Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:06/13/2009 02:23:45Copy HTML In the 50s, 60s, and fading out in the 70s, nylon tank suits were worn. Speedo came out with a stretchy version sometime in the 60s I think. The former tank suits had about a 6 inch side to them and were more baggy than the "speedo". Divers and many swimmer wore swim jocks under the tank suit, since everything pretty much flopped around in there, even tho it was a relatively small area.
It was common to see a leg strap or waste band hanging out the top or bottom of one of those suits. It was often on purpose, probably steming from the same type of mentality as today's guys letting boxers show over the top of dorkshorts. Those old suits seemed to never wear out, and I still have many of my old tank suits, and on occasion I'll wear a swim jock with it. The wife kind of likes the look. |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:07/04/2009 11:37:42Copy HTML That we're even having this discussion depresses me. I'm only in my twenties, but I know that there was a time when nobody thought twice about showing a bulge. In fact, a lot of girls wouldn't be seen dead with a guy who preferred boxers at the beach or pool. And board shorts simply would have been considered weird enough that they'd want to have nothing to do with the guy. Most guys from teen years up wore skintight swim briefs at the beach or pool. They may not have been thongs or narrow side Speedos, but they certainly showed off your assets, and nobody thought twice. It was the same with jeans; your Levi 501s were expected to be tight and revealing. So I don't think any of us should be ashamed of showing a bulge. In fact, my girlfriend expects it. As for underwear, she doesn't object to me wearing boxer briefs as long as their form-fitting but she prefers bikini briefs or thongs.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:08/05/2009 03:55:20Copy HTML I have flopper suits for a big bulge, but I am also "a grower, not a shower" so I like the squeeze I get from gaff suits that tuck me in to a flat-front streamlined look. I added pictures on my profile of the suits I wear at the beach, and welcome comments.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:08/08/2009 04:15:52Copy HTML by simple anatomy, men have a bulge, some more than others. i always wear a xxxring with gstrings and thongs unless the gstring is so narrow in the front that you can see the xxxring visibly on each side. i do not know if its ok to show a xxxring or not but don't think predominately showing the xxx is acceptable. but to each his own.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:11/27/2013 06:26:37Copy HTML Personally all my thongs are bulge, zoom, push-up, whatever you wanna call it but all my thongs accent the goods in a moderate way, I personally like to show off that I'm a man and accent my jewels without it being totally out there or vulgar. For example the Joe Snyder bulge line is a very accenting bulge but I don't find it vulgar, same goes for the Muscleskins poser suits very bulging but not vulgar. Pushing it may be the Muscleskins torpedo suits or the Dore torpedo suits where it may be an offensive look for most people and it comes off as more perverted that expression your masculinity. So to me, at least in public, bulge suits are my preferred suits wile torpedo suits are more edgy and not for all audiences or public places.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:11/28/2013 02:19:24Copy HTML I am in complete agreement with novicethonger. When I go to progressive public beaches (south beach, atlantic city, oysterman beach, etc) I am fine with a muscleskins poser. The only time I wear a torpedo is at Gunnison beach which is clothing optional (and 95% of the people are totally nude). I think the poser is too offensive for the mainstream public. The poser makes it known that you are male...the torpedo shows how much of a male you are...LoL. I think for most people....that is too much information!!!

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:11/28/2013 06:42:33Copy HTML Absolute the same opinion as novicethonger and stanpuppy. Wearing a bulge-thong like Muscleskins' MP just feels and looks good.
Torpedo thongs is a bit too offensive for me, but I don't bother when other guys like wearing them. I always wear thongs like the Muscleskins MP to all types of beaches. I usually go to a not too crowded beach and only wear my thong when sunbathing; when beach-walking or swimming I wear a small bikini. When I'm on holiday I only wear (bulge)thongs, also when beachwalking and swimming. So my thonging behaviour depends a bit on the situation where I'm in because I don't want to attrackt too much attention. |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/02/2013 05:27:27Copy HTML bulge is men's equivalent of women's cleavage. The difference is that women are encouraged to show off their cleavage but men are not encouraged to show bulge. but there is a lot of hypocrisy regarding this as women often enjoy noticing a man's package and will often comment on it in the right social setting and men, much like women's feelings regarding another woman with an abundance of cleavage, will often feel a sting of "equivalency" if another men is showing more goods than they are. my junk is about normal but my pants I wear more fitted than other men and thereby show more bulge than other men. this I do within what other postings have called "not vulgar" and I have never had any negative comments from anyone and very positive ones from all the women I have been involved with. this amount of bulge carries through to my choice of swimwear, which btw board shorts are not: board shorts are BOARD shorts, shorts worn by surfers that just about everyone else has adopted as "swim" wear, but they are not swimwear. sure they can be worn while swimming, but so can be a business suit, still, they are not swimwear and there should be no shame wearing a speedo or less while swimming or sunbathing (which never made much sense to me, to wear something to cover up parts while the rest of me is exposed to the sunshine, what is after all so "private" about private parts that can't be shown publicly???). genuine swimwear will by its very nature show a certain amount of bulge, some more, some less, depending on manufacturer or cut, and none should cause any man to feel compromised by wearing one--although the "look at me" torpedoes types do come across on the vulgar side, but there is a time and place even for them.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/03/2013 03:23:46Copy HTML Today, to be fashionable and stylish men wear a more tailored pant leg.If you wear flat front pants you will show off more anatomy, this is the trend.I like the tailored look regardless of it showing bulge or not.
