Re:SkinzWear.com - Skinz Wear - Florida

Like many of you I have been a long time Skinzwear customer. I’ve been to the store a few times and had great experiences. Most of my purchases over the year have been on line. I love their gear, but now the price makes me say ow. I was never a fan of their shipping price but I bit it and paid when I really wanted something. As I attempt to navigate the new site and marvel at the price increase I am left with the feeling that I may not be ordering anything from Skinzwear any time soon or ever. There are so many swimwear companies that make quality swimwear at better price points now. It is a bit sad. I had hoped that the little shop out of Clearwater, Florida would be an easy transition to the new ownership. Still, if I am back in Clearwater I will stop in and see what they have. Unfortunately my online ordering will be suspended for the time being with the hope thy can get their site more functional and offer some real sales.

I found that Jovana here in the UK jacked up their prices beyond reasonable Result: nil more orders from me

The high shipping rates is exactly why I don’t order from Skinzwear anymore, despite I like their suits very much….A swimsuits weighs next to nothing and sure some paperwork has to be done. But shipping costs that almost double the price of a thong? No thanks. Jovana’s prices I find way too high. Fortunately there are lots of shops having more reasonable prices and shipping rates.

I live not far from the store and yes the prices have gone way up. They used to have a sale rack for items with irregular stitching or discontinued items that were $10-20. The “sale” rack now has nothing under $27. I will only go back if I am looking for something specific and will take good care of the suits I have now.

Love their suits, hate their pricing, especially with the elimination of “on sale” category on their website. Also, I agree that shipping price seems excessive. Therefore: increased list price+no sale merchandise+excessive shipping cost=examine Chinese alternatives. As a US resident, I try to buy American, but Skinz has taken costs too far.

I agree with butterball21044: look for other suppliers. I’m not a hughe fan of Chinese products, but Japanese and Taiwanese are also good alternatives for the over-expensive USA and European companies.
Speaking about shipping: shipping one single string from USA to Europe is $29. The weight of a string is maybe 50 grams. It fits in a small envelope.
At iSwim I pay less then $10 for shipping 4 strings.

While I agree that their S&H prices are high for what is being shipped, they are shipping via FedEx which is part of the reason. They aren't Amazon Delivery. As far as the prices, I checked and a M55U Stuff-It g-string is $39 + $9.75 shipping. I have receipts in my email from buying this same suit in 2013 and the price + shipping was exactly the same.

I have found some decent thongs on Temu for under $5. I like the skinzwear super stretch material but I can get multiple suits for less than the price of one at Skinzwear. They may end up lowering prices if the sales drop off significantly.

Yes, their new website is still a nightmare to navigate. I can't imagine how they approved such a disaster. You can't pick a style and find all the fabrics/colors available in that style anymore. You can't pick a fabric and find all the suits currently available anymore. Sometimes you sort-of can, but mostly you cannot. You search for a suit and get a large group -- initially, you see the item number & description, but once you click through the different ones, the item number & description do not update. If you click the little boxes of the fabrics, it SOMETIMES updates, but if you click the images off to the left, it does not update. It takes, literally, hours to do what used to be easily accomplished in 10 or 15 minutes. The style guide is gone. They've slightly changed some of the styles, too. And the prices are outrageous. For very similar suits & styles, what all used to be $24, then $27, then $29, then $39.... are now $39, $49, or $59 with no logic, rhyme or reason... other than gouging our wallets.

It's always been "funny" to me how they ILLEGALLY sign the cash register receipt for mail orders. Yep, it is illegal... but not really a big issue to me. As far as shipping prices go... someone mentioned weight... well, there is a minimum charge for FedEx, so it really has nothing to do with the weight. Anyway, I wish they'd offer different shipping services. I've never in my life had any issues with USPS. I have had issues with DHL, FedEx, and UPS; but not many. Once, FedEx delivered a LAPTOP to the wrong address.... 10+ miles away; same city name, different zip code, totally different street name, totally different house number, totally different last name --- the person who received said they tried to contact FedEx to pick it up and re-deliver it but they were getting hassled so bad; they told FedEx to forget it and that they could have already delivered it (to me) in less time than they had spent on the phone. So, they did just that.

I have some Skinzwear thongs. Mostly bought years ago when there was a particular color/pattern I liked. A few bought second hand from e-bay. Mostly the smaller G-string type, stuffit, M1R2 etc. There are very few of the current fabric patterns I really like, although I do like the "Technicolor". But $59 for a Technicolor stuffit is outrageous. Not to mention the claim that their tan through fabric has "tiny holes that help blockout UV-B but lets in tanning UV-A rays." That's not how light or physics works. These days I tend to buy from AliExpress or Temu and then whip out my sewing machine if I think they need altering or embellishing. Maybe the fabrics are not as tough or exotic, but the price is a LOT less and the shipping is free or very low cost.

