Re:The Presence of Children vs. What To Wear? (kids)

I have a few nieces and nephews. They have pretty much grown up seeing me and their mothers wearing thongs (albeit not see-thru) at the beach but funnily enough their grandmother who normally wears thongs with me and her kids, will not wear anything but a conservative swimsuit when the grand kids are around. That said, she has said then when the kids are in their teens, she'll feel comfortable wearing a thong in front of them.
It does help that the kids are, when compared with their friends are really awesome and well adjusted. I really think that their parents have done a great job raising them. I don't think that their attitude to the human body was a great contributor to them being awesome.
My mother on the other hand, will not wear anything other than a conservative one piece even though her Vietnamese genes mean that at 64 years old, she still looks like she is in her late 30s.

MODERATED MY SELF.  I posted this in response to a mention of a beach being invaded in summer by groups of summer camp kids, and then considered it was more appropriate to move it here.....

We get summer camp kids.  We have swim camp who use the exact same bit of beach where I start and end, and the same shower to wash off.  Large groups in different age ranges. The little kids will look with curiosity, and then move on to something more interesting.  Teens will sometimes snigger, but mostly they have no problem.

The issue seems to be with the adults who are their handlers. They are worried about exposing the kids to something.  They might get in trouble if they don't make an issue out of it or do something, or tell the kids to look away.  Mostly, once they see almost all the kids don't care to even look, and the few that do just find a thong curious or amusing, they calm down and life goes on as normal.

Kids are very sensitive to things like creepyness or fear.  If they sense you are fearful they will press the advantage and make loud fun of you, in just the same way they would pick on other kids.  If they sense you are being furtive or creepy they will act like prairie dogs, staring in your direction and sending out high pitched alarms to the rest of the group.  So the way to handle kids is to act perfectly normal.  Smile back if they smile. React just like you were fully dressed - Even when they are in packs at summer camp. Do not react to any heckle, this will just encourage the heckler. Don't show any fear, don't be furtive, don't do anything different.

It does help if you can be with, or talking to, another person. Loan males are automatically scary to the members of a pack.  If the group is going to be sharing the beach for a week or more, so I will be seeing them several times, I try to make friends, or at least become nodding acquaintances with one or more of the group leaders. Sometimes something simple like waking over and handing them a pair of goggles one of their kids left at the shower is enough to start a level of trust. Simple things like returning a blow away towel. The key is to address the adults, not the kids. "Here, one of your kids left this." It shows you are helping the adults out with their job of looking out for the kids, but not looking to make direct contact with any of the kids.

At the beach or public pools I relax in a very brief non-sheer, non-exposure, non-enhancing g-string. If vigorously swimming laps I'll wear a 25mm side brazil back brief over the top, as the g-string can tend to displace. Presence of kids will not make any difference to this. I usually avoid large groups of kids (eg. school sports classes) purely because they are so noisy. If they arrive after I'm there, they also will not affect what I wear.
Kids either ignore me completely or see me as a novelty for a minute or two then forget I'm there. Mums and grandmas with kids don't care what I wear, or if they do, generally manage to do a good job of keeping their view to themselves. Most dads and grandads with kids are the same. Of course there are a minority, invariably older guys who for whatever reason won't like what I wear, who will use the "There are children present" line. Whether they are just expressing their personal belief on swimwear styles, or whether they honestly believe that a brief cossie makes a guy a child molester, I cannot say. These types rarely will engage in intelligent discussion on the subject.

yes, the previous poster was right.  Years ago, when I lived in a Apartment complex in Dania, Florida, I wore my g-string bathings suit for 4 years, no compliants, there were plenty of flight attendents in the mid 91-96 time frame that wore them then that lived there also,  A few families with kids, no problems at all.  I moved out and actually moved back in 2003 after selling my condo and this time, it seem that sentiments had changed.  The custodian there at the time, a ex military man used to constantly harass me regarding kids, So did the management, what a difference from the 90's regarding the kids, I soon bought again and problem resolved, but I got tired of hearing the Kid routine, This could actually be another discussion as thong usage appears to be at a all time low.  This past spring break, wearing my g-string at Hollywood beach, I could have been from Mars.

