In Spain the trend was for almost all young mothers to be thonging with their kids, unless they were pregnant again. Not all were topless but a good number were. Interestingly, at least on my beach in Mallorca, it tended to be young single women who went topless, and women who's kids were now older teens or young adults. Not the mothers corralling preschoolers. Maybe celebrating their new found freedom, or reflecting that it was just more common when they were young. We tend to get set in our ways.

Last month, I saw an Eastern European mother rocking a thong swimsuit at a beach in Toronto. She was with her two daughters and her husband. It is a shame that a lot of older women think that they don't have the body for thongs. With body positivity on the rise, let's hope more older women choose to stay with thongs.

Couldn’t agree more on your comment about over 40 women. I made friends with a 53 year old married woman at the beach this fall who has an extensive inventory of micro thongs and is very sexy. Sitting and talking with her in our g strings was a luscious way to pass a warm sunny day.

The other day when leaving the beach I put on my coverup shorts to head toward the parking lot and shower. I was afraid the shower would be crawling with kids getting cleaned up. I arrive and there's a 30 something mom in a flesh colored micro thong helping her 6 year old daughter get cleaned up. Dad was waiting in swim trunks. Mom spend a long time at the foot shower cleaning a whole box of plastic toys and sand molds bending over! So I guess I need to remember to kids bare butts are no big deal!

sailor250: Yeah, but you forget the societal double-standard: it's a female bare butt, which is far more accepted than a male butt. And, unfortunately, since dad was wearing swim trunks that double-standard is now being reinforced in their 6 year old daughter's mind.

Recent day on Miami Beach showed me how normalized thongs are for women. During the day I saw around me 8 "families"- )defined as a mother, daughter or son- whether dad was there or not). All but one- that's 7/8 mothers were wearing thongs! There were a couple where mom and daughters were wearing thongs. One mom wearing an orange microkini let her ?son- maybe 18 months old go naked the whole time. I know this is the 305 butt that's what makes the 305!

Mothers in thongs have surprised me a few times, but the time I think I was most surprised was when I was at the far end of the beach intentionally away from the crowd. I had walked this additional distance because I had recently bought a new Open fishnet G-string, which I knew was inappropriate for the crowded beach because the holes were over 1”x1” with very thin fishnet connections. Basically allowing 99% visibility through the front panel and the back and sides were about 1/16” thin elastic cords. But I thought being 100 yards away from anyone it didn’t matter. Then about 30 minutes into my sunbathing session I went for a swim and after I finished cooling off I noticed a young mom and 3 kids heading in my direction. I didn’t give it much thought until I saw her stopping about 10’ away from me and setting her stuff down and she walked over and asked if I minded if she set up near me? I was on my stomach and pointed at my string and said “as long as you don’t mind what I am wearing? Because the front doesn’t cover any more, this is the modest side!” She set up her stuff and removed her cover up revealing a tiny red G-string

I had similar experiences during the pandemic. One mom had a pure gstring on, while another had a V-string on. They were totally cool with it. The mom with the v-string freely walked around without a care in the world. My thong was conservative compared to these ladies. The string mom flipped on her stomach (she had been kind of shy and staying on her buns) and spread her legs. She was a larger gal and she looked nude at first. This was during the week and I mostly moms around, so they probably felt more comfortable.

Bare bottom moms may want to set up near a male in a thong to "isolate" themselves and kids from other men hitting on them! I'm convinced girls seem to view me in barely anything as no threat- seem to feel comfortable where they sit, and how they sit. Haven't asked them butt some may ass-ume I'm gay and that's why?

Sailor and MN. I would have to agree with the fact that they might want to isolate themselves from other guys. This particular day just really surprised me because I had in the past had females set up near me because they wanted to align forces against the Karen’s of the beach or the guys trying to pick them up. The main difference was that she only wore a G-string and she was very comfortable in it, not using my male presence for a shield. She even let her kids run around naked or in a diaper for the younger two. After I got cooled off and was headed to my blanket she came up to me and introduced herself and started talking. Honestly I was a little bit embarrassed because like I mentioned earlier the front of my G-string was just a very open fishnet that if I was not positioned correctly I easily would stick out of. I truly expected her to disapprove of but I got the exact opposite reaction. She didn’t try to be polite and ignore the G-string but she openly commented how much she liked the fact that I was confident enough to wear it. I began to apologize but she said I had nothing to apologize for! She mentioned that she had more minimal G-strings and that she was going to bring but wasn’t sure if they would be acceptable. She then said she saw me from down the beach when she arrived and could tell I was wearing something minimal and wanted to see what I was wearing, because she didn’t want to be the only person in something minimal and she wanted to be topless. As for the kids they could care less what we were wearing, they were there to play.

I have often had mothers and young women set up near or right alongside. Sometimes it is for the protection. Sometimes because they also want to wear something small without judgement. Sometimes because they spend all day with the children and would like the attention of an adult. Most times I don't ask why - and just say hi. Many men are worried that if they wear a thong people will think they are gay. However, this can be advantage because women feel less threatened, and tend to open up right away. Many times I have been told that they first thought I might be gay but are glad to discover I am not. If there is a negative comment it is invariably the new women friend or friends who jump to my defense. A few have told me they were deliberately showing their kids that men in thongs are not a threat. That's a seal of approval. So don't be put out if a mother and kids invade your space, they may become your new best beach friends.
