Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:03/28/2024 01:00:17Copy HTML Jpbikini you're a real tough guy.... You call names and threaten violence so because people have a different opinion than you do....? Why is that? Why do you revert to this type of behavior as opposed to using language and words to illustrate your point of view... Your threats are weak and empty... Come at me with substance and perhaps we can have an open discussion... Until then you're that's and attempt at intimidation means nothing....
We're all here because we have common ground in terms of enjoying minimal swimwear...we openly share our experiences.... IMO some are on the nose, some tangent off into subjects that are loosely related....I offered my opinion and reasons as to my beliefs. I'm fine with folks disagreeing with me but I would never resort to behaving like you have.... I'm sure you violated the code of conduct...
Nowadays understand that there is more power in the pen than the sword....Use your words Jpbikini. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:03/29/2024 03:11:47Copy HTML Do we really need to read this negative back and forth bantering? I am surprised some of these comments have not been removed. Per the header on this site, this message board is the place for people who wear a thong or a g-string at the beach. I look forward to reading about everyone’s thong and minimal swimsuit experiences all around the world. Most of the posts are very positive with no one judging what people write. If I want to read about people condoning violence, all I have to do is turn on the news.
I read the posts on this message board on a daily basis. It is a pleasure to read about everyone’s experiences and to share information to those asking for advice. It is not a pleasure to read this hateful rhetoric. The weather is getting warmer in my part of the world, and I am looking forward to getting as much sun as possible, to as many locations by schedule will allow me to travel. So far, I have had great success with very little incidents or consequences. I hope to keep it that way because I am always mindful of what is permitted or accepted at each location/venue. I wish everyone on this site to experience the same success without trepidation or judgement from others. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:04/01/2024 02:50:51Copy HTML "I've still yet to personally figure out what you of all people have against me aside from you disagreeing with a few opinions I've had which is fine...." I have some theories: First, however you rationalize your opinion it's still perpetuating the same noise that a lot of men who wear a thong swimsuit in public are constantly confronted with - unsolicited opinions on what is and isn't gender-appropriate attire. The fact that you just happened to move the goalposts a bit is irrelevant. So while you're entitled to your opinion, it comes off as short-sighted if not outright hypocritical to many on a forum like this.
Second, your opinion doesn't give you license to wander about slapping labels on people (post #97). Whether you recognize it or not there is a huge difference between gender nonconformity and crossdressing, regardless of the garment in question. Again, I would think that someone on a board for dudes who wear thongs would be aware of that difference.
Third, you're not just stating your opinion. You were, until you escalated to mocking and misgendering in posts #93 and #95. The retaliation you drew was inappropriate, yeah, but using that retaliation to deflect from the fact that you were poking at people is absolutely playing the victim - post #103 being the prime example.
Hope that helps. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:06/16/2024 11:34:45Copy HTML Youth is wasted on the young, so the saying goes. Getting older means looking for ways to have more fun, with less peer pressure and fewer inhibitions. Going on vacation means doing things different to have fun. I began wearing sarongs as coverups over thongs. Both keep getting smaller. For small I got a couple of the Skinz mini sarongs as coverups. I'm medium height. At 12 inches long they leave some butt cheek exposed when tied on one side. My short shorts are 12 inches top to bottom, so not so different.
Why not wear a miniskirt? They're not too different from a short sarong. They're designed for someone with a waist. A style called a skater skirt or flare skirt is worn with the narrower waist band above the wider hips. A tennis skirt style is similar but most have built in shorts, called a skort, and this doesn't work well for a man. A stretchy pencil or tube style miniskirt has no narrower waist or flare so it can be worn higher or lower on the hips, but it tends to ride up when moving around. It works best for a very skinny person. A skirt is truly short if your fingertips fall below the hem. A really short micro skirt will leave some butt exposed even if worn lower on the hips.
