There were no thongs anywhere but bikinis were the norm for most women. The state park might be the place to wear a thong or even go topfree. At this time of year the beach was not crowded at all so you might not have a problem. However, there is a lot of families there so discretion might be needed. Divenhike2002

Im planning on thonging in the state park (bay side might be necessary) or getting a kayak and boating over to little st george. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm pretty sure thonging is legal (alcohol is not at the park).

I went to the State Park and allthough the access is not the greatest due to the hurricane it was open. There were not that many people there and I had no problems. It it not the greatest place to people watch but a good place to work on the tan.

We recently moved from the Clearwater area to Lake City (N central FL) and was interested to see where the closest thong beach was. I was looking at SGI and also Bald Point State Parks. I know that FL state parks are technically "no thongs" but we have thonged at some of them successfully. Both beaches seem long and uncrowded enough to get away with our thongs, but have a coverup handy. We're thinking of a day trip to scope things out, and we do have a little Boston Whaler beach boat (for calm waters) for a subsequent trip. That way we may be able to get to some more remote beaches. Any thoughts or recommendations? Bunz