I decided to hop on one of the sale items an M77 in Artic Camo. I've actually LOST weight since COVID started unlike the majority of Americans. But the size L is like a size M (on the small side of that too). In fact I still have some of my first ones that were indeed size M and they fit better than the new size L. Unreal. Talk about going to H in a handbasket. So, their sizing has gone to absolute rubbish at the same time their prices have skyrocketed!!!! Pricing. I was just flipping through the M77 and was like...hmmm, wonder what the "neon green" price is...49 bucks!!!!!!!!!!! For a color they've had for years!!! Flip to another color...39 bucks...where the heck is the logic on fabric pricing? You want a new color....49 or 59 bucks!!!!!!!!!! And that's if you can actually find a new color...of which I think there have been 2 solids, 2 mesh (a 3rd seems to be there but not listed), and 1 metallic this year - hardly the "exciting new fabrics" that was talked about in early January. Speaking of fabrics. I contacted them about a fabric I saw on a woman's suit not listed in the "fabrics" section. "I'll have to ask the owner, not sure if we sell it by itself or not and what the fabric code is." HONESTLY!!!! C'mon...know your business and everything doesn't or shouldn't have to go through the obviously micromanaging new owner. This new woman owner has ZERO clue about the business and what her clientele is all about. Seems she's going to try to make a fortune instantly. I'm sure Paul made a nice living; but I don't think he got rich in a year. After my gift certificates are gone, I'm out - probably time anyway. I'll have a seamstress make some with the SAME fabric they buy that you can buy off of ETSY (minus the super skinzwear and the Italian fabrics) if I have a dire need to have something new. I'm also wondering if Tanya is still there; because the emails are answered by Suzanne. I feel sorry for Tanya as if she's still there (maybe she's not) as I'm feeling that her life has become miserable under the new ownership. If I didn't think I'd run afoul of the rules, I'd post the new ownership information.

Oh, I didn't know they had a new owner... that explains a lot. I'm going to write to them right now to ask that they delete my account and all of my personal information. Not only are their prices outrageous, they are not consistent at all. This suit is $39 and the exact same suit in the same type of fabric but just a different color is $59. Regular suits are $59 or $69 which have been the base price (now $39) for years.... nothing makes sense. On top of that, their website is a nightmare to navigate. Yes, I know how to do this... nothing there is logical. I can click on fabrics, see them listed, but there is no function to list all of the suits now available in that fabric. That's a minor thing, but it is just one example of the problems. Look up a suit and see 45 options... but then you try to search for one style or material and you still get a mixed pile of crap of results. I'm not going to bother to describe it... it just takes hours to try to find stuff which used to take a couple of minutes. All the regular suits I want of the same type I used to get are all $59 or $69, not $39. Anyway, I kept trying, I'm just done with it. I know I've complained here before. Oh well... they had to work very hard to make the site so bad. Ok, my rant is over. I'll try not to mention them again. It just pains me because they've had my favorite suits for years.

I used to get all of my suits from Skinz as I really like the styles and selections. I was quite diusappointed when they jacked up their prices as well. It does look like they have suits on sale again fianlly. I thjink their business must have dropped off and they need to get their pricing back to reality. I will keep buying the M77 and M67 styles as long as they are on sale. I would ate to see them go under by being too greedy. If they keep their same prices they will do well as they make great suits in my opinion.

