 I am happily married too and you are correct, it is great! Luckily my wife is confident in herself and our marriage and is not threatened by whomever I meet on the beach.

 Yesterday I went to the local indoor pool and wore a semi-transparent Aussiebum square-cut. As I walked past the female lifeguard I kind of felt her eyes on my butt. I was right. She walked up to me and asked wether I was aware that my bum was practically showing. After appearing a little surprised I told her yes. But I didn't wanted to provoke anyone. She replied that it was all up to me, but I should just be aware that my butt was showing. After re-thinking the situation I chose to change into another Aussiebum square-cut that I had brought with me - non-transparent. I did my laps and that was it. I wasn't the first time I had worn the semi-transparent square-cuts at a public indoor-pool and until yesterday I had never had any comments. What do you think - should I not have changed swimwear and just carried through?

Up to you.  The issue is more what the front looked like than the back. 
It sounds like she did not ask you to change, just wanted you to know the seat was a bit transparent. 
I think she was just trying to be helpful.

Your mistake was pretending to be surprised, because then you had to pretend to care and went back to change.
You could have used the old swimmers excuse, "Yes, they are getting a bit thin, I think it's the pool chlorine."

Since you were there to do your laps, once you are in the pool I doubt anyone would have noticed.

 Right - they are semi-transparent in the front as well. Thats actually why I changed my mind - because I thought that she would definitively ask me to change if she saw the front. But you are right - in the water nobody would probably care. And the surprise-act was probably not a good idea...

I have ordered the dubio and hope to receive them soon.will enjoy wearing them in asean countries hopefully next month.Olso ordered some koala swimsuits which the extreme ones,though not the exotic ones Hope to post some pictures very soon.Incidentally is there a cap on the number of megabytes that we can put fer albuml.Anyone know how th reduce the pictures or compress themm step by srep.t

I once wore a Speedo style, but NOT Speedo brand, racing brief to a pool on a US Navy base residential area.  I had worn these before on a beach, but had not gotten them wet.  They were unlined, light gray, and then I saw they were REALLY see-thru when wet --- after I had been there for a half hour.  I had gotten some looks, but no comments.  These were just off-brand cheapies that were not intended to be transparent.  I now have a DMK Hawiian brief that is intended to be transparent in front, both wet and dry, but I don't wear it just anywhere.

I get the same reaction when wearing a Dore Triple Dip.  It has four or five horizontal 1/4" straps spaced about 3/4" apart across the front.  It looks like something fron a distance, only close up can one tell that it covers virtually nothing.  But only, as 'fithongbutt' says, " ... in the right setting ...".

When it is not acceptable to be fully nude but topfree is acceptable I wear my wicked weasel and it is very sheer.  There is nothing left to the imagination.  I do see any reason to wear a bottom, but society does so this is my compromise.

I agree, leave something to the imagination.

I personally don't find mesh type swimwear appropriate for a normal beach, I really don't want to see some guys package right there.  To be honest I think those suits look rather ridiculous more than anything.    But each to their own, I am more conservative with swimwear and more risque with underwear.

On a nudist beach though, fine, you expect to see everything.

I like a string where the material in front is thin enough to perfectly show the outline.  I feel many women like to see what you have but still leave a little bit to their imagination. More than one girl have said that they think it looks better wearing it up versus down.  When I am completely shaved I like to wear it down so I can wear a very very low front string to show I am bald.  When not shaved smooth, I like to wear it up so it shows off better.

I wear almost exclusively muscleskins suits and they are split into two camps the poser (formerly the MP) and the torpedo (formerly the MPX).  WHile the difference is subtle in the construction, it is extensive when you put the suits on.  The poser kinda balls things up and you can make out the faint outline of whats underneath.  The topedo puts it right out there and leaves almost nothing to the imagination.  That is why I am pretty concious of when and where I wear each.  I have no issue thonging on public beaches in the poser.  While it is easily the smallest suit any man is wearing, it is still appropriate because you cant see anything (other than the fact that I am completely hairless down there...LoL).  I reserve the torpedo only for Gunnison beach (or if I happen to be at some other clothing optional/nude beach).  It shows absolutely everything.  If you use the darker fabrics, you get a complete outline of everything, right down to the rim on your head.  If you use the lighter fabrics (i.e yellow, pink, tan, or any of the mesh materials) it is effectlively the same as painting yourself that color....LoL.   I would never wear the torpedo on a public beach, even south beach as I feel that most people who are at a public beach are not there to see a mans private parts.

