Date Posted:03/18/2005 07:53:07Copy HTML Why don't male Bodybuilders start using thongs? In old times Bodybuilders used to use boxers, then they progressed to speedos and now small string bikinis. The next evolution should be thongs to show more of their muscles.
I love to see female fitness models in thongs, I think if male bodybuilders start using thongs it will popularize them and tame down the fear that men have of usint thongs.

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:03/20/2005 12:09:24Copy HTML My friends and myself really like to lift weights (we go almost relgiously 4 times a week), so naturally we read a lot of literature about it. I read Muscle and Fitness, etc and in those magazines, the most some of the guys wear is a posing strap that's about the same coverage as a rio cut bikini. I'm really dissapointed/disguested that people (my friends included) approve of bodybuilder's wearing a suit that small, but if I wear <I> anything</I> other than board shorts...
Anyone else see this hypocracy? |

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:03/20/2005 03:24:00Copy HTML The thing I always found ironic about this is that for some of the glute/ thigh poses you need to pull your suit into a thong anyway. It does seem like you should just skip the process altogether and wear a thong or string. |

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:03/20/2005 05:20:46Copy HTML I used to be an avid reader of MucsleMag and Muscle And Fitness. It always striked me as odd that the guys never used to wear thongs. If you look at any photos when they are competing they always give themselves a wedgie to show off the glutes. I've seen plenty of the top bodybuilders wearing thongs when doing photoshoots with fitness models so it makes perfect sense to let them thong after all they have got the body for it.

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:03/20/2005 11:16:53Copy HTML I also noticed about the weidge to the rio suits to show the glute muscles. This looks ridiculous.

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:03/21/2005 07:59:04Copy HTML I reckon this "rio suit-wedgie" is nothing but the icing on the cake of hypocrisy, of this controversial and at the same time beautiful sport. We shouldn't be surprised about it; just look at how do they condone and at the same time promote the use of heavy and customised performance enhancing drugs on their athletes. Then they want us to believe that these athletes achieved their awesome bodies by following these routines, and buying those protein powders (chicken soup) from those companies, advertised on their magazines. The abuse of enhancing performance drugs in bodybuilding is at its peak, ever. Another side of their hypocrisy, are those "natural" bodybuilding competitions, where 90% of the competitors are former heavy anabolic steroids users, who stopped abusing them one year ago, therefore they are "clean" now but 80% of their body mass was achieved when they were not "natural". The day the public opinion opens their eyes, and realises that the use of performance enhancing drugs should be legal, as long as supervised by a general practitioner who could monitor its use, then we would see more normal Mr John Citizens walking down the beach with awesome bodies as well, and some of these sacred "gods" of modern bodybuilding would stop being the "geneticallly gifted" ones. It would also stop the drug dealers selling fake and dangerous products, and the mafias who are making milliions publishing magazines and manufacturing supplements fooling young men to believe they could ever become like Dorian Yates. If cosmetic surgery, liposuction, and all the like are legal, and they do really imply some danger, I don't understand why aren't performance enhancing drugs be considered the same and become legal with medical supervision. Sorry if I turned away from the topic. But I definitely agree that bodybuilding is not doing a favour at all to the thong cause by not allowing competitors to pose wearing thongs. If they are into showing off bodies and muscles, it doesn't make sense to cover the glutes, which are just another set of muscles. It's like if they are saying that glutes or thongs are something to be ashamed of. John Howard |

So if guys used to wear thongs in the 1930's and 40's when did thongs become taboo? |

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:03/23/2005 03:41:52Copy HTML I think thongs became taboo in the 60's when men's bodybuilding tried take away the eroticism and gain more respectability. Joe Weider at one time banned from competition any female bodybuilder who posed topless or nude. He has since rescinded that rule. Gentleman Jim Corbett, the Heavyweight Boxing Champion at the beginning of the 20th century wore a pair of boxing trunks that showed a lot of butt cheeks. |

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:03/29/2005 12:15:33Copy HTML Glutes are one of the most difficult muscle to develop. I don't get why hide these muscles under the Rio suit, to then try to show it by forcing a weidge.

