However, just across the border in NC the Town of Sunset Beach allows thongs because the police chief doesn't want his people to be the thong police ( his words). Then there is the Bird Island Coastal Reserve where once you are past the town limits, women are legally allowed to free the nipples as neither Brunswick County nor North Carolina have laws against being topless. One bit of weirdness is that about 20 acres or so along the Little River Inlet at the jetty are in Horry County.
