Date Posted:02/26/2025 05:05:27Copy HTML So I've supported the thong forum and I'm continuing to serve this suspension. I think i will be stepping away from it though. I see it's value but the monitor/ owner/ whatever has a tight grip on the content and it's not a platform to really discuss our common thread of the love of thonging. At least here we can argue skirts wearing and other things and the content is managed in a better way. Thanks JM Runs for keeping this alive.

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/01/2025 03:48:35Copy HTML I get the moderating on the thong forum, and I like it. When this board was created, even men’s thong underwear was taboo. Thats no longer the case. More or less men’s thong undies are very common now and generally accepted. So I get the swimsuit only aspect. The rules and media capabilities of any forum really dictate what you end up with these days: Generally:
Images allowed (like the reddit swim brief and thong subreddits) - you end up with a mostly gay or bi demographic that uses the place to post crotch shots and most of the readers use the place like a porn site.
Underwear discussion as the focus - attracts more underwear fetishists these days than just regular guys that want to try something new.
No adult topics off limits - every other adject fetish ends up entering the chat. Thongs with skirts, thongs with leggings, thongs with cock rings, etc.
The only reason I like this board anymore is because its good source of beach reports. Theres a huge portion of people that ise this board to discuss their more fetish-like relationship with thongs and that is not me. If you are just a regular guy, that wants to wear a regular, non bulge/sexualized/seethrough thong, and talk about places you wont cause a stir, well this board has kind of gone way downhill for that sort of thing. |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/02/2025 01:10:16Copy HTML It's tyrannical over there. I had several people reach out to me asking me what happened. I suppose in the eyes of sam the moderator, me being a conservative thonger justifies why I'm not welcome on that platform. It was great while it lasted and I connected with AZ locals. I did meet up with goldentan at the vista and told him everything personally. I told the members from there about this board and hopefully they join this one as it's a platform where we can actually disagree on things and discuss. There's good information over there though but it is ruled under a dictatorship so be forewarned... |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/02/2025 08:34:44Copy HTML Wearsthongs: As the moderator of THIS board, not THAT board, I have long ago given up trying to define the difference between a thong or g-string; or the difference between a spandex swim-thong and thong underwear. Especially since one can wear a lot of the low cost nylon or polyester thongs marketed as underwear as a swim-thong on the beach. The way I handle that is by keeping them in different subject categories.
I get irritated when people try to hijack threads, or make everything about their personal paranoia, grandiose ego, or pedaliction for peacocking in baggies.
I try not to ban because people just pop back up with a new ID. Sometimes I delete a post. Sometimes I edit to remove a particularly offensive part. Sometimes I just move it to an existing thread on the subject so we don't have a gazillion threads about their particular obsession.
Mostly I rely on other board members to tell people when they are way out of line. That is the power of community. I try to check in every couple of days to see the latest posts. The 'Today' section is a great help.
One way I keep this from being a gay sausage fest is by not allowing pictures in posts. This means members have to be somewhat articulate. A moderator gains experence over time, and from putting out flame wars.
It is difficult to be constant year on year, especially if one has a real life to live. Each moderator has to feel his way and figure out the nature of his board. That takes time. |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/02/2025 04:29:31Copy HTML I agree with whoever thinks that moderation there is not optimal (euphemism).
And also with JM point of view: complaining here will not change things |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/02/2025 05:41:23Copy HTML I agree.... complaining here will not change things however providing an account of real expectations will.
Either way with or without the forum, this will be my biggest thong season to date! |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/03/2025 01:43:49Copy HTML Well it's now official--- there have been more reports of discrimination from "The Thong Forum" than from beach Karens and authorities over the last year!
People- if you don't like it there---don't go there!! |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/04/2025 12:07:07Copy HTML I actually love the community rules, but I hate how Sam edits literally every single post for "grammar and style." It's very, very strange to participate on a forum where your words are not your own. I've been on various forums of all subjects over the years and no one has ever done that. I have to repeat how utterly strange that is to edit posts for grammar and style. There is literally no justification for it— none. I hope he's reading this because he should know that his heavy-handedness absolutely discourages me from posting there. |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/04/2025 08:30:43Copy HTML It may help if you think of a forum like a magazine, with many people contributing. The moderator takes all the contributions and tries to make it readable.
On THIS forum I often delete duplicate posts. Sometimes add paragraphs when a good post is one long block of text. Edit out sections that are too chauvinistic or misogynistic, or maybe delete the post altogether. Some posts make my brain hurt, often by repeat offenders. Often I open the page and think "Oh No, person X is banging on about that again."
It takes a lot of time to get posts moved over to the right category, combined into the right thread, or just generally keep the board clean and tidy. I try to make moderation here unobtrusive to the casual reader, if not for the Original Poster.
I have now been doing this for more than 20 years. If I could I would go back in time, select better software and probably layout the forum in a different form.
It will take time for the moderator to get into the stride of moderation, to set the tone and direction of their board.
It takes time to figure out what to do when related but not on topic posts appear. Subjects related but not directly about swim thongs in public. Thong underwear; thongs in the news; thongs under leggings, tights or skirts; at home; in pools or hot-tubs; or experiences with the mother-in-law.
Unlike a magazine, you don't get to choose your contributors or tell them what subjects to write about. So it can be a bit difficult. Especially if some of them appear to be somewhere on the spectrum, or just as bigoted and blockheaded as people can be.
A choice has to be made if you correct the post, or correct and inform the person why, or delete the post, or just move it out of that thread so the thread does not become one persons continuous rant or blow by blow account of the confusion in their brain. All this decision making is tiring.
It takes experience to have the confidence to let things play out and self correct over time. If you have ever tried to write a book you might grasp the problem. Now imagine you are trying to write a book but each paragraph is written by a different animal in the zoo, and they don't like each other.
My goal HERE is to keep it civil, inclusive, and above all readable. I am not sure what the goals of the other moderator on the other forum are or how they will change over time. Reading between the lines it would appear they have a clear idea of what they do or don't want. Maybe that works for you, maybe not. |

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/06/2025 11:02:48Copy HTML Well, on balance, I think you do a great job. Possibly too great - it must take a lot of time - but it feels like a pretty safe space. So, thanks!

Re:The thong forum Date Posted:03/08/2025 05:40:52Copy HTML It’s difficult to take you seriously, GuestGuest. You seem like the kind of person who enjoys starting arguments. If someone doesn’t like you, maybe you should spend some time reflecting on your own behavior and how it makes other people feel. It’s a little weird that you keep logging on to the ThongBoard to complain about another message board like it’s a girl that dumped you. |