I have a green thong that's very sheer when wet. It fits so tight when wet that you can see the outline of my penis. It's my favorite thong because of the way it fits, but the sheerness gives it a special touch. I remember one time a young girl (about 13, 14?) was very close to me in the water and she just kept looking at the front of my suit. I tried talking to her but she just stood there with her mouth hanging open and a shocked (yet delighted) look on her face. It was a great experience.

 Everyone is different, I wouldn't feel comfortable shocking a 13 year old girl for wearing a see through thong....If she was a 40 plus woman, I would even think that she might think I'm a bit of a perv.

Shocking 13 year olds is all the more reason why my most recent posts holds so true.  Contrary to some peoples opinion, the world is not interested in seeing your unit in a transparent suit.  Save it for your intimate friends or private parties.  When in public...keep it (opaquely) covered!!!

 Sometimes it can be a tricky situation, when you don't really realise that your suit is see through...
Some time ago I went for a swim on my lunch time, and wore a Low Cut Dore thong in aqua colour, unlined.It wasn't a new suit, maybe 3 or 4 years old, but still in great condition.
sunbaked for 30 min and got up to go for a swim;  when came back I realised it was really see through.  At that moment I said to myself, that's it, I should definitely stay away from bright colour suits from now on;   it only happens when wet but still isn't good enough.  I could get away with it because there wasn't anyone around and it was a week day.   Besides, darker colours always look better on my skin.  I sat down on my towel to dry, and a few minutes later I looked and it still was completely see through.Only then I realised that the spandex had become old, (lycra has a "use by date" and it's specially true for non dark colours), and this thong had reached it's due date.Luckily only very few people might have noticed it, and it wasn't a very nice experience for me, felt a bit like a flasher which I'm not.Never wore that suit again, I only wear it now as underwear especially when working out at the gym.
The moral for me was to stay away from thongs in these colours, or at least be careful to check if they become see through when wet, let alone if they are see through even dry.

Getting away from the creepiness of flashing 13 year olds and back to the topic of sheer when wet swimwear; I think there is a time and place for those who want to wear see-thru suits. My wife wears transparent WW and Malibu Strings thongs and tops at beaches we frequent but mainly for me. If another male or female adult passes by and sees her, so be it; we don't mind. She is however quick to cover up on a public beach should children venture too close. 

I'm the bigger exhibitionist out of the two of us so I finally took the plunge (literally) and wore a sheer white Joe Snyder bikini (not a thong though) to the beach last week. I knew it was see-thru when wet so after my first swim, I tried to keep my distance from others as I strolled back to our towels. It was such a rush; even more than going nude at a nude resort. I got quite a bit of attention that day from ladies nearby and my wife loved every minute of it as much as I.

I saw the pics on flickr. You look great. I don't do beaches partly because I'm lazy and also because I know old fat guys in a g-string don't help the cause. Don't worry about 13 year olds. Their hormones are so crazy that a see though thong  or naked won't make much difference. With the internet, I VERY much doubt you could shock a kid anymore.

 not heading to the beach because of laziness.....  I understand because sometimes life is too complicated or the beach is not accessible enough.I don't think it's fair that a person wouldn't go to the beach because he/she s too thin, or too fat, or too old or too anything, and that 'anything' doesn't help the g-string cause.The g-string cause is far more affected by people 'in good shape' who behave in a weird way in public, wearing suits that are not appropriate, showing sexual behaviour in public  or hiding in suspicious ways.
The ultimate benefit of wearing a g-string in public, as in a chain effect, is the incentive it may give to try to match that piece of clothing, with a healthier body image.  It may be to shave or wax regularly, to exfoliate the skin, to drink more water to keep skin hydrated,  to keep muscular tone, to minimise body fat, to eat better, to sleep enough hours, to mositurise the skin, etc.   To be and to look the healthiest one can be.

