Because I can't always tan nude in my yard or visit a clothes optional beach, I often have thong tanlines. To date no one has said boo about it. Then again I'm not a nudist, I'm a proud thong wearer! I think when you go there you don't have to fear any type of shunning because if you have tan lines, you may not be a nudist at heart either but just going there for the experience to maybe find out if you are indeed a nudist or not. |

My thong tan line is very noticeable as I get pretty dark under the sun, but those rare instances where the tan line is visible (say, if my suit shifts after I get out of the water), I've received nothing but praise and positive comments from other sunbathers/tanners.
I can't speak to nude beaches as I prefer to stay covered in the front, but I've not had any negative experiences with nudists when in their presence, even wearing a thong or string. |

So I haven't had a thong tanlines but I wish I had. Recently I tried home tanning lotion with a thong to get some, and said wife that I now have a permanent massage costume :-). But for the shy guy I am, it is the time to get to gym with thong tanline, to dermatologist appointment, waxing appointment and massage this week end for our 15 wedding anniversary. I was nervous for comments. But reading posts here tells me that I should be myself and so what for comments! Thanks! |

But honestly, I eventually started to feel empowered and confident to have a thong tan, especially once I realized how most ppl didn't mind it. We are all beautiful human beings and have every right to express who we are. We love wearing thongs so we have thong tan lines; own this. Yes, I do get a few sneers in the gym showers, but I honestly do feel bad (and feel pity) for such people. They small world their minds occupy must be incredibly sad. If you have developed a bit of a base tan then string side g-strings should not be leaving much of a visible tan line, unless you are wearing the same one every day. This assumes you are not wearing them tight the sides slide into the same crease in your body each time. |

I also tend to choose vacations where there are nude beaches. Not having a tanline means I can wear any suit if any style for a period of time, generally without affecting the all-over tan. Obviously, prolonged wearing of the same suit over several days would take a few more days tanning naked to get rid of the lines but on the whole I think tanning naked is better than tanning in a thong and having to work on choosing a suit and lining up the straps every time to keep the tanline well-defined.
If I do wear a suit to tan, I try to keep moving the straps around and adjusting the size of the front pouch or back to maximise the tan anyway. |

Have worn y back or g-strings during summer beach visits giving me distinct skinny lines along the back and hips.
When at the pool i wear modest more coverage thicker side straps T back thong. Often wear T back thong higher on the hips so the thin tan lines show.
Enjoy the reactions i get often gals are shocked. Obviously shows i wear smaller thongs g-strings away from the pool.
When people believe my swim t back thong is small they realize from the tan lines showing i wear skimpier thong g -strings. |

Plus hit the tanning bed a few times to sharpen things up. Line was crisp and sharp all summer. Got a comment, "Wow that's hot - I wish I could tan like that." I'm hoping to upload some new pics to the album if I can figure out how to get them to size right!
And alas, summer has ended and my outside tanning time has ended until next year. |

I have the Caliente in baby blue and black, and these two have been my go-to thongs for tanning. I have clear tanlines from the Caliente, but I realize that this model is quite low rise, so my tanlines are only an inch or two above my crack.
Is there a thong model that is a bit more high rise? For next summer, I want my thong tanlines to be around my tailbone. |

I've been using Daniel Alexander thongs for awhile. Joe Snyder is good too, but I'm in the market so interested in what's new. I want a mix of heavy material but a small back and smallish front. |

In years past, I have tanned in Skinzwear M25U and M77U thongs to achieve my thong tan lines. Mostly their M25U style. It is quite possibly my favorite thong style of all. This year I decided to try a g-string when tanning. I opted for the Skinzwear M31U g-string. I love the larger pouch on it and Y back g-string rear. I was concerned that it would be a challenge to get the straps lined up each time I tanned. After multiple tanning sessions in my g-string this spring and so far this summer, my tan lines are looking good. It has been actually easier to get my g-string straps lined up perfectly that it was getting my thong straps and triangle rear lined up. I don't know how to post pictures here on the forum but if you check out my Flickr site, you can see my tan lines there.

