In the latter part of the 1980s mens thongs were in all the shops, BHS had a huge display of them, M&S, Top Shop, River Island, the department stores were selling Hom and Sloggi, they were all over the high street, that was when I started wearing thongs. This must have been part of the fashion of the time and men would have been faced with the option of buying a thong every time they were out shopping, this was just a normal life for a normal man and it was fine to be open about your choice of underwear. So why do we now get judged as gay or somehow deranged if we had decided back in 1988 that wearing thongs was actually a good thing to do and had stuck with that throughout life.. As fashions evolve I am sure that one day thongs will make a comeback but until then 'keep thonging'

I fondly remember that time too. I'd started buying skimpy underwear and swimwear via mail order (Kiniki mostly), but clearly remember when they first started selling at first tanga briefs in several stores, then a bit later, thongs too, the fashions generally following women's styles of the time. They were so widely sold that you could buy from most big chains. I know Debenhams still sell some thongs, but I can't imagine shops like Markies ever selling them again. I suppose the rise of internet shopping means that anything not regarded as 'mainstream' is now the sole reserve of online retailers.

Hi Dr S, as you say Debenhams still sell and Freemans sell a pack of five but if they were hung in every shop like they were then men would not think it so much of a big deal buying them to try, as it is now you have to go online, a lot of men don't even know that mens thongs exist so how can they give it a go..

Yes, I bought thongs from High Street stores in the 80s including Debenhams, Burtons, BHS, Asda (George), Littlewoods and C&A. Now you find it hard to get anything on the High Street but boxers and boxer briefs. It's not been as as problem as you can buy far sexier styles online than the stores ever sold.

I am on vacation in Destin and Alvins Island has two racks of thongs for sale. They started last year displaying but for years you could not find them. They are definitely coming back in style. I will see today if anyone on the beach is wearing. My wife will give me hell if I do since she says  Destin is a family beach. Too bad!

These look great; would love to wear these, but as a guy would they fit? $73 is a lot to waste if they don't!

P.S. Several very nice swimsuits, but the ones I meant to say I'd love to wear were the Isa Boulder Joni High Leg bikini briefs. Still waiting to hear about sizing.

I decided to take the risk, and ordered large (only size left) for my 36 inch waist, and they fit perfectly.  They look great as panties, not sure whether meant for swimming.  Generally, female panties are much nicer than men's - maybe I'll take the chance again sometime.

Another article saying thongs are out of fashion---this wasn't meee naming this-- they now want everyone to wear BKB big knicker bikinis!! Of course this is the usual "churn" in fashion so people buy new stuff all the time-- at least landfills won't fill up with the small thongs https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/8381035/thongs-out-of-style-caprice-bourrett/

The only ways thongs are out of fashion is women going commando or wearing spanx. 10 years ago at the mall you could tell most women were going commando.

Julia Fox modeling a thong exposing dress- well I'd call it an Uncover UP. It's a dress that has a huge cut out to show her thong body! Can't wait until this is a real mainstream fashion!! https://www.bustle.com/style/julia-fox-visible-thong-trend

Kanye hass had his wifey wearing a "nude" bodysuit all over Europe lately. She's now at Milan Fashion Week and wearing a thong body suit something like I've acquired last year- the male version more narrow, but you have some fabric around your upper torso. Hers seems to be an autoematic design!! Her's off the shoulder, male version over the shoulder. Hers has "invisible" sides to hold it together Here's the male version, no sides! https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803105176858.html?s Here's the female version https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12527513/Bianca-Censori-scenes-Kanye-West-snaps-racy-photo-new-wife-shows-major-boob-white-bodysuit-fitting-London-Fashion-Week.html

Great link to the male version Buddy, thank you. ‘Alter’ used to make a slingshot very similar to this, of which I have a couple that I’ve been looking to replace but as they no longer make the style I’ve been struggling, I’ll defiantly be ordering a couple of these…..

I have bought a white thin nearly sheer version and then a lacy fabric that's partially see thru which is a bit daring as your C and B can be seen if you stare! I'm not a fan of feminizing lace suits but this one uses the lace in a ?manly way! Oh and it's pretty tan thru....something I wanted in the white one too ass there would be a weird tanline from wearing it all day. Here's a link https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2255799882723307.html?

Another great link, thank you ‘sailor250’ I’m liking the look of this one too… Shame they are so tan thru though… nothing beats sporting a TOTALLY unique tan line!!!!

I am glad I have Cocksox swim trunks mixed in with my collection of their swim briefs and swim thongs. I also wear www.the-bikini.com tear drop g-strings where permitted. I believe I have all the bases covered, depending on the venue, rules, laws, etc.

Of course the first picture they show is of a grossly overweight man striking a pose in a bikini, followed by younger guys in bikinis in goofy poses. Ugh--does it ever end!? A positive article about women liking men in bikinis but accompanied by negative pictures of men. Will the press's contradictions never cease? It seems we men can never see an article about minimal men's swimwear without a negative "yeah but...." in it. And can we dispense with the term budgie smugglers (or banana hammocks or speedos or...) and just call them bikinis? It's like women now have the exclusive use of the words bikini, thong, and g-string.

Found this in my feed and had to share.