So essentially you guys just have some type of prejudice against semi-transparent or sheer when wet thongs. 

My intention was NOT to "flash" or "shock" her. In fact I didn't even see her until she came up from under a wave about 15 feet in front of me. And of course I cannot be held responsible for HER reaction. In fact all the other people who were around had no problems at all with what I was wearing and it was perfectly legal. Under the law where I was wearing that type of thong is perfectly legal so calling it "flashing" is utter nonsense. If you don't know the difference between the outline of a penis and exposure of the penis itself then you're an idiot. And nobody said the suit was "transparent", it was only sheer when wet (fit tight when wet so outline of unit showed).

I don't think anyone said they had specific problem with your attire.  I think the problem was, while it may not have been your intention to "flash" or "shock" her, the fact that you thought is was a good experience that you had flashed/shocked a 13 yo is where most of us have a problem with you.

Please advise me what wrong conclusion we came up with?  Per your original post you thought it was a good experience to shock/flash a 13 yo by showing here the outline of your penis.  Explain to me how that would constitute a good experience, because in my "prejudical" book flashing 13 yo girls, at any age isn't a good experience.  But again I'm just a big old prejudice thonger.

The "great experience" had more to do with the fact that she didn't judge me or say anything negative about what I was wearing... it had nothing to do with "flashing" her (which I most certainly DID NOT do). This whole "flashing" nonsense is the wrong conclusion you have come up with. This may be because of some type of misunderstanding about what kind of suit I was wearing. As you probably know there are different types of sheerness and you might be thinking of complete transparency when in fact the suit was more "slightly sheer when wet"... or the equivalent of wearing a suit without a pouch liner. 

Soooo in summary:

I never said she was 13. I said a "young girl". Upon reflection she was probably more like 15-17. I can only guess her age. She might have been older and just looked younger, I don't know. 

The "flashing" accusation is completely unfounded and quite frankly just ridiculous. 

The suit was slightly sheer when wet. It was not completely transparent. It was like wearing a thong without a liner. 

I cannot be held responsible for other people's reactions, especially people I don't even see until the last minute.  

The "great experience" was the fact that she did not judge what I was wearing, not getting a kick from "flashing" somebody as you have so incorrectly and sickly concluded. 

Nobody said you were a "big old prejudice thonger". What was said is that the negative comments reflect a particular prejudice against those who wear semi-transparent/sheer thongs. It makes me wonder if you can even understand the most simple of information.

have enjoyed wearing the sheer when wet suits.have worn them in singapore at the four seasons and also in thailand. they were the js type. like rthe previous writers said did not realise they would b seethru,especially the bright colors like orange and yellow.later got used to it and started enjoying them. bought a lot of marcouest(since closed down i guess) parachute material whit and blue both as a thong and loose boxer types.the parachute material really clings to the body giving it a ver sensous and sexy look,as also a see thru look. totally facinating and when my boyfriend wore it and swamdrove  me wild with de.....
at thaialnd ,all hotels and ingoa and also in malaysia nobody really cared about me penis showing or it was see thru. most of thepool boysand girls would smile and want to serve us more often then others.. anyone else had such experiences with parachute material thongs or g strings????

And you actually did say she was 13 or 14 in your original post.  And while you can't be held responsible for others reactions, you are held responsible for your actions around others.  And standing in front of a minor in a thong that you know is "semi  transparent" and trying to talk to them is an action you are responsible for.  Seriously dude, you knew the suit was semi transparent when it was wet and you stood in front of her and tried to talk with a minor.  Sounds like flashing to me since you were aware that the suit was semi transparent and you stood there in front of her trying to chat her up, which she didn't want to chat with you.  What kind of non prejudice reaction should we have to your suit?