Re:SkinzWear.com - Skinz Wear - Florida

In 2021 you could get most suits for 32 bucks (mens) and womens bottoms/tops were about the same. Today, it's 39 bucks. IF, and this is a big one, IF they have it in stock. If it's not in stock, you get a $10 surcharge whereas in the past, so long as it was listed as available, but not it stock, it was still same price. Last two years it went from 32 to 37 per suit. Which really is about $1 year raised up since 2020, so really not too bad once I ran the math (5 year avg). However, what floors me...there are some suits for 29.00, some for 29.25 and all over the place. HOW does one (aka Skinzwear) determine if it's 29.00 or 29.25??!! Had I not been given some gift certs I'd stay away until their pricing gets fixed....as well as sizing. I did grab one on sale (L) and it's the size of a freaking (M) 10 years ago. Yes, some styles run small; but recently their sizing has been way off too despite supposedly being LASER cut. And, as bad as men's stuff is, the women's suits are insanely expensive now. Was looking for my other half and I'm like...just keep buying where you like because the pricing is even more haphazard. I think the funniest raise in price is the running shorts..29 bucks to 31 bucks (but reality is none are really available so they're all 51 bucks!!). So the M.O. seems to be advertise we have this; but then make people custom make it so we get 49 bucks instead of 39 bucks. I saw this early on with some new fabrics...nothing in stock, get on the list now to have yours made. The new owner also owns Noka Posh which makes costumes and such. I think she wants to be an order only and nothing in stock type store...which is fine; but get the sizing and pricing in order!! If they read this...come on folks....don't destroy a good brand in < 1 year. Hire a real web developer and somebody who can tie into a database. Forget using "shop" to bail you out of pricing. Fire anybody associated with the abomination of pricing & website (my guess is that a relative designed it). As for going under because getting too greedy. It happens ever day when somebody buys and existing company out (due to retirement in particular) and thinks they can start milking the faithful. I saw this when one of my uncles retired and sold his business. The new buyer destroyed it within 1 year - ignoring long-time customers and jacking up prices to pay for the purchase.

I recently visited the store in Clearwater to check out the thongs and g-strings. I was interested in the M55 and M77 styles. I liked both styles, but the pouch on the M55 g-string was a bit small on me. Too much was revealed on the sides. I wouldn't mind wearing such a suit in public, but I don't have any places near me where I could have worn it without issues. It's a suit I could probably only wear at South Beach. It didn't make sense to buy a suit I would hardly get to wear outside. Now for the M77 thong, it was almost perfect. I liked it better than the M55 because the pouch covered more and the side and center straps on this thong would be more acceptable at the venues I frequently visit. The only issue I had is the pouch covered a bit more than I was used to with my Cocksox CX22 swim thongs. I like my thongs to perfectly cradle everything with just enough coverage, hold everything away from my body, but not with any torpedo, projectile effect. I love the pouch on my Cocksox CX22 swim thongs but don't like the "whale tail" back. I wish it was more of a small triangle like on the Skinzwear M77 thongs. After trying on several different suit styles with different fabrics, I decided to give Skinzwear a try by ordering a custom suit. The seamstress, and others, really worked with me after I modeled my Cocksox CX22 suit in the store. I showed them what I like and don't like in suit. I even offered to let them use my Cocksox suit as a pattern but they didn’t need it. The Skinzwear suit is a custom M77 thong with the standard side straps and center straps, but with a custom pouch modeled after the Cocksox CX22 swim thong. I asked her to make the pouch similar, but with a slightly less "projection" that Cocksox is famous for. The suit arrived yesterday and it fits perfectly. Now that I have my custom M77 pattern on file, I can order the same suit in other fabrics as I continue my collection. I did have to pay a pattern fee for the custom suit and the suit itself is more expensive than the Cocksox suits. However, I splurged on this suit because I was in the area and felt I had to take advantage of being able to discuss a perfect suit, in person, with the actual seamstress who was going to make the suit. I felt I would have wasted more money buying other suits online, not liking them, and not being able to return them. I suit arrived yesterday and it fits perfectly. I can’t wait to wear it this summer. I think as my Cocksox CX22 swim thongs wear out, I will consider ordering more custom M77's from Skinzwear. An added bonus is I can order the suits in several different fabrics, including the Solids, Mesh, Thin Skinz, and Super Thin Skinz fabrics. I would have no issues wearing these more revealing fabrics to a pool or the beach where they would be acceptable. I just need to be realistic and only order what I can legally wear most of the time because of where I live. If only I could move to or visit South Florida every month so I can wear these suits year-round. :)

Dang that's crazy to hear as I had asked in store back in early 2024 and was told "custom" only meant ordering suits in a fabric that wasn't in stock or otherwise normally offered and everything is sewn based on a premade cut pattern

I had asked if I could get bikinis and thongs with a slightly longer back as my ass is well above average which often means I'm either hanging my crack out or I'm robbing material meant for the front to help cover the rear which in turn smashes things down in the front. This is not an issue only with skinz products but pretty much underwear in general.

