Date Posted:03/27/2026 02:31:38Copy HTML Ohio's Statehouse Representatives just passed a bill (not a law yet, because it still has to go to the Ohio Senate) making thongs illegal. It was part of what they called their "Indecent Exposure Modernization Act". (Yeah, right.) The bill's main purpose was to go after drag shows and dressing in a way not of one's "assigned" sex, but along the way, they also modified Ohio's standard public indecency standard. Current law bans exposure of "private parts" (which as been judicially interpreted NOT to mean buttocks or female breasts). They are changing that to "private areas" (part of existing law regarding strip clubs), but "private areas" include buttocks and breasts, and includes the further provision "where nude or covered by an undergarment". (Just think what that might mean.) Ohio is run by morons (and has been for a long time). Here's a link to the bill as passed by the Ohio House: HB-249. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/27/2026 04:41:22Copy HTML This aligns with the Project 2025 push to criminalize sexuality. This is sad. Ohio was a place where thong wearing was allowed. Look at the number of posiiposts about wearing a thong to the beaches, state parks and pools there are on this site. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/27/2026 05:14:54Copy HTML I think it's a stupid bill that probably won't pass and if passed will probably be loosely enforced. Either way it's the problem mainly for the citizens of Ohio. My solution is don't go to Ohio.
Ohio is the last place I'd want to go to thong anyway.... the outcome will be similar to that Australian anti thonging issue that fizzled out last year.
Thonging isn't related to criminalizing sexuality. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/27/2026 05:35:27Copy HTML I will never understand the United States.
Laws are more homogeneous between European countries than between American states.
It seems very difficult to understand what is authorized and what is banned from a state to an other.
Do Americans themselves understand this complexity when they travel or do they make mistakes ? |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/27/2026 07:20:43Copy HTML @stringueur.... you asked, "Do Americans themselves understand this complexity when they travel or do they make mistakes ?"
The answer is even Americans travel, we understand that there is federal law which encompasses the entire country and there are individual state laws that differ from state to state. Sometimes ss travelers, we're unaware of the law in that state and we unintentionally break the law. Some states allow firearms, some allow Marijuana, some allow abortion, and some are inversely the opposite. We have different regions with different sets of values and different problems entirely. Different states have different views on immigration and sanctuary cities and it all boils down to political views and political parties. Most of us are mostly centrists...
Honestly most of us Americans could care less what Europeans think. I believe Europeans have an ill-informed superiority complex and guess who they call for help when they're in trouble..... the US of A!!!
As a period thong wearing American, I could care less about proposed ohio state law and the opinions of Europeans. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/28/2026 12:12:23Copy HTML For all those on here who don't like to discuss politics. These kinds of bills are why you can't just stick your head in the sand an pretend like it doesn't exist. For those that think both parties are the same. Or have some weird belief that the republican party is the one for person freedoms etc... Look at the votes on this bill by party If freedom to wear a thong without fear is important to you, you're a fool to vote republican. 63 Votes for this bill, all with an (R) after their name. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/28/2026 09:03:36Copy HTML Is it possible to have a discussion without bringing American politics into it?
Guestguest, thank you for the first part of your answer.
But guys, don't be so susceptible and on edge.
Telling that there are no sun in UK is NOT a criticize of USA politics...
Asking how you deal with the complexity of the rules in each state is NOT an ill-informed superiority complex.
Sorry, but I have never travelled to the USA (not enough money whereas I would like). I am just interesting in understanding other countries because Europe is NOT all the world.
Sorry to be only curious.
I don’t want to get into a political debate because I’m not qualified enough to do so. My knowledge is too limited. When I don’t know something, I keep quiet.
So, my real question is : if one day I travel to USA, how can I easily find out the differences in state laws regarding thongs so I don't break the law ?
Please understand that these rules can sometimes be difficult for travelers to grasp.
For example, I had problems with Austrian Police because I drove too fast with my trailers. The speed limit was 90 km/h with a trailer in France whereas there are no specific speed limit in France with little trailers.
I had a serious issue and I don't speak german. Lol. Luckily austrian policemen were comprehensive due to my nationality (fucking french they thought). |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/28/2026 01:20:40Copy HTML Stringueur, the difference in laws from state to state can be quite challenging here in the US. A great example is where I can carry a handgun and where I cannot. Laws in states, pertaining to this, change frequently. Many of the guns and magazines I have in my safe are completely legal here in Florida and many other states, yet in many states around the country I would be guilty of a felony and put in prison, for a lengthy stay, just for possessing them. This is quite problematic for military personnel when they get transferred from duty in one state to a duty location in another state.
As for this bill working it's way thru the Ohio legislature, as a conservative/republican, I think these dumbass representatives must be purposely trying to alienate themselves from younger voters.... |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/28/2026 01:41:42Copy HTML The rules in the USA vary depending on which state you are in,
then which county in that state;
which city in that county in that state;
which park in that city in that county in that state.
Federal land has different rules than national forest service land, than county or city parks, than city beaches, than one end of the same beach to the other. For example Haulover beach where one end of the exact same county park allows full nudity and the other end does not.
It leads to strange situations that Americans think are normal. For example in half the counties in
Texas are "dry", you can't buy an alcoholic drink. So the residents drive to the border of the county, and 100 feet over the boarder there is a large liquor store. So the residents still drink, but have to go to the next county to purchase their beer or wine.
