We have not had to put out a call for donations for the last couple of years.

An alert from Aimoo.com let me know we are running out of 'page views'.
When this runs down to zero we get annoying advertisements scattered in with the text.

When I went to apply funds for another block of 'page views' I noticed we need more funds in the account to buy the larger blocks, which give us the best deal.

If you have the ability please make a donation.
Look for the Green button on the top left of the main page, or follow this link: http://forum1.aimoo.com/ThongBoard/Forum_donation.html

None of the money goes to me personally, it all goes to Aimoo.com,
who then hold the balance in an account for this board,
so that I can later apply the funds to the page view charges, when a block runs out.

The board is now 12 years old.
We have over 5,000 threads with more than 55,000 replies, making 60,000 posts.
It has helped me find thong brands and sources along with information on beaches and laws,
but just as important has been the sense of community and shared support.

To keep it going we need to pay the piper, pay for blocks of page views from Aimoo.com

Some of you are generous in your support of this community.
Thanks for your continued support.
If you are able to donate something this year please follow the link:  http://forum1.aimoo.com/ThongBoard/Forum_donation.html
Thanks

So I donated some money... what a mistake.  I was a little leery when I did not see an https url, but figured what the hell, this site has been up for so long, I enjoy it and use it so I should contribute, and everything will be fine.  Wrong!!!  After clicking on send payment, within 1 sec I get a message on my phone from BofA telling me my card has been restricted, and am asked to call them.  After holding for 10+ minutes, I am finally told that my card has been compromised, and is now void (apparently my donation went through, but my card is now toast).
I will receive a new card in the mail in about 5 business days, but until then I have a problem.  I can get a temporary card if I go to the bank and request one, but the biggest issue is I have a number of auto-pay accounts set up for tolls, public transport, cell phone, iTunes and more, all of which I will have to spend time changing my billing info for when I get a new card.
The group that runs this board is in China, and I guess I should have known better when I did not see a Paypal option.  BofA says the charge showed up for Games ??? London.  Sorry to discourage others from donating.  I hope this issue can be fixed.  I don't want anyone else to have to go through this mess.

jm_runs should probably create an alternate method for donations. maybe a separate paypal account for the members of thongboard to be able to donate or some other way to donate there must be many other ways. it would be a shame for the site to get shutdown.

Aimoo.com once supported direct payments by paypal.  They don't any more.  That is a shame.

If you want to use paypal we can use my paypal account to gather up individual payments and then make one Aimoo.com payment from my debit card. Send me a PM (Private Message) and I will send you my paypal email. (I dislike posting email address directly on the web because they are quickly found by spam bots.)

Also let me know exactly how much you sent so I can keep track of how much I then owe to the board.
(Otherwise the payments just get tangled up with my existing ebay/paypal traffic and I would have to go back and audit my transactions to do the accounting.)

JM- thx for all your hard work to keep this site going. I made a small donation but it doesn't come close to all the benefits I have received since the old pink screen days.

See my note above, where I said:

I don't know if I'd be the only one interested to donate if you added a bitcoin payment address, but I would then.
It seems the only major difference here between free and paid, is about file uploading. So, maybe the ones that enjoy the pictures people have on their profile should really considering donating.

Bitcoin? You must be dreaming. At this time they don't even take direct paypal.

But you can make Paypal payments to me, then I will make one joint consolidated payment.

JMI used the link you gave ( http://forum1.aimoo.com/ThongBoard/Forum_donation.html  ) to make a donation the other day using a visa card. It was  easy and I had no problems at all. Went very smooth. Hope more of you consider using it.

It seems the problem experienced by sandrhymes has not been reported by any other users. It seems his bank flagged his card because of the transaction cleared overseas.

Come on people, the board needs your support.

I was asked to post more about the year costs of running the board.

The board is hosted by Aimoo.com.

On Aimoo.com one can have a free board but with advertising, and free boards only keep the last 6 months of history,
OR, as we do, one can upgrade to a Diamond program that is add-free and keeps all our history.

We use the paid plain, to stay add free, and because when you want to research a beach for thonging you want to know what happened last year, or the year before.  By having ALL the prior posts about something at ones fingertips one gets a good feeling for a beach, or swimsuit brand.

Aimoo bills by page views. We burn through an amazing 1,000,000 views about every six months.

The funds donated to the board go into an account and show as a balance in the control panel.
When we need another block of page views I apply the funds from the account to purchase another block of page views.

The most cost effective way to buy the blocks of page views is the larger 1,000,000 block.
We need a new block of 1,000,000, at $120, about every 6 months,

So it costs about $20 a month, or $240 a year for Aimoo hosting costs.

If we burn through a block of page views I just apply another $120 of donations to get a new block of  1,000,000 page views.

If we don't have enough funds to purchase a new block I put out a call for donations.

In 2013 we had two generous donations of $100 each, from two different members,
which along with other good donations from other members meant we did not need to pass the hat in 2014.

At this time I hope we raise enough for two blocks of page views: That will cover us for another year.

I should point out that none of the funds go to me personally.
Funds donated to the board are collected and held by Aimoo.com

If you don't like the board payment system, and prefer to send funds via paypal,
I will provide my personal paypal email, collect them, and then make one payment for the lot.
