Date Posted:02/06/2019 12:11:21Copy HTML How do you search this board? Both for content and by poster? When you went to a member's profile, there used to be a "find all posts by ..." button, but I can't find it anywhere. |

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:05/06/2019 01:10:41Copy HTML You have never been able to search by poser for replies. However you can search by the poster who started a thread.
We really need full text searching.

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:05/06/2019 02:20:18Copy HTML There used to be a box that had the poster's recent posts in their profile.

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:05/06/2019 01:08:51Copy HTML You are right. It listed the last 10 posts by the user. I found it very helpful to see if the user was a regular troll or just off base on something.

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:29/07/2024 06:09:22Copy HTML Only being able to search for "Topic title" or "Topic author" is a huge let down. It makes it almost impossible to find threads that already exists before you post a new one. In 2024, missing this functionality is almost unreal . . .

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:29/07/2024 10:02:23Copy HTML My screen has an option to 'Search content' Works for me. |

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:31/07/2024 12:17:27Copy HTML In my web browser I can also see the "Search Content". But to the left you will have to choose where to search from the drop-down menu. I can only see "Topic Title" or "Topic Author", so it is not possible to search for keywords inside posts, only from the post title . . . very limiting . . . |

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:05/08/2024 06:16:02Copy HTML We should perhaps look into migrating the site (or having a backup) in case Aimoo goes the way of the dodo. Or is that too much work?

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:05/08/2024 01:41:52Copy HTML I totally agree thonguy! I love this board, but the design and features resembles something from 1995 . . . There must be better free options to host this board considering how many users we are. The biggest issue would surly be to migrate this whole forum, with everything intact! |

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:05/08/2024 03:29:01Copy HTML Let's be careful not to give JM_Runs unnecessary headaches! Organising this board, which would be way beyond me, must take a lot of effort. |

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:05/08/2024 07:00:56Copy HTML That was really not my intention, gsj!
We all appreciate the work that JM_runs puts into this forum, but the age of Aimoo is really showing . . . |

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:09/08/2024 04:43:45Copy HTML I'd volunteered to migrate the forum to Discourse (https://www.discourse.org/), but that didn't pan out... |

Re:Searching Posts Date Posted:17/08/2024 04:55:53Copy HTML There's a LOT to be said for Aimoo's longevity AND JM's longevity and perseverance with managing it. I'm very grateful for both! I merely meant, if Aimoo ever shuts down, it would be good to have a modern contingency in place so that we can migrate without having our hair on fire. If we took the time to do this, then maybe we could all move over to the new forum before that happens merely due to it's modernity. But I realize the effort involved. The problem is, right now, I can't even see who's responded to me via thread descriptions, or my latest posts (the profile page doesn't seem to update properly, or at least timely). I actually really like the simplicity of this ancient site, I just wish it had a bit more expandability with features. Just some musings! :) |
