Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:03/01/2021 09:38:17Copy HTML With pools reopening in mid April Here are a few questions
1. What are you intending to wear . Myself , mainly Kiniki Andres and will try to wear my white and yellow bikinis . But I have ordered a 3/4 inch classic with lean seat from muscleskins so I hope that will be wearable
2. What is the smallest bikini you have worn? Myself , I’ve worn a joe Snyder clip in navy in a busy Newcastle pool but my present clip is light blue and maybe a little too obvious for uk . Personally Im Not into thongs in uk pools for me anyway .
Take care all

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:03/02/2021 10:29:06Copy HTML Well done gsj ! I would feel too self conscious in a kini or Capri . Have you honestly never been challenged or had problems wearing stuff that small ? In fuerteventura just before dinner when the pool was quiet I did swim in a joe Snyder thong and it felt great but things are pretty relaxed there ...The clip is more conservative than the Capri of course ... I may have a rethink about the clip and see if I’d be comfortable in that

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:03/03/2021 10:08:35Copy HTML N44 - I find it all a question of just acting normally, ie there is nothing out of the ordinary in what I choose to wear as far as I am concerned.
Also as has been mentioned before I simply change into my pool gear, get in the water for my laps, & get out. No question of strutting around & etc. I pass the time of day with regulars quite normally. Never had a comment from any of them.
Same attitude on the beach where the Snyder Kini is the absolute maximum I will wear - normally a good deal less.
Have courage - give it a go!

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:04/12/2021 08:04:14Copy HTML It is quite difficult to get a swim in a pool, because hotels here restrict use to guests or existing members of their leisure. I can get a session in a massage pool with several different stages, but no facility for swimming lengths, so may give that a try. I have always worn a tiny g string for massages in beauty salons, so presumably a g string type swimsuit would be OK in a massage pool.

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/08/2021 06:36:14Copy HTML I am heading back to the pool at the start of next week. I have bought some new suits from a manufacture that I have not tried in the past. I have chosen a selection of one piece Kona thong back suits for Lap swimming. One solid print, one sheer and one large net. I am quite excited to be heading back into the pool and wearing my new suits. My husband has not seen them yet and it will be interesting what he says when he sees them drying on the washing line. I know he loves me being an exhibitionist. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/10/2021 11:27:49Copy HTML I'm too much of a coward to wear anything briefer than my 5cm side Speedos in my local public pool. However there's a hotel a few miles away which has a gym and pool, where I try something briefer. Before the lockdowns I was wearing one of my Kiniki Tan-through swim micros. The first time I bought one and held it up to the light I thought it was bound to be see through, and they are slightly, but because of the patterns you'd have to look closely to see anything. But it still gives me a bit of a turn on to wear something so insubstantial in public.
I still haven't worn a thong there as I've never seen anyone else wearing anything even nearly as brief as my suits, but I've got a pair of these arriving this week, and I thought I might give them a try: https://bit.ly/3bfGviB |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/20/2021 09:35:53Copy HTML Just back from an early visit to the Gym and pool this morning. It is all very different having to book a time slot and be limited on how long we can stay. But I guess it is better than not being able to go at all.... Today's swimwear for lap swimming was a Malibu Strings Kuna one piece thong suit. My husband bought me several of these a month or so back. With no one else in the pool I felt that the wide hole mesh suit was suitable. Back home now and the suit has been rinsed and is drying on the washing line. Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/22/2021 01:14:30Copy HTML I had a wonderful gym and swim session late Friday evening. The pool was slightly cool earlier in the week. Pre Covid my husband had bought me a suit from Japan. It is made from thin thermal /latex/rubberised material. It was intended for snorkeling in the Med. It has a very high neck and a rear zip. Think Speedo Hydrasuit but with a thong bottom. It is extremely tight fit, like a second skin, not the easiest to pull on and off. The rear zip is a challenge. Obviously is not sheer like my other suits but it very comfortable and warm. It is however very shiny, almost fetish looking....still, I enjoyed wearing it for my laps and will definitely wear it again. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/22/2021 02:04:00Copy HTML swimbabe, when racing triathletes need to get out of their wetsuit as quickly as possible, so use a zip leash to help pull the zip up and down.
https://yourbagtag.com/products/yourziptag-wetsuit-zipper-pull
Often tri wetsuits are very tight so some use baby powder on the inside to make sliding in easier, or put thin disposable shopping bags over hands and feet to help them slide into the arms and legs. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/24/2021 09:19:01Copy HTML Hotel pools are fine for thonging providing you stick to a few rules. Choose quieter times in adult sessions rather than family swims. Keep behaviour strictly appropriate. Do not wear see through swimsuits that expose genitals. I’ve found if you stick to these basics then the British public will never utter a word! You may get the occasional look or giggle but nothing more. I’ve thonged at so many hotel pools and people really don’t seem to care.