I have found out over the many years going to the beach wearing a thong or g-string that women with kids will set up very close to me. They don't seem to mind. I noticed this a lot this week in SOBE.

@20897: When I was at Playa del Carmen beach in 2011, I also noticed that a woman with a kid set up right beside me when I was wearing a thong. She could have set up anywhere, but chose to set up right beside me.

I have found women with kids are almost ATTRACTED to thongs.  I've talked to several others and they said the same thing.  The younger kids never notice, and the moms get a lot of male eye candy so to speak.  This has happened to me so many times it has to be deliberate.

I find the same to be true, where women with young kinds tend to setup very close to me. I really can't say why it is but they tend to approach, notice, do a double take then setup 10 feet from me and mind their own business.

Yesterday, I met with a girlfriend for a coffee at our local beach cafe. We were both pleased to see a young mother with a small child in tow wearing a very striking white thong bikini. She was impeccably presented and was obvious that she was not struggling financially. Her au pair or nanny was also a very striking Asian young woman also wearing a thong bikini. Both laid out and enjoyed the last bits of warm weather and water before the arrival of the southern winter.
Her child seemed well adjusted a typical of someone her age. She helped apply sunscreen to her mother and nanny and generally had a great time.
One very interesting tidbit, my girlfriend and I argued that if she wasn't as financially well off would we have seen her in a worse light? There is a saying, it takes lots of money to look cheap, she was a classy lady. If she had rocked a thong, driven a crappy car instead of a Range Rover and smoked and drank, instead of having organic shakes, would we concluded that she was a bad parent?

Showing my personal prejudices, I guess I would tend to come to that conclusion regarding someone smoking and drinking in that situation. The old car and the thong would have nothing to do with it. If anything, both the latter demonstrate an admirable independence from what society deems to be fashionable.

I've also had a mom with a kid or kids set up close to me dozens of times while I was on my towel in only a thong or g-string.  I've even had entire families with the dad along also set up fairly close to me.  A couple of years ago at Hollywood beach, I even had two guys set up near me and they didn't even seem to treat me or react to me as if I was any different than anyone else out there. They were clearly straight... both mid-20's, athletic, and I remember them discussing how the one guy's relationship with his girlfriend was becoming very serious and the other guy was giving him advice on how to proceed. For some reason, I remember this clearly, because they are the exact type who I expected to point and laugh at me.

I have certainly heard versions of the comment "he shouldn't be wearing THAT, there are kids around". The interesting fact is that it has never come from parents with kids and has, to my recollection, always come from single men (easy to ignore). The one time that it was said to my face was by a homeless man who had a few other obvious psychiatric problems.

I go to a beach that is mixed nude/clothed with a large amount of tourists (children included) and the main thing I've noticed is that the kids under 10 or so have generally been completely oblivious. No pointing, laughing, rude questions or behavior. Most of them don't even seem to know that being nude or in minimal swimwear at a beach is an unusual thing to do in America.
Any kids older than that just seem to see it as a novelty.

For how incredibly upset some adults can get about the idea of nudity around children, it really only ever seems like the adults who care in the slightest. Then again, these are probably the same parents that won't take their kids to art museums for the same reason. Seems to me that the only danger posed in the whole situation is the parent's neuroses about it.

I had a very positive recent experience that gives me hope that not all parents have this "its harmful for the kids" attitude.  While on vacation (in the US) I was on my normal afternoon beach walk.  Except it was Saturday and the beach which had been uncrowded all week was now packed.  But, so far, I had only gotten compliments from anybody I passed, so I continued.  In one area with several families, 2 of the women came right over and wanted to take my picture with them.  Nothing unusual here; happens frequently.  But, as we were "posing", one of them called her daughters over to get in the picture, and before I knew it, we were surrounded by 4 or 5 'tween-age girls, all smiles, enjoying it immensely.  The husband simply backed up to get us all in the shot; never saying a word.