A few years ago men's dress slacks had front pleats that masked any bulge. The pleats also added a little extra fabric to hide a big fat ###. If your talking thongs... That's a different matter. With thongs it's all aboutdisplay, the bulge is what counts. For men a little extra fabric makes things "hang out" nicely. For women a little less material combined with tighter "T back" makes femininityshow a bit more. I like that look. |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/03/2013 03:32:11Copy HTML Some bulge is good. For me, my Muscleskins Posers are about the most bulge that I feel comfortable with. They have a good amount of lift without being entirely out. I have an N2N bikini with a c-ring that I once wore at SoBe that produces a generous amount of bulge but it is a little too much on a public beach. I certainly got alot of notice though. Missiles are out of the question for me.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/03/2013 09:55:21Copy HTML Great to see the varying thoughts and views on this issue, If we were all the same and all wore the same thing, how dull would life be!!!!
I like to be a little different, I love the unique look, feel and tan-line of the one-sided thong style and to date I've never seen another guy wear a one in public in areas that I've been tanning in. Seen pictures but not the real thing! I also enjoy showing myself off to the best of my ability, hence I wear of a xxxxring under any tanning/swim suit. This doesn't mean I overdo it when I go to my local or gym pool, but I do like a good profile and nice definition, and a ring helps do just that, guys have junk down there, much as girls, in the right suit have boobs and/or camel-toe, its a fact of life, some girls like to show off their assets, I like to show a nice profile with good definition. Can't be one rule for them and another for us can it? In my mind there are 4 situations where swim/tanning wear is worn, here are my choices and opinions for those situations. 1. For swimming at public/family orientated pools a suit along the lines of a Speedo, Areana or Aussiebum is perfect, nice brief one inch sides, fullish back and good coverage up front even with a ring on, not an over pronounced bulge in any way but does give great definition which is the look I like and enjoy. 2. For tanning its a little different. If I'm tanning where a one-sided suit is not appropriate and because I like to wear at least one xxxxring, bulge suits are my best option. The narrow fronted styles that I like tend to gape at the sides and show my ring which is not always appropriate so Joe Snyder bulge thongs or Muscelskins posers are my suit of choice. In my opinion neither of these two styles is too much in areas where thongs are acceptable, yes they show you off up front a bit, but lets face it, you are showing off a little anyway by wearing a thong! The nice narrow but full covering pouch and great little triangle back make for a good look. 3. In areas where more extreme suits can be worn and a little bulging is OK it is either a very narrow fronted suit that shows a little xxxxring or a one-sided suit the same as my avatar picture, again I will wear a ring but there is just enough material in these suits to keep it covered if I choose too. These styles and my rings gets a fair bit of attention which I love, and to date it's all been positive so I can't grumble at that. These are the styles I wear in a quiet London park or at a quiet South Coast beach, I don't hide away when I wear them,I will walk down to the water and take a dip when foot traffic is light, I'm just considerate of others and tend not to pose around to much, that said I do enjoy being looked upon and photographed in these situations. 4. In totally appropriate areas of the park or beach, which I actively seek out, or at a private pool party say, I'll wear a torpedo with multiple rings underneath, this could be a one-sided or standard thong backed suit from Jovanna, Koala or Robert Carey depending on how brave I'm feeling! My one-sided suits from Robert Carey in this style are tiny, and I do mean TINY!!! I just love this look!!! To me it's what summer and tanning are all about..... Again I don't hide myself away I just find areas with very light or no foot traffic, if somebody does come across me it's because they have taken a detour to come and have a look, that's fine by me and I if I see them coming I'll make sure I'm laid on my back and giving the best show possible! With rings on there is absolutely no question what it's all about.....massive push-out and great, clear definition, even better in white, of which most of my torpedoes are!!! Love it!!! . A couple of my torpedo suits both standard and one-sided don't cover all of my rings, so not only is there a good bulge and display you get to see quite a bit of chrome too!!!! Being a bit of a showoff I adore this look and as ive said positively seek out places that I can wear it. It all comes down to respect and situation, in my opinion, yes I love my bulge suits and would wear them all the time if I felt I could, however, there is a time and a place for everything, I'm quite happy to give up 1/2 an hours tanning to find the right situation to wear mine.......So yes, in a VERY long winded way, and in answer to the question, Bulge all the way!! :-) |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/04/2013 05:34:44Copy HTML There is no single answer or set of answers to this question. Hotbunz1969 is right, it depends on the location. However I found that there are not well defined categories but a continuum from beaches where wearing anything but a full back is illegal to those locations where most anything will fly. The trick is in knowing both the legal aspects and the "vibe" of a particular venue and then wearing is comfortable for you. Many of the suits that I wear at South Beach I would never wear at most other locations until I got to know the venue very well and understood that it is OK there. Generalizations made from experience at location A are generally irrelevant at location B.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/04/2013 10:59:20Copy HTML Depends on the people you come across as well or vibe as you put it.... You really don't know who will see you wearing any particular swimsuit and react.... So you can't really say, this place i can wear my g-string but that other beach i need to cover up in dork shorts to be acceptable to others surrounding you....
