This is Matching's female half here. Does anybody know if this costume is still made by Arena - or anybody else. I've been searching for a proper swimming costume with a thong back for ages and it seems that leading sportswear manufacturers have given up on thong backs. I'm NOT interested in fashion wear ones or those for posing around the pool, but one that supports and allows one to swim laps but gives the benefit and freedom of a thong back. The first one I saw was by a pool in Spain in about 1990 / 91, as worn by a thirty something mother sunning with the rest of her family - and it was HOT! I think this high - cut one piece style is really flattering and I'm unsure why it's now so unpopular (in common with women's thong workout leotards worn over tights - now that was sexy and very popular in its day). However about three years ago I saw several women wearing one piece thong suits at the same resort (Nerja in Spain). Perhaps one shop was selling a few! |

The most likely reason you don't see that many women on the beaches in them is because they don't give a great tan. If you are going to be wearing a thong you might as well go topless or wear a bikini top as you will get a better tan than if you wore a thong body suit. Saying that though a lot of women still wear thong bodysuits over leggings for aerobics.
On a similar note if you are watching the music channels lookout for a video by Eric Prydz entitled 'Call On Me'. It features a group of women doing an aerobics session to the song. The interesting bit about the video is that they are all wearing thong bodysuits. All have wonderful bodies and the thong bodysuits make their tanned legs look even longer. Hopefully this video will re-introduce thong bodysuits as it appears it's going to be a very sucessful song (in Europe anyway). It's getting loads of play in the clubs around the holiday resorts in the Med. So fingers crossed for a comeback of the thong bodysuit. |

Re：One Piece thong swimsuit - for proper swimming Date Posted：08/17/2004 04:34:13Copy HTML Hi, personally I think the one piece slingshot thong suits look fantastic and sometimes look a lot better than the minimal bikini bottoms that are on the market just because they are different and turn more heads, but from my point of view I wouldn't wear them as they don't expose enough skin to the sun to get a maximum tan. Her slingshot suits in her sexiest suits leave a woman almost naked, especially the string back suits. Have you looked at Colleen Kelly's suits? I fully agree, they are different and to my male point of view very sexy. RDS

The one-piece is still my favorite and my wife has one that I get to see once or twice a year in our pool. She prefers the rio one-piece and we have matching rio's.

Unless you speak and understand Japanese it is very difficult to know what is going on. That said, the quality of the items especially the material (a cross between the WW shiny lycra and the strength of the lap swimming material), stitching and zippers are first class products. I have four suits that are more than two years old and have been both used in chlorinated pools, salt water and even at a waterpark.
A word of warning, they are tiny. I usually wear small or x-small but at this store, I need to wear a large. |

Her suits are exactly what the OP & others would want for swimming laps. Plenty of options to choose from. My GF has the "Blue Hawaii" suit, and it's the same cut & style as the St. Raphael (which is probably the best suit for the purpose) - just a different fabric. There is also the St. Tropez, but it's sheer when wet, so that one might not be what you want.

Unless you have contacts in Japan who can buy and send to you then, your options are very limited tjjones.
There are some people on the web that specialise in buying items from Japan and ship them to the US but they are very expensive and the lag times are also very considerable. I would look around for custom swimsuit makers or aerobic costume makers and try them. If you get a really good one, they will be able to make you a decent version of the suit just based on your measurements and the photos. I have also done that with some success using some pictures from the racing-swimsuit-shop.jp website. Good Luck. |

Not a bad alternative for those who would want to buy something from that store but be weary of the delays from racing swimsuit, as I said in an earlier post, they sometimes need four weeks to source the item. That said, the quality and the material is some of the best I have ever worn - super shiny and excellent stitching and totally transparent (especially the white and the baby pink) when wet.
Also be careful of the sizing, they are tiny! |

I lived in Japan for nearly a year and the went swimming very often at the University of Tokyo swimming pool and at the Tokyo Metropolitan Indoor Pool and at that time the lap swimming scene is very vibrant. The rules are strict everyone who swims has to wear a swim cap and swimming attire which constitutes a Speedo for guys and a one piece swimsuit for women. Swimming was compulsory at high school and everyone wore the racing swimsuits, maybe not cut like those on the website, but I would say that one could get away with wearing those racing style swimsuits very easily and you probably would not get hassled by the lifeguards. Not sure what it is like now but I doubt things would have changed that much. |

The one piece thong is to me a very confident and athletic look. I bet some girls are wearing these suits somewhere blowing people minds.

Pilates, yoga and lap swimming.
I have to say that the lap swimming scene is about the same as I remember it from years ago. The pools are full and everyone wears swimming caps, women wear one piece racer style swimsuits and the men wear either a speedo or jammer style swimwear. I did see several women wearing one piece racing style swim thongs which were really cool. They are quite easily available in most major department and sporting goods stores and the Japanese domestic market manufacturers like Asics, Arena, Mizuno, Crane and Rising all make some nice styles and great bright colours. I did manage to pick up a number of suits, some of the styles are really nice but unfortunately unavailable outside Japan. |

Please cutback on starting new threads. Post replies to to existing threads on the subject.
If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly.
First paste it into notepad or other basic ascii editor so that the formatting codes are removed, then cut again. This will give you clean posts.
