Open to any other suggestions on a place to go or stay. I know I will be tired of the NC coast cold in Jan or Feb. If we could afford to move further south I would. John |

Tween waters looks great thats a fantastic location. Maybe lots of famalies but plenty of thongin chances at the cabanas on the beach. I say sanibel and captiva a very thong friendly places.

After I got a ways from the crowd, I took off the square-cut suit I was wearing and walked the rest of the way in a red (almost sheer) g-string. A little while later, I came up on a couple laying out in their g-strings. The husband spoke and asked me where I got my g-string, that he liked it, especially with the Y-back. We started talking and they invited me to hang out on the beach with them. There were a few other thongers not too far from us. I spread my towel and set up camp for the day. After talking a while, we started talking about nude sunbathing. They told me before I came up they had been planning on going nude. I told them I didn't have a problem with it. So, she took off her top. We decided to go for a swim shortly after. Before going into the water, the man took off his g-string, looked at me and said, "you might as well join us." I took mine off, we went for a swim and spent the rest of the day nude. We looked down the beach a bit later and most of the thongers had decided to go nude as well.

As of today we are planning a sanibel trip its a great place...if you prefer peace and quite over big city sobe vibes. Not very crowded, lots of good places to eat awesome 18 hole golf course and very thong tollerant beaches. Looks like we are going to try a sea shells condo or sunshine inn this go around. Can wait to see how much its come back from the hurricane.

Sounds like my moderate thongs will be no problem, like in Bermuda where I'm always the only one. Just a normal guy enjoying the beach and pool with his wife like everybody else. If we get to Bowman's, great, but our inn will be our focus. Any warnings, anyone, new conditions, maybe?

The weather was great (high 80's) with full sun and no clouds at all. Had a few new pictures taken of a couple of the new suits I just received from Dore. Take a look on my pictures/Images area called - Bowmans Beach. For those who have never been to Bowmans Beach - the best place to go is the VERY VERY FAR North part of Bowmans Beach. From the Bowmans Beach Metered Parking lot - expect a 30 to 40 minute walk to the more quite beach area to hang out and thong. It's worth the walk.. By heading up to that area of the beach you are less apt of having any problems with families, kids or those who may be more conservative and do not want to look as someone butt crack. To me - I can appreciate this and I'm not the type that wants to push buttons and cause problems. By heading out and being in this low key area is the best way to enjoy your time on this VERY long stretch of beach. Enjoy Bowmans - I do. :) jtan |

Legal everywhere except the city of Clearwater and Honeymoon Island, accepted most places without comment, and even common in a few. And if you stay at the south end of the county, Siesta Key is a fairly easy drive. Wide beach with fantastic sand.

Hope to hit Bowman's a week from today when we're staying on Sanibel, may be the only place can break out the string for a start on my overall tan. Most other places on our trip I'll likely be better off sticking to a thong, the mildly risque cut-down speedo vs. esssentially naked (so says my wife). Thanks for posting.

Nice weather, saw a few nudes and met a pleasant chap in a white string. Stripped to my trusty tan-thru sliding g-string, the only time I managed that on our trip. Appears to be the same area as Jtanguy's pix. Rode the inn's bike from the E. Gulf area, took an hour. Next time I'll drive to the parking area by the bridge to Captiva -- quicker trip, shorter walk to the thonging spot, more time sunning.

It's a long distance from just south of the bridge to where you'll encounter the crowds parked at the end of Bowman's Beach Road.
As for laying out nude, be forewarned, best be discreet, back off the sand. The guy I talked to kept his suit on because the authorities issued him a warning the week before, he didn't want to get caught again and be in more serious trouble. BTW, near the prominent dead tree stumps, less than a mile down, seems to be where the regulars set up. Nice beach, good swimming, I think you'll like it, good luck. We tried stopping at Mucky Duck's on south Captiva, for dinner and watching the sunset. A zoo, forget it, not a parking space to be had. We watched the sunset from the north end of Bowman's instead, by the bridge. We liked Sanibel a lot, plan to return, but south Captiva might be even better. Do you know where you're staying yet? My wife would love rubbing shoulders with the laid-back, old-money wealthy, pretending we belong. Would be easy to jog down to Bowman's in my onionskins, cap and flats, then like you strip to my string and run down the beach to a place to set up for the day, clutching a towel, with water and lunch in a fanny pack. Upon arrival there were some families set up on the main beach area, and there were a LOT of fishermen fly fishing for quite a ways up the beach. I didn't see any minimal swimwear on the main beach and I didn't want to be the first so I made the long walk northward. The roughly 2 mile walk wouldn't normally be a problem but it was a challenge with my foot still hurting. I probably could have gotten away with a g-string in the main area as I was getting a better vibe from the patrons vs. the main beach areas at Turtle & Siesta. I think there were more Hispanics at Bowmans Beach and I find them to be more tolerant of minimal swimwear vs. the crowds I observed at Siesta Key for example.
In any event I set up way north a few hundred yards short of the dead tree. I had the whole beach to myself but kept the g-string on the whole time. While there were no patrols on this day I could see the tire tracks in the sand so I didn't want to chance it. There appeared to be a couple a ways past the dead tree but I could not make out their exact attire. There were a few passers by during the day but nobody else really set up shop there. Swimming was really nice. On two different occasions a few dolphins swam within about 15 feet of me which was really awesome to see (at least I hope they were dolphins and not sharks LOL!). By early afternoon a thunderstorm was brewing to the south so I walked half-way back. The fishermen that occupied this area in the morning had left so I set up shop again probably only a couple hundred yards from the main beach in my g-string. This way if the thunderstorm got closer I'd have a shorter walk to get back to the car. Again there were a few more people passing by but no rude comments or surprising reactions. Overall, I liked Bowman's beach the most out of the one's I visited on my SW Florida swing (Casperson, Siesta, Turtle, Fort Myers). It was the most expansive beach with lots of room to roam and find a good spot, and there were no creepy characters like at Caspersen. Too bad I could only spend one day here as I was staying farther north around Venice for the week. |