Several years back, in the Carribean, I went into one of the beach-side shops.  As soon as the owner saw me, he disappeared, and returned shortly with his wife and 3 or 4 girls, presumably his daughters.  They were all staring at me and muttering in Spanish, but everybody was smiling and enjoying themselves, so obviously no one was offended.  But that was the Carribean, not the US, so its obviously not the same.

As comfortable as I am in a thong or g-string in public, I'm always a little leery of being "too much on display" in front of children.  Where I usually go, there isn't a nude or official thong section, so I made my own by going a good distance down the beach where very few other people lay out.  I generally get lots of people walking past me, but haven't ever gotten a negative comment - in fact they're generally very positive.

It annoys me, though, when I go to an effort to stay as far away as I can from the kids and soccer moms, and somehow...they just seem to gravitate towards me anyway.  If I notice them getting too close, I'll stay on my back.  If they seem friendly or obviously don't care, I'll go back to being thong-side up.  Thus far, no one seems to care, but I always like to be careful and respectful until I know.

Lisa,I have noticed that people, with or without kids, when they see me in a thong - either set up almost on top of me or seeing me leave to another spot. Last month a family not only sat up within 1 foot of my things they swam right next to me. ( 4 or 5 feet  away) I was on my float ass up when they decided to invade. lol The kids were around 8 to 13 yrs old. The oldest young man couldn't stop staring. I walked  back to my car in just my thong. I saw no need to cover up since they were only a few feet way from me for almost an hour. When they saw me coming, the young man  said "I really didn't need to see that" but by the way he was staring I knew he said it because that is what he thought he was expected to say. BTW while I was floating, a park ranger saw me smiled then waved.

Back in the mid-1990's if I was too lazy to drive all the way out to Hippie Hollow (clothing-optional park at Lake Travis), I'd hit Pease Park in a thong. That place is not too far from downtown Austin, right in the city. I'd lay out there maybe once a month or so. Usually there would be at least one or two other thongers there. But then a frisbee gold course was put in, right through the area where most people would sunbathe. I guess the sunbathers went somewhere else, but I didn't get the memo.  The last time I went, I had to set up between that course and the sidewalk, and I was the only thonger there that day, in fact I was the only person laying out. Some college dudes were playing the new course and when they came by, one of them said "wow, I didn't realize we were at the beach."

I was starting to get the impression that Pease Park was no longer the best place to get some sun, but I stuck it out a little while longer. I was lying face down, almost dozing off, when I heard some children laughing. It was getting louder and closer and intensifying.  It was a bunch of grade school kids, out on some kind of summer school field trip, going past me on the nearby sidewalk, not fifty feet away. They were laughing at me, at my thong, and my bare butt.

I couldn't look. I pretty much froze, figuring the best thing to do was to do nothing. One of them said "look, that guy's getting a suntan!" There were other remarks that kids will make but mostly it was all laughter. There were a couple of adults with them and one of them tried to divert their attention by saying "look at this tree over here, isn't it amazing?" But I knew they were all looking at me. It seemed like it took forever for them to walk on past me.

That was my last day in a thong at Pease Park in Austin. It was almost funny at the time, but I'm pretty sure a lot of those kids went home and told their parents how they saw a guy in a thong up close in the city park. No real harm done, but I never went back there after that.

Kids may laugh at a thong, but you got them thinking and talking. I suspect you will inspire one or two of them to thong later in their lives.
It takes nerve to brush off the laughter of teen girls, but if you can show confidence by giving them a confident warm smile they can quickly become allies.
When running on the beach, which I am about to do this Sunday Morning, my most vocal supporters are normally group of young women.
In a group they are empowered to be more liberal and rowdy in support of men's thongs. Something they would be less inclined to do when inhibited by an attached boyfriend.
With teens the worst thing you can show is fear. The sky will not fall, so even if you are petrified you have to force your body to act and move with confidence, and smile warmly. After the first few times it gets easier.