I know if I'm wearing a semi transparent suit on the beach, and someone comes near me, let alone a minor, I try to distance myself so as not to knowingly flash them.

 Just received a Sheer Skinz Stuffit with the flame pattern.  I wore it to Woods Cove in Laguna the other day and the beach was very empty.  My question is, do I wear this, or any other sheer G on the beaches here in SoCal or reserve them for the back yard?  I'd like to wear them in public, but don't know the rules, if there are any.

 As a general rule, on a nude beach you can wear anything you like, or nothing.  However on a public beach where nudity is not allowed, wear a thong that is not see-through or transparent.  If your thong is transparent or see-through the law considers you to be nude and you most likley risk arrest if the police or rangers are called.

Based on user photos here and flickr, I would say sheer swimwear is quite popular. I tend to believe that when worn with discretion, sheer swimwear can be worn on a public beach. Obviously that means not amongst families and folks not used to seeing skimpy dressed or nude beachgoers. Most of my wife's Malibu Strings and WW suits are sheer when wet - she wears them to most beaches we frequent. Most of my thongs and bikinis show an outline of my penis when wet or dry as well so she has encotraged me to wear more white bikinis at the beach this summer. I just got a new one by Andrew Christian I plan to wear to the beach soon.

I wear my sheer white Rio only at swinger functions (on public waters). I reserve my Rio semi-sheer for public venues, and my G-string for the few places it's accepted.

I have some strings and thongs made of mesh fabric. But with printed pattern it is not see-thru at all. But the feeling is very airy. I have quite some strings in light colours that will be slightly see-thru when wet. When leaving the water it will take a few minutes to dry up and the fun is over. So I like to plan my movements when leaving the water to not offend people but sometimes I'm surprised by a jogger. In those few instances I never had a negative remark but a smile now and then. But I'm speaking of the beaches of Europe.

This seems an interesting question - will others see a sheer thong/string pretty much the same as any thong/string (not counting poser or extreme suits). Let's assume we're talking something like a 1/2" side thong, like a Muscleskins.
My experiment will be to wear one on a beach walk at Byron Bay the next time I'm there, and look at reactions. I think there would be no problem getting away with it there. 
My guess is reaction will be about the same...now it's a matter of getting back up there again...!!!

Thongmad, the reaction will depend on which of Byron's beaches you decide to do your walk. Main beach, Wategos Beach or Clarkes Beach you'll probably raise a couple of eyebrows in a thong - see-thru or otherwise. At Tallows Beach, the local surf crew are probably going to concentrate more on the next set rather than what you are wearing.

At Tyagarah and Belongil you'll get a few looks because you're over dressed.

Once we went to a swimming pool with the children. Adjacent there was a playing ground, also accessible for non-swimmers. My wife and the girls went there and I was to join them after a while. As I was about to enter the place I realized I was wearing a white micro thong, transparent when dry, practically invisible when wet and wet it was! I wouldn't think this dress was appropriate for the playing ground but decided to enter it like that anyway, somewhere between curious and apprehensive of what would happen (nice feeling). Well, within a few yards I ran into a couple. She punched her friend in his belly and said in a very loud voice: Would I like it you could wear something like that AND dare it!

You will understand this double compliment made my day. Still chuckle when remembering it.

 Well, I've started wearing both my shear rio backs in very public places...in MN! No negative comments yet :) I actually wear my skimpiest red one the most. Bend over, and it shows more than a thong anyway, and the front shows everything! Very little fabric to it. Pools I wear my organge, semi-see thru, slightly more coverage than my red one, but I think when wet, it may be more sheer than the skimpier one!

 I have some suits that are extremely form fitting and brief, so it is like having a second skin.  I wore this suit in Rio and really got off on it and having everyone be able to see my bulge without any skin showing.  It was a real turn on for me and the Cariocas seemed perfectly accepting.  I can't wait to go back.