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:05/03/2005 12:36:13Copy HTML Many have assumed or asked if I was a bodybuilder, and I always say no. I'm just a guy who likes to stay in shape, so I say I'm a "fitness enthusiast" but thanks for asking. Like Sun4Bare, I'd like to think I'm doing my part to help the cause, and I'm willing to bet that the individual competitors would embrace thong posing suits in a second. You already see a few them in Magazines. However wide-spread acceptance by those who are competition organizers will be slow to happen. In the Mid 90's thongs were very common on fitness competitors/models (different from bodybuilders) but alas, many fitness competitions and magazines deteriorated into little more than T&A shows. (don't get me wrong, I LUV T&A

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:07/21/2011 04:05:26Copy HTML on this bodybuilding website, most of the posters agree that bodybuilding should give a step forward and allow thong posing suits on competitions, there is even a trend that supports bodybuilders posing in competitions naked..
A lot of bodybuilding competitions in Europe allow men (and women obviously) wearing thongs posing suits. Some photos here apparently testify it. It would be time to stop penalising the glutes muscles in bodybuilding; they work so hard and they are always hidden under fabric. Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:07/21/2011 12:55:03Copy HTML I workout with a lot of bodybuiilders. They all agree that the Glutes are a muscle group and they all work on developing them. I have never broached the subject of thongs with them, but i tend to believe that they would be supportive

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:08/26/2023 08:34:13Copy HTML Observing numerous females in the gym doing glute bridge, cable leg raises, kettlebell deep squats. All for to build their gluteus maximis. The gals wear leggings that accent their glutes. Glutes and legs often are oversized not proportional to the rest of the upper feminine body. The select few which are plenty enjoy showing their glutes in leggings exposing as much stretched lycra fabric as she can wear in the back. Most of these gym rat divas f have natural genetics having plump bottom often covered with excess fat giving that size. Rarely see gal with total muscle and tight glutes. Seen fairly intermediate gal in leggings fit thick bottom legs and glutes. She celebrates showing off her glutes in leggings around the gym floor and when entering dry sauna next to the pool. As gal and me spent time on the gym floor working out separately. I entered the pool attired in my bulge thong standing in the dry sauna. The same gal from the gym entered using the sauna certainly noticed me but was subtle with any reactions. She sat down virtually ignored me but had to notice when i walked out of the sauna and climbed into the pool as i swam. Gal later left the facility wearing her gym outfit as she had on in the sauna without any regard to what she witnessed make thonger. Started to think why don’t gals (gym rats) i observe in the gym floor building their glutes. Ever see them use the pool or local beach in which they are thonging. Many females are confident wearing leggings showing their big butts enjoy makes ogle them on the gym floor even smile at themselves looking in the mirror at their buttocks. When it comes to pool usage or beach time gals are M.I.A . Often notice gals smile as they wedge their leggings higher on the waist. They smile ir grin enjoying male scanning them over as they stand in the middle of gym floor to be noticed. |

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:08/28/2023 06:55:50Copy HTML I can only think of two words why they don’t expose bare skin on the beach Mack, tan lines. |

Re:Thongs in Bodybuilding Date Posted:08/28/2023 05:38:09Copy HTML MartyLouie, Don’t know if tan lines matter since almost all spray tan. True that bodybuilders skin is often pale ghost like test round until they compete. Could be afraid of the sun like a vampire. Yet they expose themselves to unnatural hormone level using drugs and extreme diet before contest which is unhealthy. Most gals i see the gym rat divas rarely ever compete in bodybuilding. Maybe they are so unhappy with the way their glutes appear in a thong rather hide imperfection with spandex leggings material. Not uncommon for bodybuilders have body dismorphia. Took pic of myself at the beach wearing a g-string to observe if my straps are even on both sides. yuk how my glutes appear in that close up selfie. Yet from a distance or in the mirror glutes look okay. Many bodybuilders feel body perfection is the goal and rarely ever achieve it naturally. Finding only the flaws we observe and project that onto others as well.. |
