We have been in two of the Secrets Resorts in Mexico. Nestled in the heart of Mexico, Secrets Huatulco welcomed us with its charming, albeit slightly dated, facilities. This is a hotel that primarily caters to tourists from Mexico and there we spotted a daring local in a thong, while I wore speedo style mini trunks and my wife stole the show in her micro thong – practically a G-string, turning heads and delighting onlookers. I also caught the attention because, in that resort, the majority of men wear board shorts, but there were no negative comments. We also didn't see any other women in such small swimsuits, so every day my wife seemed to have a waiting list of admirers enjoying the view from behind every time she stepped out of the pool. Fast forward to Secrets Moxché, a modern gem! This is a spectacular and new resort is located in the Riviera Maya, where it's very common to see tiny swimsuits on the beach, but within the facilities, it was a different story. A brave gent in his 50s sported a thong with no complaints. I stuck to short shorts, and my wife continued her micro thong saga. Once again, no negative comments towards me, just smiles of appreciation from both tourists and staff towards my wife's swimsuits. Overall, the atmosphere was conservative but positive. This summer, we'll be at Secrets Bahia Mita, north of Puerto Vallarta, and we'll share our report afterward.

My partner and I spent three days at Secrets Maroma back in 2018, and it was fantastic. I wore a thong the first day, and then switched to a g-string for the rest. As expected, I was the lone male, but not a single comment was heard at the pool, swim-up bar, strolling along the beach, or even walking back to the room. Overall, it was a fantastic vacation with great food, staff, and rooms.

Just got back from our third stay at a Secrets resort, this time at Riviera Nayarit. The crowd was a mix of locals and folks from the USA, with about half and half. A little observation: not many women rocking thongs, probably less than 15%. The majority of the women were wearing conservative two-piece swimsuits. But let me tell you, my wife stole the show! She wore micro g-strings for three days straight, putting practically all of her buns on full display. She got tons of stares, but it seemed like people weren’t quite used to such daring swimwear. No negative comments, though – mostly just approving smiles. As for me, I stuck with speedo-type shorts and switched to a very small brief on the last day (but not a thong). That definitely turned heads and got some comments, but nothing negative. In general, the men were wearing board shorts; only one athletic young guy wore short shorts like mine.. It’s interesting to note that the Secrets resorts on the Pacific coast are quite different from those in the Caribbean, where skimpier swimwear is more the norm. Had a blast as always!

We will be at the Secrets Royal Beach resort in the Dominican Republic next week. I'll be interested to see what the trend is.

theman21 It will probably be better in the Dominican Republic than in this part of Mexico where we have just been, in the Riviera Maya it has been very different compared to the Riviera Nayarit. I think the Caribbean in general is more relaxed, good luck and you'll talk to us!

We've been to quite a few Secrets; Moxche, Maroma, Akumal, The Vine, Playa Mujeres, Playa Blanca and Breathless Riviera Maya. All have been great regarding my wives thong and g-string bikinis. In the early years it was a small percentage of women in smaller bikinis, but now a lot more thongs are present. As for men, I've seen maybe a handful of thongs on all my trips combined. I'd say shorter board shorts are the most popular, with short short and speedos a good percentage down.