My wife and I feel just as Sharon said above. While my wife has been wearing sheer thongs and tops in public, I have not. She suggested I wear bikinis more this summer that cover my bum some :( However she also said she wants me to wear suits that show more bulge :) Turns out that is her favorite look on me and other guys. So I said if I have to wear bikinis with rear coverage, I'm going to wear sheer. Yesterday, I wore a new white Andrew Christian bikini to the beach and she wore a light pink WW suit. What a rush!

 Funny story.
About 10 yrs ago, we went to a CO beach in jamaica, but she was still a a little shy, so she decided she would go topfree and i would wear a thong. I had a new "Beach Head" thong, which was sortof silver grey, double strap rear, but it was very narrow in front, and had an inner sleeve to keep me pointed straight up against your tummy... pretty racy back then... anyway, for drinks, I had to go back to the poolbar, which was mabe 150' away, but not CO, so it worked out. we got lounges set up, and i went for drinks. the regular bar was busy so i went to the swim up bar, got drinks and went back to the beach. Seems i got a LOT more looks on the way back to the beach. Apparently, when wet, this suit was PERFECTLY see thru, LOL, and perfectly displayed! LOL we had fun that day, even ended up in some brides wedding album LOL

 Just got a Skinz Bravara Thong in Wavey Lacey (black) OMG, it's so naughty without even getting close to water. Doubt I would wear it around others (public if crowded or folks gonna be close by) but would consider semi-secluded / not so crowded places. You can't see too much unless you are less than 15-20 feet away.

I bought an Asics sheer suit a few months ago. It's fairly opaque from a distance when dry but totally see through when wet. You have to be a bit careful about where you wear it but if you stay away from family beaches or the family parts of beaches it's pretty cool.
I was a bit nervous at first but after a couple of days at the beach I was fine going anywhere in them.

I got a lot of stares though, mostly appreciative.


It was pricey but well worth it. I took the lining out of mine so it shows pretty much everything.

Thank you underguy for finding that website. I have lots of Asics swimsuits from my lap swimming days in Japan. They last forever and the quality is amazing.

I ordered a couple of suits for my husband. Although he has not worn them in public yet, the times in our private pool has proved that the fit is spot on and the Hydro CD fabric is transparent if you think about water. I have not cut the lining out of his suits yet but I might. Imagine those sheer when wet Aussiebum briefs but with a more performance oriented material.

I am happy have finally replaced some of my older Asics suits with those racy transparent ones. I had a transparent Asics one piece which lasted five years. Other than some busted seams, they're still snug.

I've just spent 2 weeks in Cairns where I got plenty of time wearing my Asics suit on the beach and in the motel pool. Had no real negative reactions and was asked twice where I'd bought it. Once on Trinity beach by an American woman who had a WW sheer thong but hadn't been game to wear it in public.
She took a pic of me coming out of the water on her phone and the suit looked even sheerer than I'd thought. There were a few guys around in the semi sheer Aussiebums but I really don't like the cut, too loose and baggy.
I love the sheer Asics one pieces for women. Wish I could join you and your husband in your pool.

It sounds like she did not ask you to change, just wanted you to know the seat was a bit transparent. I think she was just trying to be helpful. Your mistake was pretending to be surprised, because then you had to pretend to care and went back to change. You could have used the old swimmers excuse, "Yes, they are getting a bit thin, I think it's the pool chlorine." Since you were there to do your laps, once you are in the pool I doubt anyone would have noticed.

I had gotten some looks, but no comments. These were just off-brand cheapies that were not intended to be transparent. I now have a DMK Hawiian brief that is intended to be transparent in front, both wet and dry, but I don't wear it just anywhere.