JM, I agree about when kids see you in a thong it might inspire them later to also try thongs .  In August, I was floating in the lake close to the shore, buns up in my Joe Synder thong when 2 families with 7 kids set up almost on top of my towel. (less than 1 foot). One young boy, around 11 yrs old, couldn't take his eyes off of me. While all the other kids got in the water and swam within 5 feet of me, he stayed on the shore and continued to watch me. Since I was there first and they did decide to invade my area, when there were other open spots available, I decided to continue enjoying my self. After 40 minutes, I turned over and he really got an eye full. When I got out to get something to drink, I had to ask the grandmother to move so I could get out. She had placed her folding chair right above my sandals.. Nothing was ever said.
We all decided to leave at the same time. they were slightly ahead of me. Since they had already seen me in just my thong, I decide not to cover up on the way to the car. The One boy who stared, made a comment. "I really didn't need to see that". But somehow I felt he was trying to cover up for staring so long. I think he is a future thonger.

I was thonging at Barton Springs public pool at Zilker Park in the city of Austin in summer 2012 when a boy about 11 came up to me and commented with admiration on my small thong near the edge of the pool. He was wearing some very mainstream boardshorts and was a tad overweight but I could sense that he admired my boldness in wearing the smallest of swimwear at the swimming pool. No doubt he had some food for thought. Now that he has seen a grown man who looks in great shape wearing a tiny thong, he may later imitate my lead. Often times it takes a trailblazer to bring light to the unseen path of freedom.  Namaste!

A few years ago I was laying out at a lake early in the morning. It was going to be a hot day and I wanted to get  some sun before the heat of the day. It was a week day so  I did not think too many people would be at the lake. I was laying out in white nylon thong. I went to sleep buns up. When I woke up there were a busload of kids at the other end of the beach. As I was looking to the left I saw walking my way and about half way to me, two adult males. I assumed they were with the kids. Not moving I watched as they came a little closer then turned and walked back the other way. I turned my head  to face right and dozed off again. A bit later I sensed people around me and looked back to the left. Here was about 3/4 of the bus load of kids heading my way and nearly to me. They were dressed in clothes and swimsuits. All the boys had on street clothes or boardies, except one who was wearing  a bikini. The girls had on street clothes, one pieces and varying styles of bikinis from conservative to rio.
I rolled over and sat up to drink some water and to see what was happening. When I did that a bunch the kids coming to me split off and headed in behind me, I'm guessing to see my butt. As these kids went by some of them began saying,"Hi"or "How you doing." I would reply in friendly matter and  found out they were on a school field trip.  They passed me and got down to the end of the beach. Then some of the kids came back while the rest stayed. I watched the kids walk by and noticed one girl had on a one piece that was was riding up her butt. She was at about 50% cheek exposure when she walked by. I felt I would be OK and laid back down, face up. For next several hours there was a constant parade of kids up and down the beach. What was interesting was the girl in the one piece suit allowed her suit to keep riding higher until she was essentially wearing a thong one piece. I did notice she had no tan lines. The other girls began doing this too. Very interesting to see this behavior. The boys then began strutting around in some sorta macho mating ritual. I was not interested in "their women" as they were 40 years younger than me but they kept up  the posing and goofing behavior right near me. They had the whole beach to themselves and they are performing this stuff right around me.
One other time I'm coming out of the lake and back to my towel after a swim. A mother, her two daughters and their younger brother were coming onto the beach. They took a look at me and started to the left when they saw a guy in a thong. They turned turned to the right when they saw a topless lady in a thong. And so they set up between me and the topless lady. I get to my towel, dry off and lay down face up. Later when  I sit up, the boy is naked, he and the two girls are building sand castles almost between me and the water. I need to go to the water to cool off. So as I'm walking to the water I swing past Mom to say hello.  After these experiences I am not too concerned about thongs and children on the beach.

The presence (or not) of kids is not part of my decision making regarding what to wear at a particular beach or pool. Kids have far less sensitivity to swimwear choice than do the adults. Packs of teenagers sometimes tend to try to laugh at or ridicule someone "different" to impress their friends, but this is a far different issue.
The primary element in my decision of what to wear is first the law and then the "tone" of the beach. I will go nude at Haulover, wear anything I want at SoBe, drop the more extreme suits at some other beaches, and wear very small bikinis where thongs and G-strings are not allowed. I will not, however, wear dork shorts.

