I have just returned from staying at the Hilton by the Madrid Airport for a couple of nights on business. The hotel has an indoor pool but the roof is moveable, so it can be outdoors for the warmer times. Late April is still too cold for outdoor pools. The pool open hours used to be between 4pm and 8pm only, however it is now open to guests between 8am and 10pm. It has a bit of an odd set-up, in that the only way into the pool area is through the overlooking gym via sliding glass doors. There are no separate changing rooms and the only male changing room is really small (space for two?), sharing with the gym users and the sauna room door, with single shower. The only notable rules are "appropriate swimwear" and showering before entering the pool. (But I have lost count over the number of times the latter is ignored by the baggy shorts brigade in particular).

My time there only represented a small window and it may not be typical. I only managed a couple of hours on day one and the whole evening period on day two.

There was only one male thong wearer (me - in a Skinz wear custom and Body Art string sided thong, both bought some time ago) and rather disappointingly only one female in a thong bikini. I probably only saw two speedo style briefs, one short square cut style, a couple of tighter fitting shorts (may have been swim jammers) and way too many baggy shorts. About four people wore swim caps (including me with both M/F).

The lady in the string sided thong bikini looked amazing. It was purple with yellow edges and yellow strings The top had triangular shaped cups. I am pretty sure it was a Wicked Weasel brand but it had a modest coverage on the front.  She came in with her partner, wearing a white robe and did not waste much time before taking the robe off. She was probably European but of African origin, her man was white caucasian. She also wasted no time in taking some selfies on her phone and having a kiss and cuddle. They did not stay long (20mins?), leaving after another guy came in. She probably swam barely a length of the pool. They did not appear to be at all bothered by me swimming up and down in thong. They must have noticed since the pool was well lit and easy to see into when standing. The baggy short lot missed the show. 

I kept it as discreet as possible when out the water, covering with a towel or robe quickly, but did not have any comments or stares from the ladies that I noticed. (I'm slowly getting more confident but not totally care free yet). There was plenty of camera phones being used whilst sitting on the set of reclined chairs poolside, but if anyone did grab a photo they did so discreetly. One guy seemed to be staring for while but later lost interest, no comments from anyone. Only one gent was friendly but did not say much.

The gym machines were being used heavily (more than the pool) both days, early evening, but it got more relaxed later on. The women mostly wore leggings. Only two were very into their fitness but they did not use the pool.

One younger female came in (wearing a normal beige swimsuit under a robe) and sat poolside two chairs away whilst I was waiting for a chinese guy to finish swimming. (There is not much space since the pool has seats and a water jet thing right in the middle). Anyway, she sat around for ages on her phone, then three other guys came in to swim (joining me) so there was no more space and only about an hour left before 10pm, so she left without getting wet.

Clearly, there is much work to be done to get all the thongs that are sold out of the closet or drawer and into the travel case! Overall, thumbs up for this place, but perhaps spend more to get an upgraded bigger room, since there was stupid locked doors between the rooms that carries noise from your inconsiderate neighbour.