Skater miniskirts have pleats so they look great, don't blow around too much with wind (no Marilyn Monroe effect), and flare out to conceal a guy bulge up front. They work well with a thong or g-string underneath. I've got one 14 inches long and it covers below the butt, and my fingertips are below the hem. If you get one with a zipper to close at the waist you have to get the waist size exact because there's no stretch. An elastic waist band leaves room for adjustment up or down over the hips, like the 12 inch flare skirt I got. For the beach I got a 10 inch micro skirt as a coverup. Quick and easy on and off. Adjust up or down for more or less butt crease reveal. The skater style is very comfortable to wear. Breezy. Fun, too. Nowadays expect more of less at the beach or near the beach.
I wore my miniskirts on a trip to Miami Beach where you see just about anything on the street and beach. I started out the first day wearing miniskirts around the hotel. No reactions. The next day I went for it. I put on a g-string, then a skin tight mesh tank top, and finally my 14 inch skater miniskirt. I walked out of the hotel and boldly went where I'd never gone before, miniskirted on a public street. After only a few minutes the nervousness wore off. Walking the full length of both the boardwalk and Ocean Drive multiple times over several days, I got a few looks, some smiles, and no negative reactions of any kind. While walking around I noted just 1 in 10 skirts was shorter than mine.
On my first excursion I got a "nice skirt" comment from an older man and a "you look gorgeous" remark from a young woman, which was a real confidence boost. On another day a young man stopped me to say how much he liked what I was wearing. A day later a man with his young family gave me a thumbs up and "very nice" comment. In the days that followed I continued getting more compliments from diverse people.
I'm glad I went for this look. I got the miniskirts on ebay so they were not very expensive. I'll be looking for more places to make use of them. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:06/22/2024 04:03:17Copy HTML I'm glad you had such a positive experience wearing a skirt! I agree, they're a fun and practical wardrobe option. Were I not so self conscious, I'd wear them out in public more often. Every-time I have, it's never been a big deal, but I feel more nervous wearing a skirt in public spaces than a thong at the beach. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:06/26/2024 11:01:02Copy HTML Recently, my nephew from Rhode Island came to visit. He is about 33 or so, So I took the day off from work to show him around town(Pittsburgh, PA)
But as a back story he was unaware of my skirt wearing habits. So when he arrived he offered to help me with some yard work around my home. I always wear skirts or skorts in the yard and my wife gives zero F's about my attire. We went to Lowe's for some supplies and came back home to work in the yard. Did I mention I was wearing a skirt all that time? But any way he did not have have any negative comments about my skirt. Besides, It was 88 degrees F. So we did out yard work early in the morning and since he had never been to Pittsburgh, I took him to a few tourist places around the city, all the time mind you while I was in my denim mini skirt. We went to get lunch in a part of town called the Strip District, which is also very touristy. We went to find a place to eat and at the door the lady whom happen to be black asked me if I was wearing a skirt. Now btw I'm black myself. Which was quite apparent that I had on a skirt and I said yes. She then said I needed to get some shorts on. I responded "Maybe you need to mind your own business! WHO MADE YOU THE FASHION POLICE? Needless to say My nephew and I went somewhere else. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/18/2024 03:06:12Copy HTML After returning home from my vacation wearing miniskirts, I decided to go for it and wear miniskirts with a skimpy tank top around town. I purchased several more of them in different colors. Hey, it's summer, it's hot, and people are wearing less. It's my adaptation for climate change. I went places like the post office, grocery store, and home center. No negative reactions. I overheard one man say to another "is that a kilt?" Good for him noticing and thinking about it. At a checkout counter one woman said to me "I wish I could look as good wearing that." I learned to use a towel over a hot car seat. It's true what's been posted before on this board. If you're comfortable and confident in what you're wearing then others pick up the body language.

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/19/2024 05:17:44Copy HTML Double standard
- women can wear whatever they want : pants, shorts, dress, skirt, legging, etc., all the colors (blue, red, pink,...)
- men can only wear pants, and sometimes bermuda shorts.
Women complain they are judged on what they wear. At least, they can wear what they want.
Men are rarely judged on their wears because they wear all rhe same things : pants in dark colors.
I would like to have more choice, more freedom.