I love stringing every day on the beach in Naples down the end of our street, where I've become a known quantity.  I get there early and set up in the open, back from water's edge where the strollers stroll, yet in easy view of everyone set up nearby or going by.  Kids are never an issue, though there are plenty around.  If they look in curiosity, that's normal, and no big deal.  If they disapprove because they've been taught they should, I assume they'll move on, so I pay them little heed.

First I want to state that we do have children, and even though we wear g-string underwear in front of our children we have never wore g-string swimwear in their presence.  Our children have only seen us nude while sunbathing or swimming, at home, at nude resorts and at nude beaches.  Now prior to us having children and we vacationed at places where we had to wear swimwear both my wife and I have never had an issue of wear a thong or g-string if it was legal, but I will caveat the answer with, we also did not seek out family vacations spots either.  We usually went to resort hotels and public beaches, and I would do the same with my children with me and would not be offended if other wore their swimsuits in front of my kids, because they already know nudity is our preferred way of enjoying the sun and some places that isn't allowed so people must cover up to meet the laws.

i basically let the parents decide. if i'm laying out somewhere, and a family wants to set up next to me, then i'm ok with it. The fact that they're coming over that close is probably an ok sign. I have had moms and dads with their kids come up and talk to me, which is a little interesting. i'm NOT going to go flashing around kids, that's for sure. When they become teenagers, it's a little different proposition. again, if they want to walk by me, its fine with me, but i dont seek out them to flash.  that's where you get into trouble.

Had a negative experience yesterday involving children. Or more accurately, the children’s father.

I was at one of my favourite pools. Idealic weather, mid week so not too crowded and I had been chatting with a lady who, like me, had late teenage children. Only dampener was a guy who seemed to walk by a bit too often looking our way. He also at one point spoke to the life guard for a while, pointing in our direction. Eventually my lady friend left. The guy (not the lifeguard) immediately came over and told me to put my shorts on because (drum roll) “.... there are children here.” I made a point of looking around and said, “If you mean those two pre-schoolers playing with that woman in the kid’s pool (about 15m away), then they’re obviously not remotely interested in what I’m wearing.” He obviously didn’t want to hear what I had to say, as his only reply was, “There’s children here”. Irrespective of his view, there was something weird about him, I’m not sure he was the full bottle.

I’d been to this pool on 28 previous occasions, and nobody had ever said anything. Many of these visits had been weekends with a diverse range of patrons. Sometimes they started up the swim school about 5m from where I was laying, so there were kids by the dozens. Families set up right next to me. You get the picture.

Anyway, he kept standing there, so what do I do? Tell him to go away? Totaly ignore him? Unfortunately, both these actions risk him complaining to the manager and forcing him to make a decision one way or the other. Like it or not, in these situations I suspect managers tend to take the easy way out, which may not favour me. I had a look at my watch and noted that it was about the time I would usually leave anyway. I said to him, “I’m really not interested in your hang ups, but I’m going at two anyway, so you can stand there and stare at me for the next ten minutes if you want to.” This didn’t affect my plans and ten minutes was long enough to demonstrate to others that this guy hadn’t forced me to leave. It also enabled me to mount a reasonable case if he took it to the manager. After a pause, he again mumbled something about children (one track mind this one), then wandered off. I had never seen this guy before, so hopefully won’t see him again.

Grabeach, what were you wearing?  Personally, I tend to wear a more conservative thong (such as a black bravura) for conditions you describe, such as a public pool, or densely packed beach.  I save the tiny stuff when it is more thin.  I've never had a negative reaction.

Strip1974,

Alphamoda Andros, usually in darker shades of blue and green, sometimes black. Not disimilar to a Bravura which I just googled. Maybe a bit briefer, but then again I admit to being below average in size. I've worn the Andros exclusively when sunning at all beaches and pools for a number of years, irrespective of type or number of other users. I wear a Skyros over the top for lap swimming and bodysurfing as sometimes the Andros can tend to 'displace'.

