Well looked for asics mizuno crane and rising swimwear could not find a one piece ladies thong.
Did find this one on ebay looks about right.

These one-piece suits by a Japanese company called Realise look pretty good:

http://acqueen.com/img/realise/t-008_1.jpg

I'm completely new to thonging so I have my heart set on getting a suit like this one day. I like the fact they are a little bit more revealing than a regular one piece, and have not lost that sporty look.

Their website is: http://www.new-realise.com

Hi Sk8ch
I have about five suits from Realise and a number from Rising (the old company). They are very high quality and will last a long time. I have a couple of suits that are four years old and are still great.
Just be careful of the sizing japanese sizing is very small and make sure you size up.
Also be careful of the transparency of the material. Most race suits are not lined other than the modesty crotch panel, so assume that light colors will be see through.

Thanks for that bbyrne78. I'm glad to hear something good about them, as there isn't a huge amount of info about them online. I think they look awesome though, especially the T-008SH in gunmetal.

hi

good link and love the suits, I've managed to follow the links to get to Amazon Japan. I want to get one for my girlfriend but unfortunately I've enountered two problems.

1. I don't know which size to get
2. It is literallly in Japanese!!

I found a bit where it says you can translate to english, but that revealed that they don't ship outside - bbryne are you not in Aus? did they send it to you?

I'd say my gf is either a medium or large in UK sizes, not sure what that would translate to in Japan..

Has anyone actually seen these suits being worn in public?

Hi Mark, living in Australia, I have used Rakuten, the link JM provided with some past success, but also been burnt as well. In terms of sizing use the size chart on this website www.jpnswimming.net .

The size chart is very good, the sizes for asian swimwear is better for me since the western sizing is so generous.

The best chance of success is having a contact in Japan who will take delivery of the item and on post it to you.

The lap swimming scene is still very big in Japan and the difficulty in getting the suits outside Japan make it a rare sight outside Japan.

Don't forget about the asian racing suit sizes, I normally need to wear a small UK racing suit, I wear a large asian racing size, it is very snug.

Racing suits should be snug to stop water collecting within the suit.

Also the rubberized suits have even less stretch to them so be careful and good luck!

Thanks for the link to "realise" they certainly have some great suits, if I ever suss out the japanese I'll order my GF a couple!
I've got a couple of men's suits from Rakuten and they are very good, I've not bought the GF anything from there yet as I wanted to see how the men's ones shaped up, so to speak.

I will be getting her a couple of their thong bikinis for tanning and a thong onepiece for lap swimming as soon as funds allow, I might even order myself a couple more, they are well made and I like the fit of the ones I have.

With regard to competition thong backed suits take a look at "Skinzwear" they make some awesome onepiece thongbacked suits and if you have them made in the right material and colour they look exactly like a proper swim suit, (only with a thong back)   I had a couple made for my GF, one in black and one in royal blue, she only ever really wears these for lap swimming now, they're not cheap but well worth it, with proper care they have lasted her 3 years now and that's in a chlorineated pool

Hmmm Very Nice suits it would be impressive to see more of them in the pool. I have encountered the asian size thing to with just swim thongs and briefs they are tiny so 2 sizes bigger than normal usually!

They would look great at the pool. They almost look like a regular one-piece from the front. I would wear one if I had the confidence.

Rakuten is an order processing company.  They deal with lots of vendors.  I don't think mens suits ordered through them will not be coming from the Realise brand line, which are suits for women.

The ebay sellers are charging 2 to 3 times the price. They were not cheep to start with, when you double or triple the price it gets ridiculous.

thank you for the links everyone, very helpful.

Bit concerned about the material of the Realise suits actually, I don't want her to look like she's wearing a rubber suit! I'm also worried I'll get a slap if I order her a suit in XL ..!

The Realise one piece  is a great design though, are they all in the rubber material or are there any in the typical swimsuit material?

Re:One Piece thong swimsuit - for proper swimming

Realise use three different materials, the rubberized material, 'HYDRO CD' material and a matte like material which is as thin as the HYDRO CD, but not as transparent.

For lap swimming, the matte finish is the best as it very thin but less transparent. Go with the HYDRO CD in light colours if you are very brave or have a private pool.

The rubberized material is also prone to scratches and grazes.

They seem to have an obsession with one piece thongs in Japan. Alot of the images you see on the web, you tube and dialy motion of one piece thongs are Japanese girls. has anyone been their to see if they wear them on their beaches?

Asian girls don't have breasts. So, the bikini is not the best choice for them, because it is obvious they are flat.
I think that is the reason why asian girls prefer to wear one piece swimsuit : so you don't look at they breasts but at their legs... and if it is a thong (a one piece thong), it is more true...