Unfortunately I had an issue with an order of 4 thongs. The center strap was about an inch longer compared to the ones I already had.
At the same time the shipping to Europe got rather expensive (about the price of a thong)
So I didn't order from them anymore. |

Great material, will leave a sharp tan line, and they are mostly appropriate for public, as long as you are not out flaunting. Great comfy fit too so they are perfect to lounge around in, and also great is you get a little blood flowing and need room to expand. Love them!
Definitely needed to order extra room in front, but don't get too much extra room because then they'll get baggy. |

I've been going back and forth on tanlines recently. For years I've loved having thong tanlines but this past summer I drifted into no-tanline territory. I have a couple of g strings that have 1/16th inch elastic straps. These leave zero tanlines, as though I'd laid out nude. I would probably never wear these on a public beach but this year all my tanning has been in my yard, in a private area.
After all the days this year of laying out for just 45 minutes or an hour or so, often for consecutive days (that's the real trick to getting a good tan), then seeing my brown bottom transitioning unbroken into my brown back, it's just satisfying. And up until a few weeks ago I've thoroughly enjoyed having the same tan all over throughout my midsection. But I decided to lay out for a few days in my some of my favorite cuts that have 1/2 inch sides. The tanlines came right back, but only faintly since the skin under the straps is still pretty tan.
The main reason I switched back is because I love wearing those particular 1/2 inch thongs. One of them is in my "backyard" pictures, the blue/black/teal/white vertical striped one. But then I started missing the no-tanline look. So this past Saturday I laid out for a couple of hours in 1/16th inch g strings. And now the tanlines I'd recently developed are barely there.
So I'm dealing with some tanline schizophrenia here. Can't decide if I want them or not. Anyone experienced this? |

Now that summer is coming to an end I will be sad to loose the crisp definition. I do hve a few excursions planned to the tropics for November and January that will help keep a tan line going. Yet, it will not be line now when I get several days a week for several months to define my thong tan line. I’ve said this before: there is nothing sexier than a thong tan line. When I see that on another person female or male I have a sense of excitement. |

Mostly I wear thongs people would generally call g-strings, with varous side straps that range from 1/4" to 1" wide. Some rears are just a joining ring and some have a fuller triange.
Each cut or style sits diffrent, so by the natural process of not wearing the same one every day or two days in a row the side straps never sit in exactly the same place.
A second secret is not to wear anything that cuts in or leaves a dent in the skin. If the strap under tension it will slide or roll into the shortest path, which is always the same.
You don't wear t-shirts where the armhole strangles your forearm, so don't wear thongs where the leg or waist elastic dents the skin. If you do it will make you look flabby and fat, like a trussed up Sunday roast.
A more comfortable fit does means that if I dive headfirst into the swimming pool the thong is going to need hoisting back into place before I exit.
The resulting tan lines is just a small white, but not clearly defined zone in front. A hint of a triangle in the rear. No defined tanlines on the sides.
If I wear a suit with a tiny or very skinny front pouch after a period of wearing wider ones the lighter skin eather side is noticable. Other than that to most people I appear to have an all over tan.
I don't lay out. Way to borring. Once in a while a girlfriend will coerse me to layout with them. but that is varry rare.
I am normally walking around picking up litter, or paddle boarding on the water, or doing something. The sun comes in from above or sideways - and I am moving around. This means I am not lying down, waiting for the sun to inprint a tan line. Frequent changes in direction help even out the sun.
Sumertime midday in both Florida and Mallorca tend to be scorching hot. Unless out on the water I spend more time in the morning or later in the afternoon, retreating to cool shade at mid day. This means more sun time but less midday burn.
The key ingredients:
- Different suits that don't fall in the same place.
- Soft fit so no skin crease or seeking the shortest path.
- Up and moving - not lying still and waiting for an imprint.
- Avoiding peek burn times for a softer tan. |

There's another thread elsewhere that addresses the sporty look of a thong, which is a concept that's attractive to me. For doing activities like paddle boarding, swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing, or whatever else, I prefer a more conservative cut thong that almost looks like a 1-in speedo from the front, but has a thong back. And in that scenario I do like the remnants of a soft thong tan line.
The appeal for me is that it's evidence of having been out and about doing things in a thong, out in the sun, in public. It's a mark left on my body that indicates outdoor fun in a thong was had.
But lately I just haven't been out as much, and therefore the only thonging I've been doing is laying out in the yard in a micro g string and developing no tanlines. And I love how that looks too. |

With the Gregg Homme Caliente, my tanlines were only an inch above the crack.
Now, I have a few Modus Vivendi thongs that are high-rise, and I can wear them high. I much prefer my tanlines to sit higher across my lower back. |