Negative reactions are rare, actually rarer than I initially expected at Olympic pools. What complaints there have been at pools, until the latest occurrence, have been via the pool staff. As best as I can determine the complainer invariably;
1. Has an objection to thong type swimwear of any description on guys.
2. Will mention children being present.
3. Is male.

Thanks guys. I certainly won’t be put off. There’s so much happening at the beaches and pools at this time of the year to become disenchanted. See Setting an Example etc in Personal Experiences for the latest.

The only time I encountered someone being uptight was in Thailand back in 2002, a family, two parents and an early teen girl.  It was the mother who was uptight, not the father.  I was already at the beach south of Patong town when they arrived, so they chose to sit within a hundred metres of me on a fairly empty beach, on a mid-week day.  She kept giving me dirty looks as I lay on the beach and swam in the ocean in a leopard print thong.
.
Elsewhere, I've never had any problems, but that's mostly due to when and where I go swimming in a thong.  In Thailand and the Philippines, thongs were common on foreign tourists so nobody ever complained.  And at the pools and beaches I wore them in Canada, thongs were openly permitted, plus I usually swam at times when there were only adults (I was working nights, swimming in the morning).
.
I wear the skimpiest suits I can while here in Taiwan, though thongs aren't allowed anywhere.  Nobody has ever said anything about my smallest Dore suits (4" wide back and ultra low front), never mind suits with more coverage, so I continue to wear them.

Living in South Florida,  while I have been around children numerous times mostly no problems around pools.  Going to numerous bars on the beach, you usually do not see kids around.  I had told previous about one experience but another one was when I got to the non defunct Café Iguana in Beach Place in the mid 2000's.  I walked in my G-string and went straight to the bar, no body was in there.  As I was walking, I heard a girls voice saying nice seeing your again.  She was a very attractive Asian who reminded me that we had met a few years ago at another bar.  At the same time as she was walking behind me, I noticed a another girl a lot bigger around 6 foot then year but I could tell she was young.  I said I wanted a beer and got it.  A few minutes later, I noticed the young girl came over to me and ask me if I wanted another beer.  She said that she was out of middle school this day and she went to get her mom and her mom came and delivered me the beer.  I was struck that her mom did not felt threaten.  No big deal..It is probably because of the way I carry myself like no big deal.  Another time I was sitting at the bar in my G-string and a young girl came over in her bikini while I was sitting at the bar and talked to another bartender who was her mom.  I went over to play darts and the girl came over and wanted to play darts and I said fine.  Again mom knew me and no problem.

My wife and I have been going nude and wearing g strings for many many years. We have two daughters and they have always sunned nude with us at our family pool.

On vacations we all go nude if we can but of course most beaches require that we wear something! My wife and daughters wear the little Roma g strings mostly. I wear Skinz g strings.

We have had many interesting encounters with other beach goers. Mostly people are very favorable to a nudist family or when we wear our micro suits. We are usually vacationing in St Martin. A few times to the Cancun area. Tulum. Any negative comments we usually write off to the ignorance or religious nut jobs.

its all about how you raise your kids...we have a girl and 2 boys...7, 9 and 11.  They have been raised in a naturist household since birth...our vacations are naturist and when we are in locations that are not naturist friendly my wife and I thong and kids wear their preferred (well they prefer to be nude) suits: girl Roxy string bikini... both boys Hom brand racer bikinis...we have never had a problem but that may be because we vacation in areas that are frequented by Europeans whose attitudes twords beach attire are far more liberal than those in America.  I find that even in the US if we go to the beach a s a family and are our usual relaxed selves that our beach attire if necessary is only of momentary interest to others.  I have seen my boys, in bikini briefs, playing football with boys in baggies who are their age with no problem...in Europe my kids have mixed in with kids who are both nude and wearing suits also never a problem.  my children find nothing unusual or prurient about seeing their mom of me in thongs or nude...and that is because that is how they were raised.  as for other kids like I said we tend to mix with like minded folks but even in cases where we are not THE NORM if we are friendly, comfortable and accommodating our experience has been very positive even with the teen board short crowd

similar to the above answer, kids see nudity at naturist camps, so whats the big deal, SOCIETY IS, they try to control everyone. we all have our own lives and we are the ones in control of our own lives. if everyone did things the way SOCIETY says to, we would all be a bunch of faulty robots on an assembly line, doing the same thing. where i come from our word we use for SOCIETY is yuppie, cause they have nothing better to do then whin about the stupidest things. its time people grow up and give SOCIETY the bird.

