an all over tan with g-strings and the tension in the strings helps keep everything in place and not flopping around. Contrasting color strings helps people see you are not nude. (4) People tend to think baggie wearers are more of a perv than nudists. Not sure why, but probably the same as wearing a constrictor that causes a hard-on at a nudist camp. Each to his own, but don't come complaining about a double standard in public attitudes when you've been flopping around in public wearing less than the really fit good looking women. On the beach you will probably feel more confident rocking a thong or bright contrasting g-string. The key to showmanship and public acceptance is confidence.

Re:Miami Beach 2025 and beyond

I agree on point #1 and people reporting a naked man that isn't naked. Also, a baggie won't cut it for anything athletic (swimming, paddleboarding, etc) as baggies tend to roll up the shaft over time and need occasional adjustment. On point #3 I can only get as good a tan in the front with a gstring. In the back and sides it's hard to eliminate a tan line unless you pull the gstring half way down the butt. Regarding #4, any suit can look pervy. For example a thong with a missle front would raise eyebrows. Also I've seen several men walking in a thong with their junk flopping around like Mr. Ed. I don't walk around in a pouch so no flopping. When I swim most of the time I put the gstring over it to ensure security when swimming so no flopping there either. Interestingly I noticed more people setting up closer to me when wearing a baggie (and when I used to sunbathe nude) on SOBE than when wearing a gstring where I frequently see people arrive, look at me, then wander up or down the beach.

In my opinion, decency requires covering genital parts and anus. So I think that G-strings and baggies push the game too far. A classic and conservative thong is good enough.

Re:Miami Beach 2025 and beyond

Depends on the beach. Some places even a classic and conservative thong on a guy pushes the game too far and is considered indecent (eg, Myrtle Beach). South Beach Miami is different and the governing law is only in regard to lewd exposure of the genitals not the anus.

Stringueur, I respect your opinion and would never try to encourage you to wear anything less than a conservative thong. For many men, that is pushing it as they consider dork shorts high fashion. To each his own. As a legal (or at least enforcement) issue, Lindros is right. I have been told by both lifeguards and police officers in South Beach and Hollywood Beach that as long as the genitals are covered, there is no requirement to cover the buttocks. My current favorite beachwear is a C-string. This what I wear on most of my beach walks For me, most stay on very well and are comfortable, easy to put on. There is a bit of a back so I don’t look nude. I agree with JM runs first point.

Wife and I will be heading back to SoBe 3rd week in January prior to leaving on a cruise. I'll be packing my Tangaland G-strings, Mate ultra low rise flat fronts and Dubio mesh G-strings as well as wife will have her Wicked Weasel suits. Last spring we stayed near 11th and I wore my micro narrow mesh Dubio and she had her micro mesh Dubio - both suits same colors. While the suit was small it did cover the shaft enough to be legal. At least no one said anything and wife got some very nice comments for her suit. Even went up to the concession stand and bought drinks with no issues. For the cruise, we are on NCL which has their Haven 'cruise within a cruise' area and private sundeck as well as we purchase the Vibe adults only sundeck / bar area. Both of us have worn micro suits at the Vibe with no problems.

What's the scene like during March Break? Planning on visiting Miami for the World Baseball Classic in March, and I will most likely have a day or two on South Beach. I just don't want any trouble with drunk college students. Should I avoid the lower parts of South Beach and stay closer to Fort Lauderdale?

I might guess that baggies are not acceptable in. Hollywood. Very different vibes, a lot more old retired folks in Hollywood. It is not only a different city, but a different county. Being closer to JM's Ft. Lauderdale stomping grounds, he would be the one to ask. Definitely would not fly one town south in Halendale.

During most of March there will probably be parking restrictions and way more police patrols on southbeach between 5- 15th St. especially and also up to 21st St. Some parking lots and garages will be closed or rates raised high ($100/day in city garages). I haven't ventured into that crowd for years now. The majority of people are NOT American college students or thong wearing "coeds" as they were called. The min swimwear might not be well accepted by the people out there these weeks. In summary avoid there in March and don't try to relive the good old days of Spring Break---it's not on South Beach anymore!