You might ask , "Do they not have bars in the dry counties and where do they go for fun on a Friday night?"
They still have bars, but they don't sell alcoholic drinks. So you bring your own bottle, they put your name on it and put it behind the bar. This is a "bottle club". When you want a drink you go ask the barman and he pours your drink from your bottle, that you brought with you, that you previously purchased in the adjoining county.
To the rest of the world it may seem a little strange that the US just paid ONE BILLION dollars to the French company TotalEnergies to cancel a US based windfarm, they were building to supply electricity to the US.
OR it may seem odd that NASA canceled all the earth science satellites, and low cost interplanetary probes to reenact the rather expensive 1960's maned moon landing. But to many Americans the attempt to recreate the warm hurburus of a romanticised 1950's America, (before most were born), gives them the same fuzzy feeling they get at their favorite theme parks, or when praying in church.
They have a house, a car and a job - so a righteous belief in the superiority of the USA is all they need to feel complete. Others are not so sure.
Unfortunately politics in the USA is more of a belief system than a rational debate. When people bring up policy issues they get shot down with Ad Hominem attacks. The polarization is more ingrained than support for their sports team, while failing to realize they are the ones paying the high ticket price while a billionaire owner walks off with all the profits.
The USA is a strange place inhabited by strange people, half of whom are distinctly below average. The dunning kruger effect is amplified by a distinct lack of political introspection, combined with a religious belief that the American system is best, and if you don't like it leave.
The political and media system rewards the "who we are against" rather than what we will improve form of debate and government. This leads to a lot of 'straw-man' arguments and blame of minorities. It does not help that leaders openly fan the flames of religious and racial superiority.
The American core belief system has always been rather homophobic, anti-trans, misogynistic and chauvinistic. It is not just icing on the cake, but a core ingredient, fueled by, and often under the cloak of religion.
I don't have an answer, or a magic wand. It is a strange place, insulated from the rest of the world by two vast oceans, yet currently picking fights with all its near neighbours, and even places on the other side of the world who have done them no harm. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/28/2026 03:22:40Copy HTML I agree with JM_Runs. Recently I went to visit my brother in Florida. The county he lives in has a "No Thong" rule. One of the cities in the county that has a beach that has lots of tourists refuses to enforce the "No Thong" rule.
Here in Santa Cruz you can walk nude downtown but do it at the beach and you'll get arrested. Go figure.
Same with guns state to state. Same with trans people trying to determine if they are going to get arrested and thrown in jail for using the wrong restroom.
I can pretty much wear my leggings anywhere in California but crossover the state line into Nevada and someone is threatening to beat me up. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:03/31/2026 12:38:00Copy HTML Here's more on NakedNikki running for congrass!
"Niki Frenchko, a Republican candidate for Ohio's 14th Congressional District, isn't letting the fact that she enjoyed some time at a nude beach while on vacation derail her campaign.
The "Naked Niki" nickname she's been given by her opponent, incumbent Republican Congressman Dave Joyce, is not about to slow her down.
In fact, when she heard about the nickname and allegations that she was on OnlyFans due to her nude beach adventures, she leaned into it.
Frenchko announced her response on social media, "Since Dave Joyce and his team call me ‘Naked Niki’ and some have even accused me of having an OnlyFans account, I figured I might as well expose everything, so I’ll be announcing my own OF page."
Her "OF page" was a new campaign website called OnlyFrenchko.com, where she is "Exposing it ALL." It warns that "Washington insiders may find this content offensive."

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:05/04/2026 03:57:22Copy HTML From what I understand about this bill - Nowhere does it say anything about any law changes pertaining to Ohio State Parks. It is mainly about adult entertainment establishments. So if this passes in the Ohio Senate, I'm confused if I can still where a thong or g-string to any Ohio State Park legally. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:05/04/2026 01:45:09Copy HTML PM. The bill, if passed, would apply to the entire state. Yes, it mainly deals with adult entertainment (adding drag shows to the definition thereof). But it also hits 2907.09, the public nudity statute. For a long time now, it has been the basis for allowing thongs and topfree, not just in State Parks, but everywhere in Ohio. That is based on the words "private parts" which has been ruled by the courts to include ONLY genitals.
Over the years there have been various attempts to modify that (and I have been instrumental in keeping it the same, lobbying against other bills)
Anyways, this time they want to change "private parts", to "private area", which is the part of Ohio law pertaining to the adult entertainment industry. "Private area" is defined in the code as: "Private area" means the genitals, pubic area, buttocks, or female breast below the top of the areola, where nude or covered by an undergarment. And: "Nudity," "nude," or "state of nudity" means the showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic area, vulva, anus, anal cleft, or cleavage with less than a fully opaque covering; or the showing of the female breasts with less than a fully opaque covering of any part of the nipple.
One hopes these morons in the legislature are just showboating before the election, and the bill gets no further. |

Re:Ohio House Passes Bill Banning Thongs Date Posted:10/01/2026 02:08:24Copy HTML Ohio? I don't know but US tourism is down about 5% lately- a lot due to travel costs and poor state of the European economy. Though you said you no longer have an interest in going, so it seems like you wanted to before. However, I'm still very interested in touring much of Europe. The history, the architecture, the food. It is still a very safe place to visit for anyone and has an incredibly diverse set of things to do. I've been saving up and am definitely looking forward to a European vacation this upcoming summer. |
