Same as a skirt, only more fun. The lengths I wear are above the knee to mid-thigh to almost butt-baring. I tie them at one side so there's a split to the waist. I wear them over a thong bodysuit with skimpy tank top. The small pareo gives a hint of what's underneath, but i'm still covered. Very comfortable. Good coverup for thongs. I've never gotten a negative reaction. I've walked along lots of busy streets. I've worn them in restaurants and on tours with other vacationers. Occasionally someone will turn and look. Nowadays there's so many different kinds of resort wear my attire isn't real unusual.

After seeing Braveheart on TV, my wife asked as a joke how a kilt would suit me. There was only one way to find out because I was intrigued too. The feeling was so good and more kilts came in and after that skirts. My wife just tolerates skirts but likes the kilts. I wished too more men would discover the super comfort of skirts. But society is still not ready for this. And men wore skirts and dress-like garments for ages. If women can wear pants then men can wear skirts and dresses, no discrimination.

Good to see this discussion.
I wear skirts most of the time these days.
On occasion when I have gone back to normal shorts or jeans it has felt weird and so constricting I can't see how people wear them all day.
If I wear anything under the skirt it will be a thong but often not.
In winter long ones to the ground and in summer short up to butt line.
Never once had a bad comment and lots of good comments mostly from women.
I just wish some designer would start making a good LBD for men.
Skirts are gender non specific but dresses always have provision for breasts.
I want dresses designed without that provision.

I’ve never had one before and I hope it fits well because I’m gonna wear it in LA with a black flare miniskirt I found at a boutique store the next time I make it out west. The skirt is barely 1” below my butt cheeks. I love the feeling of a thong under a short skirt and I can’t wait to try this combo out.

I love the carefree mood I feel when wearing a mini skirt (10 inches) and either a thong or gorgeous frilly panties underneath. But I only dare to do this in a town where nobody knows me.
Once, I bumped into a couple, who I had known from college, but they didn't even comment as we went off for a coffee.
People should be able to wear what they like.

However, my wife did buy me a green kilt last year and I wore it on St Pattys day with a line green thong under. Felt great! I wore it out shopping and has several people give me good comments (and a lot of stares I’m sure). But if a guy can’t wear a kilt on St Patty’s day, when can he???

I once picked up a really cute short black ruffle skirt at a lingerie/stripper store in Seattle - it’s only 9” long. I wore it at WeHo last year with a sheer black g-string under. If I bent over even an inch, the bottom cheek would show. That felt amazing! I spent the whole day in an orange micro-G from tangaland24 at Venice Beach, then hit the hotel hot tub in a sheer skinz G, then the micro-skirt into the late night - was a fun day!

I do have a gorgeous micro (9" ) kilt, which just shows enough cheek, and as it fastened only at the top and it can blow North in the wind it can show off my panties/thong/g string to effect. I have a few other skirts but living in a conservative community, the chances to wear a skirt are limited. I do enjoy wearing them on holiday.

There seem to be two times women do this. Both seem to involve wearing short skirts and the shorter the skirt the more likely a women might be going commando. (Perhaps it is just that shorter skirts make it more noticable.)
First is that the fancier the situation (like a night on the town at a trendy restaurant) the more likely a women is going commando. Second it the more casual the situation (hanging out on the porch at home, going to the convieniece store, getting self-serve gas, etc.) the more likely commando is happening, but it is a lot harder to tell since casual clothing tends to cover the commando area.
Over the last few years, I have seen more and more women at the beach or boating who wear shorts with incredibly tiny inseams or swimwear with just a strap covering their goodies which sometimes decides to slip into interesting areas. Do these boarderline commando outfits count or are we only talking about skirts without underwear? It actually seems that the skirt commando look is getting quite popular at times while the other ways to expose the kitty cat have remained the same for quiet a while.

I park on a street near the lake where I can't help but be visible to others driving or walking by. Comments have all been very positive, particularly from women. It is a great way to quickly cover up if the need arises and it is also a great way to approach a beach where there are already people there and simply ask if they mind if I get a little more comfortable. If they are accepting I can easily untie the side and I am down to my thong or less, as the situation may allow, in less than a split second. |

On vacation I wear pareos when visiting places in warmer climates. Very comfortable. I have pareos from 10 inches long at butt crease level to 20 inches long coming just above the knee. I've never gotten a negative comment. The short pareos make a great swimsuit cover up. |

Maybe I'm mostly familiar with my own wife, but she has vaginal discharge so that for no underwear would not remotely be an option, especially with a skirt. Sometimes can with tight fitting shorts or pants like leggings, but depends on which ones and she often doesn't want to stain them. It's natural women's anatomy and some women may be affected more than others but I think it's quite common. |

I asked my wife, my ex wife, female friends on Twitter who are mostly nudists, friends at the nudist resort,etc.. you get the idea. They ranged in age from their mid-20s to mid-60s. And while most were from the Chicago area, some lived in other parts of the states, and handful were international.. mostly the UK. None of them said they went commando. Zero, zilch, nada. They mostly cite the reasons jake brought up.. a hygiene issue, although a few said it's because they are out in public a lot and they were afraid of pervs trying to take up-skirt photos.
A few said they occasionally go commando under leggings but it was rare, mostly for morning runs or trips to the gym.