Floridaman420, I sent an inquiry to Hollywood Beach requesting “clarification of your rules/standards regarding minimal swimwear (e.g., G-strings, C-strings, and modesty pouches/“baggies”).” The Marine Safety (lifeguard) Chief replied: 1. On the sand: Are these styles permitted so long as genitals are fully covered with opaque material and there’s no lewd conduct? YES 2. Is there any rule requiring the buttocks to be covered, or are the rules focused on genital coverage only? NO 3. Off the sand: Are different standards enforced on the Broadwalk, sidewalks, parking lots, etc.? NO

kiyoothong, Miami Beach has suffered for a few years with the onslaught of non-college students from other parts of South Florida and elsewhere who used Spring Break as an excuse to come here and cause mischief. These folks don’t usually go to the beach. Our (then) mayor chose to blame “Spring Breakers” and the local bars and restaurants when the issues started with non-Spring Breakers gathering on Ocean Drive or Collins Avenue passing open bottles of liquor around and causing trouble. Our police didn’t seem to be able to enforce the open bottle and drinking in public laws. Even though I live on Ocean Drive, I never personally observed the disturbances reported. This is because I am rarely out after midnight, especially during Spring Break. Our current mayor has established a “Breakup with Spring Break” program and has successfully thrown the baby out with the bathwater (we have a number of bar and restaurant closures). The police have been controlling access to the beach in the Lummus Park area (5th St to 14th PL) but nowhere else. A perfect spot for thonging would be behind the hotels on Collins Ave north of 15th. Miami Beach draws an increasing upscale clientele for Spring Break and has never been another South Padre Island or Panama City. I have never had a difficult time wearing my minimal swimwear styles during Spring Break.

Recent day on Miami Beach showed a large proportion of thongs on all women. High TIV low NATIV! Saw several moms in thongs-- and any teenage daughters with them were in thongs. Only one mom in a thong had daughter and son maybe 8 and 10 not in thongs.

sailor250 - how about thongs on the guys, did you see any? I'm wanting to wear a thong on the beach down there, just don't want to be the only guy doing it. Also - what areas of the beach would be good for me & my wife to go to? Mature couple, looking for a laid back area where may be less people than other spots

No thong dads! Despite me wearing nothing butt thongs or less it's rare to see another guy in a thong in S. Fla. Even southbeach- walking around for hours I might spot one or two. Staying in one place I'd say I see one other guy in a thong per 10 hr! Yes that means I probably see 200-300 women in thongs and I'm the only guy in a thong. Over the 30plus years of me wearing them the prevalence hasn't really gone up. Maybe the number of guys in thongs on all beaches/pools in the USA on a Saturday in July has increased butt not on these beaches! With that said male thongs are "accepted" and "tolerated" better today than 30 years ago. People on this board ask "where can I go to join the most guys in thongs"-- that would be anywhere you wear one! (Haulover Beach might be the exception- though almost all guys are nude- if they are wearing a suit it will be a thong or bikini- and you will see nude guys with thong tanlines more than once a day- this is skewed by the fact Haulover is 70-95% males) You'll never find 5-10 guys in thongs except at Sunspash!

Sailor250: How discouraging!!! We first saw thongs on guys first appear maybe 30-40 years ago and it seems there's been little progress. If anything, we've gone backwards and can't get past the stigma of men wearing skimpy swimwear let alone thongs. Baggy board shorts still rule the culture. (sidebar: I can't even find thongs in the underwear section of mainstream stores) I try not to be discouraged, but it *is* discouraging.

Wait- on Southbeach there are increasing numbers of guys wearing swim trunks- that's short inseam shorts - almost square cuts. The down to the knees baggy shorts are out of style now.

Went to southbeach this week and walked out on the sand....and holy sh!t I saw he was bigger than the average horse! Well there were Italian Stallions, and horses from all over the world on the sand competing with riders in the Longines Global Championship-- they fly the horses all over the world including China. Their big temporary stadium, paddock and stables took up the 22nd St parking lot. The area had more people than I've seen in years. The beach sand was busy too. At Beach 25 was able to wear my chokerkinis all day. ( baggie appearance from the front with sling strings in the rear). The volume of people and the high surf conditions had the lifeguards on alert. They had guys walking around between towers or riding ATV's looking around. They were speaking Spanish on the walkie talkies, didn't hear much but one guy said "ropa" when he walked near me.  Heard that Ft L LG's did 20 surf rescues in one day.