Unluckily I am afraid that in my country, the only dress I could wear will be a "qami"
At paris 2024, one of the french athlet (man) chose to wear a skirt. Women had the choice between the official pant and the official skirt,. Him, he chose the skirt, He asked to have the pant too, but they say no. Only 1 wear per athlet. He was on the boat with his skirt at the opening.

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/21/2024 10:27:21Copy HTML @guestguest
I don't understand why you read this thread (and why you interfere) if you are not interested in.
I do NOT wear skirts or dresses. I prefer leggings for their comfort, practicality (reason why leggings are used for many sports) and leggings are neutral gender (runners and cyclists wear leggings !)
I think this topic is interesting because it is about men's freedom to wear what they want about gender neutral clothing. Even if you don't see the link, in fact it is the same "fight" for freedom.
And I noticed more men wearing skirts than men wearing thongs.
OK, it is not a statistic because skirts are visible whereas thongs are under wears and not visible.
As a french man, I may be a little too open minded. I know that opening ceremony of the Olympic Games shocked some people in the world (whereas in France we just found that offset) |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/21/2024 03:13:27Copy HTML I read it because it's on the "today" tab and I've attempted to relate it to thong wearing but the thread lacks evidence...
Leggings, I see how it relates by the nature of the garment.... they're thin, and thongs are related by way of VPL reduction because they are exposing by nature...
I agree with you 100% in terms of your freedom point of view.
The Olympic opening ceremony is off topic...I didn't watch it but I understand it was a display of Trans people....I did see a photo of the big fat one with a crown in the middle...
Culturally men wearing skirts will always be here with kilts and Polynesian cultures and what not but there's no evidence suggesting that shirt wearing and thong wearing are related unless you get into the weeds of crossdressing and fetishisms....
IMO there's a purpose to thong wearing... mine is to maximize sun exposure and by nature I believe they're more practical in aquatic activities...
Skirt wearing for men has no purpose unless it's culturally related.... however you did make an excellent point to freedom but I think that idea would be better expressed or discussed on a male skirt wearing or cross dressing forum....
I love these discussions though and I'm happy to answer any questions....I appreciate and respect them. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/22/2024 04:31:05Copy HTML @Guestguest
I think it's fair to point out that leggings are much more of an adjacent topic than skirts because of the VPL reduction.
On the other hand, in the US and western Europe, thongs are still very much coded as a feminine clothing item. A common complaint on this forum is the double standards and constraints placed on men's fashion. The implication that the only reason a man would wear a skirt is to indulge a fetish or engage in crossdressing(which I define as trying to pass as a woman) only further reinforces those cultural constraints. Honestly, I think wearing a thong swimsuit is much more provocative than wearing a conventional skirt so I find it a bit funny to take issue with skirt discussions for men on a forum centered around wearing thongs to the beach. All of the men who participate in this forum are men who for one reason or another are breaking from the traditional male fashion rules. It shouldn't come as a surprise then that some would like to explore those boundaries outside of swimwear.
FWIW, I think skirts are tremendously practical and comfortable to wear. They have amazing range of motion and the best ventilation of any garment for people who live in hot climates. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/22/2024 11:22:36Copy HTML See I disagree because thongs for men are specifically designed for men.... there's a pouch for the anatomy which is gender specific....
A regular skirt doesn't have that differentiation and are gender specific aside from the cultural appropriations (kilts, Polynesian types, Asian type garments) |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/23/2024 04:53:06Copy HTML Well, I'm genuinely baffled then by your logic because skirts are completely unisex in their construction yet you seem to think they have no business on a man.

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/24/2024 12:06:35Copy HTML Alright I'll give this one more try.....