He was kicked out of the prom and suspended from school. There was so much bad publicity that about half the football team started wearing kilts. The principal realized that his actions at the prom were creating a revolt among the students and appologized to the student, then the entire student body at a pep rally.
The male student along with some others continued to wear their kilts during classes and at public school events. While he will not be able to relive the prom he missed, he was choosen king of the prom the next year, and his female partner was crowned queen of the prom at the same time. As queen, she wore a men's tuxedo complete in all respects.
The one thing female students said was that they were sorry that they did not have any obviously male dress that they could wear in protest.
Maybe they should have worn thongs and bikinis topfree at the school pool? Going topfree is one of the few gender specific things that men do and most women do not do publically. |

Today I have bought a plain black knee length skirt with 2 front pockets and a string tie around my waist for regular daily wear. Since I have lost weight and gotten into decent shape, now with some fashion forward thinking men I have seen wearing skirts (Harry Styles). I thought I'd give it a go just to try it out. Tomorrow will be the 1st day I take my new look to the streets. My wife has not seen me yet and I don't know how she will react. But she is the person that got me to paint my toenails. Just trying something new and exploring my female persona. Yes, I'm a straight married male, but not looking to go on RuPaul's drag race or cross dress. |

a sarong or spa towel wrap is OK for the beach, but I'm looking for something to wear on a daily basis, instead of cargo shorts and jean shorts. Kilts are OK but I would like a skirt to wear running errands to the store, going out to the park to walk my dog or just daily activities.

@ Big daddy thong- to each their own.... except at the airport lol.. I know I would feel silly wearing those types of skirts...I think skirts are inherently feminine similar to say a purse or lipstick... that previous post about the guy being asked to cover up at the airport had on a black mini skirt but I guess he wasn't conducting himself in a way where he could remain skirted lol.
I think the sarong is acceptable the same way a Scottish kilt is acceptable in terms of having cultural ties...
The towel cover up has a function... even JMs short one lol. |

I wore my new plain black skirt (Spandex and nylon blend made for casual sports activities) out and about yesterday. Went down to get a bagel at the local deli coffee shop, The owner asked me if I was coming from yoga. But she has seen me in the morning with my tights on. During the work day I drove to a job sight I hour away and worked out side in public view. I don't think anyone cared that a 6ft. 5in black guy was in a skirt, baseball cap, tank top and clogs. I went to several stores to buy another one, finally bought a black denim skirt with pockets and belt loops at Old Navy. They look just like jean shorts but with out the legs. Took them out for a test spin today and I was a grand experience. I did wear my skirt to yoga with my tights underneath. I did not do yoga in my skirt but just slid them off for class. My tights did not have any pockets so it worked out after class, when I went to the store to pick up some groceries.

I found a navy blue yoga skirt at a local discount store called Gabe's. paid $3.99, can't want for hot yoga class to try them on. These have above the knee compression shorts built in, like skorts and the have pockets on the legs like regular leggings. I also bought a light blue jean skirt Old Navy brand at the Goodwill for $4.75, recently I just purchased a similar black denim skirt from Old Navy for $40.00. I'm wearing the new blue ones tomorrow when I got out into the world.

The lady who was doing my nails draped a towel over my exposed legs. I thought to myself that was weird, but when I realized I was wearing skirt and she did not want to be working while looking at my privates. I was wearing underwear by the way, I do not go commando, event though I'd like to but, since my recovery from prostate surgery, I still have leakage issues. so I did not expose Mr. Happy to my nail technician. 1st time different experience from wearing shorts or pants. Now, I know how women feel about being upskirted. I'm also working on gracefully exiting my car without flashing my family jewels to any passerby that might catch a glance. |

Yesterday, instead of my usual long tights - leggings I wore a blue yoga skirt with the built in compression shorts, side pockets and 6 inch inseam to hot yoga. They have fall just above the knees. Afterwards I went to get gas for my car. I went inside to buy a MEGA millions ticket and beer. The friendly clerk complimented me on my skirt asked me if I was playing tennis. I told her I was doing yoga. I told her I've just started wearing skirts recently in place of shorts. She agreed the skirts are much cooler to beat the heat. |

It hit both of us that a sarong i much more particle than shorts as they dont get clammy from being wet. The following day i borrowed one her sarongs and ever since worn them instead of shorts. Ive never really gotten disapproving looks, not that i care. Just some second looks. they are comfortable and can easily be shaken out to get rid of the sand. |

Went to the pet store pick up some dog food, the clerk knows me as a regular customer. I was wearing a black jean skirt with a t shirt, ball cap and flip flops. She mentioned at check out how much she like my outfit and my painted toenails (orange w/ glitter). She even called over two of her coworkers to check out my nails.
I went to return my rental car and a lady picking up her rental at the counter asked me if I played tennis. She said I looked like a pro athlete. I was wearing a black skirt that really showed of my long legs. She mentioned how muscular my legs looked in my skirt.
My wife had been away for a couple of weeks this past month since I started wearing skirts full time. When she got home from vacation with the grandkids, she was doing laundry and found three of my skirts in the dryer. She asked me in a joking way, was there something she need to know. I explained that it was a fashion choice based on expanding the limits of gender in unisex options, comfort in the heat, ease of going to the bathroom since my prostate surgery with my bladder issues, and I'm now 65 years old, so I'll wear what ever I want to wear without worrying about anyone else thinks about a man in a skirt. I told her it not like I'm Ru Paul trying to be a drag queen LOL!

I wore a black knee length Anne Klein skirt on my drive route to Ohio and back.
I wore my new navy blue yoga skirt with a six inch compression shorts built in and side pockets to hot yoga today and a blue thong bodysuit underneath and a blue under armour tank top.
My new thing is shopping at discount stores like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Gabe's, Burlington Coat Factory, TJ Maxx. I have made lots of good finds at these places. But I looking for something else that I not just black and not to girly, any suggestions? more Unisex style and in different colors. |

We started talking about a number of subjects including our kids and etc. We talked about the current heat wave and I mentioned that I have been wearing skirts to beat the heat and the wife said she did not notice until I mentioned the fact. She said they looked like shorts from a distance. Just proves that I should not have been nervous about running into people I know and being seen in a skirt. |