Once you get on to the beach head North (away from the other beach goers). Walk about 20 - 25 minutes along the beach and it will be a perfect paradise away from most of the other beach goers. You will find a few thongers along your way. Be sure to feed the meter enough money for the amount of time you plan on staying at the beach as you will not want to walk back to feed more money to the meter.

I snorkeled in my Dore push-up thong (decided to go a little conservative considering the crowd) and my wife wore a black g-string on the towel and a cover-up (booty shorts) in the water...we left when the storms started to roll in.

(It wasn't too bad... but it was not the Typical Bowmans beach experience one would like - that's for sure.)
I had not been out on Sanibel / Bowmans for over a month and I didn't realize they were doing this to the beach (or I would not have gone). The weather held out - and I stayed until 5:30 pm. Turned out to be a nice day after all and the water temps were great. I would check with the travel & tourism office if anyone has plans to go out any time soon to make sure they are done. This equipment looked like they were going to be there for a while. |

The upside is this weekend is looking to be just as great - if not better. Saturday's weather is going to be full sun at 88 Degrees and Sunday Full sun at 89 degrees. LOVE IT... :)

It's a private beach reserved for Hyatt bonita springs an a neighboring community. No thongs on the beach just rios bottoms. I ended up wearing my sun seeker rio in graphite grey. No complaints from any beach goers mostly families. When we came back to our resort I did see one very pretty Spanish decent lady wearing a very sexy thong style blue suit, also no one cared what she had on among the families at the pool. I ended up changing to my square cut skinz suit for the pool. Tomorrow I think I will keep my sun seeker rio to swim in an join the lady in here thong

It's a long walk from the parking lot, but thongs are acceptable and the norm in the Northern section of the beach. I have not been out there in a month, but this time of year it's nice and quite. Enjoy your time on the Island.

The parking area was out of control with so many people here vacationing and for Spring Break. So if you plan on coming in March, you should plan on getting to the parking lot by 11:30 am. As for the beach, a lot has changed in terms of some of the beach erosion. A lot of the sand has been pulled out to the sea, but to some degree has extended it to make it wider in some areas. Regarding the thongers area just in the Northern Part of Bowmans, it was a lot quieter than I was expecting. There were four other male thongers out on Sunday and no couples. The water temps were nice enough to go in the water now and not come out and feel like your cold.

I walked about 20 minutes north from the parking lot to a spot where the sand bowed out into the dunes a bit more than average. I sunbathed nude, skinny-dipped, and walked the beach farther north nude.
I saw four other nude men: two together and two individuals. One of the individuals was a regular who lives in the area. He said that the sheriff’s patrol comes down the beach infrequently and was easy to spot on an ATV. Officials monitoring the environment also occasionally come down the beach on a similar vehicle, but they have no role in enforcing the anti-nudity regulation. In fact, one such vehicle passed by while I was talking with him. When walking back and forth to the parking lot, I did not see anyone wearing a thong swimsuit. I couldn’t imagine spending the time and money ($6 toll and $3/hour parking) merely to wear a thong swimsuit; I do that anywhere I go. I’m not even sure it’s worth it to go nude. A much better value is to be had at Haulover Beach on the east coast which has legal nudity and costs $6/day for parking. As for Captiva, I spent some time in a g-string swimsuit on the public beach abutting South Seas Resort. People were generally older and in conservative swimsuits, although there were some younger women in cheeky bikinis. I got some looks but had no issues walking the public beach and the beach in front of the resort. |

IT is arrogant jerks like you that can spoil a good thing for the rest of us thongers who enjoy it there to thong LEGALLY in the northern area of the beach.
The main beach at Bowman's is NOT a common place to thong, so you shouldn't have been thonging there to begin with. If you want to frolic in front of a lot of people in your thong - then keep it on the EAST COAST of FL at Haulover. Your kind is not welcome here. The $6.00 toll and the $3.00 an hour parking fee is to keep cheap low life people like you off the island. GLAD YOUR NOT coming back. |
If you get restricted access messages, use the Sign Out option from the menu at the top right, clear your browsers cookies, then Sign back in.

If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly.
First paste it into notepad or other basic ascii editor so that the formatting codes are removed, then cut again. This will give you clean posts.