Try the Hussle app and also booking.com for finding pools in an area, you can often buy guest passes. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:11/08/2021 11:38:17Copy HTML I recently had a stopover in Aberdeen and stayed at the Village Resort hotel and spa. Arriving late on a wednesday evening the pool was relatively busy and all of the females in the pool had on thong bikinis. It was like a uniform of some sorts. The crowd was very much late 20's to mid 30's gym and fitness fanatics. Seeing as that was the standard I joined in the following morning in my olab benz turqouise sun string. 20 lengths completed, jacuzzi, and sauna and not one person batted an eyelid or said anything. It was a much older crowd at the time of the morning but i honestly dont think they cared. Felt great to have that freedom, although just as i was leaving a chap came in with a young kid. Maybe comments would have been made at that point. You never know. It would seem the later hours and younger crowd are more thong friendly. It's a shame i'm not there more often. Hopefully I will have more luck at the university gym pool now that thong swimwear and cheeky swimsuits are alot more common on females. Last time i was told "it was not appropriate swimwear". Couldn't be arsed arguing with the manager and didn't want to cause any issues. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:11/30/2021 12:05:07Copy HTML I now wish I'd known about thonging in hotel swimming pools. A few years ago - before my interest in thonging had really grown admittedly - my job role used to take me to multiple hotels on a weekly basis. Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:09/21/2022 09:39:31Copy HTML Latest update on the university pool, have thonged numerous times over this summer with next to no issues and no negative comments whatsoever. Have worn 2 pool friendly thongs, a kiniki st tropez in navy and a collusion swim thong from asos in black. Both are lined which is helpful.
Didnt get a chance to swim in either but have visited the sauna and steam room multiple times a week. First time i braved it one of the pool attendants radioed it in cause "we have a guy in a thong" was the message i heard over his radio. After 20 mins in the sauna i was greeted by 4 members of the gym staff including the manager all standing near my towel but not in a way as to cause suspicion to any of the other pool guests. I walked straight through the middle of them, grabbed my towel watching cooly and calmly to the shower area. Not a single word was said. I suspect they wanted to ensure it was swimwear rather than underwear as that is a strict no no. Even as i was walking out the person that had radioed in "my swimwear choice" gave me a cheeky goodbye on the way out.
Ever since then i have not had any issues or "reviews" seeing as they are very common for females and multiple staff members wear them too.
Who knows if i will continue into autumn with it, new term time means alot more people around and i really cant be arsed with the potential comments. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:09/22/2022 12:25:19Copy HTML @zilla83,
You wrote that the pool attendant radioed that you wore a thong.
This often happens. It may has several reasons :
1 : the staff does not know if the rules authorize thong or not.
If there are others thongers (generally women) they don't asks themselves this question. But if the staff is new or is not used seeing thongs, they may ask their colleagues what are the rules.
It happens to me often when there is a new lifeguard during winter. However, it happens to me less and less because there are more and more women with swim thongs so lifeguards know it is OK (if it is OK for women, it is OK for men : double standard is not possible)
2 : we face prejudices about men in thong.
When a lifeguard see a woman with a thong, he may thinks immediately she is a hot woman, and she want to flirt with men, etc.
When a lifeguard see a man with a thong, he may thinks immediately the man is an exhibitionist. So, first times, they keep an eye on you to check your behaviour.
It happens to me sometimes. That is the reason why my tips is to swim quickly as soon as I arrive in the pool. So lifeguards understand I come to swim and I wear only conservative thong.
3 : sometimes, they just want to give an opportunity to their female colleagues to oggle a man in a thong.
There are so much women in thongs and so few men in thongs. When there is a man in a thong, they want to balance.
It happened to me sometimes.
4 : sometimes, lifeguards are bored, very bored. Their work is very boring. So, when there is something new, it wakes up them and they have something to bla-bla. You can't imagine how they coment everything between themself because they have nothing else to do.
I am not ingenuous. I am sure they chat behind my back about my thong. But, after a while, your thong is not new anymore and they chat about an other subject.
But, whatever the reason is, the most important is they let you wear your thong.
No ban, no coments ! And so you can thong openly and freely.
The more you thong, the less reactions you will notice. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:09/22/2022 05:34:39Copy HTML Does it make a difference wearing a thong in outdoor setting or indoor?