Unless their is a law banning a thong then sure.... wear something more... Yet i find the bulge in my regular string rio is more evident with no lining sheer when wet then darker shade fabric of my low rise full back AQUX swimsuits... While i can wear a black conservative AC thong lined and be told to wear something different which will show a lot more up front then my thong....So any suits can show a big bulge not only a thong......
No matter what you wear a conservative speedo or g-string with a c-ring showing through you will get the same reaction from females, yuk or disgusting, don't want to see any of that etc..... If it's the women's boyfriend, hubby females don't need them showing off his banana hammock as many women i've heard said.... In my opinion if you decide to wear a speedo or tiny dore push g-string make your bulge prominent because the ladies are watching like it or not... If you sport it small then females begin to giggle thinking why on earth is he trying to prove or impress with that tiny penis... While prominently out and about showing a lot off, your laughed upon being huge and obscene ridiculed as a pervert or stared upon as a circus animal.....So their is a no win situation in sporting a bulge or not people will make up their minds and assumption of you like it or not... Best to do what makes you happy and not care what others think of you. Unless they stop you from wearing something they decide to be inappropriate, which is subjective to everyone.... |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/14/2013 03:08:35Copy HTML I think bmicro pretty much has it nailed, as far as there is no sweeping generalization with regard to an "absolute" answer. I answered it in the context of what is the norm for a public beach in the northeast. I have worn muscleskins sheer torpedo's......it just so happened that the times I have done it have been at Sandy Hooks Gunnison beach where 99% of the people around me were naked, so my suit was not really all that provocative. I have done a previous posting a while back about a trip I took to south beach and how (In my opinion) the people around me reacted very differently on the last day of my 5 day stay because I put a torpedo on (after using all my posers on the previous days). Sometimes wearing extreme suits can be fun its just how, in the context of the environment, you fit into the energy of the situation.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/15/2013 08:35:10Copy HTML Bulging and torpedo thongs are definitely not my thing nor are they okay in my opinion. The beach is not a place to show off your male parts. A nude beach is one thing but at a regular beach I think that needs to be discreet. I love wearing thongs to the beach and I do it frequently. But I do not think bulging for all to see is appropriate.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/15/2013 10:55:47Copy HTML I agree with 32189. The beach, in my opinion, is not the place for overt display. My beach gear is very brief but the object of the exercise is to cover, albeit briefly, those parts NOT on display. In addition if we are to succeed in getting mainstream approval for our chosen design of beach gear an overtly sexual display is perhaps not the best method.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/18/2013 07:50:35Copy HTML
Never going to achieve mainstream status, but inappropriate display is probably a good way to get all thongs banned from a particular location. The reason that I don't name individual thong friendly pools I regularly visit is the possibility, albeit unlikely, that some guy will turn up in an over the top suit and I'll suffer the consequences.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/18/2013 11:09:18Copy HTML I wish people would not bulge. Wear a suit that doesn't emphasize or push out your junk. These extreme suits just get a negative reaction from non-thongers (most of the time). By wearing thongs that aren't overtly sexual you go a long way towards garnering acceptance, which will result in more places we can thong over time. Hiding in the dunes in see through and bulge gear just makes you look pervey.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/20/2013 04:00:31Copy HTML Wearsthongs, I am like your point that by wearing thongs that are not overtly sexual we can get far in garnering acceptance. Thongs may never be mainstream but at least they are accepted. The last thing I would want is for thongs to be banned because some people are parading around in sexually suggestive thong attire.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:12/20/2013 07:55:27Copy HTML Any behaviour or swimwear that is overtly sexual is not conducive to the acceptance of thongs or minimal swimwear on any beach. ~ ~ ~ I do own and wear some thongs that show a moderate amount of bulge... these thongs provide full pubic area coverage. A few of these thongs I have had to 'tone down' the pointy part of the pouch with a little sewing work. Others just couldn't be reshaped for my comfort level and have been edited out of my collection. (My wife's opinion does matter a bit on this issue... if I get a general OK... I'm probably not going to offend most beach goers..... Happy is this thonger when she agrees with my choice!) ~ ~ ~ Of the thongs in my drawer... the most worn ones are the original width Joe Snyder's...( Enough room in the pouch for comfort but still reasonably modest) A few of the earlier MS Posers..