WHile the difference is subtle in the construction, it is extensive when you put the suits on. The poser kinda balls things up and you can make out the faint outline of whats underneath. The topedo puts it right out there and leaves almost nothing to the imagination. That is why I am pretty concious of when and where I wear each. I have no issue thonging on public beaches in the poser. While it is easily the smallest suit any man is wearing, it is still appropriate because you cant see anything (other than the fact that I am completely hairless down there...LoL). I reserve the torpedo only for Gunnison beach (or if I happen to be at some other clothing optional/nude beach). It shows absolutely everything. If you use the darker fabrics, you get a complete outline of everything, right down to the rim on your head. If you use the lighter fabrics (i.e yellow, pink, tan, or any of the mesh materials) it is effectlively the same as painting yourself that color....LoL. I would never wear the torpedo on a public beach, even south beach as I feel that most people who are at a public beach are not there to see a mans private parts.

I could get away with it because there wasn't anyone around and it was a week day. Besides, darker colours always look better on my skin. I sat down on my towel to dry, and a few minutes later I looked and it still was completely see through.Only then I realised that the spandex had become old, (lycra has a "use by date" and it's specially true for non dark colours), and this thong had reached it's due date.Luckily only very few people might have noticed it, and it wasn't a very nice experience for me, felt a bit like a flasher which I'm not.Never wore that suit again, I only wear it now as underwear especially when working out at the gym. The moral for me was to stay away from thongs in these colours, or at least be careful to check if they become see through when wet, let alone if they are see through even dry. JH

However on a public beach where nudity is not allowed, wear a thong that is not see-through or transparent. If your thong is transparent or see-through the law considers you to be nude and you most likley risk arrest if the police or rangers are called.

I tend to believe that when worn with discretion, sheer swimwear can be worn on a public beach. Obviously that means not amongst families and folks not used to seeing skimpy dressed or nude beachgoers. Most of my wife's Malibu Strings and WW suits are sheer when wet - she wears them to most beaches we frequent. Most of my thongs and bikinis show an outline of my penis when wet or dry as well so she has encotraged me to wear more white bikinis at the beach this summer. I just got a new one by Andrew Christian I plan to wear to the beach soon.

I had a new "Beach Head" thong, which was sortof silver grey, double strap rear, but it was very narrow in front, and had an inner sleeve to keep me pointed straight up against your tummy... pretty racy back then... anyway, for drinks, I had to go back to the poolbar, which was mabe 150' away, but not CO, so it worked out. we got lounges set up, and i went for drinks. the regular bar was busy so i went to the swim up bar, got drinks and went back to the beach. Seems i got a LOT more looks on the way back to the beach. Apparently, when wet, this suit was PERFECTLY see thru, LOL, and perfectly displayed! LOL we had fun that day, even ended up in some brides wedding album LOL

Doubt I would wear it around others (public if crowded or folks gonna be close by) but would consider semi-secluded / not so crowded places. You can't see too much unless you are less than 15-20 feet away.

It's fairly opaque from a distance when dry but totally see through when wet. You have to be a bit careful about where you wear it but if you stay away from family beaches or the family parts of beaches it's pretty cool. I was a bit nervous at first but after a couple of days at the beach I was fine going anywhere in them. I got a lot of stares though, mostly appreciative. It was pricey but well worth it. I took the lining out of mine so it shows pretty much everything. I bought it here http://www.jpnswimming.net/product-list/69. Really good service and fast delivery. I bought the white with gold logo.

They last forever and the quality is amazing. I ordered a couple of suits for my husband. Although he has not worn them in public yet, the times in our private pool has proved that the fit is spot on and the Hydro CD fabric is transparent if you think about water. I have not cut the lining out of his suits yet but I might. Imagine those sheer when wet Aussiebum briefs but with a more performance oriented material. I am happy have finally replaced some of my older Asics suits with those racy transparent ones. I had a transparent Asics one piece which lasted five years. Other than some busted seams, they're still snug. Love them. Love Bren

Had no real negative reactions and was asked twice where I'd bought it. Once on Trinity beach by an American woman who had a WW sheer thong but hadn't been game to wear it in public. She took a pic of me coming out of the water on her phone and the suit looked even sheerer than I'd thought. There were a few guys around in the semi sheer Aussiebums but I really don't like the cut, too loose and baggy. I love the sheer Asics one pieces for women.