Big breasts -> bikini
Little breasts -> one piece swimwear

Re:One Piece thong swimsuit - for proper swimming

I am not sure about that theory. I think it is more aligned to physical education classes in school. Swimming is compulsory and the school swimming uniform is always a one piece. In high school, girls are provided a racing suit, very similar to the Realise suit, often mostly white. It would seem that girls will wear what they are familiar with when swimming, hence the large number of one pieces available.

In terms of the beach scene, I have been to the amazing beaches in Okinawa and the ratio is about 60/40 with one pieces being the more popular. Young and fashionable girls will wear two pieces.

I am part of the triathlon, surfing and surf life saving community and lap swim three or more days a week. Originally I wore a Speedo S2000 suit with a very high leg cut, that always wedged up into a thong. Eventually, I bought a Mizuno one piece which was pretty much a thong. No one seemed to care and it was very flattering, so it was mainly thongs from then on. Occasionally, I'll wear an Asics hydro CD suit or Mizuno racing suit but more often I'll wear the suits I have from racing-swimsuit.shop-pro or Realise. The matte finish Realise suits are better for swimming since they are less transparent. The transparent suits I'll save for home.

I would like to buy a rather conservative one-piece swimsuit for my wife (for proper swimming, ie lap swimming), but with a thong back. Something like the Raphaeli from Brigite, but not high-cut, I don't like high-cut.. (Or rather like the Jamaika String Body from Wolford, http://www.wolfordshop.com/Ready-to-Wear-String-Bodies/Jamaika-String-Body/cp56552/si4470273/cl2/vt01/ ) Could anybody help me with any link or homepage or idea where I could find anything like this?

i have ordered a few, their sizing is pretty accurate, and they do have a lot of stretch. I am 6'2" and wear a large.would be better to buy from them through their ebay site. not sure what the difference in exchange rates would be, but they do tend to list in other currencies. just pick the cheaper listing to buy from.

I recently received a number of PMs asking where to look for one piece thongs. One point I did forget to mention is that most one pieces available at the stores can be easily modified into a thong swimsuit. I have a very good tailor who is always up for converting swimsuits. Be warned, there is a bit of a learning curve associated with sewing with lycra, especially with the strength needed for swimwear. Just don't expect perfection the first time.

Speedo and Tyr one pieces are very tricky because of their stitching, but with a bit of practice the results are very good.

I hope this helps.

Re:One Piece thong swimsuit - for proper swimming

Date Posted:09/03/2013 10:19:34Copy HTML

My tailor just finished modifying six one piece lap swimming suits into extreme high sided thong swimsuits. Annie did a fantastic job extending and reducing the sides to about 5cm under the bust line. She also needed to streamline the front and the back of the suit.

The result is an extreme high leg suit which looks like a sexy cartoon version of a racing swimsuit. I was inspired by a Japanese blogger who sells modified racing swimsuits into these wild creations. I don't think I will ever wear these while lap swimming (there is not enough coverage and I think I'll get kicked out of the pool) or in public (just too high and too risky when it comes to front floss effects).

I'll only wear them at home in our pool and when doing yoga (although only when I know my husband is watching).

This is a great option for those who cannot get high quality (read strong) one piece thongs. They do not need to make them as extreme, but it works well if you get a great tailor or at least allow the tailor to experiment a few times.

Love Bren

Beware when buying a suit from "Realise", the fit is extremely small.  Therefore, a petite EU woman may need to purchase a size M or even L.  However, Realise do a "Big Size" which is marketed towards the non-Japanese (extremely petite) figure.
As for a size which would suit men, I've not tried a suit from this company yet, so I cannot comment.

Seems the high cut one piece craze is uncovering a lot of thong and bikini tan lines as you've seen.  The skin crease above the thigh is exposed.  Someone's used the term "thigh brow".  Seems the tanlines accentuate the thigh brow look.

Hi,I appreciate the research people have carried out, but just a reminder that the thread was about swimsuits for proper swimming. Anything weird or has 'sexy' in the sales blurb usually means it won't be comfortable or stand up to 'proper swimming.'I was thinking of swimsuits from the major manufacturers such as speedo, arena, TYR, Zoggs, Adidas, etc. Thanks all.

A possibility might  be a brand called Turbo. You can find their products on swimoutlet.com
They primarily make water polo suits for men and women. The bathing suits are built well and will last.
I do allot of lap swimming about 3 miles a week a d they hold up well. The only thing is that they will not stretch because they are made for water polo and there is allot of that in a match