( Again_ they were less pointy and I was comfortable wearing them on beaches where the other patrons were regulars). I've worn my Olaf Benz thongs just about anywhere... although I find the pouch a little flat...except for when the water is very cold! ~ ~ ~ ~ they are so beautifully crafted, that these too get the wife's nod of 'OK'... By now you can probably gather that she is not a thong aficionado... she is post 65 and developing that troublesome midriff expansion that many women experience in their senior years. For my body at this stage in my life... A slightly customized ThongBiker Sport Belt thong also works well for me... It has moderate lift and is not explicitly provocative in my opinion (The wife's/girlfriend's opinion does matter my friends! ) ~ ~ ~ I hope to have a few pictures of it posted after our Cuba trip in January 2014. ~ ~ ~ Merry Christmas to you all...

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/04/2014 05:40:34Copy HTML I agree with members who've proposed that pushing the bulge issue can be counterproductive to our desire to make thongs be seen as more acceptable. If you're at an adults only beach or nude beach, I say go for it, but overly pronounced genitals in a familial/conservative setting only supports the notion some hold that thongs are all about being sexual...rather than feeling comfortable or natural.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/04/2014 10:39:42Copy HTML Women who like to see my bulge are very subtle on the way they look upon me. In reality their perving because they only focus on the bulge but don''t want to admit it. Usually giggles follow or laughter ashamed of themselves in disbelief knowing they are being perverted looking at a males bulge...
Funny how i overhear women talk about me saying can you get a glance at his big thick penis head.... Usually they can't when up close but on my frisky days i let it show and the attention it brings me is almost embarrassing interfering doing my routine... Usually it's a split second view women get and sudden giggles erupt around me... So in other words women watch and notice seeing outlined penis or just a big bulge but the reactions vary.... Whatever the reaction be it long sudden hypnotic stares, or giggles of what they seen women for the most part enjoy the show. Rarely does a women complain or voices her opinion of disgust and that follows with other women smiling understanding but not sharing in the same negativity... Usually it's a solo women trying to shame me in group of women while the group don't mind looking upon my bulge or share the women's opinions. So even a negative voice can be comical knowing their the only female to complain while others watch enjoying the view.. The examples of reactions are endless with what i observed from women. If you have a good body and larger then average prominent bulge attention or the place you visit is yours to own... Laughter is a simple emotion to express for many reasons but underlying thoughts are lust, desire and appreciation to otherwise that are never seen out in public as the norm.. Whatever the location or populous some maybe negative but others are also vocal expressing the positive enjoyment they are viewing. Sometimes the two argue but at the end of it the positive people win through sheer personality and comical release then the negative serious uptight people.. At the end of it all it's only a human bodies form that everyone seen before some better then others or worse. In my case women seem to like to look for sheer inspiration or fantasy no matter if their married or single... Importantly everyone goes home with the people they came with, so no harm was being done by just admiring me or my bulge... Usually the male counterpart of the couple gets his ego damaged when the women he is with perv admiring my body. Yet i believe i'm doing a favor to many males knowing their women get urges later that night and they are the beneficiary of the women's fantasy's seeing me in the afternoon with bulge in hand... While smart women know they are being teased by seeing me and throw it back right at me with a bigger smile ... Some voluptuous women know how to use their bodies to give back everything i'm guilty of showing and more... This is where it becomes a sticky situation for both me and the women flaunting herself.. Almost always the women wins in that situation and i need to leave seeing to much before things get out of sorts if you know what i mean... If a sexy women has an inkling i'm up to exhibitionist standards she will bring every means to make it impossible for me to function by showing off her assets. Once the female shows me her assets i understand it's an awkward position to put someone in, believe me i know through experience.... Discriminating women like to play or tease with higher stakes to see more then a flacid discernible big bulge.. |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/04/2014 11:37:31Copy HTML I wear a Skinz thong. The newer t-back thongs have a full frontal seam that shows the right amount of shape and bulge for me. I always liked seeing and showing a bit of a bulge when wearing a swim brief, and the Skinz thong shows a bit more. I don't know if I would be comfortable in a suit like the MS Poser, plus I do live in the upper Midwest. I thong more for the tan and tan line than displaying my package, however I do have a prince albert and a rather large ring at that. My PA ring is readily visible in my thong and even in my brief (lap swimming) so maybe that is my bulge. I have not tried a c-ring, though, and I may try that to see what affect it has.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/05/2014 03:43:25Copy HTML It is a sad commentary when we refer to looking at any part of a human body as "perverted", whether it be a male bulge or a female cameltoe. Since when did admiration of what is normal and natural gain this distinction?