well said Johny_b...our kids would think it was odd if we/they were not nude or in thongs...cant remember the last time any of us wore bathing suits in our home pool or to tan there during the summer.  We ask the kids every year where they want to go for summer vacation and it is always back to one of the naturist resorts that we have been going to for years: La Chiappa, La Jenny etc....no other locations are even suggested...even when we do a "traditional vacation...like when we took the kids to Disney they asked us to find a naturist resort for us to stay at and we did and commuted from there to the park...with great side trip to Haulover beach in Miami...one of Americas last great clothing optional beaches.  We have also discovered a german cruise line that offers a clothing optional family section by the pool..kids love those trips and have made friends form Germany Sweden, france etc.  naturism and thonging have allowed us to meet some of the most wonderful open minded adults and kids on the planet and my wife and I feel that the experience has def. made our kids better people.  problem is that a few idiots in the naturist and thonging community behave badly and that ruins it for ALL OF US!  That is why our family tries so hard to be good ambassadors for these lifestyles and you better believe my wife and I say something if we see another naturist of thonger behaving badly.  If we don't police our own movement we will be forced out..maybe not so much in Europe but def. in the few places in America where naturism and thonging are still accepted.

ENB:  I suspect your family is make believe. Three posts up on Feb 4th you said your kids ages were from 7 to 11. In the hotel thong thread two days later you said they were 7 to 10 (link below). Yet four years ago you said they were 8 to 13 (link below). How's that possible, and why should I believe the rest of what you wrote?

How absolutely petty is the comment made by "kewlthongNJ" about that written by "ENB11937."   What difference does it make?  Are we not here to read about others' experiences without someone making rude remarks?  Poorly done "kewlthongNJ."

I guess we have all wondered at some point whether a particular post, or even the poster, is for real or made up. That's the nature of the internet. However, considering some will visit a certain beach or pool, or even plan a holiday ($$$$) based partially on what they've read here, I've no problem with attention being drawn to inconsistencies.

My memory is far from perfect, hence my recollection of an event years ago may change. For that reason, when I started wearing a g-string to public pools, I also started a diary to record a few basic facts (eg. weather, number and type of clientele, general vibe, attitude of authority, any noteworthy event) about that pool on that day. Notwithstanding, I can usually remember roughly what age my kids are!

Re:The Presence of Children vs. What To Wear? (kids)

Before people met me in real life some people thought my personal experiences were made up.  Don't jump to conslusions about other peoples lives.  You don't know him or his kids.

Don't be to quick to judge, especially people who have children.  It is quite common for parents to state a different or older age when posting on this board. This is because if you post about your 8 year old running around in a thong people think you are more perverted than if you have a 12 year old doing exactly the same thing.

One of the reasons some mothers no longer post is because there were a bunch of men who thought they needed to TELL the mothers they were not good mothers and tell them how to raise their children. Men were sending them private messages telling them their kids should not wear thongs until age xx and letting young kids wear thongs or swim naked was BAD parenting.

I notice nobody complaining when people don't list their real home town or birth date.  There seems to be a double standard, and there seems to be little thought as to why a person might not want to tell their kids exact, or correct, ages.

What amazes me, and what I find more than a little creepy, is people tracking the age of the children of other posters.

This particular person you are complaining about has posted about very real places and hotels, some of which I have visited. I know they are telling the truth about the locations and attitudes. These things have been, to some extent, fact checked by other people like me who have been to the same place. Therefore I see no reason to disbelieve the rest of his posts.

If I had children I think I too would only give an approximate range of ages, and if I had young children who wore thongs or ran around nude I would suggest they were older, just so the self righteous don't call the child protective officers on me.