Skizwear is now under new ownership. Because of this, I believe fully custom suits are now available. They were very accommodating to me when I was in the store. I already received my first suit, and it is almost perfect. I requested a minor modification to eliminate some puckering I don't like. I am anxiously awaiting my second suit with these modifications. If it fits as I hope, I will be ordering more in different fabrics. I will also be ordering some suits in the thin, super thin, and mesh fabrics. I look forward to wearing these suits on future visits to South Florida. I would suggest giving Skinzwear a try. Yes, they are a bit more expensive than the suits available from various other online retailers, but I would rather pay more for suits that fit me perfectly than for less expensive suits I won't be happy with or will "melt" with the first contact of chlorine. As my suits fade or stretch out, I will wear them in chlorinated pools and hot tubs. A lot of my suits last a long time because they are hand washed, air dried, and mostly worn for suntanning or beach activities. I have also given up on wearing cotton briefs and thongs as underwear. I exclusively wear swimsuit briefs and thongs daily as underwear. I just wish I lived closer to the beach so my briefs and thongs would become my primary wardrobe as I start to head into retirement. :)

I got the Skinzwear M99 one piece thong for use as a thong bodysuit to go with my short shorts and miniskirts. Skinz is more expensive than similar products elsewhere, but the item I got is well made, fits perfectly, and has the exact fabric and color I wanted. The Skinz items I've bought in the past last a long time. Plus, I found a coupon code to use for a lower price.

Skinzwear M54 Rio . I just purchased an M54 Rio. As with all Skinzwear products it is well made from quality material. I wanted a suit with a cheeky back and narrow sides. The cut of the rear is very good although I am happy with a back that is a bit less coverage. I am disappointed with the front. It is fairly flat and presses my genitalia too much. I prefer a pouch that is a more natural fit. Can anyone recommend a Skinzwear suit style that is a cheeky rear and a front more like the M77?

See my post #969. Skinzwear will make anything you want. If you ever get a chance to go to the store, take a suit similar to what you are looking for and also try on one of their suits. Model them in front of the seamstress and point out the features you like on each suit. Once they have your custom pattern on file, you can order additional suits in many different fabrics.

I recently paid my first visit to the store and was impressed with most of what I found. High points include a welcoming, no rush atmosphere, friendly excellent service, and a wide selection of stock suits in most styles and fabrics. They have a large board with samples of all their fabrics, and of course you can select any suit in any fabric. The only low points I'd mention are pricing, which has been sufficiently covered in multiple previous posts, and leadtime of 4 weeks for custom orders. I probably spent a good hour and a half in the store, trying on more suits than I can count to help the seamstress come up with the right custom pattern for my body. I also brought in a suit that has a good pouch size that they will use in making a custom M55, since I didn't care for the stock M55 pouch shape. I also selected an M73U. Regarding shipping, they are charging $9.95 to ship 2 suits, 1 pair of cover-up shorts, and the suit I left for them to help with customization. Susanne was very helpful during the entire visit, as was the seamstress (misplaced her name!), who made me feel like I was their only customer though I wasn't. Finally, I thought the PEP feature was odd, and agree with @theman21.

I wish I was close enough to make a drive to the store. I have to rely on shipping. The M94 was a surprise this year as I liked the M25 style but wanted a smaller pouch. Now if the pouch size was closer to the M77, I'd have my new favorite thong. Comparing the two there is a difference although they both are marketed as "Stuffit" pouches.

We used to live about 10 min from the Skinz store and I would go in on occasion to see what was on the "sale" racks. I bought a few things through the years but there were always two problems: Price, of course, and the fact that the pouches are all to small for the "boys." Needing a custom pouch, I get all my thongs from Fireboy now with custom made pouches to fit the boys. Excellent quality. Reasonable prices. I get some of the "tamer" thongs and not the "out there" ones. Elle wears mostly Brigitewear one piece thongs...some a little risque (see through). The Skinz suits just don't suit her ;) Bunz

If you get up close or are standing where it is back lit, then you can see the outline of my cock. I’ve worn it on beach where people are spread out with no issue. The M55 I have is just an adequate pouch and very narrow strings so my ass is completely exposed. I think that is more revealing and noticeable than the mesh fabric pouch.

@greenstringer It depends on the type of mesh you get. The athletic mesh is a fairly dense knit, so it is not see-through unless you are close up. I have the sea mist green M55, which is a light, thin color. While it is fairly opaque, you can still see the outline of the glans even when the suit is dry. When wet, the outline and some veins are visible. Depending on the beach, it should be fine, but I personally prefer wearing it at quieter spots.

The m94 suit is a great addition they had this year I love it i thought about getting a suit in the rose gold (which is basically skin tone color mesh with a shimmery look mesh] with lime green strings or the 1502 chartreuse the 1502 is basically 99 % see thru I want to try it but it might be pushing it in any public setting.
