	Date Posted：06/07/2026 02:00:00Copy HTML I'm looking for a thong or gstring that isn't low rise that would show for whaletailing. Ideally without a thick waistband or bulging front. I've also had to rule out a lot of North American brands as postage to the UK is ridiculous now. I feel most styles these days tend to sit too low or need to be wedgied right up in order to be visible above shorts/trouser waistline.

The thong would have to be a high rise, definitely; but the pants or trousers would have to be a bit low rise to have your underwear show. On thinner fabrics some of mine show through, not above, or give that footprint in the sand appearance. Over drinks sitting on a stool a coworker of mine she ran her finger over the showing thong and said, “sexy!” Others were curious what she meant and had me share with the group what she was talking about. Generally it all went positively and some people continued to referred to that evening for a while. A couple of them made further inquiries and remarking how brave it was of me to wear them publicly. Nothing brave about it, it’s just underwear and swimwear. They agreed that although they would have a hard time wearing one, they would not think much about some stranger wearing one as underwear or swimwear. Good conversation starter!

I have some chinos and chino style shorts that sit slightly low and would show if I bent down/sat. @nzthonger thank you for the suggestion but they are too expensive. They're also marketed as low rise although I agree that they look higher than JS ones in the pictures.

Doreanse aire thongs are great as they have lots of stretch and if you order one size up you could pull them up to make them high rise. They are pretty cheap too so you could buy a couple of sizes and colours to see what works best. They also have a modal version which is a g-string that I have pictured in my album under my most recent gym pics to show you the height and style. I also have the aire style shown as a whale tail in my thong slip picture but that’s a size S so doesn’t show much above the waistline. Another brand you might not have heard of is Gauvine. Their modern structure G-string sits incredibly highly on the waist. I know because I have the white one and hardly wear it due to it riding up so much but it’s definitely an option if you like string.

I had a Gauvine one but the fit was terrible for that reason. It looked awful, whaletail or not, and didn't hold well at the front.

I have it in size S and still need to pull the waist above my hips to have the pouch fit properly haha What’s your plans for whaletailling? Is this a casual thing of for event etc? I often wear a string with low rise shorts when strolling at the beach. Cropped T-shirt also works well with low rise shorts.

I sometimes wear an Aussiebum Air Jock when wearing my Levi jeans. The waistband of the jock often rides up at the back enough that there is plenty of clear space between the top of jeans and the waistband of the jock. I often wonder what people think when they see that especially as the Aussiebum logo is very prominent on the jock waistband. The waistband is also easier to pull up to ensure display than that of a thong as there is no understrap to keep it pulled down.

In my gym I constantly see women either wearing leggings with thongs showing through or have leggings slip to show whale tails. Because it’s high intensity and dynamic in movement you can have a thong slip very easily and guys are encouraged to train topless. Hence why I ended up showing my whale tail in a highlights video posted at the end of the day in my gym. @tremendimouse do you also wear thongs or gstrings with your Levi’s or is it primarily jocks? I’ve never owned a jock but imagine them to work well with most outfits

Depending on my choice for the day some thongs and G’s will show but my preference is for tiny low rise thongs and G’s so they rarely show a whaletail. The Aussiebum air jock on the other hand generally is higher cut with a wide waistband and often rides up above the top of my levi 511 jeans at the back especially if you’ve been bending or doing a lot of moving around. Most times a t-shirt or polo shirt cover the whaletail, but on a summers day, shirt off then the whaletail will show. The jock itself is very comfortable if you are looking to buy one.

I'd rather do my own exercises than crossfit. Plus my gym isn't he type for topless training. Most of my gym shorts are leggings-tight so show off my ass that way. My looser ones still show off my butt but are lower waisted and suitable for whaletailing. I just need the right thong.

The weather has been awesome in the uk this last week and I’ve been doing a bit of walking and exercising topless and have tried a frontal whale tail for change with my thong showing at the front. To get the look I’ve had the front button of my shorts undone and rolled over with my T-shirt tucked into them allowing them to sag and show my thin strap and the corners of the pouch. I’m not sure anyone has even noticed but it’s been nice getting a little exposure.

Unfortunately it sits lower than it does on the model on the website. The triangle is right at the top of my crack, not above. As a result, it isn't high enough for whaletailing. A size up might work but I don't know if I'll risk it for the price.

If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly.
