By now, at the tail end of August many have given up going to the beach (I have); furthermore, those who have gone and have found it void of thongs and g-strings are unlikely to return as they (maybe) feel it isn't thong friendly.What every beach needs is locals. Those commited to go all the time, male and female. Not one or two but many, of different ages, not a group but many individuals and pairs and small groups spread out through out the beach, or at least a few blocks.What Venice has always had is just lots of tourists who bring their beach traditions to LA whether from Brazil or Germany (or maybe from Peoria and are feeling daring and want to do here what they can't do at home). But they too need encouragement from locals that tell them "it's OK to thong here".If we coordinate maybe we can have a predetermined day(s) and times for the building of a local atmosphere (but not necessarily to meet up, but rather to be in the general company of). Tuedays, Thursdays, noon to 4PM between Fleet St. and Lighthouse St. Who's in?Armand.

Not perverts (you know, walking around touching themselves, staring at others), but normal people just hanging out as others are hanging out. Venice has never really had a group of locals. Locals at Venice come and go and change from year to year. Interestingly enough, the ones I recognize every summer are the perverts, the cruisers who wear a towel around their neck and walk up and down the beach all day long, back and forth, stopping to stare at the girls (or guys!) wearing thongs/g-strings. What Venice has always had is just lots of tourists who bring their beach traditions to LA whether from Brazil or Germany (or maybe from Peoria and are feeling daring and want to do here what they can't do at home). But they too need encouragement from locals that tell them "it's OK to thong here". Also with the Patriot Act it has also made it more difficult for internationals to travel to the USA or shun the USA with a "why bother!" Thanks Patriot Act, we have lots to fear from a cute young Brazilian girl that is packing g-strings in her carry-on bag! Note I'm a tourist. Have no idea of the coordinates by the street names you gave, but where I was, there were three other thongers in easy sight, plus two more I passed near the pier. Not a real shortage today! So anyway, I did my part... but that's it until next years Ca visit! |

I was disapointed that we only saw two thongs, both women. I just thought there would of been more.

Re：Venice Beach, CA Contacts Date Posted：09/02/2005 12:26:40Copy HTML i made it out on thursday. beautiful day on the beach after the haze cleared. very quite day there and i think that i may have been the only thonger which is fine with me - i took the opportunity to take a nice long walk in my dore vlc. usually i take my walks in a pair of speedo type briefs, but because there were so few people there i decided to take the opportunity to just be in my thong. it felt great, and hopefully that will just be the norm for me now.

It's been hot! I mean HOT! and in Los Angeles there is no where better to escape the heat than along the beach. But man, the water is COLD! I was there yersterday, today and if the weather holds out tomorrow. What a perfect day! It was only ruined at the end when I was getting ready to leave and since most of the beach had cleared out this dude in a g-string felt it was OK to rub one off! What a d*ck! If you don't know, that's not cool, and if you're gonna do it, make sure no one is around... or was he hoping I see him?! I gotta go 'cause I'm gotta throw up! Armand. |

You're right about that area of Venice Beach: It's perfect. I recently moved to LA, so I'm still getting used to this 80 degrees in February thing. Gotta admit I like it, especially when there's easy access to the beach.

as far as rules go, i am not sure - legally. i sometimes wear a thong or sometimes a g-string, and have never had any issues or comments with either. i am usually in clear view of a lifeguard, or the patrol when they drive by, and have never heard a word from either. i am of the opinion that you could wear whatever you are comfortable in at venice, and as long as you keep with "normal beach etiquette", there should be no issues - just a nice relaxing day at the beach. |

I may buy another in XL and see what that does. It's funny to order an XL and I'm only 175 lbs.! It's a MPX , blue and it's very snug. I'll give it a go a few more times and decide if I want to go up one more size.
On another note, taking a page from the hosts book, I started to run on the beach in thongs. I started yesterday over at Dockweiller, figuring it was desolate enuff. Today I started over at Playa Vista near the new condos and discovered that corner is very thong friendly. I got cruised twice. I'm generally able to roll with any weird attention that may result ie: teenagers & uptite boyfriends, and I was able to roll with this but when one gentleman followed me down the sand, I became suspicious and bailed. The smoke was also a factor. Rather creepy none the less. OK enuff of my blathering. Here's to a quick rain and an extended summer! I'm starting to look pale! Thanx lads. |

Please cutback on starting new threads. Post replies to to existing threads on the subject.
If you want to cut and paste from your word processor do not do it directly.
First paste it into notepad or other basic ascii editor so that the formatting codes are removed, then cut again. This will give you clean posts.