Find all outdoor public pools have general policy for all ages. This means more children and families populate the pool as increase of number of lifeguards.
Indoor public pools have time limit and segregation for youth/family and adult swim sessions. Less life guards on duty.
Private indoor swim pools such as my gym have no lifeguards and adult memberships, no time limits. Only maximum amount of swimmers allowed is 10 on the pool deck.
Only because of the limit many have no patience to wait to use the pool unless that is only reason visiting the gym.
Also less people can view someone wearing swimwear without causing a fuss.
More likely to be populated by males using the pool. Females maybe disgusted or the type of men using the pool and deem it unsanitary to use by themselves.. Heard female wearing towel around her torso was walking to use dry sauna off the deck of the gym pool. While aqua class was going on other areas of the facility can be used such as whirlpool and genderless sauna. Felt this authoritarian aqua instructor was tough on female but with the likes of me kept quite. Only general manager of the pool will ask me to wear more when using pool. Guessing problem aqua instructor had was with her. class in session i distracted many woman in the pool as i used shower and walked into the sauna. Frustrated aqua instructor had to move in front of me while i showered on the pool deck blocking the class from ogling my body. Her voicing to keep their eyes on her.. So as i changed to wearing thongs from swim briefs i got manager lady to ask me wear more using the pool. Since my thongs were modest in style, coverage was more in the front then the briefs. Since thongs look to be more provacative i was easy target to outlaw thong swimwear in the pool. More i used the gym pool facility on daily basis and same time of day. Gym members get tired observing same bloke wearing unique swimsuits other then dork shorts. Today i wear thongs exclusively to gym pool without incident. After my pool session i was in the exclusive male sauna next to change room showers. Standing inside the sauna overheard two guys voicing in displeasured tone. One asking another who exited the sauna. “Is he in there” meaning the sauna. Other male who just walked out replied, “he is always here“. Male opened the sauna door seeing me gave uh huh mumble as to verify his buddy was correct to my presence in the sauna. Found that odd my presence disturbs some gym members since i wear only desmitt thong. While other males maybe naked or wearing cotton underwear or towels. Not to mention others smell horribly unlike myself being clean and scent free. Only best guess why i get negative vibe by members is gay males might be having sex using the sauna at late night hours since the gym is open 24 hours. Many looking at my physique attributes and thong swimwear some can assume i’m participating in gay sexual orgies and sexual nature all because how i appear. Easy to assume observing other males watchful upon my body lurking unusually to catch me changing or stare upon my body in sexual manner. If you dangle carrot to gay male eyes to observe it’s no surprise friends of gay community gossip needing to see it for themselves. Straight male wearing thong can lead to be generalized as flirt towards growing community of gays gathering in location for simple intrigue or lust and desire. Other straight males resent the fact well built groomed male always attending aqua facility encourages strange uncomfortable behaviour in change room or sauna area. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:09/23/2022 09:19:07Copy HTML Mack_back asks a good question : does it make a difference between outdoor and indoor pool...
In Europe, outdoor pool are opened only during summer, except a few "nordic pools".
Indoor or outdoor pools... each one has advantages and disadvantages.
Outdoor pools :
++ there are a lot of women wearing swim thongs. So it is easier to wear a thong when there are other people with swim thongs
++ you can use the gender equality argument
++ you can use the "tanning" argument
-- a lot of families, rednecks, etc. They may make coments about your thong swimwear
-- outdoor pool may be crowded, so need to be brave enough
Indoor pool :
++ only swimmers, few families, no redneck. So no coments about your swim thong.
++ less people
-- few girls with thong, so you may be the only one.
-- no "tanning" argument. On the other hand, I use my "choice" argument. It is my way of life.
Be aware of the rules. Some pools authorize thongs obnly during summer, for the outdoor pools and forbid them during winter in the indoor pool.
What I prefer, are "nordic pools". You have all the advantages of the indoor pool and all the advantages of the outdoor pool. But I can count on my fingers the "nordic pools" in my country. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:09/23/2022 04:19:40Copy HTML Question about night swims versus daytime?
Excuses wearing thongs for suntan is mute after certain hour or cloudy days in outdoor pool.
Outdoor pools i visited often close at 8pm only when heatwave extending times until 11 pm.
You can guess the type of visitors be more adult oriented or teens.
Families unlikely to frequent with younger children.
Adults working can get a chance to cool off at late evening hours not rushed worried about closing time.