My assertion is the cultural perception of thongs is that they are a feminine thing to wear. Whether the specific thong in question is constructed for a man or a woman does not change the fact that thongs are NOT considered typical masculine clothing. This is evidenced by the fact we are participating in a niche anonymous forum to discuss venues where it's safe to wear thongs publicly. Women do not need to have the same level vigilance about their swimwear choices. You have correctly pointed out that this cultural perception of thongs is misguided and that one purpose of this forum is to promote thong wearing as a reasonable fashion choice for men. Where I disagree with you is the assertion that wearing a thong constructed for men is perceived as a masculine thing to do. Perhaps in your own head, but that is not how most perceive it. That was the point I was trying to make about the bras. You very clearly think a man wearing a bra is inappropriate or weird despite the fact that people do in fact makes bras specifically for men. So, according to your own reactions to thongs, skirts, and bras on men, we can see that whether or not the garment is constructed for men does not influence whether the cultural perception of that type is garment is appropriate for men to wear. In your case, you personally like thongs. Therefor, you see it as worthwhile to fight against those cultural perceptions. In the case of skirts, you clearly agree with the current status quo on men in skirts. Which is fine. But, I think you're doing a lot of mental gymnastics to not see how these two issues are related. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/24/2024 06:51:54Copy HTML Anonuser30, you are too patient. Guestguest is not fair. He is just playing. He distorts your arguments and pretends to not understand.
We have to distinguish wears :
- socially gendered wear
- technically gendered clothing
Few wears are really technically gendered for anatomy differences :
- underwear because men and women are differents ;
- bras ;
- swimwear (like underwear)
- cycling shorts
- ...
Others wears are only socially gendered (colors, patterns or just the category).
A skirt is socially gendered. But is is not technically gendered. You don't need to modify them if a man want to wear them. I think our package will have enough room under the skirt even if I didn't try.
Sometimes, manufacturers adjust wears to each gender stereotype. Example for pants. Women have bigger thighs than men. So women with small thighs prefer to buy men's pants because it fit them better.
And men with big thighs (ans small waist) prefer to buy women's pants because it fit them better or they have more choice.
Sometimes, it is just a size issue. Tall women don't find their pant size and it is easier for them to find their size in the men pants. And vice versa |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/24/2024 07:01:22Copy HTML Generally, I don't read about this topic because it doesn't speak to me, and I only follow topics that interest me. Since it came up what's more feminine, a skirt or a thong, there are different views. For example, both my wife and I think that from a distance, a man's silhouette in a skirt looks ugly and feminine. By the way, it's quite similar to the sight of a man wearing dork shorts - same same. Men like round and plump women's butts, women like men's firm and narrower butts - a thong only emphasizes that. Whether the topic is a masculine butt or a feminine butt. A skirt is feminine, do what you want, that's just how it is. And many skirts are ugly on women too, but what can you do, fashion is full of horrors, but if it has a Gucci or D&G logo on it, then it MUST be good. And... if I see another woman wearing a skirt without high heels, meaning she's wearing sneakers or tennis shoes, my only emotion is: F*** me sideways, please! And so on until the end of time. You can beat me now if you want, as hard as You can, it does not change me. :-) |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/26/2024 04:04:30Copy HTML No beatings from me. It's perfectly fine to not enjoy the way a man looks in a skirt(or women for that matter since you seem to not like skirts in general). Personally, I think most men can't pull it off well, and it takes some creative styling to make it look right. I think your point about thongs emphasizing/exaggerating the natural shape of the body whether it be male or female is well taken.
My gripe with GuestGuest was the refusal to see skirts for men having any relation to thong wearing for men. Simply disliking the way something looks though isn't a big deal. And, a big theme on this forum is embracing wearing what you want regardless of how others react. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/26/2024 04:46:29Copy HTML I am probably in the minority and side with GuestGuest on this one. I am not trying to get into a philosophic discussion or upset any man who chooses to wear skirts. If I understand his posts correctly, all he is saying is, the discussion about men wearing skirts does not belong on this message board. The name of this message board is called ThongBoard and it is the place for people who wear a thong or a g-string at the beach. It is nothing about skirts. If the direction of this forum is to include the discussion of anyone wearing what they want, regardless how others react, then maybe JM_Runs needs to change the name of this board and its corresponding description. It's just my opinion and I welcome everyone's opinion. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/26/2024 08:16:23Copy HTML I appreciate both sides of the argument....I asked to be enlightened and was presented with a take that I can appreciate but don't quite agree with...I think I've been very clear with my position on the topic with reasonable evidence... I appreciate those whom are agreeable and I respect those who disagree....I think this entire subject should be removed from the thongboard as it doesn't relate....I think this thread is a gateway for dudes trying to associate other feminine clothing with thong wearing... high heels and thongs..... thigh highs and thongs..... purses and thongs..... before you know it then we got a board full of cross dressing dudes when the board is designed for men by men to wear thongs...
