    I just found this thread on Ormond Beach.   I live in Ormond.  Grew up wearing speedos at the beach (and nothing at the YMCA pool).  Preferred the nudity.  Eventually was wearing thongs or at least very small and somewhat revealing bikinis.  Was amazed when my wife & I moved here to see the lack of speedos on the beach.  I refuse to wear more than a speedo, whether sunning, swimming or just walking the beach.     In the summer, I walk 1 1/2 hours 2 to 3 times a week wearing a bikini somewhat smaller than the 1" sided Speedos.  Unlined of course.   When walking and not planning to sun afterwards, I usually wear a T shirt so I don't need to bother with sun tan lotion on my torso.  In the summer I start my walk at sunrise.  I usually start at the Beach Bucket Restaurant (park on the beach ramp).  Upon my return, I change my T shirt for an old white thin long sleeve shirt for a cover up and go to the Beach Bucket for breakfast.  The bikini isn't hidden when I walk, and is obvious even with the white shirt.  I refuse to wear more than a speedo sized bikini and do prefer less.    Tell me about North Peninsula State Park.  Are thongs tolerated there?  Frequently worn there?Paul

Hey Paul, Thanks for the info on the Beach Bucket. Wife and I visit Ormond every Sept and January now, but never stopped in there. Definitely on our hit list now. Maybe see you the end of September!

 Just looking for a place to thong if I have time to stop on my way to and from New Smyrna Beach

 Sailor25:    Well, I must admit that in the almost 10 years I've lived in Ormond Beach I've only seen 3 men in thongs.  An additional 2 others who were laying on their backs so I couldn't confirm they were wearing thongs, but based on the minimal size of the front and sides, they could easily have been thongs.   

When I moved here from the Boston area I was astonished at how conservative the local men's swimwear was.   More conservative than Boston's North Shore and Massachusetts's Cape Cod. My vacations to Key West and Fort Lauderdale had made me expect a fair representation of brief style (e.g. Speedo brand) swimwear on men.    

I routinely walk the beach for an hour or more on average 2 times a week about 8-9 months of the year.  I seldom see others in brief style swimwear, never mind thongs.     

As to where to wear thongs - first I'd suggest you read through the other posts here.  One place I've thonged locally in in front of the Makai  Beach Resort ( https://themakai.com/ ).    I went there on the recommendation of another guy on this site.  He and I were the only thongers there that day.  There were several other guys in brief-style suits.  He also told me that another thonger had been there the day before as well as others in briefs.   

FYI, thongs and G-strings are legal on Volusia ocean beaches.  HOWEVER some cities (including Ormond Beach and Daytona Beach) don't allow thongs - so wear a cover up to and from the beach.    Good luck !

Well, today I took a spontaneous visit out to Flagler Beach, near the water tower, to enjoy the afternoon in a turquoise California Muscle thong, and it was fantastic! I got there around 2:30pm. The sun was warm, and there was a cool breeze blowing across the beach. I saw maybe seven older people, all fully dressed and just sitting in their chairs talking. A couple of the guys were fishing. By the time I left at 5pm, several more people had shown up with their dogs to go for walks. Just one young couple with a young kid walked by. Not only was I the only person in a thong, I think I was the only person in a swimsuit of any kind. No harassment, no comments, just a couple of looks from passers-by. All in all, a great afternoon!

Any other thonging couples interested in thonging together in Ormond or Daytona this summer? Me and my girl are dying to hit the beaches soon and would love some company.