Another query is time of day what is most comfortable time to thong? Friday night or weekends during the day.. In the past visiting outdoor pool in early evening mid week hours 6-8pm with abundance of daylight before sunset. Tanning isn’t likely option since suns rays are weak and air temperature cooler compared to heated outdoor pool.
Mentioned nordic pool does it make any sense to wear thongs with colder temperatures. This can lead to lot of shrinkage best off to wear bodysuit for insulation.
More likely for pools being busier in the summer months overall use then winter.
As more outdoor pools open in summer likely to be more
use and visitors then indoor pool in dead of winter..Having only 58 outdoor pools and water parks in my city. Versus 60 indoor pools and various aquatic centers. Used three different aquatic indoor centers outside the city. Only because i wouldn’t be recognized by finding someone i know. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:01/26/2023 04:17:46Copy HTML Yes the hotel was a good experience.
It was quite simple really. I asked them if it was ok to wear bikinis and then asked about thongs and they said no problems (at the pool desk). Took it further and said for men too and they said no problems again . Only nudity isn't allowed . From what I understood for UK hotels, a lot of women wear thongs at the pools so they don't stop them and if guys want to, it's should be all right given that they can't have double standards here. Most of the the time, they don't really care.
Btw , the same thing happened at Hilton at the Edinburgh airport too . Asked the receptionist about wearing a thong and he said it's all cool. Even had a nice conversation with another female in my thong where she said it was quite ok to wear a thong here.
At this point, I have no fears about trying out my thongs at any hotel provided there aren't kids nearby. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:04/30/2023 11:59:41Copy HTML Had an interesting experience earlier today. I met up with the ex wife to take our 6yo daughter to a public swimming session at our local municipal pool.
This is a venue that has public and lane swimming sessions and operates a booking system ever since Covid lockdowns. Due to it being council run, not having adult sessions, and being in my smallish home town it was not somewhere I would have considered for thonging.
Upon my arrival at the poolside, the first thing my ex does is point out to me the 20something f in a OPT, letting me know her disapproval of the f doing so in a family session. In the meantime, the f is minding her own business while doing lengths.
I of course feign disinterest while making mental notes of the intel that my ex tells me. She attends this pool on a regular basis as she takes swimming lessons there. Apprently OPT-wearer is usually there in the lane sessions after the family swim ones. What's more she has a selection of skimpy outfits. Needless to say, I did my best to get a decent view while hiding that I was doing so. So as far as I could make out it was a high cut one piece with either a very cheeky or thong rear. I hoped to get a decent look when she got out of the pool. But I missed that chance as she rapidly wrapped a towel around her waist.
In the meantime, I had a good look around and found that quite a lot of the females were wearing a mix of rather nice cheeky cut one and two piece suits. Meanwhile, all the men were wearing shorts. As for me, I was wearing the dork shorts the ex had given me years ago when we were still together. I certainly was not going to opt one of my more recent skimpier choices. That would have resulted in a bit of a scene.
Naturally, one of the first things that I did when I got home was to book my own lanes session when I have a chance to encounter OPT-wearer again. I think I'll opt for one of my minimalist items and see how I get on. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/07/2023 03:07:04Copy HTML Well I've made a return visit to the same venue and can consider it a partial success. I booked a lanes session and opted for my Muscleskins Poser bare seat with 3cm sides in navy blue. It's the most conservative of my skimpy suits which I considered a good one to start with. kept an eye for any reaction from the other men in the changing room and not an eye was batted. When I went into the shower before going into the pool, the parent supervising the young children spoke to me briefly (he was offering me the use of a shower that worked better), if he noticed my attire he didn't care.
I got in and did my lengths without incident, all the other swimmers focussing on doing their lengths too. Upon returning to the shower, some of the men stripped down to their birthday suits unabashed in order to shower properly. My one disappointment was that there was no sign of the OPT wearer from last time. Maybe because it's the coronation weekend and she has other plans. I shall have to return another day, in which case I may consider my Rio suit and see how that goes. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/10/2023 10:45:18Copy HTML I was doing an online recce of Chipping Norton Lido, when I found this in the Your Visit section of their site: https://chippylido.co.uk/about-chippy-lido/your-visit-at-chippy-lido/
The good news is that they are most unequivocal in their rules. The bad news is that thongs are banned and the dress code is for a family environment. So disappointingly this will have to be a place to avoid. |

Re:UK swimming pools Date Posted:05/11/2023 10:48:21Copy HTML Boomshanka - CN lido a bit muddled! 'All swim wear is allowed' & 'Thongs are not allowed' appear in same paragraph!!!
Maybe try a brief bikini & test the waters so to speak. |
