It seems that the younger generation is all about the thong but against the thong tan lines.  We are in our 40’s and love our tan lines. Our kids likely because of us like them too. My wife and I were in Kauai and were adjusting straps to align with the tan lines. There were 3 younger women next to us chucking and said it’s too much work! We all started chatting. And they said they too only wear thongs but avoid tan lines. They preferred none. My wife talked about having them as a turn on for sex and they thought having none were better but admitted they loved ours.

At a buddy’s bachelor party one stripper came early and I was at the house pool too hung over to golf. She was the same way. She didn’t like the tan lines but the older strippers did.

What are your thoughts? Is it an 80’s and 90’s thing? Especially now as I’m back in a wider strap and fuller back, I love the look and so do our friends we swing with.

i think that the younger generations are against the tan, not only the tan line. in the 80 or 90, people tried to have a dark tan. Now, because we know that sun is dangerous for the skin, the younger generations put sun cream, etc... so they prefered to have a light tan and don't try to have a shark tan lines. i think it is THE big differnce between 80 and nowadays. In the 80, people said they putted a thong to minimalize tan lines. in the 2000, tan fashion has dicreased because it is dangerous for the skin. so the thong has disappered from the beach. But, now, the younger generations like the thongs but not the tan. the link between thong and tan is broken, and i think it is a very goog thing. the main difference is that in the 80, you saw thongs on the beach but only at the hottest hours, and women putted a cover after. now, the girls keep their thongs at all hours, activities or season. you can see girls in thong during the winter, in an indoor swimming pool whereas it is the night. and it is normal because there is no link anymore between thong and tan.

I am not sure that is much of a correlation with age. Both in the 80's and now I have known some folks who love tan lines and some who hate them. I personally think that tan lines look strange and can lead to some painful burns when changing styles. I am not exactly young. I have a t shirt that says "happiness is no tan lines".

I'm in my 70's and think thong tan lines are sexy on men and women...and always have since as far back as I can remember. Before our recent move, we were long time members of a nudist resort that actually had a rule of "no thongs!" Really? I guess they think they're too sexy? So for me, showing up at their pool with a thong tan line kinda made a statement I think. Shows I'm a proud thonger. Elle and I were standing in line at their (nude) bar one time and a woman behind us asked me where I got the nice tan lines. I answered, "at Ft Desoto and the pool in our back yard," but to me, the important thing was the positive comment...and I thanked her for it. Bunz