Although I am a very open thonger, I keep some secrets too.  I don't tell you all about my current faverate swimsuit maker, because they sell through ebay and you lot would out bid me. I don't disclose who my current girlfriend is, or if she wears a thong, or when and wear she might be found. If she wants to post and let the critics know she can do that on her own, but while I thong very publicly I don't need to out her. I am often on the beach but I don't share where I live, or my full name. For many years I posted about Fort Lauderdale beach but was careful NOT to post the name of the coffee shop that was friendly to me in a thong, just so some idiot would not go there and act stupid, and get thong-wearers banned.  Unless you know me in real life you only know me as JM.

In this current age of paranoia about kids and sex, with people accusing parents of ponography just because they have a picture of their baby in a bath, any sane person would think twice about even mentioning their kids going nude, or wearing thongs. Even though it is perfectly legal in most places.

For a number of years I helped raise a few teen age girls.  I did not post about their swimsuit or beach adventures. Only a few of you who met me at the beach with one or more of the girls even knew they existed. If I did post something, I believe I was vague about their age, relationship to me, or what they wore. There private lives are their business.

You are all ready to jump on the band waggon of  kewlthongNJ accusations, but NONE of you noticed that was a new identity created just today, just to post the attack?

Folks get a life. Get some kids of your own. See if you post their real ages. Bet you don't.  Bet you too are scared of the NSA, FBI and local police "Fusion Centers" scraping your data off the web and coming to call in the night.  If you are not scared of the big data gathers you might be a little nervous about creepy people who track your posts over several years, just to track the ages of your kids.

Well said JM. I'm sure some people make up stories. Others that have never thonged in public without being in secluded areas probably think some of my experiences are made up also.  As for children of nudist, while I am not a practicing nudist, I have been to nude beaches and nude resorts. I have been around families at nude resorts and the children are happy and care free. They don't go around staring at adults or other children. All the adults are very protective of their children and other children. Anyone acting out of place around the children is banned from resort. At times I wished I had raised my children as nudist.  The kids seem to have healthily attitude about the human body and realize people come in all shapes, sizes, color and sexual orientation.Don't judge unless you have been there.Stringking

JM, points well taken. However, if what you say is true, then why post any ages at all? Do you think that saying your kids are 7 to 11 (as opposed to some other age range) will keep the NSA, FBI and other data scrapers off the radar? But now that you mention it, perhaps the poster is affiliated with an LEA, laying out some bait. That would make sense given his four year absence from the forum before a slew of recent posts talking about his kids who don't seem to age with time.

As for tracking people over years, such is not the case. The discrepancy would have been obvious to anyone who read ENB's recent posts regarding Sanibel and then went over to the Sanibel archive to read up the history on the area. Add that to the incredible claim from his 2009 post where he said at least 8 tween/teen boys, each from different families, wore thongs at the Seashells condo pool. Sorry, not buying that at a non-naturist condo in a fairly conservative area in the USA. With only 44 units at the place that means like 20% of the families visiting had tween/teen boys that wore thongs which just isn't believable. This and the fluctuating ages brings into question the credibility of his posts. If I'm wrong, then my apologies.

I stand by my previous comment. I still think it was reasonable, including my attempt to inject a little humour at the end.

With regard to accuracy of posts, I don't knowingly alter any facts. If I don't want something known, I will not mention the relevant data, be it a location, name or age. An opinion, as opposed to a fact, will be clearly identified as such. Basic communication skills learnt a long time ago.

My wife and I are long time nudists and micro gstring fans. We have two daughters that have always worn swim suits similar to my wife's if they have to wear a suit at all.We have traveled to Mexico, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St Barts, Palm Springs and St. martin and rarely have any trouble. Most people seem to enjoy seeing a family either nude or all wearing similar suits. We have seen a few turned up noses but very rarely. My wife and girls all shop at Bikini-Beach and wear the tiny Roma suits.I shop at Skinz and Dubio and we all love the suits. Some people will always have to complain about something, but we just ignore it for the most part.