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/05/2014 07:11:26Copy HTML @bmicro: There is only one person on here who I know that refers to the human body as perverted. I think he often has perverted thoughts. As for myself, and I think many others, we are probably like you - we think of the human body as beautiful.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/07/2014 02:11:25Copy HTML For the attention of my haters on this forum.
Want to clarify using the term "perving" is not my idea of what thongers are all about or my nudist friends. Just that every time i overhear women talk they use the term to describe themselves or shame themselves as something they believe should not be seen in public... Maybe voyeur is a better term but personally don't feel i'm a perv nor any thongers or most part nudist i tend to see. For many others seeing a bit of skin is taboo, and yes i can't understand those modest people.... which they call themselves "normal".. I'm more liberal then most here seem to describe me. Last thing i find is getting upset or fussy about seeing human body, scars and all. Usually my reaction is no reaction towards others wearing a thong or nude, so what.. Most people describe me as dead to any provocative appearance, sort of difficult to impress or shock me... |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/08/2014 03:50:43Copy HTML I don't really know how to word this, but let me try. We men have to keep our penis in control and covered up our entire life. We wear underwear and pants to keep things covered up. We don't generally "bulge" in our daily clothing choices. Everything is kept nice and smooth and appropriate for public viewing. I think when we finally get the opportunity to wear something brief (thongs, g strings, bikinis), it's like we are finally getting to release our little guy from bondage and unashamed to do it. For me, having a bulge in swimwear is a bit of a release. Finally, I can let that little guy out of its cage and create a bulge to put on display. I guess totally nudity is the ultimate freedom. Wearing brief swimwear is the next best thing to total freedom. It is exhilarating and makes me feel good. Maybe having a bulge for public viewing might be the most thrilling part of wearing brief swimwear. Otherwise, I think we all would be wearing dork shorts.

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/08/2014 05:35:05Copy HTML Mack back,
I doubt that there is anyone on this forum that hates you personally. We do, sometimes, get a little concerned by your means of expression and the negative content of some of your posts. You are obviously not conveying your personal attitudes, but are expressing the attitudes that you imagine others around have, which are different from your own. Speak about yourself, not the imagined "they" out there. |

Re:To Bulge or Not to Bulge Date Posted:01/08/2014 10:45:09Copy HTML I agree with most here, in that unless you are in an especially uninhibited environment, don't bulge. I understand how you guys enjoy it, and the freedom or excitement that you get out of it, but in the wrong place it can have a negative impact for other thongers. Let me give you two examples.
An adult resort, a clothing optional beach, a spring break beach... Do whatever you want. Some people will probably be receptive to the idea or at least entertained instead of offended. A beach where locals and families go where thonging isn't especially common. A suit that looks like a brief from the front generally won't get many upset enough to complain. Even when they see it's a thong, people are pretty neutral about butts. Butts are not really thought of a private part, just that it's a uncommon for people (men AND women) to bare them in public. Think about TV. You can show a butt but not the junk. We grow up with this, we are used to it. But wear a suit that's semi transparent or that sticks out your junk and you are going to get a different reaction from some people. What's worse, is when they complain to the park, the people are not going to say "I saw a bulge suit and it was obscene for around my children, please ban bulge suits" they are going to say "I saw a man in a thong and it was disgusting, please ban thong swimwear". The act of bulging screws over all thongers in this situation. |