It's all about generating courage to wear thongs in the wild... embrace thongs with your masculinity.... it's a winning formula! |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/27/2024 12:13:12Copy HTML These are not really skirts but I cut out the thong on mine and wear as a cover up walking to the beach. Very nice when the wind catches it and gives a nice rush. Have worn with no thong but only at night since it is a little risky on exposing the goods.

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:08/28/2024 09:59:40Copy HTML Personally I don't wear skirts, but have been known to wear a short towel wrap that I guess is like a skirt.
There are a bunch of Scotsman who wear kilts, with or without underwear.
There are straight men in the world who wear wraps or skirts, and some who get a thrill out of cross dressing. Each to their own.
I guess the idea of a man in a skirt wiggs out some men, but than the idea of a man in a thong wiggs out others.
This is like gay marriage. If you don't want a gay marriage don't marry a gay.
If you don't want to wear a skirt then don't.
This is NOT a cross dressing message board, however there are 7,152 subject threads.
There are threads on thongs, thongs with leggings, thongs and running tights, thongs and shorts, and one thread on thongs and skirts.
I strongly support men wearing thongs. I am not sure flouncing around in skirts helps the cause, or just reinforces the stereotype.
It helps normalize thongs if people wearing thons act normal. It is better to get out there yourself, wearing a thong, and acting normal than to complain that someone else is doing it wrong - with the exception of people using thongs as equipment for flashing or sexual exhibitionism. |

Re:Thongs and Skirts on Men Date Posted:09/09/2024 05:50:33Copy HTML This thread is a bummer. It demonstrates a remarkable cognitive dissonance for a board dedicated to bucking narrow minded cultural norms of what people should and shouldn't wear. I get that not everyone who wears thongs are willing to, or are prepared to even begin to consider how narrow minded the gender binary is in our society. But how is it possible to be so devoted to expanding the limits of what it means to be an acceptable man or a woman, and then turn around and gate keep masculinity like this?
We all wish that thongs could be included as acceptable forms of style, individuality, identity, or practicality. Some of us just want the same attention, admiration, or bliss of being the most provocative, beautiful, or free person at the beach. For others, its a valid form of personal gender expression, thongs certainly should be included as an option for what it means to be a man. For others thongs are a celebration of our own identity as a sexual being, young and beautiful people arent the only ones who should be allowed to express the bliss of our own personal experiences with sex and our own bodies.
I wear feminine womens clothes for all these same reasons, and you'll find here, plenty of other examples of men who do too.. Just like our wives and other women, we wear skirts and dresses (etc) because they are comfortable, beautiful, and because we love how good they make us look and how good they make us feel.
Please extrapolate from there, about how I am happy and comfortable with myself as a feminine man, and about how the only desire I have to have been born a woman comes from how much easier (if not safer) it is for a woman to express their own beauty, grace, love, sexuality, and even vulnerability.
You'd be a fool not to see how there is absolutely nothing you could say about a dude in a skirt, that you couldnt say about wearing a thong. And then youd have to be all that much stupider not to see that any and all of your arguments, complaints or nonsense about me in my beautiful knee-length floral sundress, could be rebuked in the exact same way you would shut down anything against thongs.
And as for violence, threats, and macho posturing- thats pathetic childish behavior. Shut up and grow up, there is no place for that here, or anywhere. We all have enough things to worry about without having to deal with the infantile tantrum of an immature dimwitted reactionary.
As a thong wearer, you should be able to at least begin to understand, if not actually relate to such a benign and harmless expression of personal identity. Please, take a minute, actually think about what you're reading, what you're saying, what does all this mean to you, and about you? Are you sure thats who you really want to be?
This doesnt have to be such a bummer. |
