Date Posted:14/04/2004 09:18:39Copy HTML We have a general policy on this board that links in a thread should be on topic. Therefor we don't allow web links or email address that are not relevant to the subject of the thread. We also don't like "contact me" comments in the general threads, the contact section of the board is the correct place for that. If your signature or tag line has links to other web sites, invitations for people to contact you, or items promoting something, it appears on ALL your posts. This causes the information to appear in threads where it is not related to the subject of the tread. Therefore we don't allow any web links or email addresses in posts or tag or signature lines. Tag lines like:
are distracting to the reader of the thread, and irrelevant if talking about a beach in St Martin. Therefor the policy on this site is you can have a short and cheerful signature line that does not have web address, email address, contact info, or personal info that is meant to elicit a contact. You may however include a reference to your location in the signature line. This some times helps people understand where you are coming from, both literally and figuratively. Examples of ok signature lines:
Each user has their own personal profile. You can make all or parts of it public. If you want to post personal information, email address or IM contact info then do it in your personal profile page. If you want people to contact you, then post a contact in the contacts section. In a contacts post remember to include where you are in the world. You don't need to post an email address because users can contact you directly by using the boards private message feature or look at the information in your profile that you selected to make public. All postings on this board, including the contacts section must be non-sexual. Links or email address that are posted anywhere else on the board are inappropriate, unless the link pertains directly to the subject in the thread. If you do want to publicize a site then post a link it in the 'links to other sites' section. |